Lucille A. Braaten
Aug. 18, 1917 - April 8, 2000
KENSINGTON - Lucille A. Braaten, 82, of Kensington died Saturday at Hoffman Care Center.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Nora Lutheran Church in Kensington with the Rev. James Radatz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. today, with an 8 p.m. prayer service, at the church. There will be no visitation at Hoplin Funeral Home of Glenwood who is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Aug. 18, 1917, in Nelson to Albert and Bessie (Larson) Englund. She attended country school.
On Sept. 30, 1939, she married Delmore Braaten in Alexandria. They farmed in Villard two years, moved to Nora Township to farm with Delmore's parents, and in 1943 purchased their own farm in Nora Township. Delmore died in 1986. She moved to Kensington, and in 1996 to Hoffman Good Samaritan Care Center.
She was a member of Nora Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her son Marlin (and Liz); brother Emil; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother.

Henry C. Roisum
Oct. 30, 1911 - April 10, 2000
KERKHOVEN - Henry C. Roisum, 88, of Kerkhoven died Monday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kerkhoven Lutheran Church in Kerkhoven with the Rev. Donald Block officiating. Burial will be in West Lake Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Harvey Anderson Kerkhoven Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born Oct. 30, 1911, in Arctander Township, Kandiyohi County, to John and Gemine (Nygaard) Roisum. He attended District #54 Arctander Township school.
On Nov. 15, 1941, he married May Foshager. They farmed his parents' farm, retiring into Kerkhoven in 1993.
He was a member of West Lake Lutheran Church 85 years serving as treasurer, usher and caring for the cemetery. He was a member of Kerkhoven Lutheran Church while they lived in Kerkhoven. He played on the Norway Lake town baseball team.
He is survived by his wife; sons Lowell (and Kathryn) Roisum of Wadena, Dennis Henry (and Linda) Roisum of Glencoe; daughter Phyllis (and Wally) Loven of Kerkhoven; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and seven sisters.

Emma A. Anderson
Nov. 11, 1899 - April 9, 2000
BELVIEW - Emma Adella Anderson, 100, of Belview died Sunday at Parkview Home in Belview.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church in Belview with the Rev. Martha Halls officiating. Burial will be in Belview Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a 5:30 p.m. prayer service, at Sunset Funeral Home in Echo, and one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born Nov. 11, 1899, in Kintire Township, Redwood County, to Andrew M. and Eline Rake (Rachie) Monson. She was a 1917 graduate of Belview High School, and taught rural schools in North Dakota.
On Nov. 12, 1921, she married Edward O. Anderson in Belview. They farmed in Vesta Township. Edward died June 11, 1984. She moved into Belview in 1986.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church until it merged with Grace Lutheran Church. She was active in Ladies Aid, taught Sunday School, was superintendent, and a member of circles. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary in Vesta and in Belview, receiving a 75-year membership plaque Feb. 12, 1997. She was a 4-H leader, Extension Club member and Vesta Museum member.
She is survived by her son Alton (and Lois) Anderson of Inver Grove Heights and Tyrone of New Mexico; daughters Lorraine (and Vernon) Pederson of Hastings, Doris (and Eldred) Rockman of Luverne; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister Bertha Hanks of Belview and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant grandson, two brothers and five sisters.

Harold T. Curtis
June 21, 1902 - March 31, 2000
CAMARILLO, Calif. - Harold Thomas Curtis, 97, of Camarillo, Calif., formerly of Litchfield, died March 31 at Camarillo Convalescent Center in Camarillo.
His memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Litchfield with the Rev. Connie Claxton officiating. Burial will be in Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield.
Arrangements are with Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home of Litchfield.
He was born June 21, 1902, in Greenleaf Township, Meeker County, to Edgar and Amelia (Hunter) Curtis. He attended rural school through the seventh grade and was employed by Horseshoe Café, his family's restaurant, in downtown Litchfield. He also was employed by Kopplin Oil Company of Litchfield many years.
In 1922, he married Laura Christenson in Litchfield, where they lived. He served as Meeker County treasurer from 1939 until retirement in 1970. Laura died in 1992 and he moved to Camarillo.
He is survived by his son Robert (and Doris) Curtis of Litchfield; daughter Nancy (and Pat) McCandles of Camarillo; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and son Richard.

