Gwen Lonn
PARK CITY, Utah — Gwen Lonn, 73, of Park City, died July 29, 2001, of a cerebral aneurysm.
Gwen was born in 1928, in Chicago, daughter of the late John and Anne (Asplund) Englund.
Her father died when she was seven and the family moved to Commonwealth, Wis.
She graduated from Florence High School and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in English from Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill.
She taught English for one year and then became an executive secretary for Illinois Tool Works in Chicago.
In 1951, she and Don Lonn were married and several years later, Gwen gave up her career to raise her two sons, Jeff and Eric.
Upon Don’s retirement, they moved to Park City. Gwen was very active in community affairs, including Park City Ambassadors, Garden Club, Egyptian Theater, Sundance Film Festival and Mountain Sports Club.
She leaves her husband, Don; sons, Jeff (Michelle) and Eric, both of Park City, and a brother, John (Julia) Englund of Spread Eagle, Wis.
Memorial services were held at St. Mary’s Church in Park City led by Fr. Bob Bussen, friend of Gwen and Don.
Burial was in Park City Cemetery.
Kay Coppens
NIAGARA, Wis. — Kay Jeanette Coppens, 63, of 2310 Goodreau St., Niagara, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Hospital after a courageous battle with a rare blood disease.
She was born Feb. 15, 1938. Grew up in Niagara, where she was a lifelong resident, graduating from Niagara High School in 1956.
After graduation, she worked as a secretary for Niagara High School, United Paperworkers International Union Local 1166 and Kimberly Clark Corp. Later she worked as a bartender at the former Tirschel’s Bowling Lanes (now Doug’s Hilltop), One More Time Saloon and the Chalet Bar. For the past 23 years, she worked as the deputy clerk/treasurer for the city of Niagara.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara.
She loved to dance and sing, bowl, camp, read, work crossword puzzles and play bingo. But most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren who were the light of her life.
Her survivors include her children, Zoe (David) Van Oss, Jacqueline (Donald) Fairbairn, Daniel Coppens (special friend, Anne), J.J. (Tracy) Coppens, and Christopher (Denise) Coppens; her beloved grandchildren, Matthew “Beautiful Brown Eyes,” Robert “Robby-Robby,” and McKenzie “Zippity-Doo-Da Girl” Van Oss, Corey Blue and Chandler Fairbairn, Jacob “Honey-Boy,” Brittany “Angel Pie,” and Katie “K-K-K-Katie” Coppens, Tyler “Bum Bum” and Joey “Kewpie Doll” Coppens, and Parker Coppens. She was anxiously awaiting the birth of another grandchild. Also surviving are Kay’s mother, Hester Rucinski; six sisters, Mary Ann “Mitzi” (James) Ebidon, Lysle (Earl) Rugg, Bonnie (Ronald) DeCremer, Ila (Robert) Sparpana, Claire (John) Berry, and Tanya (Dennis) Payette, and a brother, Johnny Rucinski. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter “Eddie” Rucinski; a brother, Robert Rucinski; a sister, Patricia (Roger) Wescher; brothers-in-law, Earl Rugg and James Ebidon Sr., and nephews, Robert John Gordon Rucinski and Ronald “Chipper” DeCremer.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Fr. Michael Betley will officiate.
Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Coppens, J.J. Coppens, Christopher Coppens, Johnny Rucinski, Dennis “Jake” Payette, Robert Sparpana, David VanOss and Donald Fairbairn.
Kay loved children and expressed a wish for a memorial fund for children’s health issues. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, a donation to “Kay Coppens’ Cradle of Hope” to the family or in care of the Niagara Area Credit Union, is appreciated.

