Armand Boyer, 62
CLAREMONT -- Armand J. Boyer, 62, of Hillside Terrace, died Friday (Dec. 20, 1996) at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., after a brief illness. Mr. Boyer had been a Claremont resident since May of 1995, and previously had resided in Springfield, Mass. He had been employed as a security guard by the Arrow Detective Agency in Springfield until retirement. He was born in Winooski, Vt., on Dec. 17, 1934, the son of Armand and Hilda (Metivier) Boyer. Survivors include his wife, Clara (Bresette) Boyer of Claremont; one god-child, Jill Gerrmann of Morgantown, N.C.; and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Roy Funeral Home at 93 Sullivan St., in Claremont with the Rev. Arthur Obin, O.M.I., pastor of St. Mary Church, officiating. Interment

Delpha Burrows, 84
PETERBOROUGH, N.H. Delpha Cecile Burrows, 84, of Lounsbury Lane, died Monday (Dec. 23, 1996) at the home of her daughter, Pauline Wood, where she had resided for the past six years. She was a Bennington, N.H., resident for 45 years. Mrs. Burrows had been an employee of New Hampshire Split Ball Bearing in Peterborough, working in the finishing room for 22 years. She was a member of the Senior Focus Club in Peterborough. Mrs. Burrows was a communicant of St. Peter Church in Peterborough and a former communicant of St. Patrick Church in Bennington. She was born in Fairfield, Maine, on Jan. 26, 1912, the daughter of Jon and Paulina (Wodoracks) Cripps. She had attended schools in Hyde Park, Mass. Survivors include three sons, William W. Burrows of Hillsborough, N.H., David C. Burrows and Thomas E. Burrows, both of Jaffrey, N.H.; two daughters, Pauline A Wood of Peterborough and Frances R. Schackett of Newport; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Blanche Sawyer of Bennington, Geneva Del Isola of Medford, Mass., Phyllis Alexander of Heywood, Calif., Ida Brown of Milton, Mass., and Jennie Stewart of Broomall, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Francis Burrows, in 1959, and one son, Allan J. Burrows, in 1978. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday in St. Peter Church in Peterborough. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Bennnington. Dorothy Schmitt, 85
CHARLESTOWN -- Dorothy Clara Schmitt, 85, of Michael Avenue, died Saturday (Dec. 21, 1996) at the home of her daughter after a long illness. Prior to coming to Charlestown, she resided in Felton, Del., and had previously lived in Bayport, Long Island, N.Y. Mrs. Schmitt was a flower farmer with her husband in Felton, until in 1978. She was a volunteer at the rectory of the Immaculate Conception Church in Felton for ten years and was a eucharistic minister in the parish. In recent years she was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Charlestown. Mrs. Schmitt was also a member of the Ladies Club. She was born in Sayville, Long Island, N.Y., on Nov. 1, 1911, the daughter of Joseph and Martha (Merry) Nolan. Mrs. Schmitt was a Sayville High School graduate. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Mary) Holze of Charlestown and Delores Garison of Manasas, Vir.; two sons, Thomas Schmitt of Felton and Joseph Schmitt of Madison, Wis.; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances Gerard of Hayward, Calif; one brother, Joseph Nolan of Bayport; also nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Jospeh Schmitt in 1978; one daughter, Regina Abbatte; and three sisters, Josephine Nolan, Veronica Nolan and Grace Nolan. Eileen Rearick, 77
NEW LONDON, N.H. Eileen Rearick, 77, of Gay Farm Road died Saturday (Dec. 21, 1996) in the DartmouthHitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. Mrs. Rearick had been a New London resident for the past two years. She had lived in Georges Mills for 10 years previously and before that had lived in Providence, R.I., Montclair, N.J., Troy, N.Y., Canaan, N.H., and Weston, Mass. Mrs. Rearick was an instructor for the American Association of Retired Persons 55 Alive-Mature Driving Program, teaching at New London Hospital, Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and other locations in the Upper Valley for more than 10 years. Mrs. Rearick attended First Church of Christ, Scientist. She was a member of the SooNipi Quilters Guild. Mrs. Rearick was president of the Sunapee Senior Citizens. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Oct. 14, 1919, the daughter of Willian and Selma (Forstofp Schurmann. Mrs. Rearick graduated high school in Queens, N.Y., and attended New York University. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Richard R. Rearick of New London; two sons, Jon R. Rearick of Georges Mills and Peter C. Rearick of Hebroh, Maine; three grandchildren; one sister, Selma Voorhees of Tacoma, Wash.; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Flossie Burnham, 78
