Sidney E. Sagedahl

BROOTEN - Sidney Elwood Sagedahl, 73, of Brooten died Wednesday at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at South Lake Johanna Lutheran Church in rural Brooten with the Rev. Art Wiese officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born Dec. 5, 1926, in Norway Lake Township, near Sunburg and Brooten. He was the son of Edward and Mary (Evenson) Sagedahl. He was a 1946 graduate of Brooten High School, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On Nov. 5, 1949, he married Jane Hanson in rural Brooten. They lived in Willmar where he was employed by a dry cleaning business. They moved in 1953 to Brooten where he owned and operated Brooten Cleaners from 1953 to 1962 and was employed by Brooten Lanes from 1962 to 1964. He was employed as head custodial engineer by Brooten Schools for 27 years, retiring in 1991. They were caretakers for Brooten Elderly Apartments for the past 20 years.
He was a member of South Lake Johanna Lutheran Church, serving as president 22 years, as trustee and treasurer, and currently president of South Lake Johanna Cemetery Association. He was a member of Brooten Fire Department 22 years, serving as fire chief nine years, of Brooten American Legion Post 288 53 years, and played baseball for Brooten Colts in the Corn Belt League.
He is survived by his wife; daughters Deborah (and Tom) Grundseth of Brooten, Denise Koob of Cyrus; son Daniel (and Sue) of Brooten; seven grandchildren; sisters Della Ellingson of St. Paul, Marion DeKay of Brooten and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
Riley A. Anderson

BENSON - Riley Alden Anderson, 73, of Benson died Thursday at Swift County-Benson Hospital.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Benson with the Rev. Thomas Lammers officiating. Burial will be in Benson City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Jacobson-Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.
He was born Dec. 15, 1926, in Camp Lake Township, Swift County, to Edward O. and Cora Mathilda Louise (Anderson) Anderson. He attended District #13 school in Camp Lake Township. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On Oct. 22, 1955, he married Carole Mary Smith in Benson, where they lived. He was employed by Anderson Ready Mix Company of Benson for 26 years and by TCI for 22 years, retiring in 1992. He worked part-time for TCI following retirement.
He was a member of Mel Simonson VFW Post #1403 in Benson and Sons of Norway.
He is survived by his wife; daughters Rochelle (and David) Peterson of Benson, Pam (and Chuck) Fennell of Marshall; three grandchildren; brothers Arnold (and Ruth) Anderson of Benson, Leo Anderson of Benson, Ernest (and Judy) Anderson of Benson, Joe (and Dorothy) Anderson of Hamel, Corvin (and Beverly) Anderson of Plymouth; sisters Clarice Aasgaard of Sunburg, Eleanor (and Palmer) Pederson of Benson, Rosella Anderson of Minneapolis and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Florence C. Anderson

BELVIEW - Florence Christance Anderson, 94, of Belview died Thursday at Parkview Home in Belview.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Belview with the Rev. Daniel Faugstad officiating. Burial will be in Belview Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Sunset Funeral Home of Echo.
She was born July 19, 1905, in Kintire Township, Redwood County, to Wilhelm and Anna Christine (Anderson) Hagen.
On July 1, 1934, she married Clarence L. Anderson in Belview, where they lived. She cleaned and cooked at Redwood County Nursing Home in Redwood Falls from 1958 to 1966.
She was a charter member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Belview and active in Ladies Aid.
She is survived by her children Twyla (and Jim) Bavier of Houlton, Wis., William (and Kim) Anderson of Belview, Christine (and Roger) Huseby of Belview, Frances (and Glenn) Schmitz of Springfield, Carlyle "Butch" (and Janet) Anderson of Belview; 25 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and sister Ethel Gryting of Belview.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on Oct. 23, 1989, an infant daughter, one brother and two sisters.
Ronald E. Ronning
June 15, 1931 - April 12, 2000
LESTER PRAIRIE - Ronald Eugene Ronning, 68, of Lester Prairie, formerly of Appleton, died Wednesday at his home in Lester Prairie.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton with the Rev. Scott Nagel officiating. Private burial will be at a later date in Appleton City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Vaala Funeral Home in Appleton, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born June 15, 1931, in Fargo, N.D., to Stanley and Helen (Clapp) Ronning. He was a graduate of Appleton High School.
On Oct. 13, 1950, he married Betty Lou Stevens. He was employed by Stauffer Chemical Plant from 1955 to 1968, and as an evaporator operator by Big Stone Cheese Factory from 1968 to 1978. In 1978, he moved to Lester Prairie where he was employed by Poly Foam Inc., retiring in 1992.
He was a member of the police reserve at Henderson, Nev., and was a Little League coach.
He is survived by his children Ronald A. (and Marie) Ronning of Appleton, Danny (and Mary) Ronning of Alexandria, Barry (and Mary) Ronning of Alexandria, Tammy (and Ray) Cooper of Lester Prairie; 10 grandchildren; sister Jean (and Ken) Schnaser of Appleton; brothers Richard (and Peggy) Ronning of North Carolina, Robert (and Judy) Ronning of Montevideo and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife on Oct. 21, 1997.
Lillian O. Olson

