Louis Burnett
80, of Atlantic City, formerly of Mizpah, departed this life on Tuesday, February 3, 2004. He was born to the late Alonzo Burnett and Pearl Smith on December 3, 1923. Louis Burnett attended the Marion County Public School System and was a member of the Liberty Chapel Baptist church in Fairfield, Florida.
Louis Burnett relocated to Mizpah,NJ from Fairfield,Florida in 1952 with his wife Ruby Burnett and family. Louis Burnett was employed at the Hamilton Township Road Department and Wheatons Plastic Plant in Mays Landing for a number of years.
Louis Burnett was predeceased by four brothers, three sisters, and one son. Left to cherish his memory include: Mrs. Ruby Burnett of Vineland, NJ; five sons: Lawrence Calvin of Clementon, NJ, Fredrick Burnett and wife Carolann of California, Nathan Burnett of Pleasantville, NJ, Alvin Burnett of Vineland, NJ, and Christopher Burnett of Absecon; four daughters: Joyce Knight of Vineland, NJ, Rubie Burnett-Thomas of Egg Harbor Twp., Jane Burnett-Mays and husband Clarence, Jr. of Elwood, NJ, and Brenda Burnett-Scott and husband Gregory of Pleasantville, NJ; two brothers: Harold Burnett of Franklinville, NJ, Manny Burnett of Reddick, Florida; two sisters: Margie Grunt of Augusta, GA, and Annie Harrell of Miami, Florida; one brother-in-law Charleston Gilyard of Galloway, NJ; one sister-in-law Lilly Mae Farmer of Florida; also 21 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, 10-11 AM, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where services will be held at 11 AM. Burial will be in LincolnMemorial Park, Mays Landing.
Mae M. Bader
"Tinkerbell", 59, of Mays Landing, went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2004 surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong resident of Mays Landing, she attended EggHarborCityGrammar School and was a graduate of OakcrestHigh School, Class of 1963. She was a bus driver for OakcrestHigh School for several years, and most recently drove for the Atlantic County Transportation Authority. In her leisure time she enjoyed watching wrestling and was an avid crossword puzzle and scrabble player. Mae always enjoyed her dogs.
Preceded in death by her parents Raymond M. and Mae K. Bader, she is survived by her three children: Albert Garth and his fiancee Barbara, Michele Belcher and her husband Wayne, and Donna McDade; one sister Katherine M. Langsdorf and her husband Donald; and five grandchildren: Troy, Timmy, Shannon, Melanie, and Meghan; one niece Jennifer Neff and nephew Donald William Langsdorf III.
Services will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where a viewing will be held from 9:30 until the time of the service. Marie P. Bader
74, of Mays Landing, passed away on February 12, 2004. A life-long resident of Mays Landing, she has been a resident at the HealthCenter at Galloway for the past four years where she played the organ for their services, worked in the kitchen, and helped out whenever she could. She was secretary for the Atlantic Co. Superintendent of Schools for 42 years until her retirement in 1991 and the Treasurer for the Atlantic Co. Vocational School from 1962-1998. A member of the Presbyterian Church of Mays Landing, she was their organist for 42 years. Since the age of 18, Marie has been devoted to caring for others and assisting family and friends in need. Marie loved animals and was often seen walking her dogs through town in all types of weather.
She is survived by 3 nieces: Patricia Collins, Mae Bader, and Kathy Langsdorf; seven grandnieces and nephews, and numerous other friends including her extended family of the Presbyterian Church and the HealthCenter at Galloway who will sadly miss her but never forget her.
Services will be held on Tuesday, 11 AM, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be in Union Cemetery of Mays Landing. Mary Elizabeth Hope
71, of Whiting, passed away on January 22, 2004 at the CommunityMedicalCenter in TomsRiver. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she was a 25 year resident of Milmay before moving to Whiting 4 years ago.
A devoted and loving homemaker, she leaves to cherish her memory her six children: Catherine, Edward, William Jr., Charles, George, and Robert; six grandchildren: Kayla, Lauren, Edward Jr., Anna, Charles Jr., and Ryan; and two sisters: Bernice Allen and Lettie Kell; and many other family and friends who will miss her dearly. Preceded in death by her husband William R. Hope, she is one of six children of the late Robert and Lila Kell.

