Eileen M. Frederick
Mrs. Eileen M. Frederick, 77, of Live Oak, died early Tuesday morning, May 7, 2002, in the Shands at Lake Shore Hospital following an extended illness.
A native of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Frederick had been a resident of Live Oak for the past 2 years having moved here from California. Mrs. Frederick was a homemaker and was of the Catholic faith.
Mrs. Frederick is survived by her husband of 51 years, Mr. N. George Frederick, a son, Gary Frederick, Flower Mound, Texas; and a daughter, Robin Adams of Mill Valley, California.
A funeral mass for Mrs. Frederick was conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 9, 2002 in the St.
Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Live Oak with Father Mike Pender-graft officiating. Interment
will be held in the Ft. Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Maryland.

Naomi "Katie" Latham Smith, age 65 resident of 708 N.E. Fronie Street, Lake City, Fla. died Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at North Florida Regional Hospital Gainesville, Fla. following a brief illness.
Born in West Blockton, Ala. to the parents of the late Mr.& Mrs. Gentle Bolden, she was a devoted member of Lee's Temple Church of God In Christ where she served as Church Mother and Church Treasurer. She retired from North East Florida State Hospital after 25 years of service.
She leaves to mourn her passing, a devoted husband, Thelma Smith; 2 daughters, Phyllis Julks (Biner) & Patricia Coker; 4 sons, Phillip Latham, Kenneth Latham (Christine), Charles Latham & Samuel Latham (Dionne); 2 sisters, Sade Johnson, and Adel Murphy, of Montevallo, Ala.; 2 brothers, Henry Bolden, of Lake City and William Bolden (Barbara), of Montavallo, Ala.; God-Children, Andrew & Gaynell Lee, Lake City, Fla.; 7 Grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews; special neighbor, Linda Ivory; Spiritual sister, Mother Louise Coles and a longtime friend, Mr. Eddie Collier.

Larry Blair
Larry Blair, 57, of Lake Park died suddenly on May 7, 2002 from injuries sustained in a work accident at PCS Phosphate.
He was born on March 26, 1945, in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Roland Leonard and Marie Swilley Blair. He was a dedicated, loving Father and Grandfather who was a big NASCAR fan. Mr. Blair was of the Church of God Faith.
His survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Ray Vaughn, two grandsons, Michael and Caleb Vaughn all of White Springs, FL., two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Alonzo Coggins of Lake Park, Montez and Bobby Howell of Mayday, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Rudolph Blair of Jacksonville, FL., Vasko and Nita Blair of Charleston, SC, John Lewis and Michelle Blair of Miami, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frankie Mae "Doll" Levings
Mrs. Frankie Mae "Doll" Levings, age 98, of Lake City, Fla. died Tuesday, May 7, in the Lake City
Medical Center, Lake City, Fla. following an extended illness.
Mrs. Levings was a native of Echols County, Ga. and had lived in Jasper, Fla. before moving to Lake City, Fla. in 1993. She was the daughter of the late Archie and Minnie Staten Dryden and the widow of the late Chester H. Levings. She worked as a nurses aid with the Columbia County Health department for many years. She was a member of the First Advent Christian Church of
Lake City and was preceded in death by two sons, Albert S. Levings and his wife, Josephine, and Robert S. Levings.
Survivors include four granddaughters, Meredith LaPradd of Gainesville, Fla., Margaret Ann Levings of Monticello, Fla., Marlene Hughes of Deland, Fla. and Jane Valentine of Seattle, Wa.: Four grandsons, Al S. Levings, Jr. and his wife Emily of Lake City, Fla., Charlie Levings of Tallahassee, Fla., Robert Levings of Jacksonville, Fla.: Albert Levings of Gainesville, Fla.: Three great-grandchildren, Staten Levings, Lindsey Levings and Scottie Mashburn.