WINDSOR -- Flossie G. Burnham, 78, died Friday (Dec. 20, 1996) at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor. Mrs. Burnham was employed at Dewey's Country Woolen Mill in Quechee, Vt., for 26 years. Most recently she had been employed at the Davis Home for the Aged in Windsor until her retirement in 1993. She was a member and past president of the World War Mothers and of the Emblem Club No. 145, both of Windsor. Mrs. Burnham greatly enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and camping. She was born in Hartford on Aug. 27, 1918, the daughter of Horace and Beatrice (Gibbs) Lewin. Mrs. Burnham received her education in Hartford and Quechee. On June 15, 1934, she married Morris W. Burham in White River Junction, Vt. He died in 1992. Survivors include three daughters, Beatrice Gibbs and Shirley Kibling, both of Windsor and Marie "Maggie" Edwards of Cornish; three sons, Wayne Burnham of Hartland, Thomas Burnham of Claremont and Ralph Burham of Windsor; two brothers, Leon Lewin and Ralph Burnham, both of Woodstock, Vt.; 26 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Harry Gibbs in 1996; and four grandchildren, Chester Burnham in 1982, Margaret Pritchard in 1986, Roger Napsey in 1992 and James Napsey in 1992. Frederic Sibley, 93
WOLFEBORO, N.H. Frederic E. Sibley, 92, of Goodrich Road, died Friday (Dec. 19, 1996) at his home, after a long illness. Mr. Sibley was a Walpole native and resident in his youth. He lived most of his adult life in Stow, Mass., and moved to Wolfeboro in 1992. Mr. Sibley owned and operated Frank Sibley and Son Poultry Farm with his father, from 1926 through the 1950's. He later worked for Thomas Taylor and Sons in Hudson, Mass. He was a member of the Unitarian Church of Hudson, Mass. He was a 50 year Mason in the Doric Lodge in Massachusetts. Mr. Sibley also belonged to the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. He was born in Walpole on March 27, 1904, the son o Frank B. and Agnes B. (Manning) Sibley. Mr. Sibley was a Walpole High School graduate and the University of New Hampshire class of 1926. He met his wife, Catherine (Swett) Sibley at a college reunion in 1961. Survivors include one son, H. Wilbur Ford of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one daughter, Marilee Ford Wyman of Wolfeboro; four grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. George Roberts, 82
SPRINGFIELD -- George M. Roberts, 82, of River Street, died Wednesday (Dec. 25, 1996) in his home after a long illness. He had been a Springfield resident since 1942 and had previously resided in Westmore, Vt., for many years. Mr. Roberts had worked for the Bryant Grinder Co. for several years. In 1977, he retired from the Fellows Gear Shaper Co. after working more than 25 years there. He was a member of Local United Electric Workers Union No. 218 in Springfield. Mr. Roberts was a former member of the Springfield Rod % Gun Club and was an avid fisherman. He was a member of both the Westmore Men's Club and the Westmore Association. He was born in Barnet, Vt., on Feb. 22, 1914, the son of John and Grace (Paquin) Roberts. Mr. Roberts attended schools in Cabot, Vt., Danville, Vt., and St. Johnsbury, Vt. On Dec. 21, 1935, he married Ruth A. Rash in Barton, Vt. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Roberts of Springfield; two daughters, Mrs. Roger (Barbara A.) Perkins of Storrs, Conn., and Mrs. Albert (Nancy A.) Roberts-Schweitzer of Lebanon, N.H.; one son, Charles J. Roberts of Huntington, Vt.; nine grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Westmore, to be announced. BEDFORD, N.H. -- Helen B. (Betley) Stacy, died Friday (Dec. 20, 1996) at her home, after a brief illness. After her marriage she lived in Washington, D.C., and was the manager at Sak's Beauty Salon. She was born in Manchester, N.H., the daughter of Ignacy and Maryanna (Dulak) Betley. Mrs. Stacy was a graduate of anchester Central High School, Hesser Business School and Margaret's Beauty School. Survivors include three sisters, Ann Armstrong of Springfield, Emlen Cote of Bedford and Jane Shea of Ellington, Conn.; one stepson, Martin H. Stacy of Simpsonville, S.C.; one niece and two nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis M. Stacy on May 6, 1996. