Eleanor L. Stuber

OLIVIA - Eleanor Loretta Stuber, 87, of Olivia, formerly of the Hector-Buffalo Lake area, died Sunday at the Olivia Healthcare Center.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Olivia. Burial will be in the Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to services. The Hughes Funeral Home of Hector is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Dec. 1, 1912, in rural Buffalo Lake, to Wallace and Mary (Schmul) DeLong. She grew up in the Buffalo Lake area, where she attended rural school.
In September 1931, she married Oscar August Stuber. The couple farmed in the Hector area for 32 years before retiring and moving to Olivia, where Oscar was a handyman. In her later years, she became a resident of the Olivia Healthcare Center.
She is survived by her sister, Althea Johnson of Alexandria, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1988, and seven sisters and brothers.
Kenneth N. Melin

NEW HOPE - Kenneth N. Melin, 73, of New Hope, formerly of Willmar, died Wednesday.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Burial will be in Cloverleaf Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Kapala-Glodek-Malone Chapel in New Hope (612-535-4112), and one hour prior to services.
He was born April 9, 1926, in Pennock, to Gust and Selma Melin. On July 24, 1948, he married Elaine Johnson of Murdock. He was employed by Great Northern Railroad in Willmar from 1949 to 1960, transferring to Minneapolis where he was employed by Burlington Northern Railroad for 23 years.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, four daughters, 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
Todd M. Hyatt

WOOD LAKE - Todd Michael Hyatt, 33, of Wood Lake, died Wednesday at his home in rural Wood Lake.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. today at United Methodist Church in Wood Lake. Burial will be in Wood Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Kulow Funeral Service of Echo.
He was born Oct. 4, 1966, in Marshall, to Robert and Geraldine (Strom) Hyatt. He was a 1985 graduate of Echo-Wood Lake High School and attended Willmar Vo-Tech where he took law enforcement one year and auto mechanics one year. He served in the National Guard. He was employed by Chrysler Dealership of Howard Lake.
On April 15, 1989, he married Misty Peterson in Wood Lake, where they lived. He was employed by Parkview Ford of Granite Falls and later by Wood Lake Elevator.
He is survived by his wife; children Karissa, Brandon and Zachary of Wood Lake; parents of Wood Lake; siblings Pamela (and Michael) Woodbeck of Wood Lake, Robert Hyatt Jr. (and friend Judy Zoss) of Canby, Kelly (and Bill) Webb of Albert Lea, Travis (and Michelle) Hyatt of Waseca, Jamie and Kyle at home in Wood Lake; maternal grandfather Ronald Strom of Balaton; paternal grandmother Frances Hyatt of Tracy; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother and paternal grandfather.
Charles J. Turek

WILLMAR - Charles J. Turek, 93, of Willmar, died Wednesday at Rice Care Center.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar with the Rev. Barbara Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Willmar.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home of Willmar.
He was born July 12, 1906, in Montgomery, to Jacob and Antonette (David) Turek. He was a 1924 graduate of Montgomery High School. He was employed by area farms, the local flour mill, St. Paul Post Office and St. Paul Anchor Hospital (now St. Paul Ramsey) in the purchasing department.
On Aug. 7, 1939, he married Clara Rierson in St. Paul. They moved to Atwater in 1942 and owned Clara and Charly's Café. He served in the United States Navy, receiving six bronze stars. He was employed by Minor-Rodelius Ford of Willmar and General Trading. In 1961, he became co-owner of Cleary, Dudgeon and Turek, CD& T Auto Parts. He sold his portion of the business in 1971. He entered Rice Care Center in December 1999.
He was a member of Willmar American Legion Post 167, Willmar VFW Post 1639, Disabled American Veterans, and Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar.
He is survived by his daughter Charlene (and Darrel) Adams of Willmar; one grandson; sister Adeline McDavitt of Glenndale, Calif.; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 11, 1995, parents, four brothers and one sister.
Ervin G.A. Kutzke

