Marie M. Rosengrant, 97, a resident of Lake City, Florida died Thursday, November 29. 2001 at Lake City Medical Center after an extended illness.
Mrs. Rosengrant had lived in Lake City since 1987 coming from West Palm Beach. She was of the Catholic faith, and enjoyed working in the yard and taking care of her dog "Doc".
Mrs. Rosengrant was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-nine years, Murlind Rosengrant, Sr. in 1994 and her daughter, Muriel R. Irby in 1953. Survivors include one son; Murlind Rosengrant, Jr., Lake City, Florida and a granddaughter: Malanie I Grier, Macon, Georgia.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rosengrant will be conducted on Monday, December 3, 2001, 1:00 P.M. in the Sherrill-Guerry Memorial Chapel with Father George Kuravilla officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, December 2, 2001 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. Kathleen Louise Duvall
Mrs. Kathleen Louise Duvall, 55, died Friday, November 30, 2001 at her residence after a short battle with cancer. a brother William Blair Galek preceded her in death.
Mrs. Duvall was a resident of Lake City, Florida since 1971, coming from Phoenix, Arizona. Mrs. Duvall attended Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, was President elect 2001 of Lady of the Lake Quilt Guild, member of Edward Rudledge Chapter Daughters of America Revolution also Special events co-chair for D.A.R.
Mrs. Duval is survived by her husband: Clarence Duvall, Lake City, Florida; daughters: Deanna Branscome (Timothy Kicklighter) of High Springs, Florida Jennifer (Omar) Rahman of Muncie, Indiana, Christina Duvall of Atlanta, Georgia, sons: Michael Duvall of Valdosta, Georgia, Clarence Duvall 3rd of Atlanta, Georgia, also four grandchildren, David, Emma, Abigal and Justin.
Funeral services for Mrs. Duvall will be conducted on Monday, December 3, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. in the Sherrill-Guerry Memorial Chapel, Lake City, Florida with the Reverend Doctor Robert Maltzahn officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Lake City, Florida.

Billy Joe Blalock
Billy Joe Blalock, 61, a resident of Lake City, Florida passed away December 2, 2001 at home following a brief illness.
Mr. Blalock was born in Coffee County, Alabama and moved to Lake City in 1964. Graduated Rehobeth High School in Alabama. He was a member of the Lake City Moose Lodge. He was employed with Millwright Union Local #2411, Jacksonville, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father Edgar Blalock, mother Dorothy Blalock, and one daughter, Karen Blalock.
Left to cherish his memory is his girl friend Kevyn Harrison, Jacksonville, Florida, a daughter Cindy Bickel, Lake City, Florida and a son and daughter in law, Eddie and Julianne Blalock, Lake City, Florida three Granddaughters, Brandi Hughes, Emily Bickel, Lorrae Blalock of Lake City, Florida and three Grandsons, Wade Skinner of Live Oak, Florida and Will and Marcus Blalock of Lake City, Florida, one Brother, and sister in law, Bob and Mavis Blalock Irving, Texas and three sisters and brother in laws, Louise and Bill Palmer, Wartrace, Tennessee, Frances and Howard Burnham of Cleburne, Texas, Linda and John Mercer of Alabaster, Alabama and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Billy Joe Blalock will be conducted on Tuesday, December, 4, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. in the Sherrill-Guerry Memorial Chapel, Lake City, Florida with The Reverend Bertram Miller and The Reverend Howard Thomas officiating. Eddie Mae Merritt
Mrs. Eddie Mae Merritt, age 68 was born in Hamilton County, Florida. She moved to Lake City, Florida in 1956. She was a Unity Trained Rehabilitation Specialist for the State of Florida. She was a member of the Community Revival center and President of the Pastors Aide Committee and a Missionary of the Church. She is survived by: (4) sisters; Mrs. Josie Burnett of Orlando, Florida, Mrs. Margaret L. Ancrom and Mrs. Minnie L. Swain both of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Mrs. Mary Swain of Jasper, Florida. (1) son Ronald Leon Swain other relatives and friends.
Funeral was held for Mrs. Merritt Saturday, December, 1, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Revival Center, 228 N.W. Patterson Street, Lake City, Florida with the Pastor Clyde Douglas officiating. Hazel Keys Markham
Mrs. Hazel Keys Markham, 76, a resident of Lake City, Florida, died Sunday, December 2, 2001, at her home, following a long illness.
Mrs. Markham was a native of Marietta, Georgia, daughter of the late Charles H. and Aline Greene Keys, and had resided in Lake City since the 1940's.Mrs. Markham had worked in the Division Hospital for twenty years for Dr. C.G. York and then for twenty years, until her retirement for Dr. L.G. Landrum. Mrs. Markham was preceded in death by one Brother, Bud Keys.
Survivors include; Her Husband, J.L. Markham, of Lake City; Two Sons, David Mark Batterson, of Starke, and Linwood Larry Markham, of Lake City; One Daughter, Jennifer Markham Bowles, of Lake City; Four Grandchildren, Lindsey Bowles, Phillip Markham, Alton Markham, and Jamie Outlaw, all of Lake City.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 6, 2001, at 11:00 A.M., in the Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends, Wednesday, December 5, 2001, from 6 to 8 P.M., at the funeral home. Mr. Donald Carl Wilson, Sr., 64, resident of Lake City, Florida, died Saturday, December 1, 2001, in the Lake City V.A. Medical Center, following a long illness.
Mr. Wilson was a native of Cherry Lake, Florida, son of the late Wallace E. and Adeline Lohman Wilson, and had resided in Lake City for the past thirty six years. Mr. Wilson was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had worked as a carpenter and painter for 18 years with Aero Corp. and had worked for P.C.S. Phosphate for the past 22 years. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Cherry Lake Baptist Church, the LakeCity Moose Lodge, the Lake City Woodcarving Club, and was a past President of the Lake City Singles Club. He was preceded in deathby one Sister, Wanda Starling.
Survivors include; His Wife, Diane Wilson, of Lake City; One son, Don (Wendy) Wilson, Jr., of Lake City; Two daughters, Wanda Diane (Bob) Moulton, of Ft. White, and Lashonna Crews, of Lake City; One Brother, Wallace E. (Rene) Wilson, Jr., of Morehead, North Carolina; Two Sisters, Sallie L. Wilson, of Cherry Lake, and Annabeth (William) Esterbrook, of Alexander, Virginia. Seven Grandchildren and Five Great Grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 5, 2001, at 1:00 P.M., in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home, with Rev. Don Polston, officiating, and Rev. Charles Knight, assisting.

