Natalie Pipenhagen
Funeral services for Natalie B. Pipenhagen, 88, Anoka, took place Feb. 1 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Liane Rock officiated.
Pipenhagen died Jan. 29 in Fridley. She was born April 4, 1911 in St. Francis to John Nelson and Effie Clark. She was an Anoka High School graduate and worked at Federal Cartridge and Unity Hospital.
She is survived by her daughters, Joan Church of Coon Rapids and Marjorie Dorholt of Coon Rapids; sons, Mick Pipenhagen of Anoka, Thomas Pipenhagen of Champlin; sister, Marie Gjorvad of New Brighton; brother, Melvin Nelson of Minneapolis; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy W. Pipenhagen; son, James Pipenhagen; daughter, Mary Lou Leider; and sister, Vivian Blesi.
Pallbearers were Norma Hough, Bill Holmes, John Dorholt, Michael and James Pipenhagen, and Ben Parker.
Interment
was at Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove.
Bruce L. Woolery
Funeral services for Bruce L. Woolery, 63, Coon Rapids, took place Feb. 2 at North Heights Lutheran Church of Arden Hills. Rev. Carl Vaagenes officiated.
Woolery died at his home Jan. 29. He was born in St. Paul Aug. 7, 1936 to Lowell and Beatrice Witcher Woolery. He was an Anoka High School graduate and served in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1998 from the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; sons, Ron and Doug (Tathiana); daughter, Debbie (Steve) Johnson; grandsons, Josh, Matt, Andrew, Connor, Brady, Davis and Samuel; daughter-in-law, Lisa and granddaughter, Brittany; Billy Black and son Billy, Jr.; and sisters, Janet, Geri, Sharon and Peggy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son Mark.
Interment
was at Hillside Cemetery of Minneapolis. Arrangements were with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
Josephine Zabaske
Funeral services for Josephine A. Zabaske, 56, Coon Rapids, took place Feb. 10 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Bernard Reiser officiated.
Zabaske died Feb. 6 in Minneapolis. She was born March 19, 1943 in Moose Lake. She was a cashier.
She is survived by her husband, Chester; children, Douglas, Richard, Kathleen, Robert and Darrin; three grandchildren; and brothers, Bernard, Adrian and Jerome Sturgeleski.
Interment
was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Mary Chmel
Funeral services for Mary M. Chmel, 86, Ramsey, took place Jan. 11 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Liane S. Rock officiated.
Chmel died Jan. 8 at her home. She was born May 13, 1913 in Roseau to John J. Fisher and Agnes Havorka.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Resch and husband Dick; son, Gary Chmel and wife Adrianne; grandchildren, Erin and Brett Chmel; sisters, Elsie DeYoung and Helen Heinl; and brothers, John and Donald Fisher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold.
Interment

Dick Elvig
Memorial services for Dick Elvig, 71, Anaheim, Calif., formerly of Brooklyn Park, took place Jan. 8 at First Presbyterian Church of Garden Grove, Calif.
Elvig was born March 19, 1928 in Minneapolis to H.N. and Ruth Elvig. He graduated from Anoka High School and moved to California in 1956, retiring from Motorola in 1994.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Ann Elvig; daughter, Susan Webster; sons, Jeff and Jon Rumble; brother, Don Elvig; and six grandchildren.
Paul H. Fjerstad
Funeral services for Paul H. Fjerstad, 43, Elk River, took place Jan. 7 at Faith Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Valerie Brown-Greenly officiated.
Fjerstad died Jan. 3 in Elk River. He was born May 19, 1956 in Robbinsdale to Richard Fjerstad and Jean Johnsen. He was a machine operator in metal fabricating.
He is survived by his son, Todd; daughter, Corrina; parents, Richard and Jean; sister, Nita; brothers, Bruce and Mark; niece, Elizabeth; nephew, Jason; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Honorary pallbearers were John Plaisance, Cliff and David Moe, Jim Mule, Buzz Goodell, and Ronald Bloom.

Helmer J. Johnson

Johnson died Jan. 4 at Lynwood Health Care Center, Fridley. He was born Jan. 22, 1915 in Duluth to Engwald and Sina Monson Johnson. He was a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Clara; children, Beverly Mudek and husband Leo of Andover, Joanne Salmi and husband Raymond of Plymouth, Gary Johnson and wife Barbara of Ramsey; grandchildren, Julie, Timothy, Jill, Scott and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Steven, Travis, Kendra and Dustin; brothers, Harry Johnson and wife Joyce of Greely, Colo., Erling Johnson and wife Arbutus of Bakersfield, Calif.; sister, Myrnie Kolenda of Duluth; and many other relatives and friends.

Edna Jolicoeur

Jolicoeur died Jan., 7 in Coon Rapids. She was born March 2, 1913 in Maple Lake and was waitress.

William Jonas
Funeral services for William Jonas, 85, Lakeville, formerly of Ham Lake, took place Jan. 10 at Strike Funeral Home, Isanti Chapel. Rev. Paul Lundgren officiated.
Jonas died Jan. 5 in Lakeville. He was born Aug. 4, 1914 in Avoca, Wis., to Wendlin and Anna Jonas. He was a farmer for many years and worked as supervisor for a blacktop plant.
He is survived by his children, Jerry and wife Karen of Prairie Du Sac, Wis., Marianne and husband Bob Whitmoyer of Lakeside, Calif., Jean and husband Arnie Bye of Waukmakee, Wis., John and wife Joanne of Massapequa Park, N.Y., Susan and husband Reon Moraga, of California, Jim and wife Corrine of Prairie Du Sac, Wis.; stepchildren, Norman West of Parkers Prairie, Mary Jane Kunza of Coon Rapids, Linda West of Florida; sister, Mary Peterson of Plattsville, Wis.; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Donald Juliette

Juliette died Jan. 7 in Albert Lea. He was born April 1, 1933 in Yakima, Wash., and was an accountant. He was member of the Knights of Columbus and a Boy Scouts volunteer.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Paul (Lori), Joe (Patty); grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer and Nick; sister, Dorothy Johnson; and other relatives and friends.

