Anna Dorothy Geiger
Ms. Anna Dorothy Geiger of Lake City died early Tuesday morning, November 13, 2001 at her residence.
A native of Baltimore City, Maryland. Ms. Geiger resided in Towson, Maryland prior to moving to Lake City in 2000. Ms. Geiger was of the Methodist faith. One special hobby which Ms. Geiger enjoyed was traveling. Ms. Geiger was preceded in death by her faithful companion of forty two years, Ms. Anna Marie Baynie in 1995. Ms. Geiger is survived by one sister, Mrs. Margaret Didusch of Belleview, Fl, Nieces, Patricia Sauer, Pamela Fairfax, Ann Klein, Linda Sue Baker, Hilda Brugh, Frances Baker and Peggy Vance. Several other nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews also survive.
A memorial service for Ms. Geiger will be conducted Sunday, November 18, 2001 at 3:00 P.M. in the Biggs Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeff Brown officiating. Elsie May Johnson
Elsie May Johnson, 65, a resident of O'Brien, Florida, died Wednesday, No-vember 14, 2001 after an extended illness.
Mrs. Johnson has resided in O'Brien for the past six years, coming from Ft. Lauderdale. She was of the Christian faith, and a member of the Christian Family Worship Center in High Springs, Florida where she was also a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed her computer, staying in touch with her classmates, crafts, collecting antiques and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of forty-seven years, Norman Johnson, O'Brien, Florida; one son: Max (Cindy) Johnson, O'Brien, Florida; two daughters: Wanda (Bob) Laning, Springfield, Georgia;
Dawn (Mark) Erickson, Ellabell, Georgia; one sister: Lilah Kilbury, Sunrise, Florida; Six grandchildren: Jason & Jessica Johnson, Jeremy Erickson, DeAnna Shuman, Miles Erickson and Ricky Verricst; also surviving is one great-grandchild: Skyler Shuman.
Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be conducted on Saturday, November 17, 2001, 2:00 P.M., in the Sherrill-Guerry Memorial Chapel with Pastor Loyd Williams and Pastor Rufus Cannon officiating. Interment

Mose Newton, age 65 resident of Lake City, Fla. died Friday, November 9, 2001 at Shands at Lake Shore Hospital following an illness.
He was the son of the late Elouise & Raymond Newton. He was a native and life-long resident of Columbia County and attended the public school here.

Emogene Moody
Mrs. Emogene Moody of Lake City died late Tuesday evening November 13, 2001 in the Lake City Medical Center.
A native of Brooker, Florida, Mrs. Moody had lived most of her life in Gainesville prior to moving to Lake City in 1994. She was the daughter of the later Mr. & Mrs. Henry Mark and Vera Collins. Mrs. Moody was a member of the 1959 graduating class of Gainesville High School. Mrs. Moody was formerly employed in many retailing stores in Gainesville as well as working for fifteen years with the Alachua County School Board. Mrs. Moody was a Jehovah's Witness.
Mrs. Moody was preceded in death by two husbands, Mr. Earnest Bass in 1972 and Mr. Alfred Hudson in 1991.
Mrs. Moody is survived by two sons, Mark Bass and Limmuel Bass both of Gainesville, two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Swilley (Beryl), Earleton, FL and Mrs. Geraldine Truman (Gaylord), Interlachen, FL.

Mr. Ervin Pasco Taylor, 70, of Lake Butler died Friday morning, November 16, 2001, in the Shands Hospital at Gainesville after a brief illness.
He was born in Columbia County, living most of his life in Union County. Retired heavy equipment operator with Union County Road Dept. He was of Baptist Faith.
He is survived, by his wife of 53 years, Pauline M. Taylor of Lake Butler. 6 Daughters: Katie Feagle of Alachua, Faye Luke of Providence, Gail Poole of Lake Butler, Patricia Parrish of Providence, Yvonne Osborne of Worthington Springs, Teresa Tomlinson of Lake Butler. 4 Sons: Jerry L. Taylor of Fast Haven, Conn., Gary Taylor of Lake Butler, Greg Taylor of Lake City, Ronald Taylor of Providence. 2 Brothers: Clarence Taylor of Lake City and Edward Taylor of Highsprings. 2 Sisters: Geneva Bishop of Lake Butler and Mary Jones of Trenton. 25 Grandchildren and 25 Great Grandchildren.

