Thomas Hulsey Anderson

GULFPORT - Mr. Thomas Hulsey "Hully" Anderson, 82, of Gulfport, died Tuesday, October 17, 2000, in Gulfport.
Mr. Anderson was born in Pontotoc, MS, and had been a longtime resident of Gulfport. He was president of Anderson's Men's Wear, Inc., in Gulfport.
In 1953 Mr. Anderson was chosen the Outstanding Citizen of Gulfport by the Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was a past president of the Gulfport Lion's Club and the Gulfport Chamber of Commerce. In 1957 he was appointed to the Gulfport Port Authority by then Governor J.P. Coleman. Mr. Anderson was a Mason and a Shriner and had been active in various civic endeavors including the Gulfport Community Chest, Red Cross, March of Dimes and the Salvation Army.
During World War II, Mr. Anderson served with distinction in the South Pacific as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
An active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Gulfport, Mr. Anderson served as a Deacon, Elder, Trustee and Superintendent of the Sunday School.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Mary Hulsey Anderson.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Aldrich Anderson of Gulfport; a daughter, Lindley Anderson Buchas and her husband, Charles M. Buchas of Memphis, TN; a son, Thomas Hulsey Anderson, Jr. and his wife, Katherine Milner Anderson of Alexandria, VA; and two granddaughters, Lindley Elizabeth Jackson of Dallas, TX, and Mary Elizabeth Buchas of Memphis; two sisters, Maryanna Popper of Memphis and Jane Ray of New Orleans; and a brother, John Henry Anderson of Lexington, KY.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport. The funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Gulfport where friends may visit an hour before the service. Interment
will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.

Jeanne Audra Boutin

LUMBERTON - Jeanne Audra Boutin, 64, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, in Hattiesburg.
Mrs. Boutin was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include a son, Frances Patrick Boutin II of Purvis; two daughters, Pamela Jean Boutin and J. Renee Boutin of San Diego; three sisters, Evelyn Labertew, Donna King and Linda Perry, all of Lumberton; four brothers, Dean Ward, George Ward and Lyle Ward, all of San Diego, and John Ward of Arkansas; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A service will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at Slade Missionary Baptist Church in Purvis where friends may call one hour before service time. Burial will be in the church cemetery. White Funeral Home in Lumberton is in charge of arrangements.
Elvin C. Cannette

BILOXI - Elvin C. Cannette, 67, of Biloxi, died Sunday, October 15, 2000, in Gulfport.
Mr. Cannette was a native and lifelong resident of Biloxi. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was retired from the Biloxi V.A.M.C. after thirty-four years as a surgical technician. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi and the B.P.O.E. No. 606 in Biloxi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lucy Cannette.
Survivors include his wife, Pola Middleton Cannette of Biloxi; a son, Paul Cannette of Biloxi; a sister, Marie Rhinehart of Biloxi; five brothers, Julius Cannette, Andy Cannette, George Cannette, Lee Cannette, and Michael Cannette, all of Biloxi; and a granddaughter, Sydney Cannette of Biloxi.
The visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. with the Rosary service at 7 p.m. at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi. The Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi where friends may call from 9:15 until service time. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi with military honors.
Mildred W. Conley

OCEAN SPRINGS - Mrs. Mildred White Conley, 90, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, in Ocean Springs.
Mrs. Conley had been a resident of the Coast for the past 15 years and was a native of Nottingham, England. She had been a resident of the United States since 1915 and was employed in a defense plant during World War II. She was a volunteer with the Salvation Army and was of the Lutheran faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Conley.
Survivors include a son, John E. Conley of Ocean Springs; a brother, Fredrick William White of Rochester, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A service will be at noon Thursday at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home where friends may call one hour before service time. Burial will be in Southern Memorial Park in Biloxi.

John Charles Dahn Sr.

BAY ST. LOUIS - Mr. John Charles Dahn, Sr., 81, and a resident of Bay St. Louis, died Monday, October 16, 2000, in Bay St. Louis.
Mr. Dahn was born in Columbus, Ind. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis. He was a charter member and a life member of the American Legion Post 77 in Waveland, MS. He was also a member of the VFW Post No. 3253 in Bay St. Louis.
He attended the University of Indianapolis and graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. During his career as an accountant in the aerospace industry he co-authored the maintenance manual for the Titan II missile.
He was preceded in death by a son, Peter Joseph Dahn; a grandson, Michael John Dahn; his parents, J. Carl and Doris Grace Barnaby Dahn; and two brothers, William Joseph Dahn and Thomas Lee Dahn.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Petro Dahn of Bay St. Louis; four sons, John Charles Dahn, Jr. of Waveland, Jerome Timothy Dahn of Pass Christian, Michael Richard Dahn of St. Cloud, Fla. and Nicholas Edward Dahn of Bay St. Louis; three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Dahn Ferrell of Waveland, Mrs. Mary Dahn Mocklin of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Judith Dahn Williams of Merritt Island, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Ann Heufle of Norfolk, Neb., and Mrs. Martha Jane DeClue of Newbern, Ind.; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Riemann Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis. Recitation of the rosary will be at 8:30 p.m. A procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday at 9:45 a.m. going to Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Gulf Coast Memorial Cemetery in Bay St. Louis.

H. Buchanan Gardner

GULFPORT - H. Buchanan Gardner, 85, of Gulfport, died Monday, October 16, 2000, in New Orleans, LA.
Mr. Gardner was born in Gulfport and spent most of his life in Boston, MA, where he was associated with the legal staff of United Fruit Company. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hanun Gardner and Maude Rucker Gardner and a brother, Tom Gardner.
Survivors include a brother, John M. Gardner and his wife, Mary of Gulfport; two nieces, Jane Gardner Traylor and Kay Gardner Robinson; and six great-nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.

Mrs. Hall was a native and lifelong resident of Perry County and was a former member of Andrew Chapel Methodist Church where she served as church clerk and Sunday School teacher. She was a member of H.A. Brown Memorial United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Hall; and a sister, Lillie F. Breland.

NORTH BILOXI - James M. Schmidt, Sr., 71, of North Biloxi, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, in North Biloxi.
Mr. Schmidt was a lifelong resident of the Coast. He was a retired asbestos worker with Local No. 55 of Mobile, AL. He was also a retired shrimp captain of the Captain Bradley.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bradley E. Schmidt; and a brother, Charles Wesley Schmidt.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Torries Schmidt of St. Martin; a daughter, Mary K. Copelen and her husband, Tracy of St. Martin; a son, James M. Schmidt, Jr., and his wife, Donna of D'Iberville; his mother, Mary Herring Schmidt of St. Martin; a sister, Naomi Schmidt Seymour and her husband, Rev. Norwood of Woolmarket; a sister-in-law, Theresa Schmidt of St. Martin; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous friends and relatives.

BILOXI - Albert C. "Pete" Seay, 74, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, in Biloxi.
Mr. Seay was born in Vaughn and retired from the Air Force as a Tech Sergeant in August 1969 after 27 years of service. He served during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald D. Seay.
Survivors include two daughters, Pam Dalton of Ocean Springs and Tina Laufhette of Biloxi; a son, Clifton Seay of Ocean Springs; three sisters, Clara Irwin of Canton, Inez Speaks of Madison, and Camille Seay of Pascagoula; a brother, Carl Seay of Dallas; and four grandchildren.