Palmer R. Sundahl
May 28, 1916 - April 9, 2000
GROVE CITY - Palmer Richard Sundahl, 83, of Grove City died Sunday at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City with the Rev. Gary Cumings officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born May 28, 1916, in Appleton Township, Swift County, to Mathias and Bertha (Olson) Sundahl. He was a 1934 graduate of Appleton High School.
On Dec. 2, 1939, he married Lucille Benham in Appleton, where they lived. They moved in 1949 to Fairfax where he was manager of Fairfax Grain and Supply Co-op. They moved in 1966 to Grove City where he owned and operated Grove City Market, retiring in 1981.
He was a member of Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Fairfax, and Immanuel and Trinity Lutheran churches in Grove City.
He is survived by his wife; daughters Diane (and Marty) Malmin of Watertown, Joan (and Gene) Steinley of Rapid City, S.D.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister Cora Jane (and Earl) Benham of Phoenix, Ariz., and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and five sisters.

Charlotte J. Weckwerth
March 30, 1919 - April 10, 2000
MONTEVIDEO - Charlotte Jenette Weckwerth, 81, of Montevideo died Monday at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sparta Township with the Rev. Richard Hamlow officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening, with family present 7 to 8 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
She was born March 30, 1919, in Grace Township, Chippewa County, to James and Jennie (Rekstad) Jones. She was a 1936 graduate of Montevideo High School.
On Sept. 15, 1940, she married Lawrence Weckwerth. They lived in rural Chippewa County, moving into Montevideo in 1946. Lawrence died in 1987. She moved to Burnsdale Apartments and this past December to Luther Haven Nursing Home.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, active in circle and Ladies Aid.
She is survived by her children JoAnn (and Marlin) Schoep of Maple Grove, Barbara Kvaal of Montevideo, Roger Weckwerth of Montevideo; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister Arlene (and Arnold) Thompson of Litchfield and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Richard, one granddaughter, son-in-law Arne Kvaal and one brother.

Esther Stokke
Oct. 23, 1904 - April 11, 2000
WATSON - Esther Stokke, 95, formerly of Watson, died Tuesday at the Madison Lutheran Home.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Watson Lutheran Church in Watson with the Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be prior to services Thursday. Anderson Funeral Home of Montevideo is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Oct. 23, 1904, near Watson to Andrew and Selma (Pehrson) Stokke. She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1922. She attended Mankato Business College and worked in insurance offices in Fargo, N.D., and Seattle, Wash. She also worked at the public library in Denver before retiring in 1969 and moving to Ortonville. She lived in Ortonville until entering the Madison Lutheran Home about four years ago.
She was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and six sisters.

Adam L. Schoettler
Oct. 28, 1978 - March 28, 2000
NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. - Adam Linn Schoettler, 21, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., died March 28 in an accident in Orlando, Fla.
His funeral was April 1 at St. Peter the Fisherman Episcopal Church in New Smyrna Beach with the Rev. John Liebler officiating. Burial will be later this spring.
He was born Oct. 28, 1978, in Minneapolis to Tom and Gwen Schoettler. He lived in Willmar with his family, moving to New Smyrna Beach in 1985. He was a 1997 cum laude graduate of New Smyrna Beach High School and a 1999 honors graduate of Daytona Beach Community College. He was an undergraduate student at University of Central Florida and member of Tau Kapa Epsilon Fraternity.
He is survived by his parents; sister Kathryn of New Smyrna Beach; maternal grandparents Glenn and Dorma Linn of Willmar; paternal grandmother Harriet Himes of New Smyrna Beach; paternal grandfather and stepgrandmother James and Ann Schoettler of North Hampton, N.H., and other relatives.

Gene A. Hoecke
July 16, 1959- April 11, 2000
HECTOR - Gene Allen Hoecke, 40, of Hector died Tuesday at the Talahi Care Center in St. Cloud.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Hector. Burial will be in the Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and for one hour prior to the services Friday at the church. Arrangements are with Hughes Funeral Home of Hector.
He was born July 16, 1959, in Moorhead to Reuben and Phyllis (Klucas) Hoecke. He graduated in 1977 from Hector High School. He attended Willmar Technical College.
He married Kelly Crooks and worked as an over-the-road truck driver in the U.S. and Canada.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Hector.
He is survived by sons Bradley Hoecke of Redwood Falls and Brandon Hoecke of Morgan; his parents of Hector; sister Paula Prill of Melrose and other relatives.

