IRON MOUNTAIN — Mafalda (Molly) Rihtarshich, 86, of Sun City, Ariz., passed away Sept. 10, 2000, in Sun City.
She was a lifetime resident of Iron Mountain and a retired employee of the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
A memorial Mass will be offered by Rev. Msgr. James A. Kaczmarek at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain.
Franklyn Bruehl
FLORENCE, Wis. — Franklyn Ronald Bruehl, 59, of Florence, Wis., died Friday, July 20, 2001, at his home.
Franklyn was born July 11, 1942, in Florence, son of the late Frank and Dorothy (Blome) Bruehl. He attended school and worked on the farm with his father.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1964.
Upon his return he worked as a mechanic for the town of Florence and later was employed by the U.S. Forest Service. He also worked at Quality Cleaners in Iron Mountain.
Frank enjoyed doing mechanical work on his cars.
He leaves his daughter, Lisa (James) Wilkinson, and children, Brianna and Kyle of Statesboro, Ga.; two sisters, Marge Bruehl Lemanski of Florence and Kathleen (Jon) Pipp of Iron Mountain, and many nieces and nephews and a special friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Loraine McMullen.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.

Margaret LeTourneau
IRON MOUNTAIN — Margaret M. LeTourneau, 83, formerly of Iron Mountain, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at the Crandon Nursing Home in Crandon, Wis.
Mrs. LeTourneau was born July 13, 1918, in Emardville Township, Minn. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Mathilda (Havos) Brooks and had lived in the area for 34 years.
She retired after teaching for many years in the Iron Mountain School District and Community Schools systems. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Iron Mountain and a former member of the Daughters of Isabella. She had been named the First Lady of Dickinson County in 1985.
Mrs. LeTourneau was an active volunteer at the Caring House and St. Vincent de Paul Society. She loved to sew.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest in 1998; two sisters, Barbara Brooks and Anna Leone Maves; and three brothers, Robert, Albert and Donald Brooks.
She is survived by two sons, Gary (Sandra) LeTourneau of Goodman, Wis. and David (Elizabeth) LeTourneau of Escanaba; two brothers, Gerald (Connie) Brooks and Vernon Brooks, both of East Grand Forks, Minn.; and four grandchildren, Norbert, Kate, Emilie and Abbey.
Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 17, from noon until 1 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, at Glenwood Cemetery in Goodman, Wis.

Rosemary Sherman
CRYSTAL FALLS — Rosemary Sherman, 78, of 1518 County Road 424 in Crystal Falls (Indian Lake), died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Iron County General Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 6, 1923, in Albion, lower Michigan, daughter of the late Edwin and Marie (Watson) Torrey. She graduated from Albion High School in 1941 and on May 6, 1945, she married Howard Sherman.
While Howard was in the U.S. military, the couple lived in various communities throughout the United States and also in Ann Arbor, lower Michigan, while he was in college. They lived in Muskegon, lower Michigan for several years and then moved to the local area in 1974.
Rosemary was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Iron River. She had also been a member of the former 20th Century Women’s Club, where she had served as president, organized the Senior Girl’s Tea and established the Ruth White Children’s Committee.
An active member of the Iron County Museum and Historical Society, she managed the museum gift shop for 10 years and was instrumental in establishing the fund-raiser for moving the Carrie Jacobs-Bond home from Iron River to the museum grounds. She was also a member of the Carrie Jacobs-Bond Composing Threaders and Quilters and was a recipient of the Merit Award from the Michigan Historical Commission.
Rosemary had many talents and among them were sewing, painting, decorating, cooking, gardening and making dried flower creations. Her thoughtfulness in selecting appropriate gifts for family and friends often included handmade quilts, dried flower wreaths and arrangements, Teddy bears, cookies and canned specialties.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard on Aug. 4, 1993; a daughter, Susan Marie Sherman in 1976 and a son, Paul Sherman in 1985.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Judy (David) Warner of Escanaba; three grandchildren, Michael, Vincent and Jennifer; a great-granddaughter, Taylor Rose; a sister, Dorothy Ribby of Albion; six brothers, Daryle Torrey of Concord, lower Michigan; Jack Torrey of Six Lakes, lower Michigan, Max Torrey of San Diego, Calif., Ed Torrey of Florida and Claire and Clarence Torrey, both of Albion; a brother-in-law, Eber Sherman of Boyne Falls, lower Michigan; and cousins, Jack and Barbara Sherman of Caspian.
Visitation will be held Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Iron River. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the church. Rev. Douglas Cederberg, pastor of Grace Covenant Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Resthaven Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Vincent, Michael, Jack, Eber and Mark Sherman and David Warner. Honorary pallbearers will be George, Luke and Matt Sherman.
A string ensemble comprised of Ethan and Robb Robins and Barbara Sherman will provide special music for the service.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Iron County Museum.