Charles Carlson
IRON MOUNTAIN — Charles “Chuck” Carlson, 82, of 245 Jule Lake Road, Peavy Falls, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Milwaukee.
He was born Jan. 13, 1919, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Charles and Julia (Yuhasey) Carlson. He graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1937.
Chuck was one of the original settlers in the Peavy Falls area and began developing his property during the time of the early logging camps.
He worked for Ford Motor Co. before enlisting in the service in 1941. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and spent four years in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
Chuck married Patricia Berg on June 28, 1952, in Iron Mountain.
Following his return from World War II, he started the Jule Lake Greenhouse. He and his wife operated the greenhouse for 15 years. He was then employed at the Veterans Administration Medical Center for 26 years, retiring in 1987.
Chuck was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford, Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 and the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Golden K Kiwanis Club, where he willingly contributed to whatever task needed his energy and talent. In 1995, Chuck was presented the Golden K Merle Klatt Award for commitment and quiet performance above and beyond expectations.
Every spring and summer he and his wife, Pat would present the members of Golden K with fresh produce grown from their garden with love and common pride.
Chuck loved hunting, fishing and especially gardening, which he shared with everyone.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Carlson, and a sister, Luciel Jennings.
He leaves his wife, Pat; a son, Shawn of Peavy Falls; a sister, Margaret (Howard) Benson of Orlando, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. Michael March will officiate.
Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Dale Frei, Dick Abraham, David Provencher, Mark Bosley, Rene Skrumbellos and Dick Walsh.

Madeline Monroe
IRON MOUNTAIN — Madeline “Lena” Monroe, 96, of 410 Millie St., Iron Mountain, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
Mrs. Monroe was born March 10, 1905, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Peter and Magdalena (Bugni) Nora. She had been a resident of this area her entire life.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain and the Daughters of Isabella.
Mrs. Monroe was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Bloom, and five brothers, Peter, John, Charles, Jim and Joseph Nora.
She leaves her son, Robert (Rita) Monroe of Iron Mountain; nine grandchildren, Patricia (Al) LaVoie of Nasheua, N.H., Kathy (Ron) Etlinger of Mt. Vernon, N.H., Pamela (James) Inglese of Batavia, Ill., Robert Jr. (Lisa) Monroe of Shelby Township, lower Michigan, Melody Monroe of North Canton, Ohio, Judy Quigley of Milford, N.H., Heather (Mike) Boyd of West Bloomfield, lower Michigan, Kelly (Tim) Millen of Kailua, Hawaii and Maureen Monroe of Novi, lower Michigan, and 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.

Patrick Waterman
IRON MOUNTAIN — Patrick M. Waterman, 80, of Branchville, S.C., died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, at the home of his son in Kingsford after a short battle with cancer.
Pat was born March 17, 1921, in Town Corner Lake, Beecher, Wis., son of the late Floyd and Minnie Jean (Nixon) Waterman. He was raised in the Beecher area.
At the age of 17, he drove over the road for Roadway Express before joining the U.S. Maries, where he served in the South Pacific during World War II.
Pat was a construction worker and carpenter/millwright and a 51-year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.
He was devoted to his family, loved spending time outdoors with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved the woods, hunting, fishing, bird watching, reading and what time he could spend with his friends.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Virginia (Wiles) Waterman (Aug. 18, 1945), of Branchville; two sons, Ford (Vicki) Waterman and David Bruce (Elaine) Waterman; two daughters, Linda (Dave) Fornetti and Beverly (Jim) Alfonso; nine grandchildren, Sandi (Tom) Tollefson, Sara Fornetti, Amy Alfonso, Tony Alfonso, Tanya (Dennis) DalSanto, Tara (Scott) Person, Christa (Craig) Hollander, Lance (Sarah) Waterman and Russell (Abby) Waterman; 10 great-grandchildren, Aidan, Kiernan and Fiona Tollefson, Amanda Sherlock, Dylan and Tori DalSanto, Austin and Abby Person, Brandon Waterman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
According to Pat’s wishes he will be cremated, and his ashes will be scattered at his birthplace.

IRON MOUNTAIN — Beverly J. Anderson, 85, of 1820 Mary’s Way, Kingsford, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
Funeral services will be held at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Lansing.
Burial will follow at the Delta Center Cemetery in Delta Center, lower Michigan.

Angeline DeMuri
IRON MOUNTAIN — Angeline J. DeMuri, 80, of 610 W. Stanton St., Iron Mountain, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at her home.
She was born on Dec. 29, 1920, in Crystal Falls, the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Chesky) Pintarelli.
Mrs. DeMuri attended Crystal Falls schools and cosmetology school. She worked at the bomber plant in Willow Run; at a beauty shop in Crystal Falls and at Kresge’s Five and Dime. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
She married Geno DeMuri on Nov. 8, 1947, in Crystal Falls. He preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1990.
She is survived by two brothers, John (Mary) Pintarelli of Crystal Falls, and Ernest (Rosalie) Pintarelli of Menominee; four sister, Irene Miller of Crystal Falls, Alice (Walt) Hagglund of Crystal Falls, Ruth (Allen) Maki of Iron Mountain, and Jane Stroud of Menominee Falls, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Pintarelli, and infant twin sisters.
Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Cemetery Park.

