SZYPULA, ALICE M., 72, of Egg Harbor Twp., died on June 1, 2001. Born and raised in New York, she has been a resident of South Jersey for the past 52 years, spending the last 6 years living with her son and family in Egg Harbor Twp. She was co-owner of Greenwood Memorial Park in Millville and Petland Cemetery in Vineland.
She was the beloved wife of Chester, who predeceased her in 1999, and was the loving mother of Jim and Linda Szypula, and the late Thomas Szypula. She was the proud grandmother of Sandy, James, Andrew, Matthew, and Sarah and will be sadly missed by her brother, Albert.

Mr. Coll was born in Camden, and died in Winslow Twp. He was a former student of the Kings Christian School in Cherry Hill, and formerly involved with Bellmawr Hockey and Barrington Soccer where he received the Team Spirit Award. He was an autobody technicians assistant with Lilliston Ford in Vineland. He had a love for the Import Car racing circuit, especially radio systems and detailing.
MURRAY, JOSEPH FRANCIS, 69, of South Dennis, died early Saturday morning at his home with his wife at his side. Born in Germantown, PA, he was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving on a destroyer in the Korean War. After the Service, he moved to Vineland and begun his career in sign making.
Mr. Murray moved to Avalon, where he purchased the Leahy Sign Company, which then became the Joe Murray Sign Company. He then moved to Dennis Township several years ago. A graduate of the Philadelphia School of Art, he was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Cape May, as well as the Cape May Art League and the Cape May Rotary Club.
Preceded in death by his former wife, Ruth Young, he is survived by his loving wife, Ruth (Nee: Donahue) of South Dennis. He is also survived by two stepsons: Bruce Sturgis, Jr. and Dick Sturgis of South Dennis and two stepdaughters: Donna Sturgis of Ocean City and Kathy Parratto of Upper Township and 17 grandchildren.

PICCONE, ALICE, 83, of Gloucester City, formerly of Absecon, died Friday at her home. She was born in Enid, Oklahoma and resided in Philadelphia, moving to Absecon in 1974 and to Gloucester City several months ago. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband Anthony T. She is survived by two sons: Vincent and Anthony Piccone both of Philadelphia and two daughters and their husbands Camille and Frank Babusik of Mount Laurel and Sue and John Pacifico of Absecon and many grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Absecon, where friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. GLEESON, FRANCIS J. 'FRANK', 70, of Mays Landing, passed away on June 1, 2001 at his home.
Mr. Gleeson was born and raised in Boston, MA and lived in Brigantine and Somers Point before moving to Mays Landing three years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. After he was honorably discharged from the service, he worked as a driver for Abbott's Dairies for 40 years until his retirement. Most recently, he was a driver for Schneider International of Carlisle, PA. He was a member of the Teamsters, Local #331 of Atlantic City. He was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Church of Mays Landing. During his leisure time, Frank was a Flea Market Dealer, and enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Mary E. (nee Sandiford); his son, Francis J. Gleeson, III and his wife Lynne of Egg Harbor Township; his daughter, Diane Herrington and her husband David of Woodlynne; his seven grandchildren, Brittany, Casey, David, Kyle, Kim, Chris, and Kelly; his nine siblings, Edward, Mary Thompson, Herbert, Theresa McQiggen, Thomas, William, Katherine Gleeson, Joann Candelora, and Elaine Bates. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph.

BOWMAN, MARGARET G., (NEE MURPHY), 57, of Millville, died Friday at South Jersey Hospital-Millville after an extended illness.
Born in Blackwood, she was a lifelong resident and a graduate of Millville High School.
She was a paper carrier for The Press Of Atlantic City for several years and a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking.
She is survived by her husband Donald Bowman; two daughters, Kelly Bowman and Stephanie Hoffman, both of Millville; and her mother Margaret Murphy, also of Millville.
She was predeceased by her son Michael and her father Carl Murphy.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville, with a viewing from 1 to 2 p.m. before the service.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville.

HART, DORIS C., "AUNT DORIS," , of Atlantic City, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, in the Atlantic City Medical Center, City Division. Born in Atlantic City, she was a lifelong resident.
Mrs. Hart was a member of St. Monica's Church, Atlantic City. She had worked as a seamstress for many years at Kravitz Clothing, and for sixteen years she had been employed at Resorts International Hotel Casino as a coatroom attendant in the main lobby.
Surviving are: her son, Tyrone L. Hart and his wife, Lisa of Pleasantville; three sisters: Dorothy Lewis of Mays Landing, Wahida Conquest and Frances Mills, both of Atlantic City; a brother, Maynard Prater of California; four grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

COERPER, WILLIAM C. "BILL" 91, of Little Egg Harbor, died Thursday, June 21st at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Stafford Township. He was a groundskeeper for Preakness Hills Country Club, Wayne. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Tuckerton. Mr. Coerper was a life member of the Verona Fire Company #2, serving as Chief from 1949-1950. He was, also, the oldest living member. He was, also, a life member of the Verona Rescue Squad. He was a member of the N.J. Fire Chiefs Association and the Firemans Relief Association. He was born in West Orange, resided in Verona before moving to Little Egg Harbor in 1977.

