PASS CHRISTIAN - Mr. Ronald Orell "Ronnie" Edwards, 51, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, in Gulfport.
Mr. Edwards was a native of Richton and attended Richton High School and Jones County Community College. He had been a resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast since 1981 and was employed as a maintenance supervisor for the Gulfport Job Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Jo Edwards; a son, Kasey Orell Edwards; a daughter, Kristi Marion Edwards Malley, all of Pass Christian; his mother, Mary S. Edwards of Richton; a sister, Candace E. Daughdrill of Gulfport; two brothers, Joel D. Edwards of Hattiesburg and Jonathan C. Edwards of Richton; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 tonight at Jones Funeral Home in Richton. A service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with burial in Frisco Cemetery.
Gerald Winfield Felton Sr.

GULFPORT - Mr. Gerald Winfield Felton Sr., 84, of Gulfport, died Monday, May 8, 2000, in Gulfport.
Mr. Felton was a native and lifelong resident of Gulfport. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a foreman at Gulfport Creosote Company for 39 years and was a member of the First Free Church of God on Three Rivers Road in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irwin and Sylvia Felton; a son, Gerald W. "G.W." Felton Jr.; two daughters, Sara Christine Felton and Irma Felton; two brothers, Harlan Felton and Louis Felton; two sisters, Virginia Smith and Lorraine Brock; his twin sister, Geraldine Pierce; and a iece, Olkaline Jamison.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Annis Jane "Tug" Felton of Gulfport; a son, William Irvin Felton of Gulfport; two daughters, Joan Devries and Diane Cuevas, both of Gulfport; five grandchildren, Joe Forehand, Sylvia "Sissy" Ladner, Tina Cuevas, Tammy Cuevas and Tina Marie Willis; and four great-grandchildren, Destiny Ladner, Austin Raffeo, BreAnna Willis, and Christian Forehand. He is loved and will be missed by nieces, nephews and friends.

ST. MARTIN - James D. "J.D." Fountain, 81, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, in Biloxi.
Mr. Fountain was born in Jackson County and was a lifelong resident of St. Martin. He was retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding and helped with the building of Keesler Field in the early 1940s. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Carey J. Fountain, Jack Ray Fountain Sr., and Darel P. Fountain; his parents, James O. and Edna Latimer Fountain; and a sister, Vernie Seymour.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Fountain of St. Martin; a daughter, Alice Dale Fitzpatrick of St. Martin; two sons, Wayne A. Fountain Sr. of St. Martin and James M. Fountain of D'Iberville; two sisters, Edna Mae Davis of Baltimore and Avis "Tut" Adolphson of Ocean Springs; 15 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

James Daniel Henry Jr.

GAUTIER - James Daniel "Danny" Henry Jr., 55, died Monday, May 8, 2000, in Gautier.
Mr. Henry was born Dec. 31, 1944, and was employed with K&B Drugs for 30 years and retired from Sav Rex Drugs as district manager. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gautier.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Ann Henry of Gautier; a son, James Daniel Henry III of Ocean Springs; a brother, Kenneth "Chip" T. Henry of Bay St. Louis; and two sisters, Lynn Doleac of Lakeland, Fla., and Deborah Burrow of Clarksdale.
A service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gautier where friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time. A private graveside service will be held for the family. O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gautier is in charge of arrangements.

Timothy Leroy Holliman

PARADISE, Calif. - Mr. Timothy Leroy Holliman, 83, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, in San Francisco.
Mr. Holliman was a native of Gulfport and a resident of California for 50 years. He served in the Selective Service-Intelligence during World War II and was employed in the Secret Service. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was a Woodsman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Meccolena Holliman; five brothers, Johnny Holliman, Clifton Holliman, Oliver Holliman, Jimmy Holliman and Simeon "Sim" Esaias; and two sisters, Frances Goodson and Nona Holliman.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Holliman of Paradise; three daughters, Peggy Gresham of Eugene, Ore., Barbara Freitas of San Francisco and Marlene Aubock of Switzerland; two brothers, Joseph William Holliman and Avon Holliman, both of Gulfport; and two sisters, Theodeausia Holliman Bond and Anna Holliman Banks of Gulfport.

