Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2000, Roberts Cove Church of Christ for James Roland “Jimmy” Melancon, 68, who died at 1 p.m., Monday, May 1, 2000, at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Brother M.J. Mouton and Brother Gil Richard will officiate for the services.
Burial will be held in Arceneaux Cemetery in Mire.
Visitation will be observed on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.
Survivors include his wife, May Domingue Melancon of Crowley; one son, Roland “Tatoo” Melancon and wife, Lynell of Crowley; one daughter, Patricia “Pat” Melancon Guidry and her husband, Paul of Crowley; four grandchildren, Lance P. Guidry, Nina M. Gossen, Tiffany L. Melancon and Jason Melancon; two great-grandchildren, Hayley and Matthew Gossen; two sisters, Ella Cormier of Ragley and Sybil Harrington of Crowley; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Melancon was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donut Melancon; two brothers, Leonard and Roy Melancon; three sisters, Beatrice Hillard, Rose and Bessie Floyd.
Jimmy was a retired janitor from Crowley High School and worked with the Crowley City Police Auxiliary for 24 years.
Pallbearers will be Lance Guidry, Kenneth Harrington, Thomas Gossen, Ronnie Aguillard, Jason Melancon, Paul Guidry, Allen Hillard and Johnny Hanks.

IOTA - Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Eva Rose Doucet, 76, who died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 30 at Jeff Davis Nursing Home.
Father David Broussard officiated for the services. Burial was held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Survivors included two sons, Roger Doucet of Evangeline; one daughter, Janet LaCombe of Iota; two brothers, Roland Pousson of Iota and Gil Pousson of Newton, Texas; one sister, Leta LeJeune of Jennings; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Doucet was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Doucet; and one son, Lawrence Wayne Doucet.
She was retired as a cafeteria worker with the Iota public schools.

Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Ruppert Miller.
He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He was also a mason. He was a loving father and grandfather. Mr. Miller was employed in the oilfield and was a retired farmer.

Mr. Richard was a retired farmer in the Branch community. He was a member of Elizabeth Memorial Baptist Church in Branch and an usher until he could no longer attend church. He was a devoted and loving husband for 61 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Madeline and Walter Richard; one sister, Lena Richard and two brothers, Hillman and Wesley Richard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clement “Clarence” Goutreaux; two brothers, Hilton and Ivy Harrington; parents, St. Just and Theosia Leleux Harrington.
Mrs. Goutreaux was a resident of Sulphur until 1997 when she moved to Lafayette. She was a homemaker.

RICHMOND, Texas - After a courageous battle with cancer, Eleanor Frances “Chi Chi” Crawford Coleman of Richmond, Texas, passed away. She was a beautiful, loving, generous, kind person who never closed her heart to anyone. She was born January 11, 1945, and passed away in the comfort of her home May 8, 2000. She was born and grew up in Crowley, La., and attended college at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She spent close to 25 years of her life working for Conoco Inc. in Houston, a job she loved deeply and where she had many friends.
Chi Chi never lost hope in her battle with breast cancer. Her strength and courage were admired by all of those who were part of her life. Chi Chi loved animals and enjoyed fishing and walking along the beach in Galveston.
At the young age of 55 she was taken, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving children, Shannon Coleman Otermat of Houston and John Forrest Coleman III of Richmond, Texas; son-in-law, Steve Otermat of Houston; mother, Shirley Hoffpauir Crawford of Crowley; sister Kayren Mingus of Houston; niece, Elizabeth “Liz” McDaniel of Houston; nephew, William “Bill” McDaniel of Kaplan, many other family members and friends; and her devoted dog, Harding.
Her father George William Crawford precedes her in death.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Oaks and services will be at Memorial Oaks Chapel at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2000.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Forrest Coleman Jr., Edward Shires, Tony Voight, Carlos Rivera, John Mingus and Arthur Otermat.
Contributions may be made in Chi Chi’s honor to Hospice of Houston or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Donald G. Bollinger
Donald G. Bollinger, founder of Bollinger Shipyards, Inc., former Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections and former chairman of the Louisiana Republican Party, died May 13th at St. Anne General Hospital in Raceland after a lengthy illness. He was 85. Mr. Bollinger was born in Raceland, Louisiana and lived in Lockport for over 75 years.
Mr. Bollinger was a faithful member of Holy Savior Catholic Church, was past Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and was awarded the Papal Medal by Pope Paul.
He founded Bollinger Shipyards in 1946 and remained active in marine businesses until his retirement in 1989. Mr. Bollinger was a life member of the Lockport Lions Club having served as it’s president on three different occasions. He served on numerous boards of directors of charitable, educational, civic and business organizations. Gen. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Lee Meaux; and her parents, Joseph and Sarah Scalco.
A native and lifelong resident of Crowley, Mrs. Meaux had been employed as a bookkeeper and by the food stamp office.
She served the unexpired term of her late husband on the City Council.
Mrs. Meaux authored a cookbook, Cook It My Way and won numerous culinary awards. She was named Chef de Riz at the International Rice Festival in 1987. Among other awards she received for her cooking included being named to the Philadelphia Cream Cheese Hall of Fame, overall grand champion of the 1981 Frog Festival Cooking Contest, first place of the Sweet Potato Cooking Contest in 1991, first place in the National Farm Raised Catfish Contest. In 1986, she attended the National Pillsbury Bake-Off.
She was a member of the Les Dames Acadienne Club, the Swinging Sixties, Kajun Kickers and the Council on Aging Elderfitness Class. She had also been a member of the Crowley Homemakers Club.
Pallbearers will include Paul Landry, Francis Grado, Mike Grado, Robert Faulk, Elden Credeur and Bryan Credeur.

Mary Frances Jean Horecky Voitier
CHURCH POINT - Funeral services for Mary Frances Jean Horecky Voitier, 74, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2000, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point.
Mrs. Voitier was born December 8, 1925, and died May 25, 2000, at Doctor’s Hospital in Opelousas. She was a lifelong resident of Church Point.
She graduated from St. Mary’s College in South Bend, Indiana, and was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters and a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church. Mrs. Voitier was a member of the Board of the Acadia-St. Landry Hospital and was the first woman elected to the Board of Farmer’s State Bank & Trust Co., a position she held until her death. She was also an enthusiastic member of the Indian Hills Ladies Golf Association. Among the many honors attained throughout her life, Mrs. Voitier served as the first queen of the Yambilee Festival in St. Landry Parish and as the Grand Marshall of the Buggy Festival in Acadia Parish.
Mrs. Voitier is survived by nine children and their spouses, 20 grandchildren and one sister. Her children are Robert Voitier Jr. and his wife, Vicki; Mary Beth Tolson and her husband, Mark; Paul Albert Voitier, William Voitier and his wife, Susan; Richard Voitier, Ann Voitier, Margaret Fulkerson, Stephen Voitier and his wife, Jackie; and Roy Voitier and his wife, Maureen.
Her grandchildren are Martial, David, Matthew, Lauren, Caroline, Mary Elise, Lizzie, Jim, W.J., Ben, Joseph, Mary Katherine, Madeline, Kate and Jacob Voitier; Robert Roy and John Funderburk; and Michael, Jennifer and Sam Fulkerson.
Her sister is Theresa Clair Burleigh.
She was preceded in death by her husband, M. Robert Voitier Sr.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. Roy Horecky and her brother, Albert Roy Horecky.

Mr. Dartez was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. He was a former eucharistic minister. He was a member of American Legion Post 15. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict.