KLINE, HARRY ELLSWORTH, 94, of Port Republic, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 20, 2001, in the Mainland Division of the Atlantic City Medical Center; by his side were all his loving family and friends.
Born in Gladwynne, PA, and formerly of Ocala, Florida; he resided most recently in Port Republic with his daughter Jeanne M. Eisele and her husband, Thomas.
Early on, he enjoyed an exciting career in radio broadcasting and was associated with Station WFPG, Atlantic City. He worked with such personalities as James "Dinkle" Grohman and Ed Hurst.
Mr. and Mrs. Kline were partners in business and were owner/operators of a wide array of parking facilities in the City of Atlantic City, and many properties throughout Southern New Jersey.
Together, all through their marriage, the couple was intimately involved in the loving care and wellbeing of their daughter, Ellen, and were actively involved members of the Association For Retarded Citizens in Dade and Marion Coun-ties, in Florida.
He is survived by: his beloved wife of nearly 40 years, Helen (Nee Daily) of Port Republic; his son, Charles P. DiPietra and his wife, Joyce of Orlando, FL; two daughters, Jeanne M. STRANG, MARVIN R., "BOB", died on Thursday at the HRC Manor Care of Wilmington, Delaware after an extended illness. Born in Glassboro, he had lived in the Wilmington area for over two years.
Mr. Strang was a school teacher in the Salem school system, where he served as the Department Head of History and Social Studies. He had taught for over 40 years. He had graduated from Glassboro State College, and received his Masters from the University of Pennsylvania. He enjoyed history, reading, playing the piano, traveling and working in his yard.

WILLIAMS, JOHN "JACK" JOSEPH, 58, of Atco, formerly of Upper Darby, PA and Pacific, MO, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001at the Atlantic City Medical Center, Mainland Division.
Jack was born on July 14, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA. He served as a sergeant in the military police including a tour of duty in Vietnam. Jack served his community as a police officer rising to the rank of police chief in Pacific, MO. He also pursued management opportunities in the retail and food service industries after leaving the police profession.
He was a dedicated and loyal family man whom provided love and support to his wife of 38 years, Roxie V. Williams. He is also survived by his son, John J. Williams, Jr. and wife Tracy of Salisbury, MD. Daughters RoxAnne Williams of Atco; Theresa E. Williams and finance Alex Uchillan of Galloway Twp., and Kimberly A. McClintock and husband Ray of Swainton. MCCORMICK, JOHN F., 77, of Landisville, died June 28, 2001 at S.J.H.S. Newcomb, Vineland.
A resident of Landisville for 51 years. A 20 year Navy veteran served in World War II and Korea. Served with both the Atlantic and Pacific Fleet. Retired August 1, 1961. He received the WW II Victory Medal the American Area Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic Pacific Medal, European Theater, Navy Occupation Service Medal (Europe) for Service in U.S. Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean. Also received the Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service and the National Defense Service Award. Employed for 25 years as a Kitchen Supervisor for the State of New Jersey at Ancora, he retired in 1986. A member of the V.F.W. Post 3662, the American Legion, and the US Navy Fleet Reserve.

He was a psychological counselor at the Cape Counseling Center for over ten years, was also instrumental in the organization of the Burdette Tomlin Crisis Intervention Program, and the Family Crisis Center of Cape May County. HAWTHORNE, WILLIAM J., 55, of Egg Harbor Township, on Monday, July 2, 2001 in Hospital Santa Monica, Rosarita Beach, Mexico. Born in Somers Point, he had lived in Somers Point before moving to Egg Harbor Township in September 1998.
Mr. Hawthorne worked as an art teacher for Jordan Road School in Somers Point School System for 28 years before his retirement July 1, 2001. He was very active in school activities including serving on the yearbook committee and director of the art club.
He was a member of the VFW in Egg Harbor Township, a member of the Board of Directors for Wheaton Village where he demonstrated seat rushing. He was also a member of the N.J.E.A., the N.E.A., the Barnegat Bay Decoy and Baymans Association, and the Mays Landing Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Leah G. Hawthorne of Egg Harbor Township; two daughters, Natalie E. Klein and her husband Bill of Egg Harbor Township; Amanda Cummins of Egg Harbor Township; one granddaughter, Nicole Klein; one brother, David Hawthorne of Egg Harbor Township.

CARLSON, RICHARD W. (DICK), 80, of Brigantine, died on Wednesday, July 4, 2001. Richard was born in Rensselar, NY. He was the son of Arthur and Elsie Carlson. He moved to Brigantine in 1948. He established a business with his brother for 21 years and then established a home repair business for the last 31 years. Richard served for 3 ½ years in the United States Coast Guard. He enjoyed going to the Crab Trap Restaurant at least 3 nights a week to dance and enjoy the many, many friends that he had made over the years. He was known and admired for his wonderful sense of humor that continued to the very end.
Richard is survived by his brother Eugene A. Carlson and his dear friend Kim Brady Johnson. He is predeceased by his son Rick Carlson. Services and interment

AUGELLO, SR., JAMES MICHAEL, 53, of Pleasantville, passed away on July 3, 2001 at home. He was born in Atlantic City and was an area resident all of his life.
Mr. Augello, Sr. worked as a Sheriff's Officer for Atlantic County Sheriff's Department.
James is survived by three loving children, James Michael Augello, Jr. of Galloway Township, Brandy Augello of Maryland and Jenifer Augello of Egg Harbor Township.

