Ellen L. Boone
Fort White - Ellen L. Boone, 50, died Monday, May 20, 2002 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mrs. Boone was born in Baltimore, Maryland and moved to Fort White from Orlando in 1990. She was a medical transcriptionist at North Florida Regional Outpatient Image Center and a graduate of Broward Community College with a medical assistant degree. She attended school in Westminister, Maryland and was a known Soprano soloist in schools and churches in Maryland, and attended Northeast High School in Fort Lauderdale. She attended the First Baptist Church of High Springs.
Survivors include her husband, James Boone of Fort White; a daughter, Lauren A. Whitehead, Gainesville; a son, JohnChristopher Whitehead, U.S. Navy, Honolulu, Hawaii; her parents William and A. Ruth Dix of Fort White; and a sister, Margaret E. Evans of Chambersburg, PA.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, May 25, 2002 at First Baptist Church of High Springs with Dr. Eddie Gandy conducting the service.

Betty Murphy Draper, age 56 resident of 525 West Lee St. Lake City, Fla. died Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at Lake City Medical Center terminating an extended illness.
Born in Lakeland, Ga. she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Murphy & Sarah Brockington Murphy. Her education was received in the public Schools of Columbia County. She was a 1965 graduate of Richardson High School. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Billy Ray Park- er, who preceded her in death. Later in life she was united in marriage to Mr. Edward Draper, of Chigaco, Ill.. In recent months due to ill health she relocated back to Columbia County and united with the Olivet Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Edward D. Williams, Houston, Texas, Timothy Williams (Idella) of Texas and Billy Ray Parker, Lake City, Fla.; Step-daughters, Shelly Draper and Nichole Draper, of Chicago, Ill.; Sisters, Pearlean Jackson, Barbara S. Mr. Guest had lived here for 4 years having moved here from Brunswick, Georgia. Mr. Guest enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing video games.

She was the daughter of the late Gus Allen and Loveria (Dutchess) Harrison and was the widow of the late Joe F. Harrison, Sr.. Confessing Christ as her personal savior, she united with Beulah Baptist Church, White Springs, Fla. where she served as a dedicated member until her health failed.
She leaves to mourn a devoted friend Samuel (Red) Gray, one son Joe (Mott) Brown, one son-in-law Earl E. Gardner, Sr., The Monroe Family of Lake City, Florida. She was a life long resident of Union County. She was a homemaker and member of Providence Village Baptist Church.

Thomas Frederick Sammons
Mr. Thomas Frederick Sammons, 74, of Lake City died late Thursday evening, May 23, 2002 at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville following a lengthy illness.
A native of Williamson, Kentucky, Mr. Sammons had been a resident of Lake City for the past forty one years. Mr. Sammons was a retired Carpenter, a Army Veteran during the Korean War, a member of the Stone Lodge F&AM in Berea, Kentucky, and a member of the Little Ruth Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs, FL. Mr. Sammons enjoyed doing carpentry work and spending time with his grandchildren in his spare time.
Mr. Sammons is survived by his wife of thrity-seven years, Dorothy Sammons of Lake City; one daughter, Lona Baxter (Johnny) of Lake City; three step-daughters, Jennifer Creamer (Donnie) of Lake City, Phyllis Benefield (Wayne) of Newberry, FL and Talatha Harvey (Mike) of St. Augustine, FL; two step-sons, Marvin Berry of Lake City, and Wayne Berry of Steinhatchee, FL; one sister, Mary Lou Perry of Lake City; three grandchildren, Kelli and Ashley Smith, and Harley Baxter all of Lake City; four step-grandchildren, Mandy Yoder, Joshua and Shelley Berry all of Lake City and Wayne Lee Berry of Jacksonville, FL; four step-great-grandchildren, Kaylynn Hearne, Thomas Yoder, and Devon Berry all of Lake City, and Issac Berry of Jacksonville, FL; many nieces and nephews also survive Mr.Sammons was pre-deceased by two step-grandchildren, Matthew Fletcher and Ryan Koon.

Mr. Alton Clayton Skinner, age 74, of Lake City, Fla. died Thursday, May 21, in the V.A. Medical Center, Gainesville, Fla. following a brief illness.
Mr. Skinner had resided in Lake City, Fla. most of his life and was the son of the late Oscar S. and Cora Register Skinner, He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1964 after 20 years of service and then worked as a transportation driver with the Suwannee Valley Transit, Live Oak, Fla. for 18 years until his death. He attended the Lake City Church of God and was a Navy Veteran of W.W. II and the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Skinner of Lake City, Fla.: His daughter, Dianne (Victor) Wood of Lake City, Fla.: One brother,Dewitt Skinner of Tampa, Fla.: Three grandchildren, Kimberly Harris, Amanda Wood and Whitney (Shawn) Blakley all from Lake City, Fla.: One great-grandchild also survive.