Allie Stefanovich
IRON RIVER — Allie Amanda Stefanovich, 83, of 714 Harding Ave., Iron River, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility.
She was born Dec. 2, 1917, in Stambaugh, daughter of the late Frank and Lydia (Latvala) Maki. She graduated from Stambaugh High School in 1935.
On Sept. 27, 1940, she married Ted Stefanovich and the couple made their home in Stambaugh.
Allie had been employed as a nurse’s aide at the Iron County Medical Care Facility and later at Iron County General Hospital until her retirement.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Women of the ELCA of the church and had been a former reader, Sunday school teacher, greeter and choir member.
Allie loved the outdoors, especially fishing, gardening, hunting and walking.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Laurie, Donald, Oliver, and Martin Maki.
She is survived by her husband, Ted; three daughters, Sandra (Robert) Mattson, Janice Colville, and Chris (Terry) Langenberg, all of Iron River; three grandchildren, Erin Langenberg and Mark (Kelly) Mattson, both of Iron River and Richard (Cindy) Mattson of Caspian; nine great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Robbie, Sheena, Josh, Jamie, Jason, Jenny, Tanya and Indie Mattson; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Langenberg Funeral Home — Stambaugh Chapel.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Iron River. The Rev. Fred Kinsey and the Rev. Dr. Kim Beckmann, pastors will officiate. Burial will be in the Stambaugh Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorials can be made to the adult retreat center at Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp.

Anna Oliver
IRON MOUNTAIN — Anna Louise Oliver, 92, of Iron Mountain, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at Maryhill Manor Nursing Home in Niagara, Wis.
She was born May 17, 1909, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Charles and Trine (Pedersen) Carlson. She had been a lifelong resident of the area.
Anna married Charles Oliver on March 30, 1963. He preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 1994.
Anna went to Northern State Teachers College (now Northern Michigan University) , where she received a bachelor of science degree. She was a teacher for the Breitung Township Schools for 37 years, retiring in 1969.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, MARSP, NRTA division of AARP, and a former member of the Women’s Bowling Association for 26 years. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and bowling.
She is survived by three nieces, Margaret Hastings of Battle Creek, lower Michigan, Celia (Mac) Biener of Belmont, lower Michigan and Helen (Clifford) Conkell of Athens, lower Michigan; a nephew, Leonard (Marge) Carlson of Manistee, lower Michigan; two cousins, Inga Omholdt of Breitung Township and Lorene Van De Core of El Passo, Texas; a special friend and caregiver, Linda F. Martin of Quinnesec; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred and Helmer Carlson and two sisters, Hilda Carlson and Inger Erickson.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church.

Charles Moller
FENCE, Wis. — Charles Eugene Jelanovitz Moller, 91, of Fence, Wis., died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at the Crandon Nursing Home.
He was born Nov. 4, 1909, in Chicago, son of the late John and Josephine (Dronseca) Jelanovitz. The family came to Florence County when he was a young lad.
He married the former Pauline Veronica Nichols on Feb. 16, 1931. The couple lived in Fence and raised six sons and one daughter.
Charles was a hard working woodsman and worked for several local loggers before moving to South Dakota in the 1970s. They returned to Florence in September 1994 and lived at Chapin Heights before going to the Crandon Nursing Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Frank Moller; his wife, Pauline; a son, Raymond of South Carolina; a daughter, Mary Rose Brammer of South Dakota; two infant daughters; a sister, Catherine (Ed) Thomas; a brother-in-law, Frank Dalberto; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Charles is survived by five sons, Larry of Oshkosh, Wis., Jerome (Deloris) of Fence, Wis., Keith (Mary) of Manitowoc, Wis., Brian (Nancy) of Chattanoga, Tenn. and Kenneth of Fence; a daughter-in-law, Carole of South Carolina; two sisters, Leona Dalberto of Iron Mountain and Rose (Gordon) Seaver of Humboldt, Fla.; 26 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Armstrong Creek, Wis.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the church. Fr. Edward Nowakowski will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Fence Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Fence Hall.