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Hedwig Church in Bedford. CHARLESTOWN -- James Henry Child, 75, of Summer Street died Sunday (Dec. 22, 1996) at the Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont after a short illness. He had been a Charlestown resident for the past 50 years. Mr. Child worked as a machinist for Bryant Grinder Corp., Jones & Lamson Machine Company, Fellows Corp., all of Springfield, Jacobs Machine of Charlestown, Fuller Machine of Alstead and Pratt & Whitney in Hartford, Conn. He retired in 1985, after working for Stanley Paving and also had previously worked for Don Highter Concrete, both of Charlestown. He had played baseball for the town teams of Farmington, N.H., Alstead and Charlestown. Mr. Child was a former member of the Springfield Bowling League. He was born in Farmington on Dec. 31, 1920, the son of Charles Everett and Nellie Susan (Fletcher) Child. Survivors include twin daughters, Mrs. John (Susan C.) Brooks of Newcastle, Maine, and Mrs. Charles (Sylvis C.) Fry of Walpole; one son, Charles L. Child of Charlestown and Essex, Vt.; 10 grandchildren; and one sister, with whom he made his home since 1955, Florence Bingham of Charlestown. He was predeceased by his wife, M. Lorraine Child in 1972; one brother, Charles E.T. Child; one sister, Ethel M. Child; and twin brother and sister, Donald and Dorothy Child. CLAREMONT -- Linda E. Belanger LaMere, 46, of Paddy Hollow Road, died Thursday (Dec. 19, 1996) at Valley Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Ms. LaMere was a lifetime area resident. She had been employed as a solderer by Thermal Dynamics in Lebanon, N.H., and previously had been employed as a machine operator by Homestead Industries in Claremont and had also worked at Ben's Market as a sales clerk. Ms. LaMere was an accomplished seamstress and an excellent craftswoman. She was born in Claremont on Dec. 2, 1950, the daughter of Leonard and Jennie (Gaulette) LaMere. Ms. LaMere was a 1969 graduate of Stevens High School. Survivors include two daughters, Sonya Hoisington of Claremont and Francine Emerson of Manchester, N.H.; one son, Stephen Paul Temple of Cranston, R.I.; four grandchildren; one sister, June M. Benson of Tampa, Fla.; her longtime companion, Frank 'Rodriguez of Claremont; and several nieces and nephews. Myrtle Merrill, 98
SPRINGFIELD -- Myrtle C. Merrill, 93, died Saturday (Dec. 21, 1996) at the Springfield Hospital. Mrs. Merrill had resided in the Windsor-Weathersfield area for most of her life and moved to Springfield to live with her daughter in 1994. This past February, she moved to the Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Merrill was a 4-H leader in Brownsville for many years. She held various town offices positions in West Windsor for several years. Mrs. Merrill was a member the Home Demonstration Club in Ascutney and Club 39 Senior Citizen's Group in Windsor. She was born in Andover, Vt., the daughter of Ellis and Lizzie (McMahon) Clay. Mrs. Merrill attended schools in West Windsor and Windsor. On March 23, 1923, she married Louis C. Merrill in Claremont. He died in 1974. Survivors include one daughter, Eleanor J. Houghton of Springfield; two brothers, Lawrence Clay of West Hartford, Vt., and Ronald Clay of West Windsor; one sister, Hazel Hodgeman of Springfield; two grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; two greatgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers and one sister. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Ascutneyville Cemetery in Ascutney. Ruth Hood, 80
WINDSOR -- Ruth L. Hood, 80, died Monday (Dec. 23, 1996) at her home in Windsor. Mrs. Hood was a Windsor resident since 1941, and had previouly resided in Lebanon, N.H., for three years. Since 1974, she had spent winters in Tavares, Fla., and summers in her Windsor home.
Mrs. Hood had been employed at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Windsor from 1947 until retirement in 1971. She was born in South Pomfret, Vt., on April 20, 1916, the daughter of George and Lula (De Rosia) Barron. Mrs. Hood attended grade school in South Pomfret and graduated from Woodstock (Vt.) High School in 1934. On Nov. 26, 1938, she married Clarence J. Hood in Lebanon. He died in 1989. Survivors include one daughter, Donna K. Duling of Windsor; one son, James E. Hood of Saxtons River; two sisters, Myrtle Mulroy of Tavares and Pauline Maynes of White River Junction, Vt., and Tavares; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Gordon Barron in 1995.