COSMOS - Ervin Gustof Albert Kutzke, 83, of Cosmos, died Thursday at Cosmos Healthcare Center.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hughes Funeral Home in Cosmos, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born Oct. 2, 1916, in Brookfield Township, Renville County, to Albert and Augusta (Kempf) Kutzke. He attended Cosmos area country school. He was employed at a restaurant in Litchfield a year, as then worked for several farmers.
On June 4, 1940, he married Eleanora Schiro in Brookfield Township. They farmed in the Cosmos area, moving to a farm in the Rosendale area in 1947. They retired in 1993 and moved to Cosmos Apartments.
He is survived by his wife; son Roney (and Judie) Kutzke of Grove City; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, three sisters and five infant siblings.
Florence T. Holmgren

LITCHFIELD - Florence Teresa Holmgren, 87, of Litchfield, died Friday at the Emmanuel Nursing Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church in Litchfield with Richard Ricker officiating. Burial will be at Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield.
Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield.
She was born April 9, 1912, in Stanwood, Wash., to Edward and Rosie Anderson. At age 8, she moved to Grove City, where she lived on a farm with her uncle, Francis Anderson, and attended country school until the eighth grade.
She married George E. Holmgren in Grove City, and they farmed together in Manannah. They moved to Litchfield upon reitrement. She moved to Gloria Dei in 1993 and to the Emmanuel Nursing Home in 1999.
She was a member of Manannah Union Church and the ladies aid association, and later was a member of First Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Sylvia Burress of Litchfield and Marion Cogger of Kelliher; son Edward (and Ann) Holmgren of Manannah; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son Richard, two granddaughters and one great-grandson.
Martin O. Hamann

BENSON - Martin Otto Hamann, 91, of Benson, died Thursday at the Swift County-Benson Hospital.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Holloway, with the Rev. Scott Nagel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Jacobson-Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born Oct. 1, 1908, in Tara Township, Swift County, to August Sr. and Martha (Sachs) Hamann. He grew up and attended school in rural Danvers.
On Nov. 8, 1933, he married Eleanor Dorothy Suckow in rural Holloway. They farmed in Holloway until 1975, when they moved to Benson.
He was a member of the School Board District #51 in Fairfield Township and held various offices at St. John's Lutheran Church in Holloway.
He is survived by his wife; sons Harley (and LaVerne) Hamann of Benson, Darrel (and Karen) Hamann of Maple Grove; daughter Phyllis (and Myron) Jensen of Benson; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother Wilbur Sr. (and Lois) Hamann of Benson; sisters Rose Rohloff of Morris and Martha Hamann of Appleton; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, five brothers and three sisters.
Raymond J. Hess

LAKE HENRY - Raymond J. Ness, 82, of Lake Henry, died Saturday at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Lake Henry, with the Rev. Leo Leisen officiating. Burial will in the church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville. Parish prayers will be at 8:15 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born June 20, 1917, in Lake Henry to Edward and Mary (Heisler) Hess. He married Dorothy Fuchs on Nov. 26, 1959, in Lake Henry. He owned and operated Hess Liquor in Lake Henry and farmed in the area before retiring in 1983.
He played baseball for Lake Henry from 1930 to 1950 and was a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church.
He is survived by is wife of Lake Henry, his son Paul (and Connie) of Paynesville, and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and three sisters.
Kathryn D. Hart
BURNSVILLE - Kathryn Denese Hart, 58, formerly of Montevideo, died at her residence in Burnsville.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with the Rev. Warren Broughton officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was born Dec. 15, 1941, in Montevideo to Clarence and Marian (Kirkeby) Hanson. She graduated from Montevideo High School and attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She was employed in the Twin Cities.
She married Gary Hart in Montevideo. As a Navy family they spent more than 20 years at various base locations ‹ including in Virginia, South Carolina, Italy and Florida ‹ before settling in Plymouth in 1981. She was employed most recently in the Burnsville city offices.
She is survived by daughter Natalie (and Keith) Willaert of Apple Valley; two grandchildren; sister Lois (and David) Torgerson of Clinton; brother Terry (and Amelia) Hanson of Jacksonville, Fla.; her ex-husband of Delano and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Leo J. Theis

