WOLFF, JAMES D., 77, of Brigantine, died Wednesday, December 26, 2001. Jim was born in Camden. He then moved to Pennsauken where he lived for 25 years. Jim and his family summered in Brigantine since 1952 retiring there 25 years ago.
He was an avid sportsman all of his life, playing baseball and basketball in high school and independently. He also refereed and umpired both sports at the high school level in Camden and Burlington Counties for many years.
A veteran of WWII, he served in the US Navy as an aviation ordinanceman/tailgunner. After being Honorably discharged from the service, he married his high school sweetheart Edna Beckett. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus #3512 East Camden and a member of The Bishop Eustace Assembly of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was Past Commodore of the Brigantine Yacht Club and a two term Past Exhaled Ruler of the Brigantine Elks Lodge #2428. Jim was instrumental in starting the infamous "Bayfest" and also served as chairman of the bingo committee for many years.
Jim was a design draftsman. He worked on the first nuclear submarine, the Nautilus, at the New York Shipbuilding Corp. in Camden. While working for RCA, he was deployed the Thule, Greenland for one and a half years working with the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
In Jim's later years he worked on the construction plans for Bally's. His career ended at the Resorts engineering department. He retired after 15 years of service.
Jim was a very loving family man who leaves behind his very best friend and wife of 55 years Becky, his loving daughters, Patricia Harley (Skip) and Barbara Lee (Ralph). He was also the proud grandfather of Jim Harley (Kim), Mike Harley (Jen) and his newest buddy, Max Lee. He is also survived by his siblings, Helen Navarro, Robert Wolff, Joan Ryan, Dorothy Roper, David Wolff and 52 nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Joseph and his sisters Agnes (Honey) D'Andrea and Elizabeth (Betty) DiVito.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Life Celebration and viewing Monday, December 31 at 10 to 11 AM at the Keates-Plum Funeral Home, 3112 Brigantine Ave., Brigantine. Interment private. Funeral Service 11 AM at the funeral home. The family request in lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the American Lung Association, 917 North Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753.

KUGEL, MARIA B. (nee BERENATO), 62, of Ventnor, died suddenly, Thursday, December 27, 2001.
Born in Atlantic City, Maria was an area resident all of her life. Her family owned and operated the popular Luigi's Restaurant and Donna Maria Lounge (named after Maria), in Atlantic City. She attended St. Michael's Grammar School, was a graduate of Atlantic City High School, and attended Harcum Junior College in Bryn Mawr, PA. She was the front desk manager at the office of Doctors Fader and Fiedler, Oral Surgeons in Northfield. She had been actively involved in arranging all of the Class Reunions the "A.C.H.S. Class of 1956" for the past 45 years. Maria was a member of the Ruth Newman Shapiro Organization. She was a key figure with the Atlantic City Marathon organization and the Membership Chairperson for the Boardwalk Runners.
Maria was the devoted wife of Curtis Kugel and a loving mother and "Mom-Mom". She is predeceased by her father Jake Berenato and her brother Jack. Surviving her are her husband; her mother Thelma Getchell of Upper Darby, PA; her brother, John Berenato and wife Dale of Egg Harbor Township; her sister Timmie Berenato of Clementon; four children, Stacee Romeo and husband Sebastian of Westerly, RI, Curt Kugel II and wife Gina of Egg Harbor Township, Jack Kugel and wife Tanya of Tampa, FL, Richard Kugel and wife Suzanne of Northfield; and nine grandchildren, Eric Castellari, Curtis Kugel III, Courtney Kugel, Victoria Kugel, Richard Kugel, Jacob Romeo, Patrick Kugel, Olivia Romeo, and Cameron Kugel.
Maria's kindness touched the lives of everyone with whom she came in contact. She had a heart of gold and was a beautiful person inside and out! She leaves a legacy of many friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., Monday, December 31, 2001 at St. Michael's Church, 10 No. Mississippi Ave., Atlantic City. Friends may call Sunday evening, December 30, 2001 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at St. Michael's Church. Rite of Committal will be in Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association or your favorite children's charity.

EHLERT, ALFRED R., 97, of BARNEGAT, formerly of Hosensack, PA, died Thursday, December 27, 2001. He was born in Berndshop, Germany.
He is survived by his companion, Mary Beckley; two sons, Paul Reimert of Wartsboro, NY and Forrest Reimert of Jacksonville, FL; four daughters: Joan Lusk of Connecticut, Roberta, wife of Arthur Knappenberger of Elgin, SC; Virginia Stein of Panama City, FL and Gloria, wife of Carl Bonenberger of Red Hill; 20 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Bertha K. (Schumacher) Ehlert and a son Allen Reimert.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 31, 2001 at the Falk Funeral Home, 163 Main Street, Pennsburg, PA.

