Lillian McGourty, caterer, was literature buff and artist
Memorial services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, at St. Patrick Church in Chatham and at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, at Long Hill Chapel in Chatham Township for Lillian E. McGourty, 73, of the Rainbow Lakes section of Parsippany, who died on Tuesday, March 17, 1998, at the Northwest Covenant Medical Center in Denville Township.
Mrs. McGourty was born in Paris and had moved to Chatham Township in 1940. She then lived in the Cooper Mansion in Chester and moved to Rainbow Lakes 10 years ago.
She as a chef, caterer and beautician.
Mrs. McGourty was a literature buff and an artist.
Surviving are four sons, James, Daniel, Kenneth and Robert; two daughters, Deborah and Kathleen; a sister, Marie; and five grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, 31 Evans Terminal Road, Hillside, N.J. 07205.
Arrangements are private.

Helen Mildenberger, in sales, Holy Family parish member
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 27, at St. Thomas More Church in the Convent Station section of Morris Township for Helen Regan Mildenberger, 80, of Florham Park, who died on Sunday, March 22, 1998, at home after a long illness.
Mrs. Mildenberger was born in Jersey City and lived there until she moved to Florham Park in 1956.
She was a salesperson in the children's department at Bamberger's in Morristown for 25 years before she retired in 1982.
Mrs. Mildenberger was a member of the Holy Family Parish in Florham Park and its Rosary Society.
Surviving are her husband, Edward A.; a son, Edward A. Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Alice M. Whitechurch of Langley Air Force Base in Virginia; a sister, Marie Crowe of Jersey City; a brother, Jack Regan of Jersey City; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Florham Park Rescue Squad, Felch Road, Florham Park, N.J. 07932.
Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.

Ernest L. Miller Jr., director developed first charge card
A funeral Mass was offered on Saturday, March 21, 1998, at St. Vincent Martyr Roman Catholic Church in Madison for Ernest L. Miller Jr., 80, of Whispering Pines, N.C., who died on Tuesday, March 17, 1998, at home after a short illness.
Mr. Miller was born in Lake Geneva, Ill., and had lived in Madison and Florham Park from 1961 to 1981, before he moved to North Carolina.
He was the director of development with the American Express Co. before his retirement in 1981 and is credited with the development of the credit card.
Mr. Miller was a fourth-degree member of the Monsignor John J. Sheerin Council of the Knights of Columbus in Madison and St. Vincent Martyr Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ella; three sons, Thomas E. of Roseland, Michael W. of the Millington section of Long Hill Township and Christopher J. of Bound Brook; three daughters, Barbara of Whispering Pines, Susan Strelec of Morristown and Mary Buchanan of Raleigh, N.C.; two stepsons, Dr. J.F. Warren of Louisburg, N.C., and James Warren of Elfland, N.C.; two brothers, John R. and Dr. G. Daniel, both of Oconomowoc, Wisc.; 18 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was the widower of his first wife, Genevieve, who died in 1982, and the father of the late E. Lawrence, who died in 1996.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Health Hospice, P.O. 1956, Pinehurst, N.C. 28370.
Interment was in St. Vincent's Cemetery in Madison.

Maryann Novak, librarian for Allied Chemical 15 years
A funeral liturgy was celebrated on Saturday, March 21, at St. Patrick Church in Chatham for Maryann Novak, 77, of Spring Lake Heights, who died on Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at the Crestwood Nursing home in the Whippany section of Hanover Township.
Mrs. Novak was born in Milwaukee, Wisc., and had lived in Chatham for 36 years before moving to Spring Lake Heights four years ago.
She was a research librarian for Allied Chemical, now AlliedSignal, in Morris Township for 15 years before her retirement 12 years ago.
Mrs. Novak was a 1939 graduate of Millburn High School, who received a bachelor's degree from the College of St. Elizabeth in the Convent Station section of Morris Township a few years ago.
Many years ago, Mrs. Novak served in the Navy in Rhode Island.
Surviving are a son, Gregory of Chatham; a daughter, June of Tallahassee, Fla.; a brother, Jerry Zitzelsberger of Cedar Grove; and two grandchildren.
She was the widow of John P.

