Lucille V. Mills
Mrs. Lucille V. Mills, 74, died Thursday, July 12, 2001, at her residence in Lake City.
Born in Norfolk, Va., Mrs. Mills lived in Lake City since 1960, having moved from West Palm Beach. Mrs. Mills was of the Holiness faith and a member of the Holiness Faith Church of Norfolk.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, George C. Mills; six sons, George Jr. (Mary) of Daytona Beach, Gerald H. of Connecticut, Michael W. of Lake City, Donald A. of Seville, Ohio, James E. (Sharon) and John D. (Charlotte), all of Lake City; one daughter, Marsha Diann Patrick (James) of Lake City; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Mrs. Mills will be held in Columbia Funeral Home, 1270 E. Duval St., Lake City, at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 15. A service will follow at 5 p.m. and interment
will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 16, in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, State Road 100.

Kirt Tillman
Mr. Kirt Tillman, 81, of Live Oak, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, in Green Cove Springs, terminating an extended illness.
Born in 1919 to the late Mr. Louis and Mrs. Katie Mae Tillman, he was a member of Pleasant Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Bettie, Chris and Tereatha Tillman, all of Lake City; two sons, Stanley and Robert Tillman; devoted ex-wife, Delores Tillman, Lake City,; one stepson, Jimmy Jackson (Virginia); five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Justine Tillman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Kirt Tillman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, in Olivet Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. H.M. Moss, pastor, officiating.
Interment
will follow in Garden of Rest Cemetery.

Simon Watson Sr.
Simon Watson Sr., a pioneer citizen of Fort White, died peacefully at his residence Monday, July 9, 2001, terminating an extended illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Fort White and member of Jerusalem Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Inez T. Watson; one son, James A. Watson Sr. (Bobie), Live Oak; three daughters, Inez W. Davis, Adell W. Gray of Jacksonville, Dasye W. Houston (James D.) of Talladega, Ala.; three brothers; Tally Watson, Virgil Watson, John L. Watson; two sisters, Maggie Campbell, Eula Sheppard; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Daisy Box Watson, Fort White; other relatives and sorrowing friends.
Funeral services for Simon Watson Sr. will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14, in Jerusalem Baptist Church. Interment
will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Fort White.

Rauise Paige, 52, of Sanderson died on Monday, July 9, 2001, after a extended illness.
Mr. Paige was born in Sanderson and is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cahl Paige Rouise. He received his education in the public school system in Baker County and received a teaching degree in Boston. He attended Faith Bible Church in Sanderson under the leadership of Elder Videll Williams.
He is survived by four brothers, James Paige and Elbert Paige, both of Boston, Leon Paige and Raymond Paige, both of Sanderson; two sisters-in-law; five aunts; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday at Faith Bible Church in Sanderson. Interment
will follow in Quitman Cemetery. Caesar's Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Aaron Lester Young
Aaron Lester "A.L." Young, 66, of Jasper died Friday, July 13, 2001, at his home following an extended illness.
The Georgia native was a long-time resident of Jasper. He was a retired farmer and member of Jasper First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joann McNeill Young of Jasper; three sons, Richard L. Young (Mantha) of Jasper., Alan D. Young (April) of Ellabelle, Ga., and John A. Young (Davina) of Waycross, Ga.; one daughter, Donna L. Beauchamp (Randy) of Jasper; one brother, Dr. Bill Young of Tallahassee; three sisters, Sue Hill, Mary Naranjo and Helen Goolsby, all of Jasper; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15, at Jasper First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper.

Carlo J. Arciero, 48, of Lake City died Thursday, July 12, 2001, at Lake City Veterans Affairs Medical Center after an extended illness.
A native of Boston, Arciero moved to Lake City three months ago. He is the son of the late Carlo J. and Louise Jolly Arciero and worked at the VA Medical Center in Boston before his death. He is Marine veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by three sisters, Judy Odom and Kathy Kish, both of Pensacola, and Debra Ann Arciero of Lake City; and one brother, Anthony Arciero of Lake City.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Monday, July 16, in Olustee Cemetery with the Rev. James Croft officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Monday at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 4309 S. First St., Lake City.
Margaret Ruth Brown
Margaret Ruth Brown, 76, of Lake City died Saturday, July 14, 2001, at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville following and extended illness.
A native of Wadley, Ala., Mrs. Brown moved to Lake City in the 1930s before moving to Jacksonville in 1942. She returned to Lake City in 1982. Mrs. Brown was the daughter of the late J.T. and Nina Coker Nix. She worked as a buyer-manager with J.C. Penney Co. before her retirement. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and member and president of Alpha Tau sorority.
She is survived by her husband, James Thomas Brown of Lake City; a daughter, Bernice Brown of Gainesville; a son, Leon J. (Jane) Brown of St. Augustine; two sisters, Elsie Christian of Jacksonville and Sally Viohl of Lake City; four brothers, Wayland Nix, James Nix, Eugene Nix, all of Jacksonville and James Nix of Lake City; two grandchildren, Holly Oosterhoutt and Natalie MaGee; one great-grandson, Kyle Thomas MaGee; and grandson-in-law, George MaGee.

