Reginald V. Simoneaux
Funeral services will be held Monday Aug. 26, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Reginald "Reggie" V. Simoneaux, Sr., 70, who died Friday at the Lafayette General Hospital.
Survivors include his wife Jeanette Wingate Simoneaux of Rayne; one daughter and her husband Linda and Craig Durio of Rayne; one son R. Victor and his wife Angela Simoneaux, Jr., Monroe; two brothers Jerome and Jules Simoneaux both of Rayne; three sisters Nanette LeBlanc of Rayne, Suzanna Arceneaux of LaPlace, and Paulette Butcher of Lafayette.
Mr. Simoneaux is also survived by four grandchildren Brian Durio, Ian Simoneaux, Jared Simoneaux, and Noelle Simoneaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Solange Lepine Simoneaux.
He was a member of the American Legion, VFW Post 6720, and also the VFW post 6720 Rifle Squad.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. until service time, a Rosary will be recited Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
Entombment will be in the St. Joseph Mausoleum under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

Benjamin Stutes Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 at Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley for Benjamin (Ben) Stutes Jr., 83, of Lake Charles who died at 2:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
Burial will be in Hanks Cemetery in Morse. A rosary was held Wednesday evening at the funeral home chapel.
Visitation began at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening until 10 p.m. and again Thursday at 8 a.m. until the time of the service.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ben (Bertha) Stutes Jr. of Lake Charles; one son, Ronald Stutes of Lake Charles; two grandchildren, Ronald G. Stutes and Molly J. Stutes; one brother, John C. Richard of Iowa; and one sister, Mrs. Charles Pierce of Perry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Joseph Stutes Sr. and Corine Bailleaux Stutes, and two brothers, Kirby Stutes and Luthur Richie.
Stutes served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion W.B. Williamson Post #1 in Lake Charles and the VFW Post of Lake Charles.
He was a native of Midland and a life-long resident of Lake Charles.

Jasper William Shingleton Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23 in the Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Jasper William “Bea” Shingleton Jr.., 75, who died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002 at 5:18 p.m. at American Legion Hospital.
The Rev. L.C. Lord will officiate for the services. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be observed Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. until the tie of the service.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn B. Shingleton of Crowley; two sons, Will Shingleton of Baton Rouge and Tommy Shingleton and his wife Janet of Crowley; one sister, Margaret Prothro of Haughton; four grandchildren, Robert, Blake, Karlie and Kallie Shingleton.
Mr. Shingleton was a veteran of World War II having served his country in the Navy. He was a member of the Crowley Art Association and an avid woodcarver.

Forest Cormier
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley for Forest Cormier, 80, who died at 1:55 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002 at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
A rosary was said Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial was in Acadia Resthaven Cemetery in Crowley with Deacon Rodless Leleux officiating.
Visitation was held Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and again on Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.
Survivors include three sons, John Cormier of Crowley, Terry Cormier of Crowley and Michael Cormier of Columbia, Miss.; three brothers, Horace Cormier of Crowley, Elwood Cormier of Scott and Carl Cormier of Jerom, Idaho; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Cormier; his parents, Joe and Susan Hoffpauir Cormier; and two brothers, Julien and Sam Cormier.
Mr. Cormier retired from the Ford Company as an auto mechanic following 50 years of service. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Zelda Marie
Ceasar Bernard
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27 at Owens-Thomas Funeral Home Chapel for Zelda Marie Ceasar Bernard, 40, who died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002 at Lafayette General Hospital.
The Rev. Donald Burnette Sr. will officiate the services. Interment will be in the West Crowley Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Hubert Bernard; two daughters, Albany and Kayla Bernard of Crowley; two sons, Kelly and Braxton Bernard of Crowley; her mother, Samella Ceasar; five brothers, Alvin Ceasar Jr. of Breaux Bridge, Kenneth Ceasar of Welch, Aaron Ceasar of Las Vegas, Michael Ceasar of Church Point and Darrel Ceasar of Fort Polk; two sisters, Catherine and Marilyn Ceasar of Crowley; five grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Mrs. Bernard was a 1982 graduate of Crowley High School, pursued a career in C.N.A., and was employed at the Crowley Guest House for 16 years.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the time of the services at Owens-Thomas Funeral Home, who was entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Ophelia T. Guidry
OPELOUSAS - Funeral services for Mrs. Ophelia T. Guidry, 75, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas. Burial will be in the Branch Cemeteryon Hwy 365 in Branch.
Mrs. Guidry died at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at Opelousas General Hospital.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Theresa Catholic Church Court 52.
She is survived by seven sons, Ray Allen Jacob and his wife Erma of Lafayette, Robert Ceasar and his wife Shelia of Paris, Texas, Felton Ceasar of Paris, Texas, Oneal Batiste and his wife Tece of Memphis, Tenn., Kermit Trahan and his wife Delores of Crowley, Berry Ceasar of Paris, Texas and Gregory Vallien of Great Falls, Mont.; seven daughters, Angela Guidry of Baker, Lonza Freeman and her husband Mike of Crowley, Antoinette Broussard of Crowley, Sandra Jolivette and her husband Howard of Opelousas, Barbara Evans of Lake Charles, Enolia Guidry of Church Point and Tekeilia Trahan of Oakland, Calif.; two sisters, Elsie Richard and Marie Chenier of Opelousas; 15 grandchildren, and a host of foster children, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Guidry was preceded in death by her husband, Plaise Guidry; her parents, Sidney and Florence Thibodeaux; four brothers, Jack, Felix, Rufus and Raymond Thibodeaux; and three sisters, Ethel Papillion, Audrey Duckless and Ann Manne.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, with a rosary at 9 a.m. at the funeral home.