John Thomas Moody
John Thomas Moody, 82, a resident of Lake City, Florida died Thurs-day, May 9, 2002 at his residence after a brief illness.
Mr. Moody was a life long resident of Lake City. Mr. Moody was a retired truck driver and worked for Granger Lumber and also the County of Columbia County.
Mr. Moody was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Edith Moody in 1996. Survivors include two sons: Jesse & Judy Moody, Lake City, Florida; David Moody, Lake City, Florida, one sister: Mattie Gunn, Bainbridge, Georgia and one grandson, Jesse James Moody.

Mr. Claudy Leon Moore, Sr. age 66, of Lake City, Fla. died Thursday, May 8, in the V.A.Med-ical Center, Gainesville, Fla. following an extended illness.
Mr. Moore was a native of Athens, Alabama and had resided in High Springs, Fla. before moving to Lake City, Fla. in 1978. He was the son of the late Dallas Blackburn Moore and worker as a welder with Driltech, Inc. of High Springs, Fla. for over 25 years. He was a member of Lake View Church of Christ, Lake City, Fla.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Moore, of Lake City, Fla.: Two daughters, Barbara Ann Hall of Lake City, Fla. and Linda Faye Hetzel of Hodges, S.C.: Four sons,

Dorothy Bailey Penland Smith
Mrs. Dorothy Bailey Penland Smith, 74, resident of Kissimmee, Florida, died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at the Tandem Healthcare Center is Kissimmee, Florida following a long illness.
Mrs. Smith native of East Orange, New Jersey, daughter of the late Clyde and Thelma Chancey Bailey, moved to Lake City, Florida in 1978 and attended the Epiphany Catholic Church and also attended the Old Providence Baptist Church of Providence, Florida. She attended the Lake City Community College where she became a Registered Nurse. Mrs. Smith was a member of the
American Legion Post in Lake City, where she served as President of the Womans Aux. for one year. Mrs. Smith was married to the late Fred Penland in 1946, and was married to the late William George Smith in 1987.
Survivors include: two sons, Rory Penland, of Orlando, Florida, and Raymond (Ellen) Penland, of Hollywood, Florida; three daughters; Valerie Penland, of Gainesville, Florida, Deborah Naeimi, of Charlotte, N.C. and Marie (Robert) Dooley, of Kissimmee, Florida; one brother; Clifford Bailey, of Ocala, FL and one sister; Joan Skates, of Ocala, Florida, five grandchildren and two great-grand-children also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 16, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral home, 4309 South First Street, Lake City. The family will receive friends and visitation Wednesday, May 15, 2002 from 5 to 7:00 P.M. at Guerry Funeral Home. Interment
will follow in the Mikesville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