Sadie Lou "Jeanie" Tyre Jackson
Sadie Lou "Jeanie Tyre Jackson, age 89, of White Springs, FL passed away Saturday, Nov. 27 at Avalon Healthcare in Lake City, FL. The Columbia County, native was a longtime resident of White Springs, FL. She was a homemaker and member of Huntsville Methodist Church in Lake City. Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, Bartow Jackson and two sons, Raymond Jackson and Wayne B. Jackson.
Survivors include three sons, Rufus "R.J." Jackson (Bertha), Dewey Jackson (JoAnn), All of Lake City, FL and Theodore Jackson, White Springs, FL: Two daughters,Florine Labadie, White Springs, FL and Vivian Griffis (Edward), Lake City, FL; Six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, Nov. 20 at Huntsville Methodist Church. Interment

Mary "Ann" Bamberg Krozier
Mary "Ann" Bamberg Krozier, age 73, of Odessa, FL and Jasper, FL passed away Friday, Nov. 16 at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. The High Springs, FL native worked for many years as a substitute teaching. She was an accomplished musician and played piano and organ for several years at Lake City First Baptist Church. She gave of her time to many worthwhile organizations helping handicapped children and most recently abused women and children. Mrs. Krozier was a member of Jasper First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Emet Krozier, Odessa, FL; Her son Christopher I. Prescott, Atlanta, GA; Her mother, Lorraine Kiefer, Jasper, FL and two grandchildren, Jason and Lindsey Prescott.
Funeral services will be held at 1;00 pm Monday, Nov. 19 at First Baptist Church in Jasper. The family will receive friends at the church just prior to the service from 12-1:00pm. Interment

Doris G. Caines, age 81, died Tuesday, November 20, 2001 at the Lake City Medical Center.
Mrs. Caines, a Baptist and former sales manager in the retail trade, lived in Lake City for 5 years having moved from Lubbox, TX. Mrs. Caines was preceded in death by her Husband of 64 years, Walter and a son, Charles.
Mrs. Caines is survived by her son, Roger (Marian) of OK, a daughter, Carole (Joe) Graziano of Lake City, a brother, Fulton Duvall of SC, three sis-ters, Evelyn Duvall and Eunice Smith, both of SC and Violet Hullfish of NJ, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Ophelia Copeland, 89, of Wellborn, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2001 in her home after a short illness.
The Adel, GA native moved to Well-born from Plant City sixty years ago. Mrs. Copeland was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, Wellborn. She was preceded by her Husband, J.C. Copeland.

Rev. Mother Ollie M. Graham, 101 of 1105 Coldwater Street, Lake City died Friday November 16, 2001 in the Lake City Medical Center after an illness.
She was born on October 15, 1900 in Osierfield, Georgia to the late Henderson and Mary Sanders. She was the widow of the late Julius O. Graham they were married May 13, 1933 in Dowling Park, FL. In 1942 they moved to Lake City and she became a member of the Church of God in unity. She entered the ministry in the early 1950's and began pastoring in the mid 1960's in Lake City and Branford, FL.
Survivors: are (2) sons Abraham and Alfonso Graham of Lake City, daughters, Evelyn Joyner, Pompano Beach, FL. Maggie Parson, Wray, GA. and Doris Tooten, Live Oak, FL. A host of nieces and nephews. (37) grands (98) great grands and (117) great, great, grands.

Betty Frances Sceals, age 64, died Tuesday, November 20, 2001 at her residence in Lake City while under Hospice care following a long illness.
Born in Auburn, GA, Mrs. Sceals lived in Lake City for 44 years having moved from Rochelle, GA. Mrs. Sceals, a Baptist, was very devoted to her family and is fondly remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Sceals was preceded in death by one son, Steven Wayne Sceals.

