LYONS POINT - Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at 2 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for Audrey Helen Comeaux Primeaux, 64, who died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at 6:15 p.m. at her residence.
Father Albert Nunez will officiate for the services assisted by Reverend Rodless LeLeux. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Visitation was observed on Monday from 11:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. and will be observed on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.
A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home. Father Nunez had a 3 p.m. Divine Mercy Chaplet on Monday.
Altar servers will be grandchildren, Garry, Oliver, Alan and Terri Primeaux. The other twelve granddaughters will be gift bearers and flower bearers.
Survivors include her husband, Alvin J. Primeaux of Lyons Point; four daughters, Janet P. Sons of Patterson, Vivian Primeaux of Iowa, Fayetta P. Primeaux and husband, Garry Sr. of Grand Chenier, Angela P. Kelehan and husband, Troy of Coteau; three sons, Roger Primeaux and wife, Debbie of Lyons Point, Wendall Primeaux and wife, Claudette of Lyons Point, and Kevin Primeaux and wife, Kim of Crowley; one sister, Anna Benoit and husband, N. J. of Winnie, Texas; one brother, Francis “Teese” Comeaux and wife, Leathon of Avondale; two brothers-in-law, Raleigh Primeaux of Baytown, Texas, and Wilson Primeaux and wife, Rita of Opelousas; two sisters-in-law, Virgene P. Comeaux and her husband, Demus of Lafayette, Mrs. Huey (Mary) Primeaux of Baytown, Texas, and 23 grandchildren.
Mrs. Primeaux was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard “Nome” Comeaux.
Pallbearers will be her three sons, Roger, Wendall and Kevin Primeaux; three grandsons, Dale Primeaux, Brandon Primeaux and Nicholas Kelehan. Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher and Zachary Kelehan, Nathaniel Savant, Logan, Garry Jr., Oliver and Alan Primeaux.

Mrs. Magnolia “Nolia” Winters Fusilier
KAPLAN - Funeral services for Mrs. Magnolia “Nolia” Winters Fusilier, 81, of Kaplan, who died at 1 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at a Lafayette hospital will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2000, at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in Kaplan.
Visitation will be observed on Saturday, April 8, 2000, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church.
Burial will be held in Kaplan Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel of Lake Charles.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Rita Fusilier Riley of Crowley; one son, Joseph Nelson Fusilier of Monroe; one sister, Rena Boudreaux of Lafayette; one brother, Willie Winters of Lafayette; a grandson, Lester Fusilier, (Mrs. Magnolia Fusilier reared this child as her own); seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Fusilier was born in Maurice and lived in Kaplan most of her life. She was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church.
Wilbert Joseph Douglas
PHILADELPHIA - Funeral services were held at 11a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Bible Way Baptist Church for Wilbert Joseph Douglas, 65, who died at his residence in Philadelphia.
Reverend Osborn Walker officiated for the services. Visitation was observed at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Visitation will be also be observed at Winbush Funeral Home in Crowley on Saturday, April 8, 2000, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. with burial to follow in South Crowley Cemetery. Reverend Jesse Banks will preside at the dismissal services.
Survivors include two daughters, Maebelee James and Denise James of Port Arthur, Texas; six sisters, Elnora Douglas, Mary Demuchest, Gloria Harmon, Alverta Douglas, all of Crowley, Martha Douglas of Baton Rouge and Elizabeth Douglas of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Keene Douglas of Houston, Texas, and Martin Douglas of Baytown, Texas; two grandchildren, Latoya James and Joseph James of Port Arthur, Texas; one aunt, Lillie Mae Martin of Port Arthur, Texas.
Mr. Douglas was a retired merchant seaman with 30 years of service and a member of the Bible Way Baptist Church, where he served as an outreach minister.