MORGANTON, N.C. - Mrs. Betty Freeman Lytle, 77, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, in Morganton.
Mrs. Lytle was a native of St. Marys, W.Va., and a former resident of Gulfport. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Freeman; and her parents, Louis and Garnett Schaub.
Survivors include her husband, Matthew M. Lytle of Morganton; three sons, Marty Freeman of Long Beach, James Freeman of Dallas, and Rodger Freeman of Milton, Wash.; a daughter, Becky Breland of Drexel, N.C.; a brother, Charles Schaub of Fort Worth, Texas; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

PASS CHRISTIAN - Mr. Thomas Arthur Smith III, 55, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, in Pass Christian.
Mr. Smith was born in Macon, Ga., and had been a resident of the Coast most of his life. He was a member of the Assembly of God in Bay St. Louis. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and was a small engine repairman.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Arthur Smith IV of Bay St. Louis; two sisters, Claudia Moon of Pass Christian and Betty Stechmann of Bay St. Louis; two brothers, Bernard Smith of Pass Christian and Robert Gann Smith of Austin, Texas; and a granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport. A procession will then leave the funeral home at 11 a.m. for an 11:30 graveside service at Biloxi National Cemetery.
Bertram Eugene Barker
GULFPORT - Bertram Eugene Barker, 78, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, in Biloxi.
Mr. Barker was born in Quicksand, Ky., and had been a resident of Gulfport for 11 years. He was retired from the Navy as a LCDR after over 30 years of service. He received the following awards: American Defense Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, China Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, China Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (third award), and American Campaign Medal.
Survivors include a brother, Jake Barker of Lexington, Ky.

Mr. Branch was born May 5, 1938, in Columbia and was a 1957 graduate of 33rd Avenue High School in Gulfport. He retired from the Army in 1980 after 22 years of service and attended the State Police Academy in Jackson. He was employed with the Gulfport Police Department for 15 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Charlie Branch.

PICAYUNE - Mr. Wilbur Harley Goodwin, 90, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, in Picayune.
Mr. Goodwin was a native of Vossburg and was employed for 28 years as a head operator with Texas US Rubber Company in Port Neches, Texas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Picayune where he was a Sunday School Director and a deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Campbell Goodwin of Picayune; three sons, Wingette Harley Goodwin of San Augustine, Texas, the Rev. Dr. John W. GULFPORT - Lewis Walston Harris, 75, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, in Gulfport.
Mr. Harris was born in Yakima, Wash., and had been a resident of Gulfport for two years. He retired from the Air Force in 1971 after over 22 years of service. He received the following awards: Vietnam Service Medal (with three bronze stars), Air Force Commendation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, World War II Victory Medal, and Army of Occupation Medal (with Germany clasp). He was Buddhist.
Survivors include his wife, Emilia Harris of Guadalajara, Mexico; two daughters, Judy Perchonock of Emeryville, Calif., and Lusia Harris of Guadalajara; a son, Paul Harris of Guadalajara; and three grandchildren.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Mr. Linwood Brunner Holston, 77, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, in Biloxi.
Mr. Holston was a sign painter.
Survivors include his wife, Deloris Holston of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Mary Lynn Hockett of Oklahoma City, Diana Lynn Holston of Dell City, Okla., and Victoria Lynn Williamson of Braggs, Okla.; four sons, Joshua Brunner Holston, John A. Thomas David Johnston
ALABAMA PORT, Ala. - Thomas David Johnston, known to most as "The World's Great Fisherman," died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at age 50, in his Alabama Port home.
A memorial service was held at the Mobile Memorial Gardens Chapel on Monday, May 8, 2000.
Formerly of Biloxi, Tom was a longtime resident of Alabama Port, Alabama, where he was employed by the Boat Mart for many years. His love of nature inspired him to write many articles that were published in hunting and fishing magazines. Living in Biloxi, Tom attended Biloxi Schools and during his young years was a self-employed craftsman.
He was preceded in death by his father, TSgt. Alton L. Johnston and brother, Alton Johnston.
He is survived by his mother, Rita Johnston of Biloxi and brothers, James R. Johnston and Mark Timothy Johnston, both of Biloxi, and many nephews and nieces.