Ophelia Thibodeaux Smith
Graveside services for Ophelia Thibodeaux Guidry, 85, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 at Woodlawn Mausoleum in Crowley with Fr. David Broussard officiating. Mrs. Smith died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Mrs. Smith is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Smith; five brothers, Euzeb, Aldes, Weba, Maurice and Willie Thibodeaux; three sisters, Euzied Mouton, Effie Leger and Flavie Hargrave.
Visitation will be at the Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2 and from 8 a.m. Saturday until service time. A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday evening.

Melton Joseph Breaux
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley for Melton Joseph Breaux, 52, who died Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at 10:30 p.m. at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Burial will be in Abshire Cemetery in rural Kaplan. A Rosary will be said Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Visitation will begin on Friday at noon with closing at 10 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service.
Survivors include two daughters, Desiree Breaux and Misty Breaux, both of Houma; one son, Elton Breaux of Houma; four brothers, Ronald Breaux, Jesse Breaux and Walter Patrick Breaux, all of Crowley, and David Wayne Breaux of McCall, Ala.; one sister, Clara Joyce Breaux of Alabama.
Breaux is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elton Breaux Jr., and one brother, Georgia Ray Breaux.

TOPEKA, KANSAS – Lourine M. Bruening, 84, died Thuesday, Aug. 1, 2002 at a Topeka area hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Topeka under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home of Topeka.

RAYNE – Alphe Joseph Lavergne Sr., 64, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002 at 11:22 p.m. at Crowley American Legion Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A rosary will be said Sunday evening at 7 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne.

Mrs. Carita Anna Terry Mauboules
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2002 in the Chapel at Delhomme’s Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, Louisiana, for Carita Anna Terry Mauboules, age 99 years 10 months, who died on August 1, 2002 at her home in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Interment will take place at Lafayette Memorial Park, 2111 W. Pinhook Road, Lafayette, Louisiana.
Mrs. Mauboules was born on October 25, 1902, the daughter of the late Dr. Charles Ernest Terry, M.D. and the former Marie Regina Mouton, a native of Jennings, Louisiana. After the death of her father in 1918, Mrs. Mauboules moved to Lafayette with her mother and sister to live with her grandparents, the late Antoine Emile Mouton and former Philomene Cora Louaillier, becoming the close companion of her beloved grandfather.
Mrs. Mauboules was first married to Dorsey Peckham of Crowley, Louisiana, of which union Mrs. Mauboules’ only child, Cora Elizabeth Peckham, was born. Cora Elizabeth Peckham died of measles and pneumonia at age 2 on February 23, 1924. Mrs. Mauboules married Benton W. Mauboules of Rayne, Louisiana in 1934, who preceded her in death inn 1980.
Survivors include her only sister, Melba Terry Shelton; and, two nieces and a nephew, Carita Shelton Boutte, Mignon Shelton Wilson and Thomas Robert Shelton, all of Lafayette, Louisiana. Mrs. Mauboules enjoyed a special, loving relationship with Jolie L. Shelton, who became her surrogate daughter through mutual love, respect and affection. Mrs. Mauboules is survived by six grandnieces and one grandnephew, namely, Carita Boutte Curfman, Charlotte Boutte Thibodeaux, Eleanor Boutte Lipps, Victoria Wilson Seese, Terry Wilson Bryant, J. Elise Shelton-Daly and Thomas H. Shelton II.
Mrs. Mauboules, known to all as “Nanny,” was a loving, caring, and generous friend to all who knew her. She was honored to have several namesakes: Carita Shelton Boutte, Carita Boutte Curfman, Carita Gaiennie Arnold, Carita Jumonville Lambert, and Carita Romero Leger. To her great joy, Mrs. Mauboules was the godmother of numerous children, namely, Carita Shelton Boutte, Jeanette Plauche Parker, Carita Gaiennie Arnold, Carita Jumonville Lambert, Victoria Wilson Seese, and A. Byron Core.
Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Robert Shelton, A. Byron Core, Thomas H. Shelton, II, Perry George Curfman, Keith Thibodeaux, Eugene Lipps, Mark B. bryant, Jeffery Seese, and James E. Daly.
The family of Mrs. Mauboules wish to express their gratitude to Nanny’s long time caregivers, Rita Benoit, Laura Benoit Citizen and Ernestine Brown, for their devotion and loving kindness.