John Sparks
John "Dick" Sparks, age 81, Hunter, OH passed away Thursday afternoon in the Willow Knoll Convalescent Center.
He was born in Middletown, November 10, 1920, a son of John Tolbert "Hap" and Elizabeth (Lovely) Sparks, and graduated from Middletown High School. He was enlisted in the Navy and served during World War II, then enlisted a second time when the Korean War broke out. He worked for over 41 tears as a Carpenter at Armco Steel. He is a longtime member of the American Legion, VFW Post 3809, and the Military Order of Cooties, serving as National Commander in 1976; a member of the First Christian Church, D.O.C., for over 60 years;a member of the Armco Woodcarvers Club; a Master Mason, and a member of both the York Rite and Scottish Rite; and the Anti-och temple Shrine, where he was active with the Oriental band and the Bagpipers Unit. He was recog-nized for having donated 20 and a half gallons of blood at Middle-town Community Blood Center; and has volunteered monthly at the Veterans Hospital in Dayton for over 50 years, and for the past 5 years at Middletown VA Outpatient Clinic, He also had mentored two little brothers, Mitch Buckner and Matt Pickerall, through the Big Brother program. He and his wife, Sally, entertain regularly at Hillandale Retirement Center.
He married Alice Pearce in Lake City, Florida, in 1952, and she preceded him in death in 1967. Their son, Ricky, passed away in 1961. He then married Sally Polen in Hamilton, Ohio, in 1972, and they enjoyed 30 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, Sally, he is survived by daughters Sharon Sparks of Middletown, and Nancy Murrell of Garland, Texas; a granddaughter, Sarah; a sister, Joanne Eckelberry of Winter Haven, Florida; a brother, Harry Sparks of Lake City, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins Jack, Bob and Dan Lovely, all of Sprigboro; and an aunt, Mary Lovely of Sarasota, Florida.
Funeral services will be held at First Christian Church Tuesday, May 14, at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Terry Van Heyningen and the Rev. Carol Oetzel officiating.
Friends may call at the Breitenbach McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home from 6 to 8 pm Monday. Masonic services will be held Monday at 7 PM. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamil-ton. American Legion Post 218 Color Guard will provide military honors at the graveside. The family suggests memorial contributions to the First Christian Church Youth and Children's Ministries.
Elizabeth "Sis" Fenn Griffin
White Springs, Fl 32096 - May 2002 - A memorial service for Mrs. (Roland) Elizabeth "Sis" Fenn Griffin, age 95, a long-time resident of White Springs who passed away recently in Jacksonville, Florida, will be held Sunday, May 19, at 2:00 p.m., in the White Springs United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by two nephews: John Siefert of Iveness, and Robert Siefert of the island of St. Croix, and three great-nephews: John, Phil and Justin Siefert.
Mrs. Griffin, a retired interior designer, will be remembered locally for her generous contributions of time and talent assisting the Town of White Springs, The Stephen Foster Memorial, an the United Methodist Church.
Enondrus S. Belvin
Mr. Enondrus S. Belvin, 83, a resident of Lake City, Florida, died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center of Lake City following a brief illness.
Mr. Belvin was born September 30, 1918. He was the son of the late Reverend Enondrus S. and Hattie Brooks Belvin. He received his education in the schools of Columbia County. He served his country in WWII. Honorably discharged. Before returning to Lake City in the late 70's, Enondrus lived in Oakland, California for many years. There he raised three children.
Professing his faith and accepting Christ as his Lord and Savior he joined Union A.M.E. Church. He later became affiliated and joined Mount Pisgah A.M.E. Church. He served as a Trustee, a faithful member of the Usher Board along with being apart of the Finance Committee. Even though his health was failing he was an inspirational part of the Mt. Pisgah family.
Mr. Belvin worked as a Deputy with the Columbia County Sheriff Department for more than ten years. He was a devout member of Combs Funeral Staff. He was affiliated with B&S Combs Elks Lodge.
After being separated by war and family. Enondrus was reunited with his first love, Maxine Jones, They were united Holy Matrimony on September 30, 1992.

Luther Billips, Jr.
Luther Billips, Jr., 73 a resident of Live Oak, Florida died Sunday, May 12, 2002.
Mr. Billips resided in Live Oak for 19 years coming from Bluefield, Virginia. He is the son of the late Luther and Mrs. Billips, Sr., brother of Clarence Marlin and Vernon Billips. He was a coal miner for 38 years in West Virginia, an Army veteran, a former member of the Moose Lodge, enjoyed horseback riding and playing the guitar, also a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church, Falmouth, Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Billips of Live Oak, Florida, sons, David (Becky) Billips of Weber City, Virginia and Robert (Jennifer) Cain of Live Oak, Florida, Joyce Ann Maggie (James) Bailey of Bluefield, West Virginia, his brother Carl Billips, his sisters Nannie Lou Billips, Bernice Griffith, Sally (Albert) Sluss and Gertrude Billips all of Bluefield,Virginia also grand-children; Robbie, Brittany, Blake, Aaron, Kaila, Eric, Ashley, Randy, Cookie and Michael, and great grandchildren Hannah and Makaylia.