Mr. Kennedy was born Feb. 2, 1935, in Pearl River County and was a self-employed Sheetrock finisher. He was a former Mississippi State Highway Patrolman and a former deputy of Jackson County. He was a member of the first Civil Service Commission and was a 32nd degree Mason with East Central Lodge. He was a member of Wade Baptist Church.

Mr. Norman was a native of Glasgow, Ky., and a resident of the Gulf Coast for 32 years. He was retired from the Navy having served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Lykens Norman.

MESQUITE, Texas - Elvin Edward Rogers, 89, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, in Dallas.
Mr. Rogers was born May 6, 1911, in Laurel and was retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pascagoula and a member of Pascagoula Masonic Lodge No. 419, Scottish Rite and Shriner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marquerite Lucille Holstien Rogers; his father, Green Berry Rogers; and his mother, Nevada Louise Rogers.
Survivors include a son, David E. Rogers of Dallas; a sister, Lela Montgomery of Laurel; a brother, Cecil J. Rogers of Menden, La.; and five grandchildren.

GULFPORT - On the evening of May 9, 2000, God in his infinite wisdom, lovingly whispered the name of one of his faithful servants, Mrs. Ella Mae Smith, from her labor to her reward.
Leaving a legacy of love for God, love for her family and dedication to her community. Born to Amos and Lillie Bridges on January 23, 1933, in Silver Creek Mississippi (Lawrence County). Her early education began in Silver Creek, Mississippi. After moving to Gulfport she attended St. Theresa School in the Star Adult Program. Knowing the importance of Education and her determination for her own educational advancement she attended Jefferson Davis Junior College.
She was a dedicated worker for God. Pending her services in any capacity needed. A member of Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she was a member of the Usher Board, Sunday School Teacher, Sr. Choir member and a member of the Local Baptist City Wide Usher Board.
She retired after 26 years of service as a Head Start Teacher with the Harrison County Community Action Agency. The word retirement meant nothing to Mrs. Smith because of her love for people, she kept busy by volunteering with Gulfport Memorial Hospital as an Auxiliary Volunteer. She was also employed with Lockett-Williams' Mortuary, Inc., as an Insurance Agent.
Throughout the Gulfport community one can say Mrs. Smith left an impression. Actively involved with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People as a lifetime member she was crowned Mother of the Year two separate years where she was honored on the Local and State Levels. She was a member of the Heroines of Jericho No. 495-B and a member of the National Council of Negro Women.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, I.V. Bridges and J.J. Bridges, and one son, Willie Earl Smith.
She leaves to carry on her unending legacy a devoted husband of forty-nine years, Mr. B.P. Smith; ine loving daughters, Dora Jones, Linda McNair, Genevia Harvey, Mary Smith, Clementine Woods, Celestine Keyes, Loretta Smith, all of Gulfport, Mississippi, Rosalind Smith-Gage of Saucier, Mississippi, Vanessa Smith of Long Beach, Mississippi; one dedicated son, Charles Edward Smith of Gulfport, Mississippi; three brothers, Leo Bridges, Cleo Bridges and Willie Ray Bridges, all of New Orleans, Louisiana; two sisters, Ollie Mae Brown, also of New Orleans and Lillie Mae Holloway of Silver Creek, Mississippi; two stepsons, Tommy Lee Smith and Dennis Wells; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
The funeral services will be held Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Gulfport at 12 noon, where friends may call one hour prior. Interment

OCEAN SPRINGS - Betty Louise Monk Teague, 69, of Ocean Springs, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Teague was born in Biloxi and was a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast. She worked at the Army/Air Force Exchange from 1951 to 1954 and at West Brothers in Ocean Springs for several years. She was a born again believer of Jesus Christ and was a faithful and lifelong member of Lighthouse Church of God in Biloxi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Brown Teague Sr.; and her parents, Maybelle and Ronald Monk.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Lynn Teague Wilson and her husband, Ed Wilson, of Ocean Springs; a son, Walter Brown Teague Jr. and his wife, Angela Marie Teague, of Saucier; four sisters, Mary Voyvuvoich of Ocean Springs, Eva Fountain, Elaine Lazenby and Mary Verker, all of D'Iberville; six brothers, W.