Robert "Bob" M. Dorsey, 71, died at home on Sunday, May 26, 2002.
Born in High Springs, FL, he had lived in Jacksonville for 45 years. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church, He had retired from CSX after nearly 40 years of service. A family man,

Joe W. "Rusty" Hemphill
Joe W. "Rusty" Hemphill, 64, died Wednesday (May 15, 2002) in Tenth of Ramadan, Egypt.
Prior to his 17-year employment in the Cairo, Egypt cement industry, Rusty was employed by Lehigh Portland Cement in Alsen, NY and Feldspar Corporation of Middle-town, CT.
Rusty graduated from Brunswick School, Greenwich, CT in 1956 and attended the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and the University of Bridgeport. He was very active in competitiv marksmanship groups and served on the U.S. Army Rifle and Pistol teams. He was honorably discharged from service December 31, 1966. He was preceded in death by his parents, James "Bumps" and Sarah Deane Diehl Hemphill of Greenwich, CT.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Jeffrey Turner, Kingsport, TN and Elizabeth and Robert Slater, Gainesville, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Debora Hemphill, Huntington, NY; three grandchildren,
Joshua Turner and Julie and Kristen Hemphill; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Anthony Fazio, Harrison, NY; niece and her husband, Regina and Joe Maruca; grandnieces, Nina and Carlotta Maruca, Sandwich, MA.

Carl Edward Hulsey, 92, a resident of Lake City, Florida died Saturday May 25, 2002 at the Shands of Lake Shore Hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Hulsey was a native of Leadwood, Missouri and had resided in Lake City for the past twelve years, Mr. Hulsey was an assistant Cub Scout Leader in St. Louis County, Missouri and was an employee of Summers Chevrolet retiring in 1974. He was also a retired member of the Aerospace Workers Local in St. Louis, Missouri and a member of the Parkview Baptist Church, Lake City, Florida.

Julius C. "J.C." Johns, 86, a resident of Lake City, Florida died Sunday, May 26, 2002 at the Shands of Lake Shore Hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Johns was a native of Wausau, Florida and had resided in Lake City for the past sixty years. He was of the Baptist Faith and served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He was preceded in death by his son Chuck Johns. Mr. Johns was the owner and operator of J.C. Johns Garage for many years.

Mrs. Mary Feagle Lawson, 87, resident of Lake City, Florida, died Saturday, May 25, 2002, in the Lake City Medical Center, following a long illness.
Mrs. Lawson was a native of Columbia County, Florida, daughter of the late Shelton and Annie Witt Feagle, and had resided in Jacksonville, for most of her life, prior to returning to Lake City in 1981. Mrs. Lawson had owned and operated Earl Thomas Florist in Jacksonville, and had worked for many years for Highlands Drug Store, also in Jacksonville. Mrs. Lawson had attended Hopeful Baptist Church, Lake City, and was preceded in death by her Husband, William W. Lawson.
Survivors include: Her Daughter, Barbara (Cliff) Lawson, of Homestead; One Sister, Loretta Feagle Pearce, of Lake City. Numerous Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Elenore Marie (Olson) Suggs, 80, a resident of Live Oak, Florida died Sunday May 26, 2002 at her home after an extended illness.
Mrs. Suggs was a native of Indiana Harbor, Indiana and had resided in Live Oak, Florida for the past Twenty-Five years. She graduated from the East Chicago Washington High School class of 1939, East Chicago, Indiana. Mrs. Suggs served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Branford, Florida.
Survivors include one daughter: Phylis Janet Suggs, Live Oak, Florida; Three Nieces: Patricia Rogers-Buskirk, Warsaw, Indiana, Adele Ilijanich, Titusville, Florida and El-len Melyon, Winthrop Harbor, Wisconsin.

