Gabriel J. Peterson

BENSON - Gabriel James "Gabe" Peterson, 19, of Benson, died Friday at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
His memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, at Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Benson, and one hour prior to the services.
He was born Jan. 19, 1981, in Benson to Marianne and Peter Peterson. He graduated from Benson High School and attended Ridgewater Community College during his senior year. He was a herdsman, raising his own beef herd and working at Riverview Dairy and Gordon Farms. He battled bone cancer for 2_ years.
He was active in the FFA, Benson wrestling, and as a junior member of the Limousine Association.
He is survived by his parents Peter (and Brenda) Peterson of Benson, Marianne Peterson of Benson; sister Wanique (and Kalin) Evenson of Marshall; brother Simeon (and Jacque) Peterson of Elk River; grandparents Arnold and Ruth Anderson of Benson and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Roy and Mardell Peterson.
Janet Marie Satre
Nov. 21, 1928 - May 27, 2000
CLARKFIELD - Janet Marie Satre, 71, of Clarkfield died Saturday at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital.
Her funeral will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Montevideo with the Rev. Jerry Paulson officiating. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Clarkfield City Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Lindhorst officiating.
Arrangements are with Lynner Funeral Home.
She was born Nov. 21, 1928, at Montevideo to Chester and Mary (Feldhake) Iverson. She attended the Montevideo public schools and graduated from Montevideo's last Normal Training Class in 1948. She attended St. Cloud College and received a teaching degree in 1951.
She married Marvin H. Satre on Sept. 7, 1954. She taught school in Pine City, Brandon country school, Boyd, and in the H.A. Hagg Elementary School in Clarkfield from 1967 to 1990.
She was the Clarkfield Teacher of the Year in 1983-84 and nominated for the Minnesota Teacher of the Year in 1984. She served as president, treasurer and secretary of the Clarkfield Teachers Association. She was active in her church and served as president of the Catholic Church Society in the early 1960s.
She is survived by her husband; son Marlin (and Jeanine), and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Marie Eleanor Starr

GLENWOOD - Marie Eleanor Starr, 98, of Glenwood died Friday at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. John Nepomuk Church, rural Lowry, with the Rev. Ken Riedemann officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour preceding the service at the church. Hoplin Funeral Chapel, Glenwood, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Feb. 10, 1902, in Audubon to August and Agnette (Westberg) Danielson.
She married John J. Starr on June 15, 1925, in Glenwood. The couple lived near Lowry. She taught school before she married and continued to serve as a substitute teacher for 40 years.
She taught religion classes in her parish. She was a church organist and choir director, and served as church auxiliary officer. She was DCCW president and was active in the Mission Society. She also directed several community theater plays. She received the Bishop's medal for exemplary service to her church and was honored as Lowry's Citizen of the Year.
She is survived by her children Jone Meyer of Melrose, John of Beaver Dam, Wis., and Deanna (and Patrick) Roers of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister Evangeline Wahl of Nashville, Tenn., and brother Lester Danielson of Glenwood.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974, her parents, three sisters and six brothers.
Eleanor 'Betty' Lowther

WILLMAR - Eleanor Elizabeth "Betty" Lowther, 78, of Willmar died Saturday at her daughter's home in Inver Grove Heights.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Willmar with the Rev. Robert Bailey and the Rev. David Jamieson officiating. Burial will be at the Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home, Willmar.
She was born April 25, 1922, in Hopkinton, Iowa, to Earle and Eleanor (Aitchison) Dunlap. She was a graduate of the Hopkinton High School in 1942. She attended Lenox Junior College for two years and received her teaching degree from the Iowa State Teachers College in May 1945.
She married Birk Conley Lowther on May 31, 1947, in Hopkinton, Iowa. The couple moved in 1957 to Worthington where her husband began Azlaf Arabians. They moved to Willmar on July 21, 1969, and resided on their farm.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Willmar and served as a Presbyterian Elder. She taught Sunday School and Release Time. She was a past president and board member of Peace Pipe Girl Scouts Council, past president of the Heritage Searchers, member of the Eastern Star, Girl Scouts of America, 4-H, Red Cross Gray Lady and Elevian Club.
She is survived by her children Kay Harris of Omaha, Neb., Katherine (and Jim) Smola of Apple Valley, Rebecca (and Larry) Clark of Willmar, Steven (and Mary) Lowther of Minneapolis, Susan (and Don) Wilson of West Des Moines, Iowa, William (and Jody) Lowther of Golden, Colo., and Jeanne (and Guy) Fox of Inver Grove Heights; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers Clyde (and Marymaude) Dunlap of Hopkinton, Iowa, and Bruce Dunlap of Bettendorf, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on May 3, 1992, and three brothers.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
Ida Schlagel

