Ruth W. Feine

BUFFALO LAKE - Ruth W. Feine, 81, of Buffalo Lake, formerly of Hector, died Wednesday at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hector. Burial will be in Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Hughes Funeral Home.
She was born July 14, 1918, in Rushford, to Sigurd and Gusta (Knutson) Jaastad. She was a graduate of Rushford High School and attended Winona State Teachers College.
On Sept. 14, 1941, she married John Feine in Bovey. They lived in Hart and Red Lakes Falls, where he operated a creamery and she did the bookkeeping. They moved to Hector in 1948. They owned and operated Hector Dairy until the early 1960s, when they went into partnership as R&J DX. She was employed by the telephone company from 1963 to 1980, when she retired.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, active in circle and quilting groups, and American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughters Karen (and Lowell) Kirgiss of Garfield, Ark., Judi (and Lyle) Olson of Duluth; two grandchildren; brother Karrol Jaastad of Rushford; sister Sygne Adams of Alexandria, Va.; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter, two brothers and one sister.
Eleanor L. Stuber

OLIVIA - Eleanor Loretta Stuber, 87, of Olivia, formerly of the Hector-Buffalo Lake area, died Sunday at the Olivia Healthcare Center.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Olivia. Burial will be in the Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to services. The Hughes Funeral Home of Hector is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Dec. 1, 1912, in rural Buffalo Lake, to Wallace and Mary (Schmul) DeLong. She grew up in the Buffalo Lake area, where she attended rural school.
In September 1931, she married Oscar August Stuber. The couple farmed in the Hector area for 32 years before retiring and moving to Olivia, where Oscar was a handyman. In her later years, she became a resident of the Olivia Healthcare Center.
She is survived by her sister, Althea Johnson of Alexandria, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1988, and seven sisters and brothers.
Louis A. Pitka

PAYNESVILLE - Louis A. Pitka, 76, of Paynesville, formerly of St. Paul, died Thursday at Paynesville Area Hospital.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in South St. Paul.
Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m., with 7:30 p.m. parish prayers, Sunday, at Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born Dec. 21, 1923, in Olivia, to Charles and Frances (Karnik) Pitka. On Nov. 8, 1952, he married Jean Weiszel in St. Paul. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He lived in St. Paul most of his life, employed by Swifts and Company of South St. Paul and later by American National Can of St. Paul. He moved to Paynesville in 1989.
He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church of Paynesville.
He is survived by his wife; children Kathy Grater of West St. Paul, John Borgan of St. Paul, Candice Zschokke of Paynesville, Gloria Johnson of South St. Paul, Lois Thompson of Bloomington, Mary Downes of Atwater, Lou Allen Pitka of St. Paul; 24 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister Rose Hesse of St. Paul.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and three grandchildren.
Walfred C. Belling

BELGRADE - Walfred Carson Belling, 88, of Belgrade died Thursday at Belgrade Nursing Home.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato (507-387-5504).
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was born Sept. 27, 1911, in Falkton County, S.D., to Henry and Ada (Wagner) Belling. He attended school in Chandler.
On Aug. 9, 1933, he married Jeanette Wynia in Minneapolis, where they lived. They moved to Chandler where he was employed as a depot agent and telegrapher by the railroad. They also lived in Wirock and Alden, and Bryant, S.D. In 1953, they settled in Minnesota Lake where he continued working for the railroad. He was a justice of the peace 27 years. The lived in Waukee, Iowa, five years, moving to Belgrade Nursing Home in 1995.
He is survived by his wife; sons Thomas (and JoAnn) Belling of Des Moines, Iowa, Lyle (and Jan) Belling of Belgrade; daughter Donna (and Ralph) Kolbeck of Augusta, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Barbara Jean.
Sharon Uttermark