Ann C. Sheridan, homemaker, active in St. Vincent church
A Funeral Mass was offered on Tuesday, March 24, at St. Vincent Martyr Roman Catholic Church in Madison for Ann Cremen Sheridan of Madison, who died on Thursday, March 19, 1998, at home.
Mrs. Sheridan was born in Newark and had lived in Madison for 45 years.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Sheridan was a member of St. Vincent Martyr Roman Catholic Church and was active in the McAuley Prayer League and St. Anthony's Guild, also both in Madison.
Surviving are a daughter, Ann O'Hanlon of Madison; two nieces, Sister Kathleen Fox, RSM, of Levittown, Pa., and Mary Ellen Moss of Yardley, Pa., and other nieces and nephews.
She was the widow of Francis B., who died in 1986.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Martyr School, 26 Green Village Road, Madison, N.J. 07940.
Interment was in St. Vincent's Cemetery in Madison.

Doris C. Steitz, supervisor, worked at Bell Laboratories
Memorial services will be held at a later date for Doris C. Steitz, 77, of Madison, who died on Tuesday, March 17, 1998, at the St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.
Miss Steitz was born in Newark and had lived in Irvington and South Orange before moving to Madison in 1986.
She was a secretCourier supervisor at Bell Laboratories in the Murray Hill section of Berkeley Heights for 28 years before her retirement in 1984.
Surviving are her sister, Elizabeth Murray of Lakehurst, and a nephew, Michael Murphy.
Arrangements were private and by the Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main St., Madison.

Luisa Volpicelli, homemaker born in San Marzano, Italy
A Requiem Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, March 25, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in Brooklyn, N.Y., for Luisa Volpicelli, 94, of Tucson, Ariz., who died on Friday, March 20.
Mrs. Volpicelli was born in San Marzano sul Sarno in the province of Salerno, Italy, and had lived in Brooklyn and Staten Island, N.Y., before moving to Tucson.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary of Tucson and Summit, Lucy Gigante of Staten Island and Ann Desiderio of Madison; a son, Vincent of Chatham; 11 grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren.
She was the widow of Rocco, who died in 1976.
Interment was in St. John's Cemetery in Middle Village, N.Y.
Arrangements were by the Brizzi Funeral Home, 3921 Fort Hamilton Parkway, Brooklyn, N.Y.

Howard Fenwick, engineer, 79
Memorial services were held Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Jackson Memory Gardens in Orange Park, Fla., for Howard W. Fenwick, 79, of Orange Park, formerly of Florham Park, who died Thursday, Aug.27, 1998.
Born in Elizabeth, Mr. Fenwick lived in Florham Park for 45 years before moving to Florida.
He was a mechanical engineer with the Singer Manufacturing Co. in Elizabeth before his retirement.
During World War II, Mr. Fenwick served in the Army Air Corps.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Geraldine B.; three daughters, Carol Troup of Florida, Virginia Olsen of New Jersey and Marne Rummler of South Carolina; a son, Jimmy of New Jersey; seven grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Arrangements were by Jackson Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, Fla.

Joseph Graziano, foreman,
Marine Corps veteran, 74
A funeral mass was offered at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 17, at St. Vincent Martyr Roman Catholic Church in Madison for Joseph A. Graziano, 74, of Madison, who died on Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, at Morristown Memorial Hospital.
Born in Newark, Mr. Graziano was a lifelong Madison resident.
He was a foreman at the Norpack Co. in Newark for 48 years before his retirement in 1989.
During World War II, Mr. Graziano served with the Marines in the Pacific Theater.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Joseph of Stanhope and John of the Cedar Knolls section of Hanover Township; two sisters, Carolyn DeLucia and Teresa Smith, both of South Amboy, and five grandchildren.
Interment will be in St. Vincent's Cemetery in Madison.
Arrangements are by the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main St., Madison.

