Virginia Geneieve Arencibia
Mrs. Virginia Geneieve Arencibia, 75, resident of Ft. White, Florida, died Sunday January 6, 2002, in the Shands at the University of Florida Hospital, Gainesville, Florida, following a long illness.
Mrs. Arencibia was a native of Lake City, Florida, daughter of the late Robert Francis and Annie Durrance Murray, and had returned to Ft. White from south Florida in 1986. Mrs. Arencibia was a homemaker, who enjoyed arts & crafts, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Lake City Third Ward.
Survivors include; Her Husband, Joseph Arencibia, Sr., of Ft. White; One Son, Joseph Arencibia, Jr., of St, Maarten, N.A.; One Daughter, Betty Joe (Han) Ramakers, of St. Maarten, N.A.; Two Brothers, Ralph Murray, of Alachua, and Allen Murray, of St. Maarten, N.A.;
One Sister, Irene (John) Moore, of Lake City; Four Grandchildren, Drew Arencibia and Angela Arencibia, both of Satellite Beach, FL, Sean (Erica) Watson, of Gainesville, and Kerri (Jay) Glatting, of Atlanta; Three Great Grandchildren, Cody and Conner Watson, of Gainesville, and Gracie Glatting, of Atlanta; Cousins, Marina (Mike) Steele, of Ft. White; Tommy (Bobbie) Patterson, of Lake City, Kendra Patterson, of Gainesville, Sebastian (Rosemary) Cabrera, of Key West, FL, Byron (Evonne) Cook, of Gainesville, and Gloria (Dan) Asfelt, of Davie, FL.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 9, 2002, at 2:00 P.M., in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Lake City, with Bishop Jessie Murrill, officiating. Interment

Robert "Bob" Bonesio, Sr.
Mr. Robert "Bob" Bonesio, Sr., 61, of Providence died Sunday at his residence after an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Bonesio was born in New Britain, Connecticut. He had lived in Providence since 1972. He was a correctional officer with the North Florida Reception Center near Lake Butler before his retirement in 2001. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post #400 of Lake City and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2206 of Lake City. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake City.
Mr. Bonesio is survived by, His wife: Carolyn Sue Bonesio of Providence; 1 Daughter: Maria Bonesio of Lake City; 1 Son: Robert Steve Bonesio, Jr. of Raiford; 2 Sisters: Betsy Myers of Gainesville; Francine Albertino of Atlanta, Georgia; 2 Grandchildren.

Rodney A. North
Mr. Rodney A. North, 55, of Lake City died Saturday, January 5, 2002 at the Shands at Lake Shore Hospital in Lake City.
A native and life long resident, Mr. North was a member of the 1964 graduating class of Columbia HighSchool where he was also a member of the Tiger football team. Mr. North was a member of the International Brotherhood of Carpenters and was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. North is survived by his wife, Jane Bedenbaugh North, Lake City, two sons, Drake and Daniel North, Lake City, and one sister, Brenda Williams, Jacksonville, Florida.
A memorial service for Mr. North will be conducted today, Monday, January 7, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. in the Bethel United Methodist Church with the Reverend Ken Hamilton officiating. In lieu of