Reverend Leslie Dugas Jr. will officiate for the services. Burial will be held in West Crowley Protestant Cemetery.
Visitation will be observed on Friday, April 7 at the church from 6-10 p.m. A Masonic ritual will be held at 7 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, one son, six daughters, four brothers, two sisters, two godchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Mr. Byers was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary J, Byers; his first wife, Alzora H. Byers, two sons, four brothers and three sisters.
He was a member of C.F. Ladd Masonic Lodge #48 of Crowley, Shriners, AARP, Soul Brothers Social and Civic Club. A retired veteran of the U.S. Army, he was retired from Conoco Oil Company as an oil/gas transporter. He was employed by the Acadia Parish School Board as Bus Driver #23 until his illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2000, at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Francis Emily Hoffpauir, 78, who died at 12:01 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2000, at Landmark Retirement Center in Crowley.
Reverend Bob Hollis will officiate for the services. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be observed on Saturday from 4-9 p.m. and on Sunday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.
She was preceded in death by her aunts, Nideth and Hilda Harmon; one brother, Eugene Winan Hoffpauir Jr.; and her parents, Winan Hoffpauir and Effie Laura Harmon.
She was a 1938 graduate of Crowley High School and was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. She spent most of her life doing needlework.

ESTHERWOOD - Funeral services will be held April 10, 2000 at 2 p.m. in Saint Margarets Catholic Church in Estherwood for Walter “Manny” Myers, 59, who died on Saturday, April 8, 2000 at Lafayette General Hospital. Burial will be held in Saint John the Baptist Cemetery in Lyons Point. Father Rusty Richard and Father David Broussard will officiate for the services.
The rosary will be recited today at 5 p.m. by the Ladies Alter Society and then at 7 p.m. by Father Broussard.
Visitation began at 10 a.m. this morning and will continue until time of services on Monday.
Survivors include his wife, Elda Rene Thibodeaux Myers of Midland; two sons, Donnie Blaine Myers and his wife, Danielle and Treg Blake Myers and his wife, Cheryl, all of Midland; two daughters, Felisha Ann Myers and her husband, Rickey Klumpp of Morse and Kimberly Ann Myers of Midland; two sisters, Gertie Istre of Estherwood and Lerdie Godeaux of Crowley; eleven grandchildren, Nikki, Lance, Heidi, Dewey, Alexis, Morgan and Garrett Myers; Lindsey Harmon, Brooke, Christopher and Brittany Klumpp.

INDIAN BAYOU - Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2000 at Indian Bayou United Methodist Cemetery for Shelby Ray LeBlanc, 58, of Crowley. Mr. LeBlanc died on Friday, April 7, 2000 at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Officiating for the services will be Rev. Ross Genger. The VFW Post 6720 will present the military honors.
Survivors include one sister, Betty Roller of Crowley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Ruth Meaux LeBlanc; three brothers, Morris, Norris and Berkley LeBlanc.
He served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam era.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, April 11, at St. Michael Catholic Church for George Roy LeBlanc, 89, who died at 4:10 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2000, at the Landmark Retirement Center in Crowley.
Father Aaron Melancon officiated for the services. Burial was held in St. Joseph Mausoleum in Rayne.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel.
Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Elaine L. and Ashton Cassedy of Crowley; three grandchildren and their spouses, Allen George and Romna Cassedy of Crowley, Rustin Matthew and Gretchen Cassedy of Crowley, and Mollie and Bobby Hanks of Crowley; and four great-grandchildren, Caroline Elise Cassedy, Megan Elizabeth Cassedy, Matthew David Hanks and Nicholas Roy Hanks.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Chavuin LeBlanc; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Moise LeBlanc; and his sister, Rena LeBlanc.
Mr. LeBlanc was a retired farmer of Acadia Parish and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Pallbearers were Leonard L. “Buck” Leonards, Fredrick J. Gossen, Samuel Theunissen, Roberts A. Hanks, Bryan G. Leonards and Charles C. Bier Sr. Honorary pallbearers were Eugene Wagner, Johnny M. Fruge, Charles C. Bier Sr. and Donald John.

CARENCRO - Funeral services were held on Monday, April 10, at a 2 p.m. Mass in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church for Roicy J. Duhon Jr., 47, who died Saturday, April 8, 2000 at Medical Center of Southwest Louisiana in Lafayette.
The Rev. Bill Melancon officiated. Interment
was in Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery in Kaplan.
Musical selections were provided by Matt Chatagnier. Songs sung included “On Eagles Wings,” “Ave Maria,” “Amazing Grace,” and “Here I Am Lord.”

Mr. Duhon was a native of Kaplan and a resident of Carencro. For the past 10 years he was the supervisor of the Lafayette Parish Animal Shelter.
Survivors include, his wife, Stephanie Dupont Duhon of Carencro; one son, Roicy “Tiger” Duhon III of Carencro; two daughters, Lauren Duhon and Andrea Duhon, both of Carencro; his mother, Catherine Greiser Duhon of Lafayette; his paternal grandmother, Anita Connor Duhon of Kaplan; one brother and his wife, Dan William and Debbie Duhon of Lafayette; three sisters, Mrs. Gerald (Anita) Cormier of Lafayette, Mrs. Mark (Theresa) Stelly of Lafayette and Roxann Gayle Duhon of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roicy Joseph Duhon Sr.