William Gerald Boston
Mr. William Gerald Boston, 62, of Lake City, died late Sunday evening in the Veterans Administration Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native and longtime resident of Lake City, Mr. Boston had been a resident of Citrus County for ten years and owned and operated the Aucilla Glass Company during that time. He had worked for Lake City Glass and Lee & Cates here in Lake City. Mr. Boston was a veteran having served in the United States Na-vy. He was an ordained minister having attended the Nazarene Bible College. Mr. Boston attended the First Full Gospel Church of Lake City. He was an avid fisherman and loved golf. Mr. Boston was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Boston.
Mr. Boston is survived by his wife, Gloria Boston; three sons, Robbie Boston, Clearwater, Florida; Ronald Boston, Lake City; Carlos Boston, Lake City; three brothers, George Boston, C.A. Boston, Jr., and Tommy Boston all of Lake City; and three sisters. Louise Sanders, Tennessee; Edith Davis, Jacksonville, Florida; and Joyce Poitevint of Branford, Florida.
Memorial Services for Mr. Boston will be conducted at 6:00 P.M., Wednesday evening, December 5, 2001, in the Biggs Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Hospice of North Central Florida, 1900 N.Gateway Cen-ter Blvd., Lake City, Florida 32024.

Memorial services for the late Michael Dash, age 50 resident of West Palm Beach, Fla. and former resident of Lake City, will be 12:00 noon Saturday December 8, 2001 at Combs Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Isadore Williams, officiating.
He was the son of the late Willie Dash & Vylillie Benjamin Mattox. He received his education in the public school of Columbia County and was a 1969 graduate of Richardson High School.

Thelma Gardner
Thelma Gardner, age 69 resident of 16968 Sunrise Drive, White Springs, Fla. died Tuesday, December 4, 2001 at her residence terminating an extended illness. Born in 1932 in White Springs, Fla. she was the daughter of the late Joe & Ruby L. Harrison. She attended the public schools of Hamilton County and was a member of New Bethel A.M.E. Church.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Gardner; 3 children, Clarence C. Mills, Qunette Brown and David McKire (Pamela) all of White Springs, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends also survive.