Ethel Mae Williams
Mrs. Ethel Mae Williams was born on January 16, 1925 in Lake City, Florida.
She was the second of nine children born to Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Brown. She departed this life on Monday, November 19, 2001 at the Shands at U.F. Hospital Gainesville, FL.
She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. She later joined Dayspring Baptist Church of Lake City, Florida. On August 14, 1943, she was united in Holy Matrimony with the late Edmond Williams.
She is survived by two loving daughters and sons-in-law; Linda and Alfred Roberson of Seattle, WA; Patricia and Nathan Perry, Jr. of Lake City, Florida. Three grandchildren, Carla and Erika Bell of Seattle, WA; Joshua Perry of Lake City, Florida. One great grandson, Carter Edmon Bell-Perry of Seattle, WA; One sister, Gertrude Martin of Miami, Florida; Two brothers, Ralph and Eddie Brown and Cousin, Blanche Carter, all of Lake City, Florida and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Melvin W. Pearce of Suwannee passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2001 at his home.
He was 55 years of age. He was Baptist. He moved from Lake City to Suwannee 13 years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Pearce of Suwannee, son, Tim Pearce of Lake City, daughter, Kim Albritton of Lake City, brother, Gerald Pearce of Lake City, sister, Annie Mae Goulet of Leesburg, and 3 grandchildren.

Hazel G. Godfrey, 89, of Balsam Gove, NC, formerly of Lake City, passed away November 16, 2001, in Brevard, NC.
Her survivors include one daughter, Hazel Langford, of Balsam Gove, NC; one son, James Myers Godfrey, of Springdale, Arkansas; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, one sister, and several nieces and nephews.

Arnold Jackson "Jack" Green
Mr. Arnold Jackson "Jack" Green, 79, a resident of Lake City, Florida, died Monday, November 26, 2001, in the North Florida Regional Medical Center, Gainesville, Fla. following a brief illness.
Mr. Green was a native of Columbia County, Florida, son of the late George W. and Arrie Bullard Green, and had resided in Dayton, Ohio, for many years, prior to returning to Lake City, in 1977.
Mr. Green was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in Germany, under General George Patton. He had been employed by the V.A. Medical Center, in Dayton, Ohio, having worked in the Dietetic Services, un-til his retirement in 1977. Mr. Green was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, Lake City. He was an accomplished fiddle player, and loved hunting and fishing.
Survivors include; his wife of 57 years, Lavoris Green, of Lake City; One son, Douglas (Cindy) Green, of McAlpin; Four daughters, Dianna (Peter) Gillies, Linda (John) Schrader, both of Lake City, Laverne (David) Weaver, of Eaton, Ohio, and Jackie (Billy) Pruett, of Jacksonville; Thirteen Grandchildren, Michael Gillies, of Lake City, Matthew (Leigh) Gillies, of Greenville, S.C., Jack Green, of Dallas, TX, Nicholas Schrader, of Pensacola, Andy Schrader, of Lake City, Emily Weaver and Danny Weaver, both of Eaton, Ohio, Amy Schrader, of Lake City, Jonathan Green and Suzanne Green, both of McAplin, Katie Pruett, of Jacksonville, George Green, of McAlpin, and Alison Pruett, of Jacksonville; One brother, Calvin Green, of Lake City; Four sisters, Elsie North, of Live Oak, Fannie Barton, Nellie Coffee, and Violet Seay, all of Lake City. Carolyn Joyce Jerkins
Carolyn Joyce Jerkins, age 66, died suddenly November 23, 2001 at Shands of Jacksonville. Mrs. Jerkins was born in Jacksonville on November 21, 1935.
She grew up in Fort Myers, FL she moved to Live Oak in 1978 and to Middleburg, FL in 1993. Mrs. Jerkins was a homemaker and retired bookkeeper. Mrs. Jerkins enjoyed gardening, cooking, and had an extensive collection of antique glassware. Mrs. Jerkins was preceded in death by her Son, Michael Wayne Cason.
Survivors include: Husband, Larry Jerkins of Middleburg, Son, David K. Ca-son of Live Oak, Son Tom Bruner of Lake City, Brother John Bruner of LaBelle, FL, 2 Granddaughters, Holly Bruner of Lake City, and Tanya Hills of Naples, FL.