Stuart Griffith, great-grandfather
Stuart W. Griffith of Pasadena, Md., formerly of Madison, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, at North Arundel Hospital in Glen Burnie, Md. He was 73.
Born in Caldwell, Mr. Griffith was graduated from Madison High School in 1942. He lived in Wheeling, Ill., before moving to Pasadena three years ago.
Mr. Griffith worked at Schaeffeges Brothers General Construction Co. in Illinois for 30 years before retiring in 1994.
He served in the merchant marine from 1942 to 1949.
Mr. Griffith was a member of the East Anne Arundel Lions Club in Maryland.
He is survived by a son, Stuart W. Jr. of Illinois; a daughter, Cheryl A. Durour of McCanry, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Themasina L. Laidlow of Wheeling; two brothers, Lemoyne "Skip'' E. of Parsippany and Roderick N. of Severna Park; a sister, Margaret of Pasadena; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 12, at Hanover Cemetery, East Hanover. Arrangements were by Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena.

Edward Griswold, engineer, professor at Cooper Union
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Ogden Memorial Presbyterian Church in Chatham for Edward M. Griswold, 93, of Jamesburg, formerly of Chatham, who died Monday, Aug. 31,
1998, at the Princeton Medical Center.
Born in East Haven, Conn., Mr. Griswold lived in Newark, East Orange and Chatham for 39 years before moving to Monroe Village in Jamesburg in 1992.
At the time of his retirement in 1971 he was the assistant dean at the Cooper Union in New York City. He joined the Cooper Union in 1942 as an instructor in engineering and rose to the rank of full professor.
Previously he taught high school mathematics and chemistry in Stonington, Conn., after starting his career as an engineer with various companies.
Mr. Griswold was a 1927 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa., where he earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering. In 1939 he earned a master of science degree in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
He was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers, the American Association of University Professors, and the Old Guard in Summit. Mr. Griswold was active in the Ogden Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder, worked on various boards, taught Sunday School and was Clerk of Sessions. He also was a member of the church mentor program and taught disadvantaged children.
Interment was in West Salisbury Cemetery in Allentown, Pa. Arrangements were by the Wm. A. Bradley and Son Funeral Home,
345 Main St., Chatham.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 669 Littleton Road, Parsippany, N.J. 07054-4836.

John Serillo, rose manager
A memorial service was held on Monday, Sept. 7, at the Earthman Resthaven Chapel in Houston, Texas, for John Serillo, 84, of Houston, formerly of Madison, who died on Friday, Sept. 4.
Born in Madison, Mr. Serillo lived here before moving to Houston 18 years ago.
He was the manager of the Watchung Rose Corp. in Madison for more than 30 years.
During World War II, Mr. Serillo earned a Bronze Star for his service.
He is survived by two daughters, Diane Baier of Houston and Rita Pagano of Green Brook Township; two brothers, Sal of Madison and Mike of North Plainfield; two sisters, Mary Gualtieri of Red Bank and Louise Underhill of Madison; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Interment was in the Resthaven Cemetery in Houston.
Arrangements were by the Earthman Resthaven Chapel in Houston.

Emma Zimmerman, homemaker, 97
Emma K. Zimmerman of Whiting, the mother of a late Chatham resident, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, at the Keswick Pines Nursing Home in Whiting. She was 97.
Born in Hanover, Germany, she immigrated to the U.S. in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1910.
Mrs. Zimmerman lived in Summit for 54 years before moving to Leisure Village in Lakewood in 1980. She moved to the nursing home recently.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Theresa's Church in Summit and of St. John's Church in Lakehurst.
Her husband, George L., and a son, George F. of Chatham, died previously.
She is survived by two daughters, Marion Bruschi of Princeton and Juliet of Lakehurst; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral liturgy was celebrated Wednesday, Sept. 9, at St. Patrick’s Church on Washington Avenue in Chatham. Interment followed at St. Theresa's Cemetery, Summit. Arrangements were by Wm. A. Bradley and Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Chatham.