Latoya was a junior attending Crowley High School. She was a member of the Prom Committee and the Crowley High FCCLA Chapter. She was an active member of the St. Theresa Church Youth Group and was a member of the 2000 Confirmation Class.

Zaunbrecher of Roberts Cove, who was like a sister to her; 21 nieces and nephews and 37great-nieces and nephews. she was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Anna Marie Thevis Reiners; one brother, Alois Reiners and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. P.J. She was a member of the Association of the Miraculous Medal, a Eucharistic Minister for 20 years to the sick and homebound, served Our Lord as Sacristan for numerous years, past member of the St. Lawrence Altar Society and received the Bishop’s Medal for the Diocese of Lafayette Devoted Service Award. She dedicated her life to the care of her parents and also devoted her time knitting and crocheting afghans for the church and school benefits.
Alberta Lyons will provide the music for the German Choir, the St. Michael’s Choir and Rita and Harvey Hebert’s rendition of “On This Day, Oh Beautiful Mother.”

Ferdie Amede Fontenot, 68, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at Southdown Care Center in Houma, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Laura Fontenot, formerly of Crowley; his wife, Eveldia “Mae-Mae” Cyprien Fontenot, his brother, Eddie “Red” Fontenot.
Raised in Crowley, he moved to Los Angeles, California, as a young man. He returned home after many years and for the last few, was a resident of Christian Villa Nursing Home.
He leaves to mourn his passing, one sister, Ola Mae Fontenot Bell of Los Angeles, California; one brother, Paul Fontenot of Santee, California; one daughter, Roxanne Fontenot of Crowley; six sons, Willard “Bill” Fontenot of San Diego, California; Calvin Zeno of Crowley; Kenny, Terry, Bobby and Michael Fontenot of Los Angeles, Calif.; one who loved him and admired him, Brenda Faye Hawkins’; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Before his death Ferdie donated his body to science.

Mr. Gautreaux owned and operated several businesses throughout his lifetime, including Acadia Feed and Fertilizer, Ecrevisse Acadian, Gautreaux’s Christmas Tree Farm and Southwind Farms. Mr. Gautreaux was a member of the Louisiana Quarterhorse Association, the American Angus Association and the Louisiana Cattleman’s Association. Southwind Farms included raising racehorses, cattle ranching and growing hay, which he did until his recent illness.
Mr. Gautreaux founded First Federal Savings and Loan in Rayne, served as Chamber of Commerce president and served on the Louisiana Seafood Board. He was a member of the Woodman of the World, Knights of Columbus in Mire and served as an usher for Church of the Assumption.
Survivors include his one daughter and son-in-law, Christine G. Foreman and Michael Foreman of Rayne; two lovely grandchildren, Christopher Michael, 10, and Madeline Annie, 9; one brother, Bud Gautreaux of Rayne; and three sisters, Bea G. Montgomery of Kaplan, Jeanette G. Beard of Rayne and Rosalie G. Thilborger of Covington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Heinen Gautreaux; and his parents, Alcee J. Gautreaux and Leonia L. Gautreaux.

Ada Marie Garrick Bias was born on July 20, 1944, in Crowley to the now late Vincent and Doris Garrick.
She attended Ross High School. She was employed by Capitol Manufacturing Company for 22 years, where she was a dedicated worker.
To the former union of Ada and Thomas Bias were born four children, Michelle, Gretchen, Thomas Jr. and Terrance.
She was a member of First Church of God in Christ, where she served as a Nursery Sunday School teacher for many years.
She will be remembered and cherished with love and adoration by children, grandchildren, siblings, other family members and friends.
As a daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother and grandmother, in past and present capacities, she was committed and dedicated to family and family values. As a church worker, community member and friend, she was loyal and considerate. She was a compassionate humanitarian who loved to serve in whatever capacity she was needed.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Michelle Bias of Austin, Texas; Gretchen Bias Coner and her husband, Errol Coner of Dallas, Texas; two sons, Thomas Bias Jr. and his companion, Angela Guillory of Autstin Texas; and Terrance Bias of Austin, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jabari Coner, Marjanee’ Guillory-Bias, Shiasha Lyons, Trey Bias, Chelsey Mays, Jamila Coner and Nyeia Bias; six brothers, Hillman and Gerald Garrick of Crowley, Hayman Garrick of Iota, Lee Garrick of Englewood, Calif., Carol Garrick of Los Angeles, Calif., and Bobby Garrick of Chicago, Ill.; five sisters, her twin, Audrey Bernard of Crowley, Dorothy Melton of Harbor City, Calif., Leila Garrick of Lafayette, Caroline Jones of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Kerry Barnum of Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent Garrick and Doris Garrick; three sisters, Geraldine G. Alexander, Thelma Garrick and Nettie Martin; two brothers, Kelly Garrick and Crosby Garrick.

