Forrest Rogers
Forrest Rogers, 73, of Spencer, died at 5:51 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2003, in the CAMC-Memorial Hospital, Charleston, after a short illness.
He was born January 22, 1930, at Newton, a son of the late J. Clark and Orva Hicks Rogers. Mr. Rogers was a former employee of the W.Va. Dept. of Highways and the Monarch Rubber Shop, Spencer.
Survivors include his wife, Nora Mullins Rogers of Spencer; four sons and daughters-in-law, James and Lana Rogers, Jerry and Peggy Rogers, Tracy and Amy Rogers, Billy and April Rogers all of Spencer; brother, William Gail Rogers of Massillon, OH; one sister, Lewanda Hickel of Dundalk, MD; 15 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Hersey Rogers and one infant brother.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, December 10 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Homer Hensley officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.

Evelyn E. Husk
Evelyn E. Husk, 86, of Parkersburg, died at 2:45 p.m., Sunday, December 7, 2003, in the St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.
She was born November 17, 1917, in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Ernest Ray and Anna Hicks Harold. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Otmer Elmore; two great grandchildren, Ashley Elmore and Stacey Shaffer.
Mrs. Elmore was a retired motel owner and operator in the Orlando, FL area. She was also a charter member of the Linden Chapter No. 152, Order of the Eastern Star, Linden and a member of the South Parkersburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Drake of Rockport; a son, Ray Elmore of Tariff; asister, Susie Boggs of Cocoa, FL; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, December 10 at 11:00 a.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Robert A. "Bob" Keen officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service.
Evelyn E. Husk
Evelyn E. Husk, 69, of Palestine, died at 5:55 a.m., Thursday, November 27, 2003, in the Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, OH, after an extended illness.
Mrs. Husk was born March 14, 1934, at Hur, Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Commodore and Eula Tanner Carpenter. She was a homemaker and a Protestant.
Survivors include her husband, Stephen Husk of Palestine; sons, Kenneth and Donald Husk both of Palestine, Marvin Husk of Hubbard, OH, Ray Husk of Ashtabula, OH and John Husk of Lancaster, OH; stepmother, Ruth Starcher of Mt. Zion; brother, Lenny Carpenter of Spencer; half brothers, Danny Carpenter of Calhoun County and Timmy Carpenter of Creston.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Duane Husk in 1987; and a half brother, David Michael Carpenter.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday, December 1 at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Matt Hornbeck, the Rev. Emzy Ashby and the Rev. David Clavert officiating. Burial will be in the Husk Cemetery, Hur.

Ethel "Lil" Sallie
Ethel "Lil" Sallie, 85, of Parkersburg, formerly of Spencer, died Monday, May 26, 2003, in the Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, after an extended illness.
She was born October 27, 1917, in Cannonsburg, KY, a daughter of the late George and Rosa Stewart Adkins. She was a former employee of Kellwood Corp., Spencer. Mrs. Sallie was a member of the Wetzel Chapter No. 27, Order of the Eastern Star and the Roane General Hospital Auxiliary. She was a Christian and attended the Bethel Baptist Church, Parkersburg. She formerly attended the Peniel United Methodist Church, Peniel.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine "Beanie" and Darrell Smith of Parkersburg; sons and daughter-in-law, J.L. Sallie, Jr. of Sandyville, Phillip and Donna Sallie of Crown Point, IN; sisters, Virginia Davis of Arizona and Evelyn Pennington of Raceland, KY; 11 grandchildren, Cheryl Wingrove, Beverly Morgan, Denise Hoover, David Smith, Brent Smith, Patricia Holbert, Barbara Clelland, Jim Sallie, Pam Wallace, Richard Sallie and Jan Miller; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Sallie, Sr; one daughter-in-law, Evelyn R. Sallie; one sister, Della; five brothers, Denny, John D., Amos, Cecil and George.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday, May 30 at 1 p.m. in the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Randall Kochersperger officiating. Ella M. Ellison
Ella M. Ellison, 82, of Liverpool died Monday, May 19 in Roane General Hospital, Spencer, after an extended illness.
She was born January 8, 1921, at Reedy, WV, a daughter of the late Charles and Anna Newhart Polin. She had worked as a nurse's aide at Spencer Hospital and Roane General Hospital. She was a former co-owner and operator of Ellison's Grocery. She attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Reedy.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirlene Fluharty of Liverpool; one son, Harry Lee Ellison of Reedy; one sister, Susie Cottle of Spencer; two brothers, Russell Polin of Liverpool and Joe Polin of Millersburg, OH; seven grandsons and 20 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Clifford Ellison; one son, William Everett Ellison; and one brother, Tom Polin.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 21 at 11 a.m. at the Ellison Cemetery, Liverpool, with Pastor John Ellison officiating. There will be no visitation.