APPLETON - Lillian Olivia Olson, 90, of Appleton died Thursday at Appleton Municipal Nursing Home.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton with the Rev. Scott Nagel officiating. Burial will be in Appleton City Cemetery.

She was born March 29, 1910, in Edison Township, Swift County, to Peter and Olena Olson.
On Sept. 19, 1928, she married Hjalmer T. Olson in Appleton, where they lived. She was employed as a clerk at several Appleton stores. Hjalmer died March 30, 1990. She moved to Appleton Municipal Nursing Home Aug. 9, 1990.
She is survived by her son-in-law Doug Anderson of Rapid City, S.D.; three granddaughters; three great-grandchildren and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter LaVonne "Bonnie" Anderson.
Richard Schmidt

PAYNESVILLE - Richard Schmidt, 89, of Paynesville died Thursday at Koronis Manor in Paynesville.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville with the Rev. Ric Koehn officiating. Burial will be in Paynesville Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born Aug. 16, 1910, in Graf Township, near Streeter, N.D., to Ludwig and Kathrine (Graf) Schmidt. He attended country school.
On Sept. 28, 1940, he married Ellentina "Ella" Martin in Medina, N.D. They farmed his homestead, then her homestead from 1943 to 1977. They retired and moved to Paynesville.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, singing in the church choir and men's quartet.
He is survived by his wife; daughter Berniece (and Art) Voss of Paynesville; two grandsons; brothers Art (and Marvel) of Aurora, Colo., David (and Alice) of Jamestown, N.D., Otto (and Esther) of Medina, N.D., Edmund (and Reba) of Sioux City, Iowa; and sister Cecelia Rivinius of Streeter, N.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one in infancy, and one sister.
Willard C. Bratsch

DANUBE - Willard C. Bratsch, 87, of Danube died Thursday at Olivia Healthcare Center.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Danube with the Rev. Mark Sattler officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew's South Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born Dec. 31, 1912, in Olivia to William and Lillie (Levine) Bratsch.
On Oct. 26, 1940, he married Bessie Shubert in Danube. They farmed in rural Danube, later retiring into town.
He is survived by his son Darnell (and Merlene) Bratsch of Danube; daughter Diana (and Larry) Simon of Waterloo, Iowa; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers Willis Bratsch, Dennis Bratsch, Gilbert Bratsch; sisters Savilla Shubert, Ruth Jacobson, Verona Beckler, Virginia Faiman, Gloria McGovern, Rosie Savoie, Beverly Kubesh; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 1986, two brothers and one sister.
Ronald D. Blank

MONTEVIDEO - Ronald David Blank, 59, of Montevideo died Friday at Luther Haven Nursing Home.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in East Zion Lutheran Cemetery in rural Starbuck.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the church, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are with Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Montevideo.
He was born Nov. 16, 1940, in Santa Ana, Calif., to Otto and Esther (Berge) Blank. He was a 1960 graduate of Montevideo High School. He was employed by Lieberman Enterprises of Minneapolis fro 22 years, moving to Montevideo in 1991. Due to poor health, he has resided at Luther Haven Nursing Home the past 16 months.
He was a lifelong member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo.
He is survived by his mother Esther Blank of Montevideo; brothers Dan (and Verlie) Blank of Montevideo, Jerry (and Jeanne) Blank of Mendota Heights, Robert (and Sally) Blank of Erie, Colo., and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Gazella Hallberg