Flora Mae Brinkley, 75, died Thursday, May 16, 2002 at her residence in Kingsley Lake Florida.
Mrs. Brinkley has lived at her Kingsley Lake home for the past seven years, but had resided in Lake City, Florida most of her life. Mrs. Brinkley was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lake City, Florida. Mrs. Brinkley was a graduate of Columbia High School Class of 1945 and a graduate of Florida State College for Women. Mrs. Brinkley is preceded in death by her husband, Leo A. Mrs. Betty Rosemary "Bettyrose" Layfield, 73, of Fort White, died late Friday afternoon at her residence following an extended illness.
A native of San Diego, California. Mrs. Layfield had been a resident of Fort White for the past fifty-four years having moved here from South Carolina. Mrs. Layfield was the daughter of the late Raymond & Bessie Leck Moreland. She was a homemaker and a member of the Fort White Church of God . Mrs. Layfield was presented with a recognition award by the church for her fifty years of dedication to playing the piano at both the Wednesday evening services and both Sunday services. She was a member of the Auxiliary of the Gideons International for the past twenty years. In her spare Mrs. Layfield enjoyed playing tennis, bowling and painting.
Mrs. Layfield is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, Mr. Thomas "T.J." Layfield; two daughters, Rosemary Shannon (Mike) Union, Kentucky; Sharon Lynn Pace (Steven), Lake City, Florida; Six grandchildren, Chris Avery, Angela Shannon, Jessica Pace, Kristen Pace, Sara Beth Pace and a great-grandson, James Ryan Avery.

Mary Lelich Blangger, 79, resident of Lake City, Florida died Saturday, May 17, 2002 after a brief illness. Mrs. Blangger was a native of Braddock, Pennsylvania moving to North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania for 23 years, then to Perdido Bay, Lillian, Alabama four years then to Lake City, Florida the last eighteen years. Mrs. Blangger supported the Society of St. Plus X, was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother she also enjoyed cooking, sewing and reading. Survivors include her beloved husband of 58 years, Jacob E. Mr. Osborn O. Neye
Mr. Osborn O. Neye, of Lake City, died Sunday morning May 19, 2002 in The Health Center nursing home following an extended illness. A native of Prosperity, West Virginia, Mr. Neye had been a resident of Lake City for the seven years having moved here from Ovieda, Florida. Mr. Neye was a retired carpenter and owned and operated his own outboard motor repair shop. In his spare time, he liked to tinker with restoring old cars. Mr. Neye was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Neye is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Robert & Betty Neye of Lake City, Florida; two granddaughters, Vicki Neye and Sharon Sanborn, two great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

William J. "Bill" Craig
Mr. William J. "Bill" Craig, age 73, of Lake City, Fla. died Tuesday, May 21, in the V.A. Medical Center, Lake City, Fla. following a long illness.
Mr. Craig was a native of Burbank, Oklahoma and had resided in Lake City, Fla. for the past 71 years. He was the son of the late Robert and Josephine Walsh Craig and worked as a land surveyor for the Department of Transportation District office for thirty years until his retire- ment in 1978. He also worked with Lonnie Lee & Associates, Bennett Wattles and Kenneth Havird Surveyors before his death. He was a graduate of Columbia High School Class of 1947 and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Jean Craig of Lake City, Fla.: Three sons, B.J. (Jeanie) Craig and Jack (Sarah) Craig both of Lake City, Fla. and Jerry (Cheri) Craig of Ocala, Fla.: One sister, Shirley Thomas of Lake City, Fla.: One brother, Bobby Craig, Jacksonville, Fla.: Seven grandchildren, Brandon Craig, Cody Craig, Jacob Craig, Hana Craig, Emilee Craig, Colby Craig and Hunter Craig.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, May 24, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Mr. Windell Norris speaking and assisted by Chaplain Donald Runyon of the V.A. Medical Center, Lake City, Fla. Final disposition will be cremation. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday May 23, 2002, at the GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 4309 South First Street, Lake City, Florida.

Margaret A. Cutcher, 80, of Lake City, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2002 in Shands at Live Oak, FL.
The Boyle, Mississippi native moved to Lake City from Fernandina Beach, FL in 1984, was a home- maker and was of Baptist Faith.
Survivors include her ex-husband: Arthur Cutcher, Lake City; One son: James C. (Betty) Green, Green Cove Springs, FL; One sister: Myrtie Lohrberg, Phoenix, Arizona; Three Grandchildren: Melissa O'Neill, Betsy Green, and Jamie C. (Allison) Green, III; One Great-Grandchild: Kelly Shea O'Neill.
Memorial services will be conduct-ed 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at Falling Creek Chapel, Lake City (Off of CR 131).