Elizabeth E. Knopp
Elizabeth E. Knopp, 91, of Spencer, died Tuesday, November 18, 2003, in the Miletree Healthcare Center, Spencer, after an extended illness.
She was born November 7, 1912, at Gay, a daughter of the late Sandusky and Maggie Parsons Harpold. Mrs. Knopp was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Zion Community Church, Gay.
Survivors include her husband, Durward Knopp, Sr. of Spencer; one daughter, Connie Starcher of Spencer; two sons, Howard Knopp of Leon and Durward Knopp, Jr. of Ripley; eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, November 22 at 1:00 p.m. in the Mt. Zion Community Church, with the Rev. Daniel R. "Danny" Whited officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Gay.

Earl J. Taylor
Earl J. Taylor, 92, of Springfield, MO and Elkview, WV went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2003 at CAMC-General Hospital, Charleston.
He was born April 3, 1911 in Roane County a son of the late Ezra and Nora Vineyard Taylor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Hallie Mangus Taylor; brothers, Ralph, Howard and Emory Taylor; sisters, Gertrude Moffatt, Gatha Hunt and June Zaayer.
Mr. Taylor was retired from the State of West Virginia.
Survivors include a son, William "Bill" Taylor of Springfield, MO; daughters, Earline Cobb of Elkview, Paula Patton and Nora Garnett Taylor both of Phoenix, AZ; brothers, Opie Taylor of Valdosta, GA and French "Bill" Taylor of Walton; sisters, Georgia Elmore and Justine Paxton both of Walton; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Donna Sue Gandee
Donna Sue Gandee, 51, of Elizabeth, died at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2003, in Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, after a brief illness.
She was born December 4, 1952, in Painesville, OH, a daughter of the late Doral Clare and Nina Olive McCroskey Boice. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Duane Boice.
Mrs. Gandee was a homemaker. She was formerly employed as a day care center attendant, waitress and caregiver to the elderly. She was a Christian.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Edward Gandee of Elizabeth; son and
daughter-in-law, Thomas Duane and Marlayna Gandee of Elizabeth; grandchildren, Donovan, Dustin and Skyler Gandee; father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Lora Gandee of Parkersburg.
A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, December 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Leon B. Strickland officiating. Burial will
be in the Hill Grove Cemetery #2, Palestine.

Delsie Erma Greathouse
Delsie Erma Greathouse, 85, of Spencer, died Wednesday, October 8, 2003, in the Roane General Hospital, Spencer.
She was born May 19, 1918, in Spencer, a daughter of the late Cecil Raymond and Laura Mae Wine Niday. She was a homemaker. She was a longtime active member of the Boggs Fork Community Church, where she served as church secretary and Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Boggs Fork Homemaker's Club and Farm Women's Club. She enjoyed reading, sewing, flower gardening and, especially, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, William W. "Bill" Greathouse, whom she married January 18, 1941; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Bill Smith of Parkersburg, Peggy and Don Alvis of Spencer; grandchildren, Mrs. Robin (Tim) Utt of Parkersburg, Rev. Wade (Angie) Branard of Canton, OH, Mrs. Lisa (Dean) Hays of Mineral Wells, Miss Stacy Branard of Columbus, OH, Mrs. Tara (Ryan) Goldsmith of Washington; great grandchildren, Brooks and Ashleigh Utt, Brittany Branard, Nicole Hays and Kiley Goldsmith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, William Kevin Greathouse; brother, Mr. Clell Niday; and sister, Mrs. Eupha Haverty.
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, October 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the Boggs Fork Community Church with the Rev. Charles Davis and the Rev. Wade Branard officiating. Burial will be in the Short Cemetery, Spencer. Friends may call at the church from 6-8 p.m. on Friday.