Don L. “Butch” Figard, Jr.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 5, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of mary Catholic Church for Don L. “Butch” Figard, Jr., 51, who died at 8:57 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2002 at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Fr. Joseph Greenwell will officiate for the services. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 9 a.m. until service time on Monday. A rosary will be recited Sunday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores T. Figard of Crowley; two daughters, Kelly F. Stelly and her husband Corey of Lafayette, and Rachel Figard of Crowley; one sister, Donella F. Abshire and her husband Russell of Lafayette; one brother, John Michael Figard and his wife Darlene of Rayne; his mother-in-law, Amae Gaspard and her friend William “Pop” Duhon of Crowley; two sisters-in-law, Cathy Ashworth and her husband Larry of Crowley and Dewanna Schexnayder of Rayne; three brothers-in-law, Mike Trahan and his wife Belinda of Crowley, Ricky Trahan and his wife Rhonda of Crowley, and Dexter Stafford of Crowley.
“Butch” was preceded in death by his parents, Don L. Figard, Sr. and Evelyn Foreman Figard; and, one sister-in-law, Jackie T. Stafford.

Mrs. Erise (Anita) Duhon Sr.
KAPLAN - Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church for Mrs. Erise (Anita) Duhon Sr., 100 years of age, who died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002.
Burial was in Kaplan Cemetery with Rev. Lloyd Benoit officiating.
She is survived by one son, Erise Duhon Jr. of Torrance Calif.; three daughters, Ella Ronsonette of Bridge City, Texas, Enix Guidry of Kaplan and Mary Lou Johnson of Buna, Texas; forty-three grandchildren, 112 great-grandchildren, 77 great-great-grandchildren and three great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Erise Duhon Sr.; two sons, J.L. and Roicy Duhon; three daughters, Elsie Faulk, Wilda LeMaire and Joyce Bertrand; and five grandchildren.
Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan conducted all funeral arrangements.

Daisy Foreman Latour
Daisy Foreman Latour, 89, was born Feb. 18, 1913, and died Aug. 3, 2002, at 7 p.m. at the Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette. Mrs. Latour was the former Daisy Foreman. She was from the Judice Community.
She was known as "Aunt Daisy" as well as liked by all. She was an excellent cook and hostess.
Mrs. Latour had a strong belief in the Bible and, as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, she taught this to many people as well as lived by these teachings for more than 50 years.
She is survived by one niece, Willa Mae Duhon Marietta of the Ridge Community; two great nieces, Mrs. John (Geneva) Ellis of Orange, Texas, and Mrs. Calvin (Betty) Robinson of the Ridge Community; one great nephew Larry Marietta and his wife Sandra Dale of Crowley.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, John Louis "J.L." Latour of Carencro; her parents, Alton and Anita Breaux Foreman; two sisters, Corinne Foreman Duhon, and Mable Foreman Boudreaux; one brother Clyde Foreman.
The family would like to thank her many physicians who cared for her, but special thanks to Dr. Chu for her understanding and compassion and excellent care.
Memorial services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Lafayette West Congregation, 2203 Fieldspan, Friday, Aug. 9, at 2 p.m. Call 873-3720 if more information is needed.

GUEYDAN – Lucien Fontenot, 82, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002 at 8 a.m. at his residence in Gueydan. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7 at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Gueydan Cemetery under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Gueydan.