MURDOCK - Ida Schlagel, 90, of Murdock died Monday at Swift County-Benson Hospital.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Murdock with the Rev. Trevor Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Arrangements are with Jacobson-Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.
She was born Oct. 2, 1909, in Sacred Heart to Thomas and Mary (Soine) Strand. She attended grade school in rural Wang Township.
On July 28, 1928, she married Sandy Jordet in Sacred Heart. Sandy died in 1943. In 1952, she married Joe Schlagel. Joe died in 1973. She lived in Minneapolis, Hopkins, Granite Falls and Murdock. She refinished furniture, wallpapered, was employed as a cashier and waitress, and did creamery work and field work.
She was a member of VFW and Ladies Aid Groups at church.
She is survived by her son Milo (and Jeanie) Jordet of Loretto; daughter Bettie (and Duane) Peterson of Hudson, Wis.; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters Selma (and Waldo) Gregerson of Granite Falls, Blenda (and Conrad) Alstad of Sacred Heart, and Marion (and Norman) Tollefson of Granite Falls and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, son Leslie Jordet, five brothers and one sister.
Gordon 'Bud' Van Den Einde

BLOMKEST - Gordon Willis "Bud" Van Den Einde, 80, of Blomkest died Monday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Roseland Reformed Church in Roseland with the Rev. Thomas Hoogendorn officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg, and one hour before the service at the church.
He was born Dec. 5, 1919, in Roseland to Carrie (Damhof) and Louis Van Den Einde. He attended Roseland District 34 School and Morris Ag School. He served in the Army Air Force from 1943-45.
On June 27, 1941, he married Gladys Brouwer. They farmed, moving in 1960 to Blomkest where they operated the post office and grocery store. When the post office moved, he continued as postmaster.
He was a member of the Reformed Church of Roseland, serving as an elder and Sunday School teacher, past member of Blomkest Volunteer Fire Department, member of Senior Saints Group of the Svea, Roseland and Blomkest churches, and board member of Tri-County Funeral Home for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife; sons Robert (and Carol) Van Den Einde of Willmar, Jerry (and Lynda) Van Den Einde of Blomkest, and Gene (and Beth) Van Den Einde of Willmar; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers Edgar (and Eleanor) Van Den Einde of Clara City, and Harold Van Den Einde of Willmar; and sister Lucy Douma of Ripon, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Evelyn Garding

WATKINS - Evelyn Garding, 81, of Watkins died Tuesday at Hilltop Good Samaritan Center in Watkins.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Forest City. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins. The rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. today followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Nov. 18, 1918, in St. Nicholas to John and Margaret (Dockendorf) Faber.
She married Hilarious "Butch'' Garding on Sept. 19, 1940. They farmed near Watkins until their retirement.
She was a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Forest City and the Watkins Senior Citizens.
She is survived by sons Donald of Kimball, Roger of Glenwood, Gerald of Litchfield, LeRoy of Watkins, Allen of Hutchinson, Hilarious Jr. of Kingston, and Edwin of Darwin; daughters Kathleen Theilen of Richmond, Karen Chaveria of Phoenix, Ariz., Joyce Wilson of Kimball, Susan Vennes of Fosston, Annette Oporto of Watkins, and Debra of Litchfield; 37 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; sister Mildred Pauly of Cold Spring; and brothers Julius and Elmer of Watkins, John of Minneapolis and Eugene of Monticello.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous brothers and sisters.
LeeAnn 'Mickey' Maher

RANDOLPH - LeeAnn "Mickey'' Maher, 46, of Randolph died Tuesday at home following a long battle with cancer.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Randolph United Methodist Church with the Rev. Phil Strom officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. at the Tromso Cemetery in Lake Lillian.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls and one hour before the service at the church.
She was born July 2, 1953, in Paso Robles, Calif., to William and Marlene (Slate) McNicholl. She graduated from Willmar Senior High School. She lived in California for many years and returned to Minnesota. She lived in Rochester and then lived in Randolph for the past 17 years. She married Daniel Maher on Aug. 1, 1988, in Yankton, S.D.
She is survived by her husband; sons Dwight McNicholl of Northfield and Joshua McNicholl of Cannon Falls; daughters Kristina Damaille of Whittier, Calif., and Michelle McNicholl of Northfield; two grandsons; her parents Marlene and Byron Nielson Sr., of Atwater and William McNicholl of Wynot, Neb.; grandmother Aletha Schnider of Yankton, S.D.; brothers Byron (and Terrie) Nielson Jr. of Elk River and Roy (and Michelle) Nielson of Willmar; and sister Tracy (and Gary) Nelson of Atwater.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
Harvey J. Kleinhuizen