John Albert Pitts, 83, a resident of Lake City died, Sunday, November 25, 2001 after an extended illness.
Mr. Pitts had lived in Lake City since 1945 coming from McRay, Georgia. Mr. Pitts was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. He worked in the Logging Industry for forty years until his retirement in 1973. Mr. Pitts was preceded in death by a daughter, Audrey Pitts. Survivors include his wife: Inell Fulford Pitts, Lake City; seven daughters: Lajuan P. (James) Adkins, Lake City, Willene Pitts, Lake City, Bonnie (Bobbie) John-son, Portland, TN, Laujoy (Jimmy) Walker, Ft. White, Laverne Pitts, Lake City, Janice (Bob) Sherman, Lake City, Annette Pitts, Lake City; three sons: Tommy (Mona) Pitts, Lake City, J.E. Mrs. Flora Devon Carr, age 65, a resident of Lake City, Florida, died at Lake Shore Medical Center on Tuesday, November 27, 2001.
A Perry native, Mrs. Carr had lived in Perry since childhood moving to Columbia and Marion Counties. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Mrs. Carr was a medical secretary for the Lake City Veteran's Hospital retiring after many years of service; she enjoyed arts and crafts, crochet, tatting and spe-cialized in crafting angels.
Mrs. Carr is survived by Her husband of 45 years Luther Carr residing in Lake City, FL; two sons, Eddie Carr of Ocala, Florida and Ken Carr of Lake City; two step daughters, Pam Hatch and Gwen Crenshaw both of Ocala, FL; a brother Robert Griffin of White Springs, FL and a brother in law, Russell Carr of Dunedin, F.; a sister Shirley Griffin of Tampa, Fl., and a Sister in Law, Elease Ray of Tallahassee; 8 step grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren.

Sally N. Coe
Mrs. Sally N. Coe, 94, of Lake City, died early Tuesday morning, November 27, 2001, in the Lake City Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. Coe and her family moved to Northern Ireland when she was just a few months old. She attended the Brookfield Friends School in Moira, Northern Ireland and moved back to the United States in her late teens. She lived in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania until 1930 when she met and married the late M. Harry Coe.They moved to Miami, Florida in the late thirties and came to Lake City in 1971. Mr. and Mrs. Coe were married for forty-eight years prior to his death in 1978. Mrs. Coe was and avid golfer and loved to play bridge. She was a member of the Quail Heights Woman's Association and the St. James Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Coe is survived by a daughter,Pat-ricia Murray, Lake City, Florida; and three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles & Esther Coe, Melbourne, Florida; Donald & Kim Coe and Richard & Laura Coe all of Miami, Florida. Five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.

Helen Maruwski
Mrs. Helen Maruwski, 77, of Lake City, died Friday, November 2, 2001, in the Avalon Health Care Center following an extended illness.
A native of Bessemer, Alabama, Mrs. Maruwski had been a resident of Lake City for many years. Mrs. Maruwski was a homemaker and a member of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Maruwski is survived by a brother Loyd Waldron of Alabama and two nieces Kenneth Jean Dillingham of Richmond, Michigan and Delores Bober of Pennsylvania.

Nora Johnson
Nora Johnson was born on September 2, 1910 to Joe and Lettie Edmond Owens in Kirkland, Alabama. She moved to Florida in 1921 and later married C.J. Johnson. To this Union,four children were born, Two preceding in death. In 1953 she moved to Lake City, FL. She accepted Christ at an early age. However she recommitted her life to Jesus in 1989. She was a member of Community Revival Center, Lake City, FL.
On Tuesday evening, November 27, 2001 at Lake City Medical Center, after an extended illness, she went unto eternal rest. She is survived by one loving and devoted son, Early (Ann) Johnson, Lake City, FL., two daughters, Thelma Hamilton, Brainbridge, GA., and a niece raised as a daughter, Gladys (Clifford) Hunt, Lake City, FL. Also, a loving sister Alberta Green, Lake City, FL., fifteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grands, a devoted niece, Sonya Butts, Lake City, FL., a devoted nephew, James Owens, Lake City, FL., a devoted friend Evelyn Johnson, a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Family visitation hour will be from 6 pm till 7 pm at Combs Funeral Chapel. Funeral services for Mrs. Nora Johnson will be Sunday, December 2, 2001 at 11:00 am at Community Revival Center with Rev. Elder Clyde Douglas, pastor, officiating. Interment
will follow at Olustee Memorial Cemetery.