CRYSTAL FALLS — Rose A. Clark, 83, of Crystal Falls, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility.
Visitation will be held Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. Eastern Star memorial services will be held Friday at 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Stanley Skiba
CRYSTAL FALLS — Stanley J. Skiba, 87, of 126 Mononohgela Road, Crystal Falls Township, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at his home.
Stanley was born on Aug. 21, 1913, in Chicago, son of the late Andrew and Mary (Biga) Skiba.
Stanley grew up and attended school in Chicago. He married Jennie Kudwa on Oct. 21, 1944 in Crystal Falls at Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Stanley worked for Ball Canning Co. in Chicago for more than 30 years, retiring in 1978. In 1983 they moved back to Crystal Falls. When they moved back to the area they purchased the Mononohgela Home and restored it to its present form. He was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church. While in Chicago, Stanley was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Stanley was a great story teller. He also enjoyed fishing and roses, but his biggest hobby was raising canaries. At one time he had 52 canaries.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie; a daughter, Therese (Thomas) Lizik of Chicago; the love of his life, his grandson Kevin and his wife Kathy Lizik of Chicago; his two great-grandchildren Katlin and Kevin Lizik; many nieces and nephews including his three nephews Tony, Al and Dick, whom he loved to take fishing and referred to them as the boys.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Celia Kwak, Julia Kwak, and Lottie Wiechk.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home. Prayers will be recited Sunday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, and Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Mass of Resurrection will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Fr. Ray Zeugner will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Barry Yonts
APPLETON, Wis. — Barry “Butch” Yonts, 60, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2001, at the Outagamie County Health Center. Butch was born on May 19, 1941 in Appleton, Wis., son of the late Roscoe and Goldie (Barry) Yonts. He was employed by Valley Packaging Industries of Appleton, until his retirement due to health problems.
Butch enjoyed outings with his brothers and center employees, watching movies and television, listening to music, participating in the Special Olympics, and going out to eat.
He is survived by his brothers, Charles (Cheryl) and Pete (Pam); his nephews, Tony, Scott and Shaun; his nieces, Laura and Amy; a great-nephew, Clint; and a great-niece, Annamarie; and numerous cousins and an aunt in Memphis,Tenn., Ann Hackleman.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, at the Outagamie County Health Center.

Terry Bohlman
NIAGARA, Wis. — Terry J. Bohlman, 69, of Niagara, Wis., passed away early Friday morning, July 27, 2001, at his home.
He was born Feb. 6, 1932 in Two Rivers, Wis., the son of the late Walter and Ann (Pionek) Bohlman.
He grew up and attended school in Two Rivers, graduating from Washington High School. He married Bernadine Humecki on May 17, 1952, in Pulaski, Wis. They moved to NIagara in 1945, where Terry worked for Clark Oil Co. as a territorial manager, retiring in 1990.
He enjoyed spending time at his cottage. Terry was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Niagara.
Terry is survived by his wife, Bernadine; a son, David (Teresa) Bohlman of Oconto, Wis.; five daughters, Ruth (Steve) Gussert of Kingsford, Peggy (Rick) Powell of Kingsford, Patsy Thomson of Niagara, Ann Rose of Niagara, Connie Rugg of Aurora; 14 grandchildren and three nieces.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lou Ann Klopfer; an infant sister and two infant brothers. There will be no visitation or services held.