Catherine Mae Harrison White
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church for Catherine Mae Harrison White, 73, who died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002 in Houston.
The Rev. Donald Burnette will officiate the services. Visitation at church can be observed Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the West Crowley Cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Billy Ray White of Boise, Idaho; her daughter, Brenda Faye White-Wilkerson of Houston; three brothers, Theron Malone Harrison Sr. of Crowley, Ireland Alvin Harrison of Modesto, Calif. and Ralph Milton Harrison of Crowley.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie White; her father, Buster Cal Harrison; her mother, Mary Hill Harrison; and five brothers, Joseph Wayne Harrison, Cal Marvin Harrison, Granvel Gale Harrison, Aubrey Glenn Harrison and Garland Rural Harrison.
Mrs. White was a teacher for the Acadia Parish School Board for 13 years and several years in the North Forest Independent School District in Houston.

Hazel Sittig Watkins
Funeral services for Hazel Sittig Watkins, 82, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.
The Rev. Louie Richard, pastor, officiated for the services. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation was observed from 4 until 10 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until the time of services Saturday. A rosary was prayed at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Mrs. Watkins died at 12:40 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at her residence in Crowley.
Survivors include five daughters, Delia W. Comeaux of Topsy, Freda W. Daigle of Scott, Bernadette W. Primeaux of Crowley, Emily W. Roy and Cindy W. Redlich, both of Estherwood; one step-daughter, Irene Bowers of Duson; one brother, Robert Sittig Jr. of Jennings; seven sisters, Jean Myers and Beverly Pellerin, both of Dayton, Texas, Geraldine Morvant, Vera Chaisson and Linda Neal, all of Jennings, Shirley Saltzman of Spring, Texas, and Evelyn Faye Lantz of Kinder; 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Watkins was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Watkins; and one son, Fred Watkins.

Ogden J. Breaux
MERMENTAU - Funeral services for Ogden J. Breaux, 71, will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
The Rev. Rusty Richard will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be observed from 11:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. Monday until the time of the services. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Sunday.
Mr. Breaux died at 5:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at Jennings American Legion Hospital.
He was a native and resident of Mermentau. He was a retired manager of Berry Brothers and Landry Auto Parts for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Rena L. Breaux of Mermentau; two sons, Dennis Breaux and his companion Kerry of Sutherland, Neb., and Terry Breaux and his wife Rosemary of Port Saint Lucie, Fla.; one daughter, Wanda Faye Bonnie and her husband Don of Mermentau; one brother, John Breaux of Lafayette; three sisters, Rita Guidry of Mermentau, Vera Boudreaux and her husband Wayne of Muskegon, Mich., and Ouanita Leger of Mermentau; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Rose Anna D. Dupont Williams
RAYNE - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14 at The Shrine of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church for Rose Anna D. Dupont Williams, 75, who died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002 at her residence.
The Rev. Richard Wagner will be the celebrant of the Mass. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
A resident of Rayne, she spent many years working as a nursing assistant at the former Rayne-Branch Hospital and was the owner of Rose’s Beauty Shop. She delighted in caring for ill family members and friends.
Survivors include her aunt, Mable Adams of Houston; three sons, Melvin Dupont Sr. and his wife Helen, Peter Dupont Jr. and his wife Bernice, and John Nicholas Dupont and his wife Debra of Rayne; two daughters, Lee Ethel Dupont of Rayne and Alexia Williams and her husband Curitis Nicholson of Gramercy; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Duhon and Elnora Duhon of Rayne; one step-sister, Rena Henry; one step-brother, Leonce Pierre; 13 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Alice Duhon; two husbands, Peter Dupont Sr. and Albert Williams; one son, Joseph Dupont; a sister, Lee Ethel Duhon; two brothers, Clifton and John Duhon, and one grandchild, Vonetta Dupont.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 14 at the Shrine of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Rayne from 7:30 a.m. until the time of the services.

Vernice M. Orgeron
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16 for Vernice M. Orgeron, 89, who died at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2002 at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
The Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Marshall Boulet, Miss Orgeron’s nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Felix Orgeron, and a brother, Elmo Orgeron.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Hughit Boulet of Crowley and Mrs. Robert Rogers of Baton Rouge, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Miss Orgeron had worked for the Social Security Administration as a claims adjustor, prior to that, she had worked for the Louisiana Dept. of Welfare. She was also Crowley City Judge Dennis Canan’s personal assistant for seven years.
After retiring from the Social Security Administration, Miss Orgeron remained active in church and community affairs. She was a member of the Crowley Chamber of Commerce, the Ladies Altar Society at St. Michael Church, and the Serra Club.
Because Miss Orgeron donated her body to science for medical research, there will be no wake or funeral.