Daisy Bell Smith Isom
Daisy Bell Smith Isom, 84, of Lake City died Friday, July 13, 2001, at Lake City Medical Center.
A native of Branford, Mrs. Isom is the daughter of the late the Rev. Jim and Sara Cannon Bradley. She lived in Lake City for 51 years and was the owner and operator of Bell's Grocery on U.S. 441 North and Lake Lona West from 1959-69 until her retirement in 1970. She was a member of the Lake City Church of God.
She is survived by a son, Floyd (Gloria) Smith of Lakeland; two sisters, Eunice Brown of Lakeland and Ruth Bradley of Odessa; one brother, J.L. Bradley of Tampa; and two grandchildren, Sharlene H. Smith of Clarkston, Ky., and Ted E. Smith of Lakeland.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, at Lake City Church of God with the Revs. Dale Croft and Terry Hull officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Leo J. Lee
Leo J. Lee, 68, of Benton, Ark., died Saturday, July 14, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Lee was a native of Iowa City, Iowa. He was the son of the late Lester and Josephine Scott Dailey. He was a sales manager for Schwans Inc., a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Benton and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Finney Lee of Benton; four sons, Ron (Colette) Lee of Benton, Rocky (Amy) Lee of Lake City, Randy Lee of Lowell, Ark., Ricky (Sarah) Lee of Rowlett, Texas; daughters Lori (Brad) Brunner and Sandra (Craig) Vote, both of Livermore, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton, followed by family visitation. Thera McClendon Morris, 79, of Crawfordville died Friday, July 13, 2001.
Mrs. Morris was a native of Wauchula and lived in Lake City for a number of years. She was a homemaker and member of Advent Christian Church.
She is survived by a son, Donald Richard McClendon of Crawfordville; a daughter, Thera Burdene Kirby of Roswell, Ga.; two sisters, Evie Sparks of Lake City and Mary Lou Atwell of Jacksonville; two brothers, Amos P. Geiger of Bronson and James Geiger of Aripeka; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Fred A. Townsend
Fred A. Townsend, 90, of Lake City died Sunday, July 15, 2001, at his home after an extended illness.
A native of Williston, Mr. Townsend lived in Lake City all of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Lou Townsend. He is the son of the late Madison Baity and Alice M. Jerrell Townsend. He was a member of Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Lake City.
Survivors include a daughter, Annette Merry of Tallahassee; two sons, Wayne (Gwen) Townsend of White Springs and Marvin (Virginia) Townsend of Lake City; two sisters, Marie Miller of Ocala and Marjorie Young of Fairfield; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, in the Sherill-Guerry Memorial Chapel with Brother Herman Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Lake City.

Roy James Wilson
Roy James Wilson, 82, of Fort White, died Friday, July 13, 2001, in Shands hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville following an extended illness.
Mr. Wilson lived in Fort White all of his life and was the son of the late James P. and Ora Mae Dukes Wilson. He owned and operated his farm north of Fort White for about 60 years and was a licensed journeyman electrician for many years. He was a deacon with Elim Baptist Church in Fort White and member of Cherry Hill Masonic Lodge No. 12 in Fort White and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union in Gainesville and was a former trustee for the Columbia County School Board in Lake City.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie Nell Wilson of Fort White; three daughters, Judy (Jack) Phillips of Pensacola, Martha (Robert) Floyd of High Springs and Sonja (Billy) Wilsey of Alachua; one son, Russell J. (Sandy) Wilson of Fort White; three sisters, Idell Cason of Atlanta, Eva Mae Trucluck of High Springs and Jean Rowe of Fort White; four brothers, Dan Wilson of High Springs, Alton Wilson of Fort White and Jack Wilson and Floyd Wilson, both of Atlanta; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, July 16, at Elim Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Knight officiating and Warren Hollingsworth and Robert Martin assisting. Richard S. Diefenderfer Jr.
Mr. Richard S. Diefenderfer Jr., 37, of Fort White, died suddenly early Sunday morning, July 8, 2001, at his residence.
A native of North Miami, Mr. Diefenderfer had been a resident of Fort White for the last three years, having moved here from Fort Lauderdale. Mr. Diefender-fer had worked as an automobile mechanic and loved to do landscape work. Mr. Diefenderfer was of the Catholic faith. He loved to fish, landscape, work with his bonsai trees, boating on the local rivers and his animals.
Mr. Diefenderfer is survived by his wife of 17 years, Belquis Diefenderfer; a son, Jagger A. Diefenderfer; a daughter, Felicia S. Diefenderfer, all of Fort White; his father and stepmother, Richard S. Diefenderfer Sr. (Berle), Lady Lake; his mother, Andrea Diefenderfer, Fort Lauderdale; a brother, Michael Diefenderfer, Fort Lauderdale; a stepbrother, Donald Gasgarth, Atlanta; a sister, Michelle Lee, Fort Lauderdale; and a stepsister, Tammy Garrett of Ocala.
Services for Mr. Diefenderfer will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 19, in Biggs Memorial Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Private family interment