Linda Ritchie
LONG LAKE, Wis. — Linda M. Ritchie, 49, of 1090 Highway 139 in Long Lake, Wis., died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Marquette General Hospital.
She was born Aug. 2, 1951, in Stambaugh, daughter of the late Ralph and Arizona (Fugate) Boodry. She grew up in Tipler and attended the Florence Public Schools. The family moved to Fond du Lac, Wis., where she graduated from high school in 1969.
On Dec. 6, 1969, she married James Ritchie and the couple moved to Long Lake. She had been employed at Coleman Products for 12 years and later at the Pamida Store in Iron River as a sales clerk.
She also worked for two years for the Reliance Construction Co. of DePere, Wis. and did bartending at Big Howie’s and the Wilderness II Bar. She was most recently a bookkeeper for her husband’s logging business.
She had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Oshkosh.
Linda enjoyed camping and taking movies of wildlife. She also made hand stitched quilts.
She is survived by her husband, James; a daughter, Lisa (Warren) Wilber of Long Lake, Wis.; a son, Adam Ritchie and his special friend, Melissa Catlow of Oshkosh, Wis.; a brother, Ralph (Sharon) Boodry of Fond du Lac, Wis.; two sisters, Loretta (Jim) Nourse of Oshkosh and Lorie Boodry and her special friend, Bruce Peterson of Oshkosh; four grandchildren, Kelsea and Jesse James Ritchie and Arizona and Samantha Wilber; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Langenberg Funeral Home - Iron River Chapel. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Maple Grove Baptist Church in Tipler. The Rev. Elwood Barker will officiate. Burial will be in the Martin Cemetery in Tipler.

IRON RIVER — Marie Manfrom, 84, of 1152 M-73 in Stambaugh Township, died Friday, July 27, 2001, at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 30, 1916, in Gaastra, daughter of the late Emery and Alice (Lajeunesse) King. She graduated from Stambaugh High School and then married her former husband, Lester Manfrom.
She lived in Crystal Falls and Stambaugh prior to moving to her new home on M-73. Marie had worked as a cook at the local senior citizens center and at the Iron River Nursing Home.
She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and had been a member of the former Eagles Auxiliary in Iron River.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Emery King Jr.
She leaves a daughter, Jolane Spoke of Iron River; three sons, Emery Manfrom of Milwaukee, Roger Manfrom of Midland, lower Michigan and Michael Manfrom of Iron River; five grandchildren, Melanie (Mike) Spoke-Cook of Portage, Wis., Daniel (Doriene) Spoke of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kristina (John) Carlson of Iron River, Michael Manfrom Jr. of Iron River and Jennifer Manfrom of California; and five great-grandchildren, Anthony, Crystal, Hashiem, Miah and Austin.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River. The Rev. Fr. Norm Clisch, pastor, will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Mass intentions may be offered for the repose of the soul of Marie.

HARDWOOD — Ruthie Robinette, 75, of Hardwood, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Mrs. Robinette was born Sept. 11, 1925 in Hardwood, daughter of the late John and Mary (DuFresne) McMahon. She had been a resident of Hardwood her entire life.
She married Marshall Robinette on Sept. 4, 1971 in Foster City. Together, she and her husband owned and operated Robinette’s Store in Hardwood for many years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Foster City. Ruthie enjoyed playing cards, reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, television and baseball.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Harold, Pat and Bill McMahon;a sister, Helen Backlund; a brother-in-law, Leonard “Pete” Robinette; and two sisters-in-law, Pearl Davis and Viola “Lala” Juneau.
She is survived by her husband, Marshall; a brother, George (Arlene) McMahon of Marquette; five sisters, Irella Hopkins and Vern Schei of Lansing, lower Michigan, Ila (Ralph) Pelletier of Florida, Nora (Fritz) Cerasoli of Iron Mountain and Aggie (Robert) Massie of Iron Mountain; four brothers-in-law, Dutch (Arlene) Robinette of Iron Mountain, Bob (Nancy) Robinette of Schaffer, Harold (Carol) Robinette of Schaffer, and Don (Marie) Robinette of Milwaukee; three sisters-in-law, Alice (Harold) Charlevoix of Hardwood, Betty (Earl) Carey of Hardwood and Shirley (Allan) Johnson of Foster City; and many nieces and nephews.