Andrea Fox
IRON MOUNTAIN — Andrea Lee Fox, 17, of 704 West B St., Iron Mountain, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, in Commonwealth Township, Wis. from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born March 5, 1984, in Crystal Falls.
Andrea attended Florence High School and worked as a cook and waitress at the Chuckwagon in Spread Eagle, Wis.
Andrea was a beautiful young woman and will be deeply missed by all.
She is survived by her parents, Susan (Baldwin) Fox of Iron Mountain and Fred Fox of Spread Eagle, Wis.; a sister, Stephanie Fox of Iron Mountain; her grandparents, Ken and Alice Koch of Iron Mountain; four aunts, Debbie (Mike) Horton of Iron Mountain, Sandy (Jim) Petroff of Spread Eagle, Wis., Cathy (Paul) Lundy of Iron Mountain and Susie Fox of Iron Mountain; five uncles, Dale (Lori) Baldwin of Kingsford, Glenn (Chris) Baldwin of Quinnesec, Keith (Lisa) Baldwin of Kingsford, Brian (Kristi) Baldwin of Hanover, Md. and Robert Fox of Buffalo, N.Y.; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Myrton F. and Mary Ann Fox.

Dean Schultz
GREEN BAY, Wis. — Dean E. Schultz, 37, of Green Bay, Wis., died unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 20, 2001 while at his camp in Beecher, Wis.
Dean was born Sept. 17, 1963 in Kingsford, son of the late Elmer and Alice (Johnson) Schultz.
His family moved to Green Bay in 1972. Dean attended East High School. He worked for Miller’s Siding for the past 15 years.
Dean is remember by his family for his love of the outdoors; including hunting, fishing and camping, but the true love of his life was his darling daughter, Alia, who made everyday and every activity together very special.
He is survived by his five year-old daughter, Alia; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Marlene Herzog of Pembine, Wis., Diane and “Butch” Miller of Green Bay; four brothers and a sister-in-law: Wayne and Karen Schultz of Kingsford, and Bruce Schultz, Larry Schultz, Vernon Schultz, all of Green Bay; a special friend and mother of Alia, Lori Herrbold of Green Bay; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Alice Schultz and one brother-in-law, Marlin Herzog.
Visitation will be held Friday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Malcore Funeral Home, University Avenue at Baird Street in Green Bay. The memorial service will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Judy Raboin
NIAGARA, Wis. — Judy Raboin, 86, a native of Niagara, Wis., died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Born Judith Jeanette DeCremer on Aug. 6, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Anna (Wagner) DeCremer.
In retirement, Judy enjoyed golfing, bowling, knitting and visiting her children and grandchildren in California. She made a fabulous vegetable soup and applesauce cake.
She graduated from Niagara High School and was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara.
A special thanks to her loving family and friends for aiding in her ability to remain at home during most of her illness. It was a precious, meaningful time for all concerned.
Judy is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charlie Raboin; two sons, Don (Elaine) of Novato, Calif. and Tom (Carol) of Anchorage, Alaska; one daughter, Susan (Marcus) Pope of Claremont, N.C.; two grandchildren, Amy Raboin of Novato, Calif. and Diane Raboin of San Francisco, Calif.; one sister, Eileen Ries of New Port Richey, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lillian DeCremer in 1944, Helen Gregory in 1976, and Agnes Collinson in 1999; and one brother, Norbert DeCremer in 1990.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1 at the church. Fr. Michael Betley will officiate. A luncheon will follow at St. Anthony Church hall. Burial will be in the Niagara Cemetery.

Norman Cowling
KINGSFORD — Norman R. Cowling, 58, of N1901 Skidmore Drive, Kingsford, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
He was born Nov. 16, 1942, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Norman and Sima (Maki) Cowling.
Mr. Cowling loved his work and was a dedicated employee at East Kingsford Iron and Metal. He enjoyed working with wood and hunting.
Norman married Joan Givogre on Sept. 30, 1985, in Iron Mountain.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; two sisters, Norma (Roger) Deau of Norway and Sonja Steinbeck of Kingsford; two brothers, Dale (Gayle) Cowling of Foster City and Duane “Gramps” (Kris) Cowling of Kingsford; three children; three stepchildren including a special stepson, Tom (Cathy) Sweig of Pembine, Wis.; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Cowling and two sisters, Thelma Martin and Catherine Paupore.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.