KIMBALL - Gazella Hallberg, 97, of Kimball (South Kingston Township), died Thursday at her home.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church in Litchfield with the Rev. Marion Rova officiating. Burial will be in Ostmark Lutheran Cemetery in Forest City Township, Meeker County.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, and one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born Aug. 6, 1902, in Bagley to Erick and Karin (Persson) Erickson. She was a graduate of Bemidji High School and one of the first students to attend and graduate from Bemidji Teachers College. She taught in Clearwater County, Park Rapids and Montevideo.
On June 29, 1929, she married Edwin O. Hallberg. They farmed in South Kingston Township. She later taught in Meeker County rural schools.
She is survived by her daughters Gloria (and Rudy) Boline of Big Fork, Karen (and Michael) Green of Chisago City, Kristine (and Jerry) Koran of Taylors Falls; son Edwin of Kimball; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers and three sisters.
David Fransen

WILLMAR - David Fransen, 65, of Willmar, died Friday at his home after an extended illness.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Willmar with the Rev. Joe Steinbeisser officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #167.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a 7:30 p.m. parish prayer service followed by Knights of Columbus and Daughters of Isabella rosary, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born May 15, 1934, in Willmar to Ruby (Selin) and Julius Fransen. He was a 1952 graduate of Willmar High School.
On Sept. 14, 1957, he married Bette J. Leiser. He was employed in the accounting office of Burlington Northern Railroad for 35 years. He was a member of Minnesota National Guard for more than 25 years.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Willmar, active in church choir, as a cantor, former Sunday School and confirmation teacher, and Parish Society treasurer. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Kandiyohi-Lo Chorus, Willmar Planning Commission, and Rice Hospital Auxiliary treasurer.
He is survived by his wife; son Mark Fransen of Willmar; daughters Mary (and Steven) Meyer of Atwater, Joan (and James) Holper of Stillwater; four grandsons; brother Robert (and Dorothy) Fransen of Willmar; and sister Margaret Arneson of Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Eugene R. Homann
March 11, 1920 - April 13, 2000
WILLMAR - Eugene Raymond Homann, 72, of Willmar, formerly of the Litchfield area, died Thursday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar with the Rev. Al Sevig, from Calvary Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Tromso Cemetery, north of Lake Lillian.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was born March 11, 1920, in Butler. As a young boy, he was adopted by Dora and Fred Homann of Fergus Falls, where he attended school. He served in the U.S. Navy.
In 1955, he married Joann Kruger in Crookston. They lived in Montana three years, in the Twin Cities 13 years, and then moved to Litchfield in 1969. He moved to the Willmar area in 1982.
He is survived by his wife of Litchfield; son Michael Homann of Litchfield; daughters Wendy Pillatzki of Aurora, Colo., Suzan (and Dale) Anderson of Litchfield, Heidie Homann of Litchfield; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers Norman (and Angie) Goldschmitz of St. Paul, LeRoy Rach of Spokane, Wash., and sister Joann Cecil of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, one in infancy.
Oliver D. Everson

WILLMAR - Oliver Dean Everson, 70, of Willmar died Friday morning at Rice Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roger Hanson and the Rev. Sandra Hanawalt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Willmar American Legion and VFW.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born Nov. 15, 1929, near Atwater to William and Amy (Lunn) Everson. He received his education in Atwater. He served with the U.S. Army and Air Force more than 14 years. He returned to the Willmar area and was employed for many years as a truck driver for Jennie-O Foods and Nelson Trucking.
He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, American Legion and VFW.
He is survived by children Chris Everson of Hutchinson, Norman Everson of Underwood, Jennifer Everson of Willmar, and Barb (and Gordon) Holl of Kentucky; nine grandchildren, and brother James (and Dolly) Everson of Williston, N.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Jeffrey, three brothers and two sisters.
Gladys C. Andreas

MONTEVIDEO - Gladys Caroline Andreas, 88, of Montevideo died April 7 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Watson with the Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was born Jan. 29, 1912, in Big Bend Township, Chippewa County, to Ole and Laura (Laumb) Jerve. She attended rural schools in District #11 in Big Bend Township.
She married Elmo Andreas on July 30, 1939. They lived north of Watson for three years and in Swift County for three years. They moved west of Watson and then to her home farm in 1948. In 1976, they moved to Montevideo, where she had been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past five years.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and its women's groups and helped raise a number of foster children.
She is survived by her husband; daughters Judy (and Arthur) Anderson of Minneapolis, Joyce (and Silvian) Sundrum of Golden Valley, Bonalyn (and Gordon) Nebelung of Fridley; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; foster daughter Jane Campbell of Minneapolis and her three children; sister Edna Hull of Montevideo; brothers Marvin Jerve of Montevideo, Sander Jerve of Glencoe, Gordon Jerve of Battle Lake and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a great-granddaughter, three brothers and two sisters.