FOSTER CITY — Alice E. Milligan, 76, of Foster City, died Monday, July 30, 2001, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
Mrs. Milligan was born Aug. 21, 1924, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Andrew and Alice (Petchar) Schinderle.
She married Robert Milligan on Oct. 14, 1973, at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Vulcan.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Foster City. Alice enjoyed embroidering and playing cards.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Milligan; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marshall and Phyllis Kesler of Iron Mountain, Jim and Ann Milligan of Norway, Pat and Jan Milligan of Foster City, Faye and Tony Bartoscek of Kansas City, Kan., Janet and Ed Skibo of Crystal Falls, and Jenny Cieslak of Norway; a special niece, Barbara Hartwell and a special nephew, Jerry Cieslak; and many nieces and nephews.

Joan Friestrom
APPLETON, Wis. — Joan M. Friestrom, 80, of Appleton, Wis., died Sunday, July 29, 2001.
She was born Nov. 12, 1920 in Norway, daughter of the late Walter and Emma (DeRoeck) Dudy.
Joan married Gerald Friestrom on July 4, 1946, and he preceded her in death on July 21, 1998.
Joan attended the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn. and graduated from the School of Dental Hygiene at Marquette University in Milwaukee. She worked as a dental hygienist for 35 years until her retirement.
Joan was a lifetime member of the American Dental Hygienist Association, the Fox Valley Wisconsin State Dental Hygienist Association, Ladies Elks Club 335, Appleton Gallery of Arts and the Fox Valley Rock and Mineral Club, serving as president from 1992-1993.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise (Gary) Wischer of Sun Prairie, Wis.; her son, Richard Friestrom of Menasha, Wis.; five grandchildren, Stephen Jones, Deidre Jones, John (Tammy) Friestrom, Matthew (Stacy) Friestrom and Jennifer (James) Olsen; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Helen (Donald) Wendt, Bette (Merton) Cooney, Edith Lux and Louise Dudy; and her beloved Yorkie, Miss Muffett.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her brother, Walter Dudy; and her daughter-in-law, Kathy Friestrom.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 North Superior St. in Appleton, Wis. with Pastor Thomas A. Part officiating. Friends will be received on Thursday at 11 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Norway Cemetery.
A memorial is being established in Joan’s name.

Mckenna Pultz
NIAGARA, Wis. — Mckenna Kassidy Pultz, beautiful infant daughter of Dr. Robert and Sheri Pultz of 1064 Forest St., Niagara, passed away late Tuesday evening, July 31, 2001, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.
She was born Oct. 3, 2000, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
In addition to her parents, she leaves three brothers, Justin, Brett and Dyllan and two sisters, Courtnee and Allexis, all at home; her grandparents, Barbara and Len Tremain of Iron Mountain, James Raboin of Niagara and Russell and Joyce Pultz of Iron Mountain; four aunts, Cindy Krumrei of Howard, Wis., Carolyn (Bruce) LeBlanc of Kingsford, Becky Mohr of Niagara and Chris (Tom) St. Louis of Kingsford; an uncle, Jimmy Raboin of Green Bay, and a special cousin, Cassie Koller of Howard.
Mckenna is preceded in death by an uncle, Dennis Pultz.
Private family services will be held with burial in Niagara Cemetery.