Willie Graham, age 76 resident of Route 7 Box 693-A Lake City, Fla. died Sunday December 2, 2001 at Avalon Healthcare & Rehab Center terminating an extended illness.
Born in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the pa-rents of the late Mary & Daniel Gra-ham, he attended the public schools of Benhill County. Two years ago due to declining health he relocated to Lake City to live with his daughter, prior he was a resident of Waycross, Georgia.
Survivors include 4 daughters, Mildred Williams (Billy), Barbara Moore, Patri-cia Graham (James),all of Lake City, and Dilo Sessions (Earl) of Jacksonville, Fla.; 4 sons, Willie Graham, Charles Graham (Glenda) and Christopher Graham, all of Lake City, Fla. and Otis Graham, Washington, DC; Step-son, Arthur Davis (Vivvian), of Albion, MI; 1 sister, Gladys Rivers (Ed) of S.C.; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Willie Graham, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Olivet Missionary BaptistChurch with Rev. Dr. H.M. Moss, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Rest Cemetery. Michael Wayne Qualls
Mr. Michael Wayne Qualls, 40 of Lake Butler, died December 8, at his home after a sudden illness. He was born in Murphysboro, IL living most of his life in San Antonio, TX, moved to Lake Butler in 1996. He was a driver for Trowell Trucking and attended the Advent Christian Church of Lulu.
He is survived by One Son: James Michael Qualls, of Lake Butler; One Daughter: Lacy Danielle Qualls of Lake Butler. His Mother: Betty S. Frank of Lake Butler. Four Brothers: Donald Frank; James Frank and Wesley Frank all of Longview TX; and Rick Qualls of Lewisville, TX. Five Sisters: Donna Tanner; Judy Qualls; and Lisa McCary all of Lake Butler. Debbie Stone of Ponder, TX; and Tiny Frank of Lewisville, TX.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler with Rev. Miles Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in New Zion Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 - 8 P.M. Wednesday evening.

Douglas Littlefield
Douglas Littlefield, 83, resident of Lake City, Florida, died Friday, December 7, 2001, in the Lake City VA Medical Center, following a long illness.
Mr. Littlefield was a native of Olustee, Florida, son of the late Ray and Myrtle Douglas Littlefield, and had resided in Lake City his entire life. Mr.Littlefield was a graduate of Columbia High School, class of 1938, where he excelled at track and was captain of the football team. He attended the University of Florida, before entering the U.S. Army, during World War II. Mr. Littlefield had worked as a traffic engineer for the Department of Transportation for 34 years, until his retirement on 1984. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, of Lake City, where he served as head usher for 9 years. Mr. Littlefield was a member and Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Lake City, member and Past President of the Sons of the American Revolution, a member of the American Legion, and member of the Magna Carta Barons, Somerset Chapter.
Survivors include; His Wife, Margaret K. Littlefield, of Lake City; One Daughter, Julie (Frank) Gafford, of Lake City; Two Grandchildren,Wendy (Lou) Turi, of Ocala, and David K. Bishop, of Lake City; Two Great Grandchildren, Julianna Turi, of Ocala, and Dawn Bishop, of Lake City.
Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, December 9, 2001 at 3:00 P.M., in the Memorial Cemetery, Lake City, with Rev. Mike Wright, officiating. The family will receive friends, Saturday, December 8, 2001, from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M., at their home, at 542 Oak Avenue, Lake City. Jimmy C. Lemmon, Jr.
Jimmy C. Lemmon, Jr., 57 of Lake City, FL, passed away Sunday, December, 9, 2001, in the VA Domiciliary in Lake City, FL.
The Bell native was born November 15, 1944. He was a letter carrier for Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach, FL. U.S. Marine Corp Veteran of the Vietnam conflict. A member of the American Legion Post No. 0137 on Lake Shore Blvd., Jacksonville, FL and of the Baptist faith. He is pre deceased by his father, Jimmie C. Lemmon, Sr.
Survivors include: His Mother and Step-Father, Edna Henley Lemmon LeCrone and Frank LeCrone of Branford, FL. One Daughter: Cheryl Lemmon Austin of Jacksonville, FL. One Stepdaughter: Tammy Usher Williams of Middleburg, FL. One Son: Jimmie C. Lemmon, III of Maryville, TN. One Sister: Edna Lemmon Johns of Branford, FL. One Brother: William Kenneth Lemmon of Yulee, FL. Six Grandsons and Five Aunts survive.