DaGROSSA, JAMES, 81, of Absecon, on July 11, 2001. He is survived by his two daughters, Lynn Dowd and Kathie Beyer. SMITH, JACQUELINE E. BRYANT (HARRINGTON), 65, of Cape May Court House, died on Thursday in Louisiana while on vacation. She was born in Philadelphia on May 24, 1936, to the late Naomi E. (Bryant) Rice and Frank Bryant. "Jackie" as she is affectionately known, graduated from Bartrum High School in Philadelphia. She was successful in her career working for G.E., Honeywell, and recently for the Middle Township Board of Education and A.R.C.
She is survived by her loving husband, James A.; a daughter, Carmen Harrington Wymer and her husband, James R.; a step-son, Derek Smith; an aunt, Barbara A. Willis; cousin, Denise C. Willis; and granddaughter, Kiah Harrington Wymer.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where friends may call from 4 p.m. until time of service. Memorial s may be made to ARC of Cape May County, 822 Rt. 47, South Dennis, NJ 08245.
ULLRICH, WALTER, 75, of Beesley's Point, passed away July 13, 2001 surrounded by family at Shore Memorial Hospital, Somers Point. Mr. Ullrich was born in Upper Darby, PA in 1925. He graduated from Upper Darby High School and went on to college at Millersville University where he graduated with a B.A. degree in Education and Industrial Arts.
During World War II Mr. Ullrich served in the U.S. Navy on the Destroyer USS Somers and participated in the Invasion of Normandy. His career included serving as Executive Director of the Boy Scouts of America in Philadelphia, teaching Industrial Arts at Middle Township High School and Mainland Regional High School where he also acted as the Director of Drama Productions. He was the owner operator of Orna-Metal Iron Works in Northfield. For many years Mr. Ullrich operated a construction company in Ocean City and worked as a carpenter for McIntyre Enterprises.
In his retirement he started his own business as a wood carver of seabirds and fish and became quite successful. Throughout his life his first love which he shared with his wife was art. He taught for many years at the Ocean City Cultural Arts Center and was also a founding member of the Center. Additionally he operated a private studio in his home where he taught oil and acrylic painting to many students over the years. Several years in a row, Mr. Ullrich won first prizes in the Senior Division of the New Jersey State Art Competition. Another passion of his were the gardens at his home, of which he was very proud.
He is survived by his beloved wife Ann (nee Irelan); his daughters, Elizabeth of Beesley's Point and Aimee (Panico) of Tuckahoe; his sons, Scott Buehler of Strathmere and Arthur Buehler of Beesley's Point; a granddaughter, Jessie Ann of Tuckahoe and four nephews, Robert Taylor, Ralph Taylor, Roger Taylor, and Gilbert Ullrich, II.
A service of memory and love will be offered Tuesday, July 17, 2001 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 20 North Shore Road, Marmora, at 11 o'clock. Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family.

JUSTY, MARGARET J. 'MARGIE', (nee Mabie), 82, of Brookville, Barnegat Township, died Friday, July 13, 2001 at the Southern Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin, Stafford Township. Born in Passaic, she lived in Brookville for most of her life. Mrs. Justy was a lifetime member of the Waretown Fire Company, Ladies Auxiliary; was an avid Bingo p[layer; was a devoted animal lover; and was a member of the Brookville United Methodist Church.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Justy was predeceased by her husband, Joseph J. in 1991 and is survived by her daughter, Margie M. Lloyd (Lee) of Bridgeton; and by her two grandchildren, Charles Joseph Grafton & Margo Grafton.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 17, 11 a.m. at the Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home of Barnegat, 335 S. Main St. (Rt 9) (609-698-4281). Interment, Reevestown Cemetery, Warren Grove. HALL, SR., JOHN "JACK", 76, of Manahawkin, died July 19, 2001 at home. Formerly of Beverly & West Creek, he was a retired Material Analyst for Occidental Chemical Co., Burlington Twp. John was a decorated Navy Veteran of WWII and crossed the Equator 26 times. He was a member and past Master of Riverside Masonic Lodge #187 F. & A.M., Collingswood Consistory, Trenton Shrine and the Mystic Island American Legion.

FLING, ROSE L., 67, of North Cape May, died on July 19, 2001 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, Cape May Court House. Born in Brooklyn, NY where she lived before moving here 22 years ago. She was a cashier for may years for Lowe's Theater in New York City. She also was a volunteer for the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy benefit. Rose was active at the Animal Welfare Shelter in Dias Creek and for many years served as secretary. Surviving is her loving husband Wesley; a brother John Fiore and his family of New York City.