Bobby Floyd
Mr. Bobby Floyd, 59, of Lake City, died Friday evening, July 13, 2001, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
A native of Hazelhurst, Ga., Mr. Floyd had been a resident of Lake City for the last 20 years, having moved here from Brooksville. Mr. Floyd had been employed as an automobile mechanic. He enjoyed "tinkering" with cars as a hobby. Mr. Floyd was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Floyd was predeceased by his father, Buddy Floyd, and two brothers, Johnny and Lonnie Floyd.
Mr. Floyd is survived by his two sons, Glenn Floyd and Wendell Floyd, both of Hazelhurst; his mother, Louise Floyd, High Springs; three brothers, Billy Floyd, A.J. Floyd and Jerelton Floyd, all of Lake City; four sisters, Ann Hodges, Hilliard, Betty Gunn, Faye Johns and Jacqueline Dye, all of Lake City; four grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Elder Manager Hill, 75, of Olustee, passed away July 12, 2001, at Lake City Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
He was a native of Panama City and lived in Olustee many years. He retired from the U.S. Forestry Service. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife, Neda Hill; sons Emanuel Hill of Panama City, James Mackey (Joyce) of Palm Coast; daughters Charlotte Hill of Panama City, and Wanda George ( Bernard); an uncle, Freddie Gaines of Lake City; a sister, Mae Ridley of Ashboro, N.C.; brothers Jessie L. Hill and Cisro Hill, both of Bushnell.

Sarajane Strickland
Mrs. Sarajane Strickland, 71, of Lake City, died Monday, July 16, 2001, at her daughter's residence in Lake City following a long illness.
A native of Chicago, Mrs. Strickland had been a resident of Tampa, for most of her life before moving to Lake City four years ago. Mrs. Strickland was a Methodist and had been attending Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Lake City.
Mrs. Strickland is survived by her son, Frank Walter High (Rose) of Ocala.; four daughters, Pennie Harrell (Bill) of Lake City, Lois Bloodsaw (Jimmy) of Tampa, Diana "Dee" Scott (Mac Chappell) of Dublin, Ga., Roberta Jean "Bobbie" Ling (Earl) of Lake City, seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Wyatt Baker Jr.
Mr. Wyatt Baker Jr., 59, of Lake City, died Friday, July 13, 2001, in the emergency room of Shands at Lake Shore hospital after illness.
He was born Aug. 4, 1941, to the late Wyatt and Blanche Baker. He was raised in the Winfield Community where he attended Columbia County Public Schools. Wyatt accepted Christ at an early age at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. James Rowe. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Ella Mae Washington. From this union three children were born. One child, David Baker, preceded him in death. Wyatt was employed with Waste Control for 28 years. Prior to his retirement.
Survivors are two children, Stephen Baker (Lutricia) and Diane Hemingway (John) of Lake City, a stepson, Ellis Washington (Patricia) of Dallas, two brothers, Rufus and Edward Baker, three sisters, Vertie Ingrham (Harold), Cephelia Baker and Mamie Baker of Lake City, five uncles, Hosey Baker, Ervin Baker (Missouri) of Jasper, Charlie Baker of Daytona, Rossie Robinson (Georgia Ann) of Lake City, and Lloyd Robinson of Dallas; two aunts, Frannie Wilson (Eddie) of Valdosta, Ga., and Annie Mae Daily of Leesburg, 13 grandchildren; one great uncle, three great aunts, a special friend, Lucinda Wimberlyn, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Ms. Jacqueline Evette Browning, 37, of 401 Chestnut St. in Lake City, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at North Florida Regional Hospital, terminating an extended illness.
Born in Columbia County, she was the daughter of Preston Lanes and Dorothy Jean Richardson. She received her education in the public schools of Columbia County. Accepting Christ as her personal savior, she was a member of Mount Pisgah AME Church, the Rev. Mark Crutcher, pastor.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted mother, Dorothy Jean Richardson; brothers and sisters, JoAnn and Mikerl Felton, Waymon and Denise Brown, Marvin and Michell Richardson, Randy Spencer, Darrell Butler, Mattie Ruth Roberson, and Pinkie and Marshall Carter; a goddaughter, Tanika English; a godbrother, William and Amelia Harris; godmother, Betty Murphy and Emma Clark; grandmother, Namni Jernigan, other relatives and friends.