David Lee Cartwright
David Lee Cartwright, 24, of Elkton, MD, formerly of Spencer, died October 18, 2003, at home.
He was born October 30, 1978, in Cleveland, OH, a son of Bob and Robin Varney of Spencer, WV, and Gary Lee Cartwright of Elkton, MD.
He was a 1997 graduate of Roane County High School, Spencer, WV. He was employed as a warehouse worker.
Survivors include sister, Rebecca V. Cartwright of Elkton, MD; niece, Izabella V. Hatfield of Elkton, MD; paternal grandmother, Delores Larkin of Chesapeake, MD; maternal grandmother, Verna Sharp of Cleveland, OH; aunt, Dee Jay Cartwright of Chesapeake, MD; and cousin, Tiffany Cartwright of Chesapeake, MD.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Frank Clute, and paternal grandfather, Dale Larkin.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 30, at 7 p.m. at Spencer Tabernacle, Spencer, WV, with the Rev. John Bowen officiating. The body was cremated.
Coy Allen Drake
Coy Allen Drake, 58, of Parkersburg, died at 4:36 a.m., Sunday, November 30, 2003, in the Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, after a short illness.
He was born December 4, 1944, at Left Hand, a son of the late Ralph Howard "John" and Ottis Vieva Ledsome Drake. Mr. Drake was a laborer.
Survivors include his twin brother, Roy Ray Drake of Starke, FL; brothers, Paul Drake and Ralph Junior Drake both of Left Hand, Robert L. Drake of Little Hocking, Oh and Roger Drake of Rittman, OH; sisters, Norma Jean Nichols of Clover and Wanda Lee Truman of Waldo, FL; nephew, Ricky Ledsome and his wife, Carolyn and her son, William Toncray, Jr. of Parkersburg; longtime friend, Kay Sprouse and her son, Donnie of Parkersburg; several additional nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tammy Sue Drake; sister, Betty Bradley.

Cordia H. Jeffery
Cordia H. Jeffery, 77, of Spencer, died Tuesday, December 2, 2003, in the Jackson General Hospital, Ripley.
She was born February 14, 1926, in Boone County, a daughter of the late William Shelton and Mamie Susan Ashley Thompson. Mrs. Jeffery was a homemaker.
Survivors include six sons, James Michael Zinn, Clyde Edward Jeffery and Roy Allen Jeffery all of Cleveland, OH, William Harry Jeffery and Lowell Ray Jeffery both of Spencer, Roger Lee Jeffery of Sandyville; three daughters, Ramona Beth Parsons and Sheila Dawn Miller both of Spencer,Robin Elizabeth Zayed of Jackson County; 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Jeffery; one son, Charles Francis Jeffery; one grandson, Christopher Michael Jeffery; two brothers, Harley and William Thompson; two sisters, Estia Hedrick and Icy Pearl Thompson.

Christine Jett Seymoure
Christine Jett Seymoure, 77, of Spencer, died Saturday, August 30, 2003, in the Roane General Hospital, Spencer.
She was born August 24, 1926, in Boone County, a daughter of the late Clintwood Jack and Nellie Blosser Carter. She was a retired post master at the former Pigeon Post Office and a Baptist.
Survivors include three sons, Ronnie and James Jett both of Pigeon, Donnie Jett of Spencer; two daughters, Nella Dunlap of Spencer and Debra Shaffer of Pigeon; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Marlon W. Jett and Martin Seymoure.
A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, September 2 at 3:00 p.m. in the Jett Family Cemetery, Pigeon, with the Rev. Michael F. "Mike" King officiating. There will be no visitation.

Brenda McKown, 47, of Arnoldsburg, died at 2:11 p.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2003, in the Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, OH, after an extended illness.
She was born April 15, 1956, in Roane County, a daughter of the late Charles and Jessie Ward Arthur. Mrs. McKown was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Living God, Spencer.
Survivors include her husband, Pastor Clarence E. McKown of Arnoldsburg; two
stepdaughters, Rebecca Armentrout of Fairplain and Emily Kerby of Arnoldsburg; sister, Linda Conley of Spencer; brother, Douglas Arthur of Spencer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. William Arthur.