Graveside service will be held in accordance with her wishes at the St. Francis Cemetery in Windsor in the spring. NEWPORT -- Alexander J. Bowlan Jr., 67, of Cary Street, died Tuesday (Dec. 10, 1996) at Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont. He was a longtime Newport resident. Mr. Bowlan began working in the lumber business with his father at a young age, managed lumber businesses for others for 15 years, and then was selfemployed in both lumber wholesale and retail for 25 years before retiring in 1991. He was born in Plymouth, N.H., on March 20, 1929, the son of Alexander J. and Iva P. (Williams) Bowlan Sr. Mr. Bowlan attended Newport schools. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Fern (Menard) Bowlan of Newport; two daughters, Nancy Durgin and Judy Bowlan, both of Newport; three grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. NEWPORT -- Barbara M. Tucker, 64, of Laurel Street, Friday (Dec. 6, 1996) at the New London Hospital in New London, N.H. She was a Newport native and lifelong resident. She was employed with the Sportwelt Shoe Co., of Newport for 10 years and for Tambrands Inc., of Claremont for 19 years. Mrs. Tucker was a member of the Women of the Moose, Newport Lodge. She was born in Newport on Dec. 28, 1931, the daughter of Arthur S. and Leona (Tenney) Johnson. Mrs. Tucker received her education in Newport schools. Survivors include her husband of 14 years, Harris Tucker Jr., of Newport; two sons, Lawrence S. Howard of Newport and Stewart A. Kenney of Loudon, N.H.; one stepdaughter, Linda Howard of Londerry, N.H.; one stepson, Donald B. Beatrice Messier, 86
CLAREMONT -- Beatrice Messier, 86, formerly of School Street in Claremont, died Monday (Dec. 9, 1996) at the Newfield House Nursing Home in Plymouth, Mass. She was a Claremont native and near-lifelong resident. She moved to Massachusetts to be near her son in October 1993, and has been in the nursing home since September 1995. Mrs. Messier was a member of the St. Anne Society. She was born in Claremont on June 24, 1910, the daughter of Jospeh and Melina (Beauregard) Dubreuil. On June 24, 1929, she married Gaston C. Messier. He died on May 14, 1990. Survivors include one son, Norman Messier of Pembroke, Mass., and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by one brother, Joseph Dubreuil, in Dec. 1956. Edward Avery, 77
ALSTEAD -- Edward G. Avery, 77, of Liberty Avenue, died Saturday (Dec. 7, 1996) at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in White River Junction, Vt., after a period of failing health. He had lived in Keene, N.H., for several years, also in Florida and Gilsum, N.H., prior to his move to Alstead eight year ago. Mr. Avery had worked for many years for Bibeau's Keene Hardware Store in Keene. While in Florida, he was a hardware division manager at House of StufK After returning to New Hampshire, he worked at Jack's True Value in Keene. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Coastal Artillery Division as a warrant officer. Mr. Avery was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 799 in Keene. He was a former member of the Gilsum Police Department. Mr. Avery was a member of the Third Congregational Church of Alstead. He was born in Stamford, Conn., on Sept. 23, 1919, son of Ralph and Elizabeth P. (Meistey) Avery. Survivors include his second wife, Edna (Stoddard) Avery of Alstead; three sons, Kenneth E. Avery of Marlow, N.H., Ronald A. Avery of Jerico, Vt., and Robert B. Avery of North Swanzey; one brother, Roger Avery of Keene; one sister, Ruth Wiens of Lake Oswego, Ore.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. CROYDON -- Edward J. Perry, 35, of Old Route 10, died Saturday (Dec. 7, 1996) at New London Hospital. He had been an area resident for the past 12 years. Mr. Perry was a self-employed building contractor for the past six years. He was a member of the Mountain View Archery Club. Mr. Perry was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard in Woods Hole, Mass. He was born in Hartford, Conn., on July 10, 1961, the son of Ronald and Sandra (Brackoneski) Perry. Mr. Perry attended schools in Windsor Lock, Conn. Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Lynda (Middleton) Perry of Croydon; one son, Eric Perry of Croydon; one daughter, Vanessa Perry of Croydon; one brother, Robert Perry of Somers, Conn.; two sisters. Leslie 'Red' Clough, 68
CLAREMONT -- Leslie "Red" R. Clough, 68, of Airport Hill Road, died Tuesday (Dec. 10, 1996) at the home of his daughter after a long illness. He was a Claremont native and lifelong resident. Mr. Clough was the executive director of the Community Youth Advocates and Chandler House for 17 years, retiring in 1994. He was previously a bailiff in the Claremont court system for several years. Mr. Clough helped many kids who needed guidence in their lives, and in 1979 he was involved with the New Hampshire Federation for Youth Services. On July 29, 1980, he was appointed by the governor and executive council to the Commission of Children and Youth for one year. He was reappointed in 1981 to a five-year term, and in 1993 he received an award from Gov. Merrill. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Clough was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Claremont. He was born in Claremont on April 16, 1928, the son of Eugene and Ellen (McElreavy) Clough. Mr. Clough attended Stevens High School. Survivors include his wife, Doris (Duff) Clough of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one son, Mark Clough of Weathersfield Bow; one daughter, Penny Walker of Claremont; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two brothers, James Clough and Raymond Clough, both of Claremont; four sisters, Mildred Mudgett and Marion Davis, both of Claremont, Marguerite Pascale of Sebastian, Fla., and Marjorie Lewis of Sarasota, Fla.; also aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Harold Clough, and one sister, Madeline O. Pederson. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Mary Church. Interment
will follow in St. Mary Cemetery followed by a reception and luncheon at Penny's home, 16 First St. Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Stringer Funeral Home on Broad Street in Claremont.