LeRoy M. May

May died Jan. 8 at Owatonna Hospital. He was born March 24, 1944 in Anoka to Lloyd J. and Irma A Bettinger May. He was a maintenance mechanic at Federal Cartridge.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Shelley Rocca and husband Matthew of Marion, Iowa, Michelle May of Burns Township; grandson, John; sisters, Marilyn Wattis and husband Newton of Surf City, N.J., Charlene Smith and husband, Harland of New Richmond, Wis., Theresa Wolff and husband Roger of Foley, Barbara May of Burns Township, Nancy Wagner and husband Ron of Woodbury; brothers, Richard and wife Loydene of Foley, Floyd and wife Jan of Rush City, Ronald “Rusty” of Minneapolis, Darwin of Princeton, Dennis and wife Tami of Cedar, Darryl of Anoka; and many other relatives and special friends.

Donald L. Sargent
Funeral services for Donald L. Sargent, 80, Crystal, took place Jan. 6 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Sargent died Jan. 3 at his home. He was born Jan. 4, 1919 in Ranger, N.D., to Bert and Dorothea E. Bentien Sargent. He was retired from Union 76 Oil Company and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Joan (David) Mason of Coon Rapids; sons, James (Lea) Bourassa of Crystal; Robert Bourassa of Arizona; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Buzz (Bette) Sargent of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Pam Mason.

Edward Washtock

Washtock died Jan. 6 in Coon Rapids. He was born May 25, 1912 in Frazee and was an engineer operator.

Watson died Jan., 9 at Osseo Health Care Center. He was born Oct. 23, 1915 in Elma, Iowa, to Louis G. Watson and Nora P. Hill. He was machinist at Cornelius Company.
He is survived by his wife Adaline; daughters, Janet Burns and husband Rick of Watertown, S.D., and Janice Minner and husband Larry of Forest Lake; grandchildren, Elisha Burns, Ariella Wilde and husband John, Jr., Jeremy and Angela Minner; and great-grandchildren, Austin and Daina Wilde.

Funeral services for LeRoy A. Welch, 82, Shoreview, took place Jan. 12 at Gearhart Coon Rapids Funeral Chapel.
Welch died Jan. 9 in Fridley. He was born Aug. 10, 1917 in Wahpeton to James Welch and Kate Nelson. He was a 31-year employee with the Burlington-Northern Railroad.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene; son and daughter-inlaw, DuWayne and Laurie and son Daryl; daughter, Vickie Fryer; grandchildren, Dan, Tammy, Sheri, Barbara, Brett, Bradley and Melynda; and great-grandchildren, Matthew, Erica, Krista, Shane, Cassandra, Nicholas and Eric.

Gerald J. Willenbring
Funeral services for Gerald J. Willenbring, 57, Andover, took place Jan. 11 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Mike Paquet officiated.
Willenbring died at his home in Andover on Jan. 8. He was born March 10, 1942 at Two Inlets to Walter H. and Barbara M. Waldorf Willenbring, and owned his own drywall business.
He is survived by his wife Bernette “Bert”; children, Curt (Robyn) of Ramsey, Dale of Andover, Daren and his fiancee Jennifer, both of Champlin; granddaughters, Jami and Jordyn, father; Walter (Irene) of Park Rapids; brothers, Ralph (Judy) of Coon Rapids, James of Two Inlets; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Willenbring.

Rudolph G. Zagar, Jr.
Memorial services for Rudolph G. “Rudy” Zagar, Jr., 47, Arden Hills, took place Jan. 14 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Bernard Reiser officiated.
Zagar died Jan. 8 in Garrison in an auto accident. He was born Jan. 13, 1952 to Rudolph G. Zagar Sr., and Betty J. Fix, and was self-employed installer of marble. He was a 1970 graduate of Coon Rapids High School.
He is survived by his companion, Brandy; parents, Rudolph G. Sr. and Betty; sisters, Joan Lobitz, Katie Nelson, Mary Eaton, Carol Korte and Marge Burns; brothers, John and Robert and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his great-nephew, Adam; and grandparents, Peter and Katherine Zagar and August and Helen Fix.

Ivy Lee Alm
Funeral services for Ivy Lee Alm, 98, Blaine, took place at Hegland Lutheran Church, Hawley.
Alm died Jan. 15 in Coon Rapids. She was born Feb. 28, 1901 in Hawley to John Wyland and Elizabeth H. Letterly. She was a teacher.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Marlys and Earl Tommeraasen of Mesa, Ariz., Jeanne Johnson Kvittem of Blaine; and son and daughter-in-law, Loren and Marilyn Alm of Prince George, B.C., Canada.

Anna Behling
Funeral services for Anna Behling, 91, Coon Rapids, took place Jan. 17 at Riverdale Assembly of God. Rev. Larry E. Hale officiated.
Behling died Jan. 15 at Camilia Rose Convalescent Center, Coon Rapids. She was born Jan. 29, 1908 in Norway to Olaf Sundet and Gunvor Olsdtr.
She is survived by her son, Charles Behling and wife Valerie; daughter, Barbara Anderson and husband James; five granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond Sundet and wife Lorraine of Superior, Wis.; sisters, Agnes Peterson of Duluth, Edna Lindberg and husband Harold of St. Louis Park; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R; and brother, William Sundet.