WILLMAR - Leo James Theis, 84, of Willmar died Saturday at Rice Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar with the Rev. Sandy Hanawalt officiating. Burial will be in the Cloverleaf Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 24, 1915, in Renville County to Peter and Susanna (Fishe) Theis. He grew up on the family farmstead south of Bird Island, where he attended rural school.
On Dec. 20, 1943, he married Doris Alice Godejahn in Richfield. They lived in Arizona while Leo served in the United States Army Air Corps and moved to Willmar in 1946. They moved to Portland for a brief time before returning to Willmar in 1954. He worked for the Willmar Street Department for 29 years,
He attended Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar, was a member of the Minnesota Plowing Association, National Plowman Association and Willmar American Legion Post 167.
He is survived by his three children, Dorene of Savage, Gary (and Carol) of Buffalo and Greg of Spicer; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters Josephine Eldridge of Plymouth, Marie Johnsen of Golden Valley and Catherine Dingels of Bird Island and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and two sisters.
Clarence J. Haberman

EDEN VALLEY - Clarence Joseph Haberman, 87, of Eden Valley and formerly of Litchfield, died Friday at Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Assumption in Eden Valley with the Rev. Virgil Brown officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Eden Valley.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today, with 8 p.m. parish prayers, at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, and one hour prior to services at the church Tuesday.
He was born Nov. 12, 1912, to Emil and Amelia (Rotter) Haberman in LaCrosse Township, Jackson County. Soon after, the family moved to Devils Lake, N.D., where he attended school through the eighth grade. He then worked on a farm near Dundee.
In 1936, he married Florence Stueve. They farmed near Dundee and moved in 1940 to St. Cloud, where he managed a filling station. In 1941, they moved a Stearns County farm, and he began hauling milk for Farmers Creamery. They left the farm in 1947, and while continuing to work for the creamery, he began working in quality control. They lived in several places, including St. Joseph and Avon, and moved to Eden Valley in the early 1970s before retiring in the mid-1980s. In 1998 he moved to Litchfield, and in 1999, he moved to the Valley Country Care Center in Eden Valley.
He is survived by son Roderick (and Elizabeth) of Holdingford, daughter Sharon (and James) Dlugosch of Arden Hills, nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Jon R. Hintze

HECTOR - Jon Richard Hintze, 55, of Hector, died Saturday at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Hector. Burial will be in the Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hughes Funeral Home in Hector, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born Aug. 23, 1944, at Jamestown, N.D., to Charles and Dorothy (Lehrke) Hintze. He grew up in the Jamestown area and graduated from high school there, later continuing his education at the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton.
On Nov. 6, 1965, he married Lorraine M. Toren at Bird Island. The couple lived in Hector, and he worked at Tiramic Tile Co., Loftness Manufacturing and American Welding Supply Inc. in Willmar. Since 1983, he worked at Falcon Industries in Cosmos until becoming ill.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Hector, a charter member of the Jaycees, and a member of the Hector Fire Department and First Responders for 27 years, including nine years as fire chief.
He is survived by his wife of Hector; daughters Deitra (and Scott) Collins of Apple Valley and Kristin (and Dwayne) Naab of Fairmont; three grandchildren; brother Ron (and Donna) of Fargo, N.D., and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Josephine M. Benson

WILLMAR - Josephine Mary Benson, 90, of Willmar died Saturday at the Ashwood Health Care Center in Willmar.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Assembly of God Church, Willmar, with the Rev. Paul McCullough officiating. Burial will be in Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.
She was born Jan. 10, 1910, in Dunn City, N.D., to Joseph and Mary (Paulson) Bergquist. In 1926, she moved to Sacred Heart.
She married Alert J. Benson on Nov. 9, 1927. They farmed for more than 30 years in the Renville, Sacred Heart and Granite Falls areas until moving to the Willmar area in 1968. She was a homemaker and seamstress. In May 1993, she moved to Ashwood Health Care Center.
She is survived by three daughters, Sadie (and Dean) Gillings of Wadena, Yvonne Corey of Willmar and Gloria (and Gary) Siegfried of Willmar; 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1985, daughter Junnette, one grandson, one great-grandson, four sisters and one brother.