Effie Mary LeJeune Klumpp
TEE-MAMOU - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13 at St. Jules Catholic Church in Tee-Mamou for Effie Mary LeJeune Klumpp, 95, of Tee-Mamou. She died at 5:05 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002 at her residence.
Officiating for the funeral service will be Fr. Mark Derise, pastor of St. Jules Church.
Mrs. Klumpp was a member and past president of the St. Jules Ladies Altar Society. She began selling Avon in the Tee-Mamou area at age 61 and continued for ten years. She had many hobbies including gardening, playing Scrabble and playing baseball with her grandchildren every Easter. She could still hit the ball at age 93.
She was a devoted wife of 60 years and a wonderful mother to seven children who will always remember her for her keen sense of humor and her love of family and friends.
Mrs. Klumpp is survived by four daughters, Lovie K. Henderson and her husband Jonike of New Caney, Texas, Ramona Klumpp of Lafayette, Gertie K. Benoit and her husband Leo of Tee-Mamou, and Sandra K. Simar of Evangeline; two sons, Harold Dean Klumpp and his wife Ruth Ann, and Donavan Klumpp Sr. and his wife Jo-Rita, all of Tee-Mamou; two sisters, Della Bergeron of Tepetate and Ivy Bergeaux of Tee-Mamou; one brother, Bryan “Billy” LeJeune and his wife Evelyn of Jennings; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Caffery (Tene) LeJeune of Eunice; 18 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roman Klumpp; a daughter, Audrey K. Young; three brothers, Caffery, Kermit and Buford LeJeune; two sisters, Blanche and Wanda Ruth LeJeune, and two infant grandchildren.
Her family would ike to extend a special thanks to her three devoted caregivers, Wanda Atkinson, Ruby Bergeaux and Ruby Deshotel.
Pall bearers will be Cary Mark Benoit, Donavan “Rusty” Klumpp, Shane and Ashley Trahan, Jamie Simar and Michael Dean Klumpp.
Honorary pall bearers are Keith and Chris Klumpp, Harry Wood and Justin LeJeune.
Visitation will be observed from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. until services Tuesday. A rosary will be recited Monday evening at 7 p.m. Interment will be at the Klumpp family cemetery in Tee-Mamou.

CHURCH POINT – Mrs. Earline LeJeune, 85, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002. at 10:52 p.m. at Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in St. Edwards Cemetery in Richard under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point.

CHURCH POINT – Miss Etta Guidry, 100, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at Crowley American Legion Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point.

Ferne Harrelson Carlin
Funeral services for Ferne Harrelson Carlin, 84, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Crowley with Fr. Louie Richard officiating. She died at 5:13 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002 at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Mrs. Carlin owned and operated Ferne’s Beauty Shop in Crowley for nearly 30 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Pam Gay and her husband Cleve of Crowley and Maureen Stewart and her husband Chuck of Altus, Okla.; a brother, Sherman Harrelson Jr. of Monroe; two sisters, Ethel Ruth Guillory of Monroe and Weta Clark and her husband Durwood; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilton Carlin; two brothers, Vance and Carl Ray Harrelson, and a grandson, Jude Gay.
Visitation will be at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley from 3:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. Thursday until service time.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rufus Fruge
BRANCH - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16 at St. Edmund Catholic Church for Mrs. Rufus Fruge, 88, who died at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002.
Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate the services. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday evening. Burial will be in the church cemetery in Branch.
Visitation was observed Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. and again on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the services.
Survivors include one son, Gary Fruge of Branch; one daughter, Rita Kay Barousse of Branch; six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A native of Maxie and a lifelong homemaker in Branch, the former Flossie Martin is preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Fruge.
Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rose Mae Bennette
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 at Bethel C.M.E. in Crowley for Mrs. Rose Mae Bennette, 65, who died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002 at her Crowley residence.
The wake will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bethel C.M.E. Burial will be in the West Crowley Cemetery with Rev. Julius Jones officiating.
She is survived by her husband, Emory Bennette Jr. of Crowley; three daughters, Kathy Johnson of Houston, Dorothy Prejean of Lafayette and Byrtle Hollier of Crowley; one son, David Bennette of Houston; two brothers, Leo Mouton and Leemya Mouton of Crowley; three sisters, Della Scott, Virginia Thibo and Rachel Mouton, all of Crowley; her Godson, Leo Mouton of Beaumont, Texas; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

JENNINGS – Rose Marie Bergeaux, 72, died at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 at Jennings American Legion Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel with whom arrangements have been entrusted. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

JENNINGS – Clarence Lewis Jr., died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002 at Jennings American Legion Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 at Raphael Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings of whom arrangements have been entrusted.