Dr. Claude Alonso, 44, of Lake City died Sunday, May 26, 2002.
A native of Warren, Ohio, Dr. Alonso had been a resident of Lake City for twelve years. Dr. Alonso attended elementary and high school in Freeport, New York. After graduation from high school, Dr. Alonso graduated from the Inter-American University in Puerto Rico and then earned his doctorate degree from the Universidad Mundial Dominicana, in Santa Domingo Dominican Republic in 1984. After graduation from medical school Dr. Alonso completed his Pediatric Internship and Residency at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey. Dr. Alonso was board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in 1989 and was a Fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Alonso and his wife Dr. Tsao Alonso operated their pediatric office in Lake City for the past twelve years and were very well known in the community and loved by not only the children that were his patients, but also the parents of his patients.
Dr. Alonso is survived by his three children, Ian David Alonso, Brian John Alonso, and John Eric Alonso all of Lake City; his mother, Vincenta Alonso of Lake City; and his brother, John Alonso of West Palm Beach, FL.
Memorial services for Dr. Alonso will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 1, 2002 at the Hopeful Baptist Church in Lake City with the Dr. Rodney Baker, Church Pastor officiating. Interment
will be held at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the Alonso-Tsao Children's Memorial Fund-C/O First Federal Savings Bank of Florida, 4307 U.S. 90 West, Lake City, FL 32055.

Dr. Tehsin "Tsao" Alonso
Dr. Tehsin "Tsao" Alonso, 42, of Lake City died Sunday, May 26, 2002.
A native of Taipei, Taiwan, Dr. Tsao had been a resident of Lake City for twelve years. Dr. Tsao went to elementary school in Taipei, Taiwan and high school in the Dominican Republic. After graduation she completed her undergraduate studies at Universidad de Santa Domingo and earned her doctorate degree from Universidad Mundial Dominicana, in Santa Domingo Dominican Republic in 1984. After graduation from medical school Dr. Tsao completed her Pediatric Internship at University Hospital in Puerto Rico, and Pediatric Residency at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey. Dr. Tsao was board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in 1989 and recertified in 1998, and was a Fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Tsao was affluent in English, Spanish and Chinese languages. Dr. Tsao and her husband Dr. Claude Alonso operated their pediatric office in Lake City for the past twelve years and were very well known in the community and loved by not only the children that were her patients, but also the parents of her patients.
Dr. Tsao Alonso is survived by her three children, Ian David Alonso, Brian John Alonso, and John Eric Alonso all of Lake City; her parents, Dr. Henry and Lily Tsao of Lake City and San Fransisco CA; one brother, Anthony Tsao (Lise) of Greenbrae, CA; two sisters, Teling Peterson (James), and Teyun Tsao (York Liu) all of San Fransisco, CA.

Russell Carlton Pieper, Sr.
Russell Carlton Pieper, Sr., 69 a resident of Lake City, Florida died Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at his residence.
Mr. Pieper had lived in Lake City since 1993, coming from Ocala, Florida where he had lived for eight years. Mr. Pieper was of the Protestant faith. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army and Air Force Reserves. Mr. Pieper was also a Fire-man with the St. Lucie County Fire Department for twenty years, a residential contractor and a commercial pilot. Mr. Pieper was a member of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association, the Academy of Model Aeronautics and also Lake City R.C. Modelers.
Mr. Pieper is survived by his wife, Donna Pieper, Lake City, Florida; one son: Russell Pieper, Jr., Ft. Pierce, Florida; one sister: Betty Anderson, St. Petersburg, Florida. Also surviving is one grandchild, Sean Pieper, Ft. Pierce, Florida.
A memorial service will be held in honor of Mr. Pieper on Monday, June 3, 2002 at 11:00 A.M., in the Sherrill-Guerry Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Hart officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 10:00-11:00 A.M., Monday, June 3, 2002.

Funeral Services for Mr. Joe Baker Thomas (J.B.), will be held Saturday June 1, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at the Emanuel Church of God In Christ Macclenny, FL with the Pastor Joe Ruise officiating. Burial will follow in the Hampton Cemetery Hampton, FL. J.B. was born in Valdosta, GA., and moved to Baker County in 1971. J.B. was a Mason, and attended Emanuel Church of God in Christ. Their will be a Wake on Friday May 31, 2002 from 1 PM until 3 PM at Emanuel Church of God In Christ. On Saturday, June 1, 2002, the family will form the cortege at the home of his daughter, Cora M. Albritton of 410-Lot 4 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Macclenny.
Mr. Thomas is survived by: Five daughters, Lessie M. Brown, Gloria J. Farmer, Jessie M. Thompson, Cora M. Albritton, Mary A, McCray all of Macclenny, FL. Three Sons, Otis and Rudolph Thomas of Tampa, FL, Jonathan Thomas of Thomasville, GA, Two brothers, Clarence Thomas of West VA, John Thomas of Hahira, GA, Twenty-four Grandchildren, Six-teen Great-Grandchildren, Three Great-Great Grandchildren, other relative and friends.