Mr. Jarod "Jerry" Shackelford, 55, resident of Lake City, Florida, died Sunday, December 9, 2001, at his home, following a brief illness.
Mr. Shackelford was a native of Lake City, son of the late William J. "Shack" Shackelford, and had resided in Lake City, his entire life. He was a graduate of Columbia High School, and had attended Lake City Community College. Mr. Shackelford had worked as a truck driver, for Home Gas Company, and as a clerk for Inn & Out Campground. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake City.
Survivors include; His mother, Jean Palmer Shackelford of Lake City, One Sister, Susan S. Miller, of Tallahassee; One Aunt, Sunny Shackelford, of Lake City; First Cousins, David Shackelford and Sherri Harper, both of Lake City; Two Nephews, Harold Clay Miller, III, of Tallahassee, and Jarod Matthew Miller, of Tallahassee.
Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, December 12, 2001, at 11:00 A.M., in the First Presbyterian Church of Lake City, with Dr. Roy Martin, church pastor, officiating. The family will receive friends & visitors from 10 to 11 A.M. on Wednesday, December 12, in the Narthex of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake City.

Margie Geraldine Bullock
Margie Geraldine Bullock, 68, a resi-dent of Lake City, Florida died Sunday, December 9, 2001 at her residence.
Mrs. Bullock moved to Lake City in 1989 after living in Key Largo, Florida for thirteen years. Mrs. Bullock was a member of Lake City Christian Church and was a very kind and loving mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Bullock was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Bullock in Novem-ber of 1996, and a brother John Richards in 2000.
Mrs. Bullock is survived by a son: Mark (Cheryl) Bullock, Lake City, Florida; three brothers: Billy Richards, Elma, New York; Lefty Richards, South Wells, New York; Tom Richards, Buffalo, New York; one sister: Jean Richards, Richmond, Virginia. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Cremation arrangements are under the directions of SHERRILL-GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 616 South Marion Street, Lake City, Florida.

John Robert Thomas
Mr. John Robert Thomas age 19 of Lake City died early Sunday morning December 9, 2001.
A native of Jasper, Florida, Mr. Thomas had lived all of his life in Lake City. Mr. Thomas worked with Shipps Snow Cones here in Lake City. Hobbies, which Mr. Thomas en-joyed, were baseball and Florida State Football. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his father, John (Debbie) Thomas, Dothan, Alabama, his mother, Nancy (James) Fassatt, Tampa, Florida, his paternal grandparents, John R. Thomas and Martha Russ both of Lake City, his maternal grandparents, Ludie and Juanita Shipp of Lake City. Four brothers, Robert Ward, John Ward, Austin Thomas and Stevie Thomas all of Lake City, two sisters, Shannon Thomas, Tampa, Florida and J.P. Thomas of Lake City and two step-brothers, Troy and Chris Hale, Dothan, Alabama also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Thomas will be conducted Friday, December 14, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. in the Biggs Memorial Chapel with Brother Zack Douglas officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Tabor cemetery in Lake City. Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening, December 13, 2001 between the hours of 6-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. H.D. Rogers, age 65, of Rt. 14 Lake City, FL, died Tuesday morning at his residence after an extended illness.
A native of Toombs County he lived most of his life in Lake City. He was a retired mobile home builder, a U.S. Army Vet-eran and a member of Hopeful Baptist Church.
Mr. Rogers is survived by one daughter: Wanda Rogers Brandon of Lake City, two sons: Rufus "Allen" Rogers and Rickey Dee Rogers both of Lake City, two sisters: Ora Rollins of Vidalia and
Brunell Friar of Lake City, one brother: Charles Rogers of Lake City, four grandchildren, Cody, Rickey, Julie and Mary Ann all of Lake City, several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. H.D. Rogers will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 from the Harden's Chapel Cemetery near Lyons. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