Nathan Rosenbaum
Nathan Rosenbaum, 85, a resident of Lake City, Florida, died January 2, 2002 after an extended illness.
Mr. Rosenbaum had resided in Lake City for the past five years coming from Tuckerton, New Jersey. Mr. Rosenbaum was owner/operator in the produce business, also of the Jewish faith.
Survivors include son, Donald Roszenbaum of Clark, New Jersey, daughters, Patricia Canale of Brooklyn, New York, Debbie Brody of Sarasota, Florida and Jill Cuthill of Brooklyn, New York, also 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Dorothy F. Lindsey Attaway
Dorothy F. Lindsey Attaway, 75, died Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at Bay View Nursing Center.
Mrs. Attaway was born March 4, 1926 in Jacksonville, Florida, the daughter of Margaret Davis Lindsey and Homer E. Lindsey. She grew up in St. Augustine, Florida, where she graduated from Ketterlinus High School in 1944. That same year, she married Herbert Bailey Attaway, Jr. of Beaufort SC while he was in the U.S. Coast Guard stationed in St. Augustine. In 1954, they moved to Lake City, Florida, where they made their home for 45 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake City, where she was a member and teacher of the Charity Sunday School class, in 1999, they moved to Beaufort, where she resided at Eden Gardens Assisted Living.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Herbert Attaway, of Beaufort; two daughters, Dorothy Patricia Attaway and Melissa Susan Attaway, both of Beaufort and three grandchildren of Orange Park, Florida.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 12, 2002 at The Baptist Church of Beaufort with Interment
in St. Helena's Episcopal Cemetery. Thomas M. "Tom" Cannon, Jr.
Mr. Thomas M. "Tom" Cannon, Jr., age 77, of Lake City, Fla. died Friday, January 11, 2002, in the Lake City Medical Center, Lake City, Fla. following an extended illness.
Mr. Cannon was a native of Conway, South Carolina and had resided in Merrit Island, Fla. before moving to Lake City, Fla. in 1965. He was the son of the late Thomas M. and Maltsey Martin Cannon, Sr. and worked as sales coordinator for the Southeastern United States for Sears-Roebuck Com-pany and was former manager of Sears-Roebuck Company store in Lake City, Fla. for many years. He also was a former insurance agent for Gulf Life Insurance Company, and a former Medicar and funeral assistant for Harry Guerry Funeral Home and Sherrill-Guerry Funeral Home and transportation specialist for Suwannee Valley Transit. He was past chairman of the Administrative Board and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lake City, Fla., a member of the Masonic Lodge #65 in Conway, S.C., past member of the Retreads Club of Lake City, former president of the Civitan Club and the Sertoma Club of Lake City, Fla.,a member of the D-Day Club of Alachua County and an Army Veteran of W.W. II and served in the Amphibious Unit and was a tank commander with General George Patton. Mr. Cannon was a recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for valor in action during the first wave of the D-Day Invasion in Europe.
Survivors include his wife, Irma G. Cannon of Lake City, Fla.: His daughter, Anne (Frank) Olmsted, Jr. of Lake City, Fla.: One sister, Helen (Harry) Woodbury of Georgetown, S.C,: One brother, Joel A. Cannon of Orangeburg, S.C.: Four grandchildren, Sarah Lane McColskey, Thomas Graham Olmsted, Michael Olmsted and Frank Olsted, III: Five great-great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be conducted at 4 P.M. Monday, January 14, 2002 in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Atchley, Pastor, officiating.

Heather Nichole Odom, 18, a resident of Lake City, Florida died, Thursday, January 10, 2002 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Heather had lived in Lake City for the past eight years coming from Madison, Florida, and was of the Baptist faith. Heather loved horses, and animals.

Muriel Newbern Riddle
Mrs. Muriel Newbern Riddle, age 85, of Lake City, Florida, died Saturday, January 12, in the Camden Medical Center, St. Marys, Georgia following an extended illness.
Mrs. Riddle was born in Lafayette County near Branford, Florida and had resided in Alachua County and Cross City, Florida before moving to Lake City, Florida in 1946. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Elijah and Pearl Fletcher Newbern and the widow of the later John D. Shaw and the late Don E. Riddle. She owned and operated Riddle Fruit and Produce in Lake City for many years until her retirement. She was a charter member of the Southside Baptist Church, Lake City, Florida, member and past president of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, member of the order of the Eastern Star, member of the Amaranth, past president of the Lake City Women's Club and historian of the Lake City Garden Club. She was the recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award by the Garden Club of Lake City, Florida in 1986.
Survivors include her daughter, Helen S. (John) Gibson of Macon, Georgia: Her son, Gary R. (Sandy) Riddle of Kingsland, Georgia: One sister, Iris N. Kirlby of Branford, Florida: Two brothers, Danile Newbern of Branford, Florida and Samuel J. Newbern of Bartow, Florida: Seven grandchildren, David Shaw Jenkins, Cheryl Jenkins Watson, Melanie Gibson Jones, John Gibson, Jr., Gary Rodger Riddle, Jr., Thomas W. Singley, Jr. and Evelyn J. McDonald: Fourteen grandchildren also survive.