William A. Odom Jr.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2000, at 2 p.m. in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for William A. Odom Jr., 86, who died on Monday, April 24, 2000, at 7:15 p.m. in the Amelia Manor Nursing Home in Lafayette.
The Rev. Monsignor Charles A. Mallet of Lafayette will conduct the memorial services.
Survivors include his wife, Haidee Redlich Odom of Crowley; two sons, Owen Odom and his wife, Margot of Crowley and Kenneth M. Odom and his wife, Donna of New York; five grandchildren, Eric Odom, Michael Odom, Patrick Odom, Kevin Odom and Timothy Odom; one sister, Marion Knight of Lafayette; one brother, Dr. James Odom of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, William R. Odom; and one brother, Troy Odom.
A native of Oakdale and a resident of Crowley for 18 years, Mr. Odom was the son of the late William A. Odom Sr. and the former Katy Nash, both natives of Allen Parish.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Odom was employed by the State of Louisiana Child Welfare Department where he worked in the Support Enforcement Section. Formerly, he was employed by Continental Oil Co. and Treat-O-Lite Oil Treatment Co.
Mr. Odom was a member of the St. Michael Catholic Community of Crowley.
Visiting hours will be observed on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of services.

Hilda LeBlanc “Sweetpea” Rodgers
Funeral services will be held at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 29, 2000, in Delhomme Bertrand Chapel of The Flowers for Hilda M. “Sweetpea” Rodgers, 81, who died at 11:20 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Lafayette General Hospital. Reverend Monsignor Harry Benefiel will celebrate the Mass.
Interment
will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
Mrs. Rodgers, the former Hilda “Sweetpea” LeBlanc, was a native of Crowley, the daughter of the late Alphee LeBlanc and the former Alice Mauboules. A graduate of St. Michael High School in Crowley, she then attended S.L.I., now U.L., where she was a member of the Red Jackets and Phi Mu Sorority. A resident of Lafayette since 1937, she taught at Spencer Business College and later at Southern Technical College, retiring after teaching for 20 years. Mrs. Rodgers was an active member of St. Jules Catholic Church, receiving the Honorius Denarius Award from the Bishop in 1997 for charity work she had done there; a Pink Lady at Lafayette General, serving over 1100 volunteer hours; loved Mardi Gras, serving on the Ladies Committee of the Krewe of Gabriel; a member of La Causerie, and had helped with the Lafayette High School PTA during her childrens’ years there.
Sweetpea lived her life to the fullest, loving her family, treasured friends and her church.
Mrs. Rodgers is survived by two sons and their wives, Tom and Carol Jackson Rodgers of Pensacola, Fla., and Robert and Evalyn Adams Rodgers of Lafayette; one daughter and her husband, Janice and Bill Bolivar of King’s Mountain, N.C.; two sisters, Louise L. Barbour of Crowley and Frances L. Johnson of Lake Charles; one brother and his wife, Leo and Jeanette LeBlanc of Crowley; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Paul (Thelma) LeBlanc of Crowley; and five grandchildren, Alison R. Walmsley of Savannah, Ga., Kimberly Rodgers of Baton Rouge, Calen Rodgers of Pensacola, Fla., Kyle Bolivar and Barrett Bolivar, both of King’s Mountain, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Rodgers; her second husband, Ernie Massimine; two brothers, Paul and Harvey LeBlanc; and a sister, Leona L. MacGregor.
A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations in her memory be made to St. Jules Catholic Church, American Heart Association or to your favorite charity.
Visiting hours will be observed Friday from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