Vernon Skarhus
May 18, 1928 - April 11, 2000
GLENWOOD - Vernon Skarhus, 71, of New Hope, formerly of Glenwood, died Tuesday at his home.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hoplin Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with the Rev. Arthur Montgomery officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was born May 18, 1928, in Pope County to Gilbert and Alma (Fosse) Skarhus. He graduated from Glenwood High School. He worked on the family farm for several years and then worked for a feed mill. He worked for Freedtime's Ready Mix in Osseo for 32 years, and in the mid-1980s went to work for Apple Valley Ready Mix for seven years until retiring. He worked for an emission testing service in the metro area for six years until the program was terminated last fall. He had a cabin in the Glenwood area.
He married Charlene Fahrlander in 1960.
He was a member of the Richfield American Legion Post.
He is survived by sons Paul (and Lynn) Skarhus of Burnsville, Gary (and Kim) Skarhus of Savage; one grandson; sisters Grace Ritigers of Glenwood and Beatrice (and Bernie) Juliet of Wyoming, Minn., and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Ida Ahrenholz
March 23, 1913 - April 12, 2000
CLARA CITY - Ida Ahrenholz, 87, of Clara City died Wednesday at Granite Falls Hospital in Granite Falls.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City with the Rev. Donald Ringnalda officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, at Harvey Anderson Clara City Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born March 23, 1913, in Ericson Township, Renville County, to Boyo and Enke (Ruter) Freiborg. She attended District 116 rural school.
On Nov. 25, 1937, she married Alfred Ahrenholz in Ericson Township. They farmed, retiring in 1988. In 1996, they moved to Prairie Park Place in Clara City. Alfred died Dec. 7, 1998.
She was a member of Bethany Reformed Church and active in Ladies Aid.
She is survived by her children Ardis (and Lyle) Ahrenholz of Holland, Mich., Ervin (and Mary) Ahrenholz of Clara City, Alan (and Lois) Ahrenholz of Clara City, Merlen (and Donna) Ahrenholz of New London; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters Grace (and Heit) Santjer, Marie (and Lubbert) Ahrenholz and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one grandson, four brothers and three sisters.

Ursula W. Bliss
Feb. 3, 1930 - April 12, 2000
BELVIEW - Ursula W. Bliss, 70, of Belview died Wednesday at Redwood Falls Hospital in Redwood Falls.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Seaforth with the Rev. John Richter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Kulow Funeral Service of Echo.
She was born Feb. 3, 1930, in Sheridan Township, Redwood County, to Steve and Theresa (Trost) Shemon. She was a graduate of Wabasso High School and attended college in Minneapolis one year.
On Nov. 23, 1950, she married Donald Bliss in Seaforth. They farmed in Sheridan Township. She was employed as bookkeeper by Farm Bureau and by Control Data. She was Sheridan Township Clerk for more than 20 years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, active in CCW and Catholic Aid.
She is survived by her husband; daughters Vicki (and Mike) Johanneck of Redwood Falls, Jody (and Wayne) Steffen of Le Center; son Tom Bliss of Redwood Falls; eight grandchildren; brother Rolland Shemon of Wabasso and sister Terry Nelson of Owatonna.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Dennis H. Nelson
Oct. 24, 1922 - April 13, 2000
WILLMAR - Dennis H. Nelson, 77, of Willmar, formerly of the Svea area, died Thursday at Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home in Willmar.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Svea Lutheran Church in Svea with the Rev. William J. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born Oct. 24, 1922, in Willmar to Dora C. (Hanson) and Art Nelson. He attended Willmar schools.
On June 25, 1949, he married Marie Lechner in Raymond. They farmed near Svea. Marie died Feb. 8, 1967.
On Feb. 20, 1970, he married Helen (Larson) Schueler in Raymond. They farmed near Svea, retired, and moved to Willmar in 1986. Helen died Nov. 25, 1991. He was employed as caretaker of Fairview Cemetery. He moved to Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home in 1995.
He was a member of Svea Lutheran Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Odd Fellows.
He is survived by his sons Gary (and Natalie) Nelson of Roseland, Bruce (and Lois) Nelson of Willmar, Dennis (and Shirley) Schueler of Raymond, Duane (and Candee) Schueler of Willmar, Mark (and Denise) Schueler of Appleton; daughters Pat (and James) Handt of Willmar, Diane (and Jim) Ziehl of Sauk Rapids, Lorna (and Rob) Johnson of Clear Lake, S.D.; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister Alice Stebbins of Paynesville and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives and one sister.