Viola Podgorski
NIAGARA, Wis. — Viola J. Podgorski, 77, of Niagara, Wis., died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at her home.
She was born Aug. 11, 1924, in Vulcan, daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Yourkoski) Mastie.
Viola graduated from Niagara High School in 1942. She retired from Madigan’s Department Store in Chicago and returned to live in Niagara. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Podgorski and a brother, Elmer Mastie.
She is survived by her brother, Raymond Mastie of Niagara; a sister, Barbara Faucette of Pembine, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held today from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Miner Funeral Home in Norway.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara.

CRYSTAL FALLS — Anthony “Judge” Carlotto, 88, of 304 Michigan Ave., Crystal Falls, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, at Iron County General Hospital.
He was born June 15, 1913, in Cystal Falls, the son of the late Dominic and Angeline (Fiorazzo) Carlotto. He graduated from the Crystal Falls High School in 1934 and attended college classes sponsored by the government in Crystal Falls offered by Michigan Technological University and Northern Michigan University. He worked with the federal government WPA program as a recreation director and also with the local chamber of commerce.
On July 5, 1952, he married the former Geraldine Powers.
He worked for the former Stella Cheese Co., the Crystal Dairy, and Vacationland Dairy in Crystal Falls from 1943 to 1966 when he retired.
He served as the first president of the Crystella Sports Club in 1939 and was instrumental in developing the Crystella Ski Hill which included competitive junior ski jumping events. He was a charter member of the Crystal Falls Lions Club and had been a member of the VJ Day Committee. He had been selected to serve as grand marshal at one of the past VJ Day parades.
A former city councilman for 17 years, including mayor pro-tem, he was also actively involved with the Crystal Falls Centennial committee in 1980. He was president of the Crystal Falls Softball Association when it was organized and built the playing field at Runkle Lake Park. For many years he was also the announcer at the softball games.
He was so well-versed in baseball facts that someone tagged him with the name “Judge” after the former Judge Keensaw (Mountain) Landis who was baseball commissioner in the 1920’s. “Ask the judge, “ was often heard in Crystal Falls through the years when anyone had a question about professional sports, particularly baseball.
He was a member of the Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Crystal Falls.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Michael and by three brothers, Albert, Bruno, and Joseph Carlotto.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; a son, Patrick (Marian) Carlotto of Crystal Falls; a brother, John Carlotto of Crystal Falls; two sisters, Catherine Carlotto and Mary Paulsen, both of Crystal Falls; one grandson, Patrick Carlotto of South Haven, lower Michigan; five great-grandchildren, Barbara, Angel, Michael, Andrew, and Dillon; and man nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Crystal Falls. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Fr. Ray Zeugner, pastor, will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Members of the Crystal Falls Lions Club will serve as pallbearers.

Marino Pucci
IRON MOUNTAIN — Marino “Muzz” Pucci, 95, of 800 East Grant St., Iron Mountain, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Marino was born March 10, 1906, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Oreste and Regina Pucci.
Marino was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain and a 1924 graduate of Iron Mountain High School. He married Mary Balzarini on Oct. 14, 1944, in Sagola.
Marino worked as a printer for the Iron Mountain News for 41 1/2 years.
He was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church , the Holy Name Society, Paisano Club and the Menominee Range Historical Museum.
Marino, along with his wife, Mary established the Marino and Mary Pucci Scholarship at Iron Mountain High School.
He was a former member of the International Typographical Union, Iron Mountain-Kingsford Elks Lodge, and former scorekeeper for the Twilight Baseball League.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; one sister, Helen (Art) Oliva of Iron Mountain; eight nephews, Ted (Sharon) Pucci of Kingsford, Louis “Chooch” (Joan) Pucci of Iron Mountain, Robert (Isabelle) Paoletti of Merriman, Donald (Carol) Paoletti of Waukesha, Wis., Donald (Carol) Balzarini of Arizona, Charles (Marie) Balzarini of Arizona, David (Janet) Balzarini of Vancover, British Columbia, and Jon Balzarini of Iron Mountain; and two nieces, Jacqueline (Carl) Lemin of Kingsford and Dena (Steve) Martin of Randville.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Pucci Sr.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron Mountain. Parish prayers will be recited Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Mass of Resurrection will follow at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. Dan Zaloga will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
The family is being served by the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