Mary Verna Pitale-Booye
(nee Luderitz), 75, of Mays Landing, passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, February 11, 2004. Mary was born January 30, 1929 to Otis and Verna Luderitz of Mays Landing. She grew up in town with her brothers Carl, Ralph, Stewart, and Fred, and graduated from PleasantvilleHigh School in 1946. Mary proudly worked for and retired from N.J. Bell after 33 years. After her retirement, Mary enjoyed her life on LakeLenape where she has lived for the past 42 years. Friends and family could always be found at Mary's on the 4th of July or any excuse for an event, even wedding receptions. It was just the place to be.
Mary is predeceased by her brothers and sister Ralph, Carl, Stewart, Howard, and Lois Mae. She is survived by Lynn Rickman and her husband Rick of Queen Creek, AZ, Cheryl Gronendahl of Mays Landing, and Carl Pitale and his wife Deana of Mays Landing; one brother Fred Luderitz and his wife Betty of Newark, DE; and 3 grandchildren: Dustin Probasco and his wife Licia, and Reagan and Madeline Pitale all of Mays Landing.

Michael Andreyko
age 75, of Mays Landing, passed away on February 10, 2004. He worked for Ford Motor Co. for 30 years as a mechanical Engineer, and after his retirement continued his love of tinkering with cars, motors, and mechanical objects of every sort.
Mike was a man with a great sense of humor who had a joke, a song, and a kind word for everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mike is survived by his wife of 50 years, Paulina, and his daughter, Helena.

Pauline V. Kaluhiokalani
78, of Mullica Twp., passed away on January 26, 2004. Born and raised in Pleasantville, she has been a resident of Mullica Twp. for 52 years. She was a member of the ZionLutheranChurch where she was a choir member for 50 years. In her leisure time she enjoyed music, painting and playing cards.
She is survived by her four children: Champ, Bill, Paula, and James; and several grandchildren. Pauline was a caring and loving mother and grandmother who will be missed dearly.

Peggy A. Martino
53, of Rio Grande, went home to be with the Lord on January 8, 2004. A longtime resident of MedfordLakes, she has been a Cape MayCounty resident for 14 years. Peggy enjoyed bingo, was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Flyers and NASCAR racing; she enjoyed embroidering and loved spending time with her family.
Preceded in death by her son Jeffrey, she is survived by her parents Tom & Marge Martino of Mays Landing; 2 sisters: Cindy Matthews of Cape May and Patti Heisler of Tuckahoe; 2 brothers: Tom Martino of Egg Harbor City and Rick Martino of Delran; 2 nieces: Keri and Nicole; and 8 nephews: Chris, Tom, Brett, Andrew, Ben, Alex, Nick, and Troy.

Philip C. Hood
60, of Mays Landing, passed away on January 24, 2003. Born in Wilmington,DE, he was raised in Penns Grove and has been a resident of Mays Landing for the past 17 years. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 24 years of active duty. Most recently he worked at the Hamilton Mall. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force Alumni Association and the Greater Wildwood Elks Lodge #1896.
He will always be loved and remembered by his wife of 36 years Linda L., and three daughters: Dawn M. Hood-Lopes and her husband Joseph, Carol A. Liberatore and her husband R.J., and Nancy L. Bowers and her husband Bryan. He was the proud and loving Grandfather to September Stoddard, Chase Lopes, and Emma Bowers.
Services will be held on Thursday, 12 Noon, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will follow.