Kenneth Peterson
KINGSFORD — Kenneth W. Peterson, 80, of Kingsford Heights, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Mr. Peterson was born March 23, 1921, in Iron Mountain, son of the late John and Lillie (Peterson) Peterson. He had been a resident of this area his entire life.
He was a 1939 graduate of Kingsford High School and married the former Virginia Sundin on July 12, 1940, in Iron Mountain.
Ken worked for Ford Motor Co. and then as a firefighter for the city of Kingsford until his retirement.
Ken was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Golden K Kiwanis Club, the Masonic Lodge and was a founding member of the Powder Lake Archery Club.
He was an accomplished carpenter and loved fishing, hunting and playing bocce ball. He spent many years singing in the church choir. Ken also enjoyed card playing and singing with the Golden K Golden Throats. He was an avid fan of Kingsford High School football and the Green Bay Packers. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; a son, Daniel (Dixie) Peterson of Hardwood; a brother, Marvin (Lorraine) Peterson of Iron Mountain; two sisters, Jean Parmelee of Iron Mountain and Lois (Frank) Derrick of Eagle River, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Ken (Laura) Peterson, Debbie Eilo, Tammy (John) Blomquist, Linda Oien, Shari (John) Bozile, Dawn (Rich Hood) Dumke, and Mindi (Les Lorenzoni) Bonikowske; eight great-grandchildren, Matt and Heather Peterson, Ryan Eilo, Brandi Schwittay, Mark and Tasha Dumke, and Zack and Devin Bozile; many nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Neva Johnson of Kingsford; and special friends, Henry London, Jack Brosio, Dick Walsh and many others.

Mrs. Petrick was born Aug. 15, 1923, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Ivar and Ruth (Lundgren) Harding. She had been a resident of this area her entire life and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1941.
She attended business school in Milwaukee.
She married her husband, Robert, on Dec. 16, 1953. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1998.
Mrs. Petrick worked for several years in housekeeping at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
She was a former member of Jobs Daughters. She also enjoyed camping and fishing.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Bud Harding, in 1997.
She leaves a daughter, Bonnie (Ken) LeGrave of Faithorn; six sons, James (Donna) Jafolla of Sheridan, Wy., Michael (Margaret) Petrick of Kingsford, Mark (Linda) Petrick of Rowlett, Texas, Robert (Shelly) Petrick of Iron Mountain, Greg (Marge) Petrick of Faithorn and Jeff (Paula) Petrick of Vulcan; a twin brother, William (Del) Harding of Clinton Township, lower Michigan; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, her dog and faithful companion, Omar.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. David Wallis will officiate.
Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Pearl Wills
NORWAY — Pearl M. Wills, 82, of Norway died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
Pearl was born March 24, 1919, in Wilson, daughter of the late Peter and Rose (LaVigne) Vanderlin.
She married Charles Peterson on Oct. 23, 1937, in Norway. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1958.
She married John Wills on June 18, 1966, in Norway. He preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 1985.
Pearl was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed time spent in her flower garden, going for drives in the country and get-togethers with her family. Friends and family stopping in to visit were treated to “goodies,” like Cousin Jack cookies, wonderful pies and pasties. She enjoyed time spent working with friends of the various organizations to which she belonged.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Norway, United Methodist Women, Federation of Women’s Clubs, Norway Chapter 251, Order of the Eastern Star, Sharon Shrine 45, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Norway-Vulcan Senior Center and Anderson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Pearl worked as an assistant custodian at the Norway-Vulcan schools, Kimberly Clark offices and Norway Canning Factory.
She leaves her daughters, Beverly (James) LaPine of Loretto and Dorothy (Erick) Palin of Orleans, Mass.; grandchildren, Jim (Jenny) LaPine, Lisa (Doug) Kraemer, Tim (Audry) LaPine, Erik Palin, Stefanie (Scott) Marsland; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Orville Vanderlin of Wenatchee, Wash.; sisters, Theresa (William) Toney of Columbus, Ga., Armelene (Loren) Etka of Niagara, Wis., and Mae (Wayne) Michaud of Quinnesec, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John Vanderlin, David Vanderlin and Peter Vanderlin; an infant brother, and a sister, Lorraine Trepanier.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. today at the Miner Funeral Home of Norway.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor David Wallis of Grace United Methodist Church in Norway, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Norway Township Cemetery.