MONTEVIDEO - Sharon Uttermark, 36, of rural Montevideo died Thursday at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls as the result of injuries from an automobile accident.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the church and one hour prior to services. Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Montevideo is in charge of arrangements.
She was born May 31, 1963, at Granite Falls to Milton and Janice (Heimann) Suter. She graduated from Maynard High School in 1981 and attended the University of Minnesota at Morris.
On Dec. 11, 1982, she married Michael Uttermark in Clara City. They lived in Granite Falls where she worked for the Red Owl Grocery Store. Since 1985, she had been employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Granite Falls. They moved to their farm in rural Montevideo in 1992.
She was a member of the 4-H Horse Club, National Guard Support Group and St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she taught religion classes.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Andrea, at home; sons Matthew and Thomas, at home; parents of Clara City; brothers Patrick (and Kimberly) Suter of Monticello and Ronald (and Patty) Suter of Clara City; grandmother Gertrude Heimann of Fremont, Neb.; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Albert and Margaret Suter and grandfather Raymond Heimann.
Rose Heil

HECTOR - Rose Heil, 91, of Hector died Thursday at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church in Hector. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Hughes Funeral Home in Hector with parish prayers at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
She was born June 15, 1908, in Mankato to Joseph and Flora Heil. She grew up in Mankato until the family moved to Hector. She attended Bird Island Parochial School. She worked at Ginsburg's Grocery Store.
Survivors include sisters Florence Heil of Hutchinson, Leona Laffen of Underwood and Marie McCarthy of Riverside, Calif.; a brother, Philip (and Dorothy) Heil of Alexandria; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
Sara S. Lindeman

REDWOOD FALLS - Sara S. Lindeman, 92, of Redwood Falls died Thursday at Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls. Burial will be in Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born Jan. 3, 1908, in Cairo Township, Renville County, to Herman H. and Annie (Gluth) Rieke. She graduated from Fairfax High School in 1926.
On Feb. 29, 1940, she married Bonnie L. Lindeman in Fairfax. They farmed in Beaver Falls Township until 1978, when they moved to Redwood Falls. She had been a resident at Wood Dale Nursing Home since 1996.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls, and United Methodist Women, church circle and Harmony Class. She also had been a member of the Union Home Mission and the Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include sons Myron (and Marilyn) Lindeman of Redwood Falls, Gary (and Cheryl) Lindeman of Milbank, S.D.; daughter Carla (and Robert) Tiling of Manila, Philippines; eight grandchildren; a brother, Reuben (and Caroline) Rieke of Fairfax.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Noel; two brothers; and a sister.
Loyal Tallakson

WILLMAR - The Rev. Loyal Tallakson, 94, of Northfield, formerly of Willmar, died Friday at the Northfield Care Center.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church Thursday.
A memorial service also is planned in Northfield. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Benson Funeral Home in Northfield. His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Northfield Retirement Center.
Harvey Anderson Funeral Home of Willmar is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Aug. 20, 1905, in Willmar. He graduated from Willmar High School in 1921 and from St. Olaf College in 1927. He taught school in Colton, S.D., for two years. He attended Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul and graduated in 1932.
In 1934, he married Hazel Stalheim. She preceded him in death in 1991. He served churches in St. Cloud, Sioux City, Iowa, and Grand Forks, N.D. In 1951, he was elected district president of the North Dakota District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. After the church merger, he continued as district president, later called bishop, of the Eastern North Dakota District of the American Lutheran Church.
He retired in 1972 and returned to Willmar. He married Marcella Thorson in 1993. He had lived at the Northfield Care Center since 1994.
During his years as a minister, he served as vice president of the International Luther League and was on the boards of Augustana and Concordia colleges.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella; children Sonya (and Robert) Murphy of Laporte, Daniel (and Wanda) of Severn, Md., and Ruth of St. Paul; stepchildren John Thorson and Elizabeth (and Dean) Hanson; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and a son, Joseph.
Betty J. Carter