MITCHELL, MANARA ORTIZ, 'Tiny', 70, of Millville, formerly of Woodbine, died Thursday, December 27, 2001 at Newcomb Hospital, Vineland. She was born in Woodbine and lived there before moving to Millville 12 years ago. She was a nurse at the Woodbine Developmental Center for 26 years. She was a member of Bethel AME Church in Millville.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her children: Cheryl Webster of Millville, Paulette Ortiz Turner and her husband Ron of Millville, Carla Marie Ortiz of North Carolina, and Michael Ortiz of Millville; her surrogate grandson: Chris Pachcco of Woodbine; her great granddaughter, Teasia Ortiz, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 1:00p.m. at Bethel AME Church, 113 South Fifth St., Millville, where friends may call after 11a.m. Interment will be in Woodbine Cemetery.

DURA, HELEN E., 94, of Absecon, passed away Friday, December 28th in the Mainland Division of A.C.M.C. Med. Ctr. Mrs. Dura was born in Freeland, PA, and lived in East Stroudsburg, PA, moving to Absecon 10 yrs. ago. She is predeceased by her husband Daniel and four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by daughters: Lucille Merendino with whom she lived and her daughter and son-in-law Ellen and Dr. Donald Alexander. Grandchildren Matthew and Kelli of Findley, Ohio, step grandchildren: Lynda and husband Ed Flink of Marlton, and Thomas Merendino and his wife Bonnie of Egg Harbor Twp. Mrs. Dura belonged to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Absecon where she was a member of the Mature Adults Club. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 31st at 10:00a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church in Absecon. Friends may call from 9:00a.m. until time Mass on Monday at the church. TURNER, MADISON SARAH, Infant, of Ventnor, died at birth December 27, 2001. Survived by her parents: Jeffrey Turner and Dawn Hall of Ventnor; a sister, Taylor Nicole Turner; grandparents: Larry and Anita Turner of Margate, and Harold and Linda Hall of Egg Harbor Twp., an aunt Lynn Hall, uncles: Richard and Mikel Turner, and Harold Hall, III; and her cousin Hannah Cornell. A graveside service will be held at Atlantic City Cemetery in Pleasantville on Monday, December 31, 2001 at 11:00a.m. Friends and family should gather 15 min. before the start of the service. PIZAGNO, HERBERT H., 63, of Margate, died at home on December 28th. He was surrounded by his loving family. Herb fought a long and courageous battle against cancer.
He was born in Cheltenham Township, PA and was a resident of Margate for the past 45 years. He graduated Cheltenham High School and attended Villanova University. He was a salesman for Merchant's Wine and Liquor for over thirty years.
Herb loved to fish, kayak, ski, and ride his bike on the boardwalk. He also enjoyed cooking for the ACHS Crew Team, attending ACHS swim meets and all of the MCBP races. He was on the executive board of the MCBP alumni association, a member of the Resort's International Squash Club and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.
Herb is survived by his wife Jane, sons: Herbert and Ryan of Margate, daughter: Cheryl of Lindenwold; four grandchildren; brother: Edward and his wife Suzanne; sister-in-law Sally Money, and her husband Bill and brother-in-law James Devlin and his wife Mickey.
Friends are invited to call Monday 9:30a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Jerome and Ventnor Ave., Margate, followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30a.m. Burial Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing.

MILAZZO, JR., NICHOLAS R., 27, of Wimauma, Fla., formerly of Hammonton, died Friday in Florida. Born in Hammonton he was a life long resident before moving to Florida 1 year ago. He was employed by Harold Arroyo Inc. He was a graduate of Hammonton High School class of 1992 and attended Atlantic Cape Culinary Arts School. He loved his family, food, outdoor Sports and played for various Hammonton Recreational Teams. Surviving are his parents: Nicholas R. Milazzo, Sr., and Katherine (Brunzo) of Hammonton. Brother: Daniel of New York City. Paternal Grandmother Theresa Milazzo (Costa) of Hammonton. Maternal Grandfather: Joseph Brunzo of Dayton, Ohio, Maternal Grandmother: Marcia Longenbarger of Tampa, Fla., Maternal Great Grandmother: Katherine Brunzo of Dayton, Ohio. Loving nephew of many aunts, uncles and cousins. Nicholas was predeceased by his grandfather Nicholas Milazzo and loving Aunt Terryann Milazzo-White. PALMER, PEARL M., 79, of Beaufort, S.C., died December 27, 2001 in Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Widow of David "Manny" Palmer.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, December 30, at 1:00p.m. at Beth Israel Cemetery.
Mrs. Palmer was born on January 30, 1922 in Bronx, New York to the late Murray Margone and Rachel Cohen Margone.
She was a resident of Beaufort since 1959. Was the owner and operator of the Yankee Restaurant for 25 years and was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons: William M. "Billy" Palmer of Beaufort, Robert M. "Shorty" Palmer of Cape Coral, Florida and three grandchildren.
Anderson Funeral Home is in charge.