RICHARD – Olan LeJeune 92, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002 at Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 at St. Edward Catholic Church. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point.

Levin Abshire
LAKE CHARLES - Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Margaret’s Catholic Church for Levin Abshire, 76, of Kaplan who died at 2:55 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2002 in Abbeville General Hospital.
Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery.
Mr. Abshire was a native of Vermilion Parish and lived in Lake Charles for over fifty years. He lived in Grand Lake for seven years before moving to Kaplan two years ago.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. today until 10 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A rosary will be Monday at 6 p.m.
Mr. Abshire was a retired painting contractor. He was the former president of the Painting and Decorating Contractor’s of America and a member of Painter’s Local #783. He was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He was a member and Grand Knight of K.C. Council 3208 and a member of Msgr. Cramer’s Assembly of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was also a charter member of the St. Mary of the Lake Knights of Columbus Council.
Mr. Abshire served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and he was a member of W.B. Williamson Post #1 of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife Ruby A. Abshire of Kaplan; four sons, Kenneth Abshire of Hayes, VA., Terry Abshire of Grand Lake, Troy Abshire of Lewisville, TX and Scott Abshire of Huffman, TX; three daughters, Sandy Mire of Hackberry, Jo Hebert of Grand Lake and Mitsi Taylor of Cameron; four stepsons, Jim Harrington of Houston, Delfred Harrington of Kaplan, Rick Harrington of Mire and L.J. Harrington of Crowley; two stepdaughters, Peggy Lantier of Maurice and Dolores LeBlanc of Lafayette; 41 grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Tony Abshire and his wife, Bernice “Mamma Bea” Abshire.

RAYNE – Mrs. Nydia Constantin, 92, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002 at 3:40 a.m. at Rayne Guest Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne. Burial will be in the church cemetery #2 under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home in Rayne.

CHURCH POINT – Miram Harmon, 93, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002 ar 9:04 a.m. at Cornerstone Village North in Lafayette. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 at Guidry Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Our Lady of Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Church Point. Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Hazel Simon Henry, 91, who died at 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
The celebrant will be Fr. Bill Rokowski.
Visitation will be observed Thursday from 8 a.m. until time of services. The rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Thursday.
Survivors include one daughter, Catherine d’Epinoy of Paris, France; seven grandchildren, Dr. Simone Little N.D. of Morse, Chet Henry Adams of Orange Beach, Ala., Marc d’Epinoy of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Dr. Sabina Henry N.D. of Austin, Texas, Mann Grueber of Paris, France, Mrs. Sara Gannon of Asia and Brian Henry of Houston, Texas; one brother, Rodney J. Simon of Kaplan; one sister, Mrs. Evelyn S. Verret of Abbeville, and eight great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Henry; a son, Albert (Boy-Blue) Henry Jr.; a grandson, Thomas Andrew Henry; and two sisters, Mrs. Isabell Broussard and Mrs. Rena Badon.
Mrs. Henry was a devoted wife, loving mother, great homemaker, and had a special place in her heart for her pets, Sassy, Thomas and Crystal.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnson St., Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503-3240, the Lafayette Art Association Bead Grant for South Crowley Elementary or the Morse Public Library.

Delta Breaux Lasserre
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Delta Breaux Lasserre, 86, who died Sunday evening at 10:10 p.m. in the Landmark Retirement Home in Crowley.
Fr. James Nguyen will officiate for the Funeral Mass and will pray the rosary at 6 p.m. Monday evening.
She is survived by three nephews, Bobby Breaux of Crowley, Ellis Breaux of Lake Charles and Donald Breaux of Lafayette; three nieces, Carrie T. Voinche of Crowley, Betty T. Miller of Lafayette and Anna Belle Gow of Lake Charles; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Curley Lasserre; her parents, Ozer and Leah Richard Breaux; two sisters, Leta Thibodeaux and Hattie Richard; and two nieces, Lutha Bossley and Rita Foreman.