LITCHFIELD - Betty Jane Carter, 72, of Litchfield died Saturday at her home.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield with the Rev. Peter Nosbush officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Litchfield.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, with a Daughters of Isabella rosary at 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m.
She was born Oct. 17, 1927, in Watertown to Thomas and Walborga (Schmidt) Goetz. She graduated from Stewart High School in 1944.
On June 26, 1948, she married Gerald Carter in Hutchinson. She did clerical work for 3M and Citizens Bank, both in Hutchinson. She later worked as a secretary for St. Anastasia Catholic School in Hutchinson.
She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and other women's church organizations.
Survivors include her husband; sons Robert (and Debbie) Carter of Sauk Rapids and Ronald (and Sue) Carter of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters Beverly Ring of Oak Lawn, Ill., and Joyce (and John) Schmidt of Glencoe.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Richard J. Chan

GLENWOOD - Richard J. Chang, 76, formerly of Lowry and Baudette, died Saturday at Glenwood Retirement Village.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Chapel, Glenwood Retirement Village, with the Rev. James Gronewold officiating. Burial will be in St. John Nepomuk Cemetery in Lowry.
Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hoplin Funeral Chapel in Glenwood.
He was born May 17, 1923, in Reno Township, Pope County, to Joseph and Anna (Pavek) Chan. He served in the U.S. Army with Battery D of the 63rd Antiaircraft as an artillery gunner. He worked with his brother at the home place, moving to the Baudette area where he lived 23 years. He has lived at Glenwood Retirement Home the past years.
He is survived by his brother Maynard (and Rose) Chan of Glenwood; sister Genevieve Jobe of Glenwood and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Albert K. TeVelde

MAURICE, Iowa - Albert Kornelius TeVelde, 56, of Maurice, Iowa, died Friday at Orange City Municipal Hospital in Orange City, Iowa.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at First Reformed Church in Maurice with the Rev. Mark Haverdink officiating. Burial will be in Sherman Township Cemetery near Maurice.
Arrangements are with Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City (712-737-2213).
He was born Oct. 21, 1943, in Brooten to Lubbertus and Gertrude (Vos) TeVelde. He was a graduate of Brooten High School.
On July 26, 1963, he married VaLinda Jean Olson in Brooten. They lived in Orange City where he was employed as a printer. They lived in Minnesota 1976 to 1984 during which time he operated Brooten Service Station, and was employed by Maracom Printing of Willmar and J&K Meats of Brooten. He returned to Orange City and was employed by Hope Haven.
On Nov. 30, 1985, he married Lynne Rae Krommendyk in Orange City. They moved to Maurice in 1987.
He was a member of First Reformed Church in Maurice, active in couple's Bible study, and First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City, active as a cadet counselor.
He is survived by his wife; children Marcia TeVelde (and Marc Olson) of Terrace, Michael (and Lisa) TeVelde of Hull, Iowa, Rebecca (and Scott) Arvilla of New London, Tara (and Douglas) Hulstein of Hull, Iowa, Abigail TeVelde at home, Emily TeVelde at home; eight grandchildren; sisters Berendina Ras of Muskegon, Mich., Johanna Hoogeterp of Sheldon, Iowa, Bertha Smit of Ferndale, Wash., Gertrude Bothof of Brookfield, Wis., Elaine Grumbles of Tynes, Ky.; and brothers Gerrit "John" TeVelde of Lynden, Wash., and Conrad TeVelde of Everson, Wash.

Mabel M. Perne

She was born Dec. 17, 1908, in Melville Township, Renville County, to John H. and Emma (Neubauer) Rice. She attended Melville Township rural schools.
On Oct. 5, 1944, she married Joseph Frank Perne in Hector. They lived in California a short time, returning to Hector. She was employed as a house cleaner and by Green Giant. She moved to Glencoe Area Health Center Long Term Care in February 1999.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hector.
She is survived by her daughters Joanne Perne of Hopkins, Barbara (and Andy) Smith of Chaska; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother John (and Mary Jane) Rice of Willmar; sisters Orma Pederson of Hector, Bertha Pederson of Hector, Cora Woll of Cokato and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Delores Johnson, son-in-law Kermit Johnson, two grandchildren, two sisters and three brothers.