CAMPANELLA, EMILY M., 90, of Cherry Hill, formerly of Penns Grove, died Friday at Virtua Health Systems in Marlton. Born in Philadelphia, she was a longtime South Jersey resident. Mrs. Campanella was predeceased by her husband: Dr. Anthony A. Campanella, D.D.S. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Adele and Harry Larzelere of Turnersville; two granddaughters: Tricia Scott and her husband: Christopher of West Chester, PA; Christine Larzelere of Bloomfield, one great granddaughter: Autumn Grace Scott. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday 11:30a.m. at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, N. Third & French Streets in Hammonton. Viewing will be held Monday from 10:00-11:00a.m. at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third Street in Hammonton. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hammonton.

HUYNH, THINH, 38, of Galloway Township, passed away Friday, December 28, 2001.
He was born in Saigon, Viet Nam and came to this country in 1992. He was employed at the Tropicana Hotel in the Food and Beverage Department.
He is survived by his wife Tran Thi Nhu Hong of Saigon, Viet Nam, his father, Danh Huynh, sisters Han, Tram, Huong and Mai Huynh and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be Sunday, December 30, 2001 from 8a.m. to 10a.m. Services and viewing from 3p.m. to 6p.m. Cremation will take place at 9:45a.m. Monday, December 31, 2001, following a viewing from 7:30a.m.-9:00a.m. Arrangements by the Gormley Funeral Home, 2706 Atlantic Ave., A.C.

MURPHY, EDYTHE LEE, 92, of Atlantic City (formerly of Philadelphia, PA and Washington, D.C.), died Wednesday, September 12, 2001, at the Atlantic City Medical Center in Galloway Township. She was the widow of Harry J. Murphy who died in 1953.
Born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Frank P. Lee of Philadelphia, PA and Atlantic City, and Irene M. Eaches of Slatington and Philadelphia, PA and Washington, D.C. Before retiring, she cared for children in her home in Washington D.C. She was mother and grandmother to the many children whom she cared for over the years. A loving and generous person who had a special love of animals and plants, she will be missed by all who loved and benefited by her presence.
She is survived by two daughters; Sheila M. Franklin (Edward M.) of Still Pond, MD, and Ruth I. Murphy of Atlantic City with whom she resided, and Carole Bell-Hehman (Francis T.) of Scranton, PA whom she cared for as a daughter. She is also survived by her sister Florence Lee Ziegler of Salisbury, MD, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Murphy was predeceased by death by four sisters; Ruth Lee Spitz, Adeline Lee Clark, Betty Letzing Gray and Kathryn Lee Oppenheim.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 11am Monday, Septem-ber 17, 2001 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 2651 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City. Friends called from 10am at the Church. Arrangements by the Gormley Funeral Home, 2706 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City.

HUGHES, HELEN A. "NAN", of Absecon. On December 28, 2001 she was led into Heaven by Jesus and the loved ones who predeceased her; her beloved husband, John E. Hughes, her loving daughter and sons, Anne Westcoatt and Joey, Charlie and Dennis.
Helen opened her home and her heart and brought love and comfort to her family and her many "adoptees". Thus, she bequeathed the most memorable legacy of all- the words of Jesus, "That which you do for the least of My brethren, you do for Me".
Helen was born in Philadelphia and relocated to the Atlantic City area 40 years ago. Before retiring, she was employed as a Sales Associate for the Historic Towne of Smithville.
Grieving deeply are her daughter Dorothy Pfeffer and husband Robert P. of Absecon, and her son, Ronald Hughes and his wife Janet of Long Island, NY.
Sadness fills the hearts of Helen's grandchildren, Deborah Gordon of Northfield, Cindy Rainone of Brigantine, Aimee Hughes of Long Island, NY, Robert J. Pfeffer of Hilton Head, SC, Valerie Connolly of Absecon, Sharon Leitz and Lisa Zacek of Tuckerton, Frank Westcoatt, Jr. of Punta Gorda, FL. Also mourning her loss are her 17 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 2 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Absecon with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing. Friends may call on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until time of the Mass at the Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parsels Funeral Home, Absecon.