Ann Brewer Pike, teacher
A memorial service was held Sunday, Oct. 4, at Winter Park Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, N.C., for Ann Brewer Pike, 92, of Wilmington, formerly of Chatham, who died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center in Wilmington.
Born in Newark, Mrs. Pike was a longtime Chatham resident before moving to Wilmington in 1970.
A former teacher, she was a Braille transcriber for the North Carolina Library.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. George H. of Wilmington; two sons, the Rev. George H. Jr. of Green Valley, Ariz., and Richard L. of Wilmington; a daughter, Elizabeth Pike Sherer of Richmond, Va.; a brother, Charles E. Brewer of Bainbridge, Ga.; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were by Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, 1617 Market St., Wilmington, N.C.

Barry DiLauri, 58, owner of steel fabricating firm
A funeral mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at Holy Family Church in Florham Park for Barry DiLauri, 58, of Florham Park, who died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.
Born in Morristown, Mr. DiLauri lived in Madison before coming to Florham Park in 1967.
He was the owner and operator of DiLauri Steel Fabricators in East Hanover since 1975. Previously, he was employed by Micropul in Summit from 1965 to 1975.
Mr. DiLauri served in the Navy for four years.
He was a member of the Saw Mill Gun Club in the Whippany
section of Hanover Township, the Florham Park Pistol and Rifle Club, and the Rock Hill Gun Club in Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen M.; a son, Christopher of Florham Park; a brother, Nicholas of Madison, and his mother, Sue of Toms River.
Entombment will be in the Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in East Hanover. Arrangements are by Burroughs, Kohr and Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main St., Madison.

William S. Bonanno, Judge and Former Prosecutor, 54
A funeral mass was offered Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998, at St. Vincent Martyr Roman Catholic Church in Madison for William S. Bonanno, 54, of Madison, the borough’s municipal judge, who died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998, at home.
Born in Irvington, Mr. Bonanno lived in Madison for 48 years. He was the municipal judge in Madison since 1989. Formerly he was a municipal prosecutor in both Parsippany and Madison.
In his youth, Mr. Bonanno was a member of the cast of the television show “The Bontempos,” which was aired on channels 7 and 13. He was a graduate of the Delbarton School in Morris Township and St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pa., as well as the Seton Hall Law School in Newark. He was a member of the Morris County and the New Jersey Bar associations.
Mr. Bonanno was a member of St. Vincent Martyr Roman Catholic Church, where he was a former choir member. He also was an honorary member of Local No. 92 of the Madison Police Benevolent Association. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; a son, Brian of Dover; two daughters, Susan of Marlton and Christine of Madison; his mother, Mary S. of Madison, and two grandchildren.
Interment was in St. Vincent’s Cemetery in Madison. Arrangements were by the Burroughs, Kohr and Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main St., Madison. Edward Ehrhard of Chatham, Automatic Switch chairman
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Cypress Lake Methodist Church in Fort Myers, Fla., for Edward R. Ehrhard of Chatham, 76, who died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at home of cancer.
Born in Newark, Mr. Ehrhard lived in Chatham since 1947.
At the time of his retirement in 1987, Mr. Ehrhard was chairman and chief executive officer of Automatic Switch Co. in Florham Park. He joined the company in 1959 as a quality control manager and subsequently became the plant manager of the main manufacturing plant in Florham Park. He became president in 1978 and chairman of the board in 1984.
During his tenure he oversaw the expansion of nine international manufacturing operations and led Automatic Switch through its transition from a closely-held family company to a public company traded on the American Stock Exchange.
Mr. Ehrhard was a former member of the Advisory Board of the American Stock Exchange.
In 1987, Mr. EHrhard was elected chairman of the Board of Governors of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association. Previously, in 1979, he was named the New Jersey Electrical Industry Man of the Year, and in 1980 Financial World magazine named him one of the outstanding chief executive officers in the electrical industry.
His community activities included service on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce and the Morris County Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the N.J. College Advisory Board and was a member of the Board of Directors of the U.S. Life Income Fund and the U.S. Life Advisory Board.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathryn P.; two daughters, Pamela of Edina, Minn., and Deborah of Clinton; a brother, Julius of Lakewood; two grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Arrangements were by Phil Kiser Funeral Home, 9239 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, Fla.