DANUBE - Harvey James Kleinhuizen, 61, of Danube died Monday at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Zion United Methodist Church in Danube. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia and one hour before the service at the church.
He was born June 1, 1938, in Atwater to Harold and Irene (Poelstra) Kleinhuizen. He attended Central Minnesota Christian School.
He married Dorothy Jahnke on Feb. 24, 1961, in Danube. He worked for Duininck Brothers from 1959 to 1974 and at Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Co-op from 1975 to 1998.
He served on the Danube City Council for 14 years, was mayor for six years, was a member of the Danube Lions Club, the Danube American Legion and the Danube United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife; sons James (and Robin) of Danube and Curtis of Minneapolis; two grandchildren; his mother Irene of Renville; sisters Dorothy (and John) Blokzyl of Spicer, Loretta (and Marvin) Mulder of Renville, Martha Dunsmore of Renville, and Eileen (and Ron) Fritz of Waconia; brothers Nicholas (and Lilah) of Renville, Donald (and Wanda) of Prinsburg, Melvin (and JoAnne) of Prinsburg; Luverne (and Beatrice) of Willmar, Wayne (and Marilyn) of Blomkest, and Wallace (and Evilien) of the Netherlands, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers and infant sister.
Jim A. 'Alex' Nelson

WILLMAR - Jim Alexander "Alex" Nelson, 95, of Willmar died Thursday at Ashwood Health Care Center in Willmar.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Willmar Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Paul McCullough officiating. Burial will be later in the day at Salem Cemetery near Paynesville.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
He was born April 20, 1905, in Irving Township, Kandiyohi County, to Amanda (Kullberg) and Axel A. Nelson. He attended District 92 School near Hawick.
On Dec. 14, 1939, he married Wilma Meranda Meyer in Paynesville. They farmed near Paynesville, moving in 1943 to Litchfield, where he was employed as a truck driver and by a hatchery. In 1956 they moved to Willmar where he was employed as a carpenter with his brother Rudolph. He was employed as a foreman by Willmar Poultry Company until retirement. Wilma died in 1991. He lived at Ashwood Health Care Center the past five years.
He is survived by his daughters Vangie (and Gene) Underland of Spicer, Delores (and Linelle) Johnson of Burnsville; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, an infant son and two brothers.
Charles E. Woltjer

WILLMAR ‹ Charles E. Woltjer, 77, of Willmar died Thursday at his home.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar with the Rev. Ron Burke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born Aug. 13, 1922, in Chippewa County to Niel and Elsie (Rutchie) Woltjer. He attended country school.
On Dec. 23, 1944, he married Esther Olson in Raymond, and they lived in Willmar. He was employed as a truck driver by Perkins Lumber Company for 44 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; daughters Beverly (and Howard) Jones of Hawick, Judy (and Richard) Ornberg of St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; siblings Gertrude Eklund of Willmar, Elzo (and Arlene) Woltjer of Willmar, Fred (and Janet) Woltjer of Willmar, Melvin (and Violet) Woltjer of Willmar, Elizabeth (and Gene) Valentine of Janesville, Wis., Lorraine Pittman of Lyman, Neb., Chester (and Cindy) Woltjer of Pennock and other relatives.

Jesus 'Jesse' Garcia Guajardo

WILLMAR - Jesus "Jesse" Garcia Guajardo, 52, of Willmar, died Tuesday at his home in Willmar.
His memorial service will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Windy Hill Auto Parts in New London. All are welcome to attend.
He was born May 27, 1948, in Lavilla de Juarers Coahuila, Mexico, to Marcelino and Elena Garcia. He was raised in Sabinas Coahuila, Mexico, moving to Minnesota in 1994. He lived at Regency Estates in Willmar. He was employed as manager of the recycling department of Windy Hill Auto Parts in New London the past six years.
He is survived by his parents and siblings Armardo, Irene, Isabel, Eduardo, Eliseo, Josephina, Martha and Concepcion.
Nellie M. Mortenson
Feb. 18, 1910 - June 9, 2000
MONTEVIDEO - Nellie Marie Mortenson, 90, of Montevideo died Friday at Clara City Care Center in Clara City.
Her memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with the Rev. Paul Woolverton officiating.
She was born Feb. 18, 1910, in Lake County, near Wentworth, S.D., to Cleveland and Mary (Stanley) Fader. She was salutatorian of the Verdi High School Class of 1928 and a 1929 graduate of Lake Benton Normal Training. She taught three years in Pipestone and Lincoln counties. In 1935, she earned a bachelor's degree and graduated with honors from Mankato State.
On June 26, 1942, she married Melvin Mortenson in rural Chippewa County. They lived on a farm north of Montevideo. Melvin died Oct. 17, 1983. She moved to Clara City Care Center in March 1999.
She is survived by her children Pat (and John) Norgren of Marshall, Mary Mortenson of Minneapolis, Melvin Jr. of Montevideo, Roma (and Scot) Kindschi of Marshall; two grandchildren; sister Marjorie Fader of Montevideo; brother Roger Fader of Willmar and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.