Irene H. Sedmera
Irene H. Sedmera, 89, of Lake City, passed from this life to her real home in Heaven on Thursday, January 10, 2002.
Irene was born in Meriden, Iowa, June 3, 1912, where her father was a Missouri Synod Lutheran Minister. Irene was the youngest of seven children. The family moved to Lakeland, Florida in 1920.
Irene married Joseph Frank Sedmera, May 10, 1936. The family business included campground, grocery store and a service station on old US 92 in Lakeland. Later, husband Joe and Irene operated tourist cottages, a restaurant and a travel trailer campground on new US 92. World War II resulted in Joe making amphibious tanks in the Food Machinery Plant with Irene looking after British aviators living in the expanded tourist court. Military surplus from WWII became the new family business. Joe, Irene, daughter Bonnie and son Frank later opened/operated an auction house and real estate office. Husband Joe died in 1983 and Irene moved to Lake City in 1994, living adjacent to son, Frank.
Irene is survived by a son, Frank Sedmera, Lake City, daughter, Bonnie Marie Weathers, West Palm Beach. Irene is also survived by grandson, Karsten Anton Sedmera, State College, PA, grand-daughter, Alicia Marlene Sedmera, Tallahassee, great granddaughter, Jana Marie Sedmera, and great grandson, Andrew Josef Sedmera, both of State College, PA.
Memorial service arrangements are by Columbia Funeral Home, 758-0046. The memorial service will be at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, SR47, 11/2 miles South of I-75, at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 19, 2002, The family requests donations to the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Piano Fund, in lieu of flowers.
Iris Hegler Koon
Mrs. Iris Hegler Koon, age 80, of Lake City died late Friday evening, January 11, 2002 in the Shands at Lake Shore Hospital in Lake City due to an extended illness. A native of and lifelong resident of Suwannee County, Mrs. Koon was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Hegler. Mrs. Koon was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church. Some hobbies, which Mrs. Koon enjoyed, were spending time with her family and friends and also helping her husband, Mr. Roy Koon, with his music.
Mrs. Koon is survived by her husband of sixty years, Mr. Roy Koon, Lake City, one son, Mr. Charles (Marlon) Koon, Pennington, Alabama four daughters, Mrs. Ann (Billy) Hart, Lake City, Mrs. Sue (Marc) Smith, Jacksonville, Florida, Mrs. Jane (Harvey) Irby, Lake City and Mrs. Karen (Gerod) Knighton, Branford. One brother, Mr. Johnny Hegler, Waveland, Mississippi, one sister, Mrs. Thalia Alderman, Leesburg, Florida and twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren also survive.

Lillie Frances Gaston, 80, a resident of McAlpin, Florida died January 13, 2002 after an extended illness. Mrs. Gaston has been a resident of McAlpin, Florida since 1947 coming from Evansville, Indiana. Mrs. Gaston was owner/operator of Gaston's Grocery, McAlpin, Florida for 15 years. She was of the Presbyterian faith, and enjoyed fishing, reading and sewing.
Survivors include, daughters, Anne Davis of Lake City, Florida, Melody Gaston of Geneva, Florida, brother Glenn Brown of Alton, Illinois, sisters' Helen Bradshaw of Marion, Illinois, Dorothy "Dottie" Conway of Greenwood, Indiana also four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Leland Maxwell Berry
Mr. Leland Maxwell Berry, 65, a resident of Lake City, Florida died, Saturday, January 12, 2002 in the V.A. Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida after an extended illness.
The son of the late Benjamin and Iris Burrus Berry, Mr. Berry had lived in Lake City for twenty-five years coming from Massachusetts.
Mr. Berry was a long distance truck driver. Mr. Berry was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Berry was a member of the Hamilton County Kiwanis Club, the Watertown Congregational Methodist Church and was a firefighter while living in Groveland, Massachusetts.
Mr. Berry is survived by his wife,Connie Berry; a son Rusty Berry (Tami), Lake City; a daughter, Terry Russell (Robert), Starke, Florida; a mother-in-law, Ellen Andrews, Rochester, Vermont; and four sisters, Diane Evans, Dowling Park, Florida; Pat Suther, Selma, Alabama; Judy Berry & Susan Ber- ry both of Norfolk, Virginia. Mr. Berry is also survived by his grandchildren, Dustin M. Russell, Amanda M. Berry, Josh T. Berry, David A. Russell, and Courtney L. Russell.
Memorial services for Mr. Berry will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 16, 2002, in the Watertown Congregational Methodist Church with the Rev. J.B. "Tank" Ogburn & Rev. Danny Williams, Sr. officiating.

Melanie Kay Boyer, 47, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2002 following a long illness.
The New Castle, Indiana native moved to the Branford, FL area 12 years ago from Houston, TX. She was a law enforcement dispatcher, a member of the Lupus Foundation of America, and attended the Suwannee River Assembly of God Church, Bran- ford, FL.
She is survived by her Husband,Bill Boyer of Branford, FL., her Parents, John and Eolah Akers of New Castle, Indiana, one Daughter, Laura Boyer of Branford, FL., one Son, Robert Griggs of Branford, FL., a step Son, Bill Boyer and Heather of Columbia, SC., five Sisters Kathie & Greg Snell, Diana Akers, Lisa & Tom Osgood, Leah Melton all of New Castle, Indiana. Willis L. Dempsey
Mr. Willis L. Dempsey, 84, of Lake City, died early Tuesday morning in the Lake City Medical Center following a brief illness.
A native of Thomasville, Alabama, Mr. Dempsey had been a resi- dent of Lake City for the past thirtythree years having moved here from Miami, Florida. Mr. Dempsey had been employed as a civil service aircraft inspector with the United States Air Force prior to his retirement. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the WWII and Korea.
Mr. Dempsey was a member of the Masonic Lodge #637 in Citronelle, Alabama, the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Lake City and the Wesley Bible Class at the church. Mr. Dempsey will always be remembered for his love of gardening. His favorite past time was mowing and raking his yard and maintaining the grounds at the church. Mr. Dempsey was preceded in death in 1994 by his wife, Ermie Dempsey.
Mr. Dempsey is survived by two sons,Willis Dempsey, Jr. (Fran), Eight Mile Alabama; Carlton Dempsey (Cindy), Lake City, Florida; two daughters, Loretta Garrett (Pat), Memphis, Tennessee;
Dorothy Weeks (Robert), Grand Bay, Alabama; and a sister, Frances Armstrong of Millers Ferry, Alabama. Eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Dempsey will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 18, 2002, in the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Louie Mabrey officiating. Interment