Robert E. Boakes
85 - of Woodbury and OceanCity, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2004 at Wesley Manor. Born and raised in Woodbury, Mr. Boakes resided in Woodbury for 80 years and summered in OceanCity. He moved permanently to OceanCity five years ago.
At the time of his death, Mr. Boakes practiced law at Boakes, Tarpine-Smith and was president of LakeviewMemorial Park. Mr. Boakes passed the bar in 1947 and spent the majority of his career at Boakes, Lindsay and Smith. Mr. Boakes served as a municipal judge for 15 years and served as the attorney for the city of Woodbury.
Mr. Boakes was President of the Gloucester County Bar Association; President of the Woodbury Kiwanis Club; President of the Greater Woodbury Chamber of Commerce; Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the YMCA of Gloucester County; Trustee and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of Underwood Memorial Hospital; and Chairman of the Gloucester County Mental Health Board.
Mr. Boakes was a long-standing member and Past Potentate of Crescent Shrine Temple, member of the Board of Trustees of the Shriners' Hospitals for Crippled Children and one of the attorneys for all of the Shrine Hospitals of North America.
A man of many good works, he was named "Man of the Year" by the Woodbury Jaycees; "Outstanding Citizen" by the Woodbury Kiwanis Key Club; and received the "Distinguished Citizen Award" from the Southern New Jersey Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Mr. Boakes served in WW II, having survived seven Pacific invasions. He served in the VFW and as Commander of the Woodbury American Legion Post.
Mr. Boakes's first love was music. He and his brother, Bert, started the Bonsal Blues marching band while he was commander of the Woodbury Legion Post. The Bonsal Blues went on to world acclaim. He sang in the Union League Glee Club, played his Sousaphone in the Pitman Hobo Band, and played accordion in the Crescent Temple String Band.
Mr. Boakes is survived by his wife of 58 years, Myrtle W. Boakes; his children, Lauran Yates and her husband, Jeffrey Yates; Janet Boakes; Edward Boakes and his wife Laurie Boakes; his three grandchildren, Christopher Yates, Matthew Yates and Alison Yates; and his three sisters, Aida Gordon, Virginia Jackson, Isabella Trafford.

Rosalea Busby
Busby, Rosalea, 46, of Vineland, went home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2004. Born March 28, 1958 to Joe Louis and the late Evelyn Busby in Ridgeland, SC, she later resided in Mays Landing where she received her education through the Hamilton Township School Districts.
In 1973 Rosalea met Charles Davis; into this union was born four children, Christie, Charles, the late Jamie, and Brian. She dedicated her life to raising her children as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Rosalea "Jean, Tilla" is survived by her children Christie, Charles, and Brian; her father Joe Louis Busby; eight brothers and sisters: Betty Mack, Gerald, Marvin Busby, Wendall Busby, Emma Busby, Faye Fuller, Leo Busby and Tonja; seven grandchildren: Dafawn Toombs, Khamirah Toombs, Justin Busby, Jaylen Busby, Charles Busby Jr., Ladetria Busby, and Davon Rice; one son-in-law Steven Toombs, one daughter-in-law Pamela Busby, three brothers-in-law: Benjamin Mack, Frank Fuller, and Anthony "Tony" Knight; one sister-in-law Valerie Busby; aunts, uncles, a host of nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Denise Bernard.

(Nee Coates) 70, of West Atlantic City, died at home surrounded by her family on February 2, 2004.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years Phillip R.; three sons: Randy P. and wife Patricia; Jody D. and wife Kathy; and Scott G. Salvador Perez
73, of Mays Landing, passed away Friday, March 26, 2004. Mr. Perez was born and raised in New York City, NY, and lived in Puerto Rico for 17 years before moving to Mays Landing 24 years ago. He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Josie and Gloria, and his brother Raymond. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Zelma, his five children; Sylvia and Salvador of California, Emma of New York, and Marimag Getting and her husband Matt, and Gorgianne Giordano and her husband Mike all of Mays Landing, his two brothers, George Perez of TomsRiver, and Manuel Perez of Florida, 21 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Victor N. Michaelis
36, of Mays Landing, passed away suddenly. Victor was a lifelong resident of Mays Landing, and a 1987 graduate of OakcrestHigh School. He served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Gulf War. An electrician by trade, he worked a variety of jobs, and most recently worked as a service mechanic for Wheaton Plastic of Mays Landing. Victor was a multitalented person who also loved the country life and spending time with his friends. During his leisure time, he enjoyed watching movies, listening to music, and building models.
He is survived by his mother, Elke Michaelis, his father Christian Michaelis and his wife Susanne all of Mays Landing, and relatives in the United States and Germany.