Ida Lillian Hughes Sloan
Mrs. Ida Lillian Hughes Sloan, 94, resident of Hendersonville, Tennessee, died Tuesday, December 11, 2001, in the National Healthcare Facility, Hendersonville, Tennessee, following a long illness.
Mrs. Sloan was a native of Clarkesville, Tennessee, daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Annie Carrie Thompson Hughes, and had resided in Tennessee for most of her life, having lived briefly in Lake City, Florida. Mrs. Sloan was preceded in death by her Husband, Rev. Carmon G. Sloan. She served most of her life as a dedicated Pastor's wife and homemaker, and will be remembered as a loving wife and mother. Mrs. Sloan was also preceded in death by her Grandson, Donald Joseph Sloan, II.
Survivors include; Five Sons, Carmon G. (Sandy) Sloan, of Sarasota, Fla., Paul E. (Carolyn) Sloan, of Louisville, KY., John W. (Nancy) Sloan, of Sarasota, Fla., James R. (Ruth) Sloan, of Seneca, S.C., and Donald J. (Debra) Sloan, of Lake City; Two Daughters, Martha Ann Sloan (James) Pate, of Nashville, Tenn., and Rebecca SueSloan (Phillip Mi-chael) Sexton, of Ashland, Ky.; Grand-children, Carmon III, Rebecca, Lisa, Jimmy, Joe, Jeff, Jane, Sherrie, Teressa, Paul, Karen, Laura, Cindy, Kim, Billy, Bambi, Dean, Chad, Lynn, Keith, Michelle, Melissa, Michael, Matthew, Drew, Dyanna and Dorrie. Thirty-eight Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 15, 2001, at 11:00 A.M., in the First Church of the Nazarene, Lake City with Mr. Brad Kochis and Mr. Scott Langford, officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Lake City. The family will receive friends, Friday, December 14, 2001, from 6 to 8 P.M., at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 603 South Alachua Street, Lake City, Florida 32055, or to the Hopeful Baptist Church Building Fund, Route 6, Box 1371, Lake City,
Florida 32025. GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 4309 South First Street, Lake City, is in charge of all arrangements.

Ervin Leon Smith
Mr. Leon Smith, age of 65, of O'Brien died Saturday December 1, 2001 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
A native of Lineville, alabama. Mr. Smith had lived in O'Brien for the past five years having lived in Ft. Lauderdale for the previous thirty-five years. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the United States navy and also a founding member of the Sunrise Volunteer Fire Department in Sunrise, Florida. Some hobbies, which Mr. Smith enjoyed spending were fishing, fast pitch softball and coaching Little League Baseball. Mr. Smith also very much enjoyed spending time with all of his family and friends.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 45 years. Mrs. Ina Coleen Smith of O'Brien, one son, Mr. Richard (Kimberly) Smith of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, one daughter, Cyndi (Tom) Florio of Tamarac, Florida, one sister Judy (Billy) Houck of Atlanta, Georgia. Four grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be conducted Friday, December 14, 2001 in the Biggs Memorial Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation with the family one-hour prior to the service. Graveside committal services for Mr. Smith will be conducted Sunday, December 16, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. in the Barfield Cemetery in Lineville, Alabama. Out of town arrangements are under the direction of the BENEFIELD FUNERAL HOME in Lineville and local arrangements are under the direction of the BIGGS FUNERAL HOME, 3801 South First Street, Lake City. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the South Columbia Volunteer Fire Department, Rt. 2 box 4000, Ft. White, FL 32038, in memory of Mr. Smith.

Roosevelt "Happy" Lenoir
Roosevelt "Happy" Lenoir, age 69, was born in Cordell, GA, in 1932 to Sylvest-er and Rosa Lee Hamilton Lenior. He attended school in Valdosta, GA. After school, he joined the United States Armed Forces where he served in the Korean War in 1951 and the Viet Nam War in 1968-72. During his tenure in the army, he married his school mate, Nellie Gail Milton, on September 3, 1955. His army career earned him the Bronze Star, which is a reward for bravery and he retired from the service after 22 years. The couple moved to Lake City in 1968 and he connected himself to Olivet Missionary Baptist church under Rev. R.L. Wright. He served at Oli-vet faithfully until he moved to Salva-tion Holiness Church under the pastorate of Rev. Kenneth Troupe where he remained until GOD called him home to rest. Deacon Roosevelt politically worked with Mrs. Alyce J. Caesar and others in regards to getting roads paved in North Lake City. He retired from the Columbia County Road Department and lived his life to the fullest because he understood that only what you do for GOD will last.
Five brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his passing: his be-loved wife, Nellie Gail Lenoir; two sons, Garry Lee Lenoir, Valdosta, GA and Danny B. Lenior, Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Alberta Young, Lake City, FL
and Beatrice Slay, Connecticut; three brothers-in-law, Jessie (Barbara) Milton, Palatka, FL, William (Annie Ruth) Milton, Lake Park, GA, and Herman Milton, Tallahassee, FL; six grandchildren, four great grands, and numerous nieces and nephews; special friends: Johnnie Lewis, Trenton, NJ, David Austin, Valdosta, GA and Judy Hair. Last, but not least, Alyce J. Caesar, the Allen Family and Brother Terry Wilson.
Funeral Services for Deacon Roosevelt Lenior will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2001 at 2 pm at Olivet Missionary Baptist Church, 901 Davis Street in Lake City with the Rev. C. Kenneth Troupe officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-7 pm at Caesars-Chestnut Funeral Home located on Martin Luther King Street.