Mrs. Patricia Ford, 58, was born to the late Lawrence and Cloran Reese in Alabama. She was formerly of Lake City, but has resided in Queens, New York most of her life. She was a devoted wife. Mother and cheerful grandmother, she was a retired Registered Nurse in Queens, New York.
On January 10, 2002 The Heavenly Angels called Patty to come home. She leaves to cherish her fond memories; her loving husband, Louis Ford, (1) daughter, Monique Ford, Queens, N.Y. (4) sons, Lawrence Reese, Alabama,

John B. Fiorilli, 84, a resident of Lake City, Florida died January 4, 2002 at his home after an extended illness.
Mr. Fiorilli was a native of Cleveland, Ohio and had lived in Lake City for a number of years. He was a member of the Painters Union 765 Maple Heights, Ohio. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his Sister-In-Law: Rose Battista, Richmond Heights, Ohio.

Mary Christie, 79, a resident of Lake City, Florida died Thursday, January 17, 2002 at Kindred Hospital in Green Cove Springs, Florida.
Mrs. Christie was born in Morristown, Tennessee and was the daughter of the late Allen & Minnie Pearl Campbell, and was the wife of the late Clyde P. Christie. Mrs. Christie had lived in Lake City since 1947 coming from Morristown, Tennessee. Mrs. Christie was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of Pinegrove Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing and cooking.
Mrs. Christie is survived by a daughter, Sandra & (Gary) Perry, Lake City, Florida; two sons: Alton & (Eileen) Christie, Raiford, Florida and Donald & (Linda) Christie, Sickleville, New Jersey; two step sons: Nicky Christie, Lake City, Florida and Clyde Lawrence Christie, Milton, Florida; four sisters: Bessie Wells, Morristown, Tennessee, Ann Garrett, Brooksville, Florida, DaisyStrange, Kokomo, Indiana and Fay Christie, Pensacola, Florida. Also surviving are five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The Birmingham, Alabama native was born September 3, 1937 and moved to the Branford area in 1981 from Miami, FL, He was a peace time U.S. Navy Veteran and owner of Clearview Satellite Co. of Branford, FL, and a member of First Baptist Church, Branford, FL.
Mr. Grimmett is survived by His Wife, Mandy Grimmett of Branford, FL., His Mother, Bessie Grimmett of Branford, FL., a Step Daughter, Toni Mullins of O'Brien, FL., Two Sons, Timothy Grimmett of Marimar, FL., Michael Grimmett of Daytona, FL., Two Step Sons, Thomas Mullins of Branford, FL., Timothy Mullins of Rio, W. VA., Two Sisters, Carole Green of Branford, FL., Barbara Daniels of Branford, FL., Five Grandchildren, T.J. Grimmett, Heather Mullins, Harley Mullins, Crystal Emzyk, and Leslie Emzyk.
Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, January 20, 2002 at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church, Branford, FL., with Rev. Eddie Blalock officiating. Interment

Bill Williams, Jr.
Mr. Bill Williams, Jr., was born February 8, 1943 to the late Mr. Bill Sr. and Mrs. Ellen Williams in Live Oak, FL. He attended Lake Butler High School until 1962 under Mrs. Ruth Jenkins. He was drafted into the United States Armed Forces in 1962 where he received an Honorable Discharge and Purple Heart. He worked at Northeast Florida State Hospital until retirement due to illness.

(5) Grandchildren (1) Aunt: Mattie Mae Thompson, of Holy Hill, S.C. (1) Brother-in-law: Joseph Fayson, of Lake City, FL. God-Sisters: Deloris Johns,Angeline Roberson, Inez Robins, Minnie Williams, Elorene Manker, Alyce J. Caeser and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.

Mr. Joseph L. "Joe" Puerner, age 31, died Saturday, January 19, 2002 at Shands at AGH suddenly.
Mr. Puerner was a Chef. He moved to Gainesville 13 years ago from Lake City, Florida.
Survivors include his Father, Michael W. Puerner of White Springs, FL; Mother, Kathy Puerner of Lake City, FL; Special Friend and Her Son, Aria Crapo; One Brother, James N. Puerner of Gainesville, FL; Two Sisters, Jennifer L. "Scott" Thornton and Janelle M. Puerner both of Tallahassee, FL; and many friends.