Martha Doty, 76
CHARLESTOWN -- Martha Packer Doty, 76, of Scenic Hill Road in North Charlestown, died Thursday (Dec. 5, 1996) of heart failure in her home in Scotland. Mrs. Doty divided her time among her homes in North Charlestown, Key West, Fla., and Scotland. In 1972, with her second husband, Robert M. Doty, she started Bomar Inc. on West Street in Charlestown, which they owned and operated until they sold it in 1990. Mrs. Doty traveled all over the world. She was born in Turtle Creek, Pa., on Jan. 17, 1920. Survivors include her husband, Robert Doty of North Charlestown; four daughters, Linda Ross of Claremont, Merry Victoria Hollis of Houston, Del., Kathy Iuliucci of Allendale, N.J., and Barbara Broadhead of Bradenton, Fla.; one son, William Randall Ross of Newtown, Conn.; 13 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; three brothers, Joe Packer of Charlestown, Donald Briggs of Jefferson, Maine, and Edward Kress of Seattle, Wash.; also nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the United Church of Acworth "on the hill" in Acworth with the Rev. Marvin Schmid, pastor, and the Rev. Dr. Arnold Miller of Florida co-officiating. Interment
will be at a later date in the Westport, Conn., United Methodist Church Memorial Garden. Mary Houle, 62
WINDSOR -- Mary A. Houle, 62, died thursday (Dec. 5, 1996) at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. She was a longtime Windsor resident. Mrs. Houle had worked at Tambrands Inc., in Claremont for the past 35 years. She was a member of the Rachel S. Harlow United Methodist Church in Windsor where she was a member of the Deborahs. She was born in South Portland, Maine on Oct. 17, 1934, the daughter of Norman and Vera (Doughty) Anderson. Mrs. Houle received her education in South Portland and Bethel, Vt., and was a 1953 graduate of Bethel High School. On June 13, 1953, she married William Jerry Houle in Windsor. He died Jan. 3, 1985. Survivors include two daughters, Dianne O'Classen of Goshen, Vt., and Sandi Taylor of Tampa, Fla.; her stepmother, Olive Anderson of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; one sister, Norma Wentworth of Exeter, N.H.; three grandchildren; also nieces and nephews. There will be no formal funeral service. Visiting hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. Mildred Chartrand, 88
NEWPORT -- Mildred G. Chartrand, 88, formerly of 44 Maple St., died Tuesday (Dec. 10, 1996) at the Sullivan County Home in Unity after a long illness. She had been a Newport resident most of her life. Mrs. Chartrand had worked in area shoe manufacturing firms including Sportwelt Shoe Co. She was born in South Manchester, Conn., on April 4, 1908, the daughter of Edward and Gertrude (Mannel) Pfeiffer Emerson. Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Austin of Newport; two sons, Wilfred Chartrand of St. Paul, Minn., and Edward Chartrand of Shelbyville, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Tubbs of Okanogan, Wash.; four brothers, Wallace Emerson of Sumter, S.C., Henry Emerson of Claremont, Fred Emerson of Roanoke, Va., and George Emerson of Springfield, Mass.; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred Chartrand in 1962. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick Church in Newport with the Rev. Joseph Mahoney, pastor, officiating. Interment

Nicholas Haserlat, 74
NEWPORT -- Nicholas C. Haserlat, 74, of Pine Street, died Wednesday (Dec. 4, 1996) at the Datmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. He was a Newport native and lifelong resident. Mr. Haserlat was employed as a meat cutter manager for the A&P Tea Company grocery stores in Newport and Lebanon for 23 years. He then worked at the New Hampshire State Liquor Store in Newport for 13 years before retirement in 1985. He served the Town of Newport as a volunteer fire fighter for more than 30 years. Mr. Haserlat was a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church. He belonged to the Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge No. 15 in Newport. Mr. Haserlat was also a member of the John Cain Golf Club for many years. He was born in Newport on Sept. 16, 1922, the son of Costas and Effie (Ambargis) Haserlat. Mr. Haserlat was a 1943 graduate of Towle High School. Survivors include his wife, Eunice (Michaelson) Haserlat of Newport; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Christy Haserlat, Peter Haserlat, Leon Haserlat and Robert Haserlat. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church with Fr. N. Katules officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. KEENE, N.H. -- Phyllis W. Butler, 76, of Autumn Leaf Village, died Thursday (Dec. 5, 1996) at the Genesis ElderCare in Keene. She had been a Keene resident since 1954. Mrs. Butler had worked at Cheshire Medical Center and before that, Keene State College and Princess Shoe Co. She was born in Brattleboro, Vt., on Aug. 4, 1920, the daughter of Ralph and Stella (Phelps) Wilson. Mrs. Butler attended schools in Brattleboro. Survivors include two sons, Gerald C. Hughes of Bellows Falls and David C. Hughes of Surry, N.H.; one daughter, Carol A. Hughes of Keene; three grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Services were held Saturday at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro St., in Keene. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Winchester, N.H. Ruth Harlow, 80
ASCUTNEY -- Ruth M. Harlow, 80, died Saturday (Dec. 6, 1996) at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center's Skilled Nursing Facility in Windsor. She was a longtime Windsor resident. Mrs. Harlow was employed at the Goodyear Tire R Rubber Company in Windsor for 20 years before retiring in 1967. After retirement, she worked for 10 years at the Howard Johnson Restaurant in White River Junction, Vt. She was born in Hartland on Feb. 1, 1916, the daughter of Frank and Mabel (Olney) Sargent. Mrs. Harlow attended schools in Hartland and was a 1934 graduate of Windsor High School. On Dec. 13, 1936, she married Henry E. Harlow in Windsor. Survivors include her husband, Henry Harlow of Ascutney; four sons, Gordon Harlow and Wayne Harlow, both of Windsor, Ralph Harlow of Hartland and Barry Harlow of Troy, Ohio; two daughters, Barbara Ploeger of Ascutney and Kathie Harlow of Cary, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. CLAREMONT -- Violet May McIntyre, 85, died Friday (Dec. 6, 1996) at the DartmouthHitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. Mrs. McIntyre had been a Ludlow resident for many years. She was born in Weston, Vt., on Oct. 11, 1911, the daughter of Orvis L. and Mary C. (Stevens) Hart. Mrs. McIntyre received her education in Weston. Survivors include one son, Robert G. McIntyre of Weston; one daughter, Sandra Topjian of Claremont; one sister, Ada Paquin of Chester; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grand-children; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Roland S. McIntyre; one daughter, June DeCell; five sisters, Flora Pecor, Eva Downey, Stela Marrow, Ema Cummings and Beatrice Prulex; and two brothers, Henry Hart and Willard Hart. Woodrow 'Woody' Wade, 72
CLAREMONT -- Woodrow W. "Woody" Wade, 72, of Woonsocket Avenue, died Saturday (Dec. 7, 1996) after a long illness. He was a longtime Claremont resident. He had been employed in the Claremont School District as a custodian for seven years and had previously been employed with Dartmouth Woolen for 21 years and Goddard's bakery for one year. Mr. Wade retired from LaValley's Building Supply in 1984, where he had been employed as a truck driver for 19 years. He was born in Hanover, N.H., on May 13, 1924, the son of Bert and Mary (Bill) Wade. Survivors include three daughters, Gloria J. Maheu and Adele M. Ballard, both of Claremont and MSGT's Mary H. and Robert Brittain, USAF, Jacobstown, N.J.; one son, Herbert Wade of Alexandria, Ala.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Wishinski and Marguerite DeCamp, both of Claremont; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie J. Wade in Feb. 1995; and one brother, Theodore Wade in 1928. A graveside committal service will be held at ll a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Cemetery with the Rev. Stanley J. Piwowar, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, officiating. There will be no visiting hours.