ARNO, PAUL, 96, of Sea Isle City, died Friday afternoon at his home. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Louis and Jennie (Ruggeri) Arno. A native of Magnolia, he moved to Sea Isle City in 1985. Paul was employed by the Campbell's Soup Company of Camden for 45 years, making him the longest working employee of the company. A charter member of the Knights of Columbus Blessed Sacrament Council, he spent his retirement years doing the things he loved best: gardening and spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by his wife, Lucy (DeVaro) in 1968 and his son, Louis Arno in 1989, Paul is survived by his loving family including his daughter, Jennie Hadfield and son-in-law Jack; his son, Paul Arno and daughter-in-law Dorothy; his grandchildren, Michael and his wife Sue, Donna, Mary, Joseph and his wife Patti, Jimmy, Andrew, Theresa, Lisa, Lawrence, Patricia, Paul Arno, Jr., and Christina; his great grandchildren, Trevor, Nathaniel, John, Joseph, Michael, Scott, Sara, Crystal, Justin, Christian, Brittany, Kristina, Andrew, Alexis, Gabriel, Michaelea and Tara. Also one brother, Sam of FL; and his loving niece, Carmella Russo.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 11 a.m., in St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 44th and Landis Avenue, Sea Isle City, where friends may call from 10 a.m. Interment will follow in New St. Mary's Cemetery, Browning Road, Bellmawr. The family requests donations in his name be made to the Holy Redeemer Hospice, 1801 Route 9 North, Swainton, NJ 08210. Arrangements are entrusted to the Krause and Dinan Funeral Home of Ocean View.

HALL, HELEN M., 88, of Cape May Court House, died on Friday, December 28, 2001 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. She was born in Philadelphia and moved to Cape May County in the 1950's from Riverton. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church.
Mrs. Hall is survived by her son, William H. Watson, Sr. and his wife, Anna of Cape May Court House; her daughters, Dorothy Lee Johnson of Burlington, and Joan Chatham and her husband Tom of Vero Beach, FL; and her two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson, William H. Watson, Jr. on November 29, 2001.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, December 31, at 11:00 a.m. at the Tabernacle Methodist Cemetery, Erma. Memorial donation may be made to the Lutheran Home, 2721 Route 9, Ocean View, NJ 08230.

COLLOPY, THOMAS, 82, of Linwood, died Friday, December 28, 2001, at Shore Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness.
Mr. Collopy had been an area resident most of his life. He had worked as a bartender in many local taverns including Tony's Baltimore Grill. Prior to coming to the shore, Mr. Collopy worked and resided in New York City, where he was a Championship Racquetball player.
He is predeceased by his wife Hilda Collopy. Surviving him are two step-sons, Robert Alquist of Northfield and Russell Alquist of Atlantic City; and two sisters, Helen Studer and Kitty Quadril, both North Jersey.
Services will be conducted Monday, 11 a.m. at the Mausoleum Chapel in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing. Arrangements by the Gormley Funeral Home, 2706 Atlantic Ave., Atlantic City.

GRAHAM, ALEXANDER, 88, of West Creek, died December 29, 2001 in Southern Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin.
Born in Philadelphia, he had been a resident of West Creek for the past 11 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, from 1942 to 1946.
Mr. Graham was employed as a printer at Beck Engraving for 40 years, retiring in 1983.
Survived by: his wife, Katherine (nee Creighton) Graham of West Creek; daughter, Alexis and husband Paul Lally of Cedar Run; grandson, Paul Lally, III of Lumberton; granddaughter, Alicia Feithaus of Manahawkin; and great granddaughter, Brianna Lally.
The Funeral Service will be held Monday December 31 at 10:30 a.m. at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin, with visitation 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment at North Cedar Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia.

GOULD, HAROLD CLAYTON, 82, of Egg Harbor Township, died at home Friday, December 28. Mr. Gould was born June 23, 1919 in Jamesville, PA to Harry and Olive (Fowler) Gould and grew up in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was taken out of high school and began working as a carpenter with his father during the Depression. Mr. Gould met his wife Helen in 1938 and they were married in St. John's Reformed Church in Pomona by Reverend Charles String on November 23, 1940. He entered the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps in 1942 and served in post D-Day Europe for three years until being honorably discharged as a Corporal in February 1946.
Mr. Gould returned to his carpentry work after World War II and became a self-employed Building Contractor and Cabinetmaker in Hammonton and throughout southern New Jersey. He was well known for his honesty and dedicated hard work which is evident in his special contribution of a steeple which he personally designed and built for the church in Pomona, which had been renamed the Union Protestant Church. He greatly enjoyed the hobbies of hunting and fishing as well as working on the restoration of the two antique cars he owned.
Mr. Gould is predeceased by his parents; three sisters, Estelle, Ethel, and Dorothy; and infant brother, Earle. He is survived by his wife, Helen Elizabeth (nee Draper) Gould of Egg Harbor Township; son, Earle K. and wife Barbara of Wilmington, DE, son, Steven and wife Deborah of Egg Harbor Township; granddaughter, Melanie Betters and husband Chuck of Middletown, DE, granddaughter, Laura Betters and husband Daniel of Bear, DE; grandsons, Bryan Charles and Mark Clayton Gould of Egg Harbor Township; three great grandchildren, Markie, Katherine and Mollie Elizabeth, and one great grandchild on the way.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. Relatives and friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor.
