WILLMAR -- Blanche Anderson, 88, of Willmar died Thursday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar with the Rev. Fred Jensen and the Rev. Sandra Hanawalt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born April 30, 1912, in Goodhue, to Caleb and Hannah Erickson. She was educated in Red Wing and attended St. Cloud Teachers College.
On Aug. 22, 1936, she married A. Harvey Anderson of Willmar in Red Wing. She became licensed and worked with her husband in the Harvey Anderson Funeral Homes until their retirement. She was an organist at Bethel Lutheran Church for some years. She was a fellow of the American Guild of Organists and a member of the Willmar Musicale, serving as its president for two terms. She was a board member of the State Federation of Music Clubs for two terms. She also worked with scouting programs in Willmar and was a member of the Rice Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children, Mary Jo (and Roger) Kuhn of Sun Lakes, Ariz., Mark (and Lynn) Anderson of Bellevue, Wash., and Challis (and Richard) Ronning of Willmar; seven grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey, in 1995; three sisters, including a twin sister; a brother; and two half sisters.

CLARA CITY -- Lloyd Popma, 83, of Clara City died Saturday afternoon at his home.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bethany Reformed Church of Clara City. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Clara City and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
He was born May 17, 1917, in Sioux County, Iowa, to Abel and Effie (Swarts) Popma.
On Aug. 7, 1939, he married Esther Vermeer. They farmed in Iowa until 1960, when they moved to Clara City. They farmed until retiring in 1980. He was a member of Bethany Reformed Church, where he was an elder.
Survivors include his wife; children, Linda (and Cornie) Vonk of Battle Creek, Mich., Lyle (and Dorinda) Popma of Benson, Paulene (and Chuck) Ammermann of Clara City and Kristin Gail (and Wally) Ammermann of Clara City; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Delbert Popma of Orange City, Iowa; sisters, Sadie Ver Steeg of Orange City, Madge DeBoer of Sioux Center, Iowa, and Muriel Palsrock of Rock Rapids, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and one great-granddaughter.
Karla G. Johnson

LAKE LILLIAN -- Karla Gladys Johnson, 75, of rural Lake Lillian died Saturday evening at her home.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian with the Rev. Mark Jamison officiating. Burial will be in Lake Lillian Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the K-M Funeral Home in Lake Lillian and one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born Jan. 26, 1925, in rural Ellendale to Joseph and Myrtle (Moen) Anderson. She grew up in rural Ellendale and attended Ellendale schools.
On March 22, 1947, she married Eldon C. Johnson at Lake Lillian. They farmed near Lake Lillian. In addition to farming with her husband, she worked at Erickson's Store in Lake Lillian and at Harry's Corner. She was a librarian assistant at the Lake Lillian Library. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and its Peru Mission Circle. She chaired the Mission Action Committee and was a WELCA Mission delegate. She was superintendent of needle work with the Kandiyohi County Fair.
Survivors include a daughter, Linnet E. Johnson of Hutchinson; three grandchildren; sisters, Adeline (and Donald) Reese and Myrna Anderson, both of New Richland; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon, in 1997, and a son, Donald, in 1963.
Jasper Schoep

MONTEVIDEO -- Jasper Schoep, 69, of Montevideo died Friday at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with the Rev. Paul Woolverton officiating. Burial will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
He was born Dec. 9, 1930, in Sioux Center, Iowa, to John and Marian (Feekes) Schoep. He grew up in Iowa and attended school in Rock Valley, Iowa. He moved to Montevideo with his family in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.
On March 10, 1956, he married Darleen Redepenning in Montevideo. They moved to Arizona in 1959. He worked at a dairy and in diesel manufacturing in Phoenix and as a citrus foreman in Yuma. In 1966, they returned to Minnesota to work in the family gravel business, Schoep and Sons. He worked as a bulk truck driver for Cenex in Montevideo for 24 years before retiring in 1995. After retirement, he worked part-time at Schoep and Sons. He was a member and trustee of American Legion Post 59.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kimberli (and Tim) Heller of Mound; two grandsons; brothers, Donald (and Delores) of Artesia, Calif., Earle (and Kathy) of Montevideo, Marlin (and JoAnn) of Maple Grove, Berdette (and Linda) of Clarkfield, Eugene (and Sheryl) of Montevideo, Arvin (and Nancy) of Hudson, N.Y., Verlyn (and Cindy) of Cannon Falls, Jay (and Sue) of Montevideo and Phillip (and Robin) of Montevideo; sisters, Harriet (and LeRoy) Nordby of Nisswa, Judy (and Milt) Pennings of Orange City, Violet (and Bert) Poppen of Long Prairie and Faith (and Paul) Jara of Apple Valley; and other relatives.

Cora Lesteberg

BENSON -- Cora Alida Lesteberg, 89, of Benson died Saturday morning at the Meadow Lane Healthcare Center in Benson, after a lengthy struggle with cancer.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Monson Lake Lutheran church in rural Sunburg with the Rev. Carlton Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Jacobson-Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson and for one hour at the church prior to the service.
She was born May 31, 1911, in Rolling Forks Township, Pope County, to Sigwart and Genette (Olson) Simonson. She graduated from Glenwood High School and went on to teachers training at St. Cloud College.
On Sept. 1, 1944, she married Oral Edman Lesteberg. They worked together on their dairy farm. She taught school in Swift and Pope counties for 14 years. She was a member of the Monson Lake Lutheran Church and was involved in the ladies group and was a Bible study leader for more than 13 years.
Survivors include sisters, Gladys Rois of Benson and Florance (and Wilton) Christenson of Murdock; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oral, in 1988; one brother; and four sisters.
Freddie W. Nybakke

SUNBURG -- Freddie William Nybakke, 86, of the Kerkhoven and Murdock area died Saturday morning at the Infinia Health Care Center in Willmar.
His funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Monson Lake Lutheran church with the Rev. Carlton Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the Sunburg Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born Sept. 8, 1914, on the family farm in Hayes Township, Swift County, to Oluf and Anna Sophia (Evenson) Nybakke. He grew up in Kerkhoven Township and attended school in District 19.
He farmed his entire adult life until retiring in the early 1990s. He moved to the Lindberg Rest Home in Kerkhoven in 1996 and to the Ashwood Health Care Center in Willmar in 1999. He served on the telephone board for more than 25 years and was an active member of his church, where he served as a trustee and on various church committees and was a past director of the church cemetery.
Survivors include several cousins and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Judith A. Haavig

STARBUCK -- Judith A. Haavig, 57, of Starbuck died Saturday at Minnewaska District Hospital in Starbuck.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Glenwood. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hoplin Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood and one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born Oct. 9, 1942, in Minneapolis to John Walker and Marcella (Larson) Walker. She was a 1960 graduate of Edison High School in Minneapolis.
On July 8, 1961, she married Thomas Haavig in Minneapolis. She received her registered nursing degree from Anoka-Ramsey Community College and was employed by Unity Hospital, Ramsey County Hospital and Mercy Hospital, all located in the Minneapolis area. She retired from nursing due to health reasons in 1979. She was vice president of sales/human resource director at DyCast Specialties Corporation of Starbuck, the family business.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Glenwood, Christian Women's Ministry and board member of Starbuck Chamber of Commerce and DyCast Specialties.
She is survived by her husband; sons Jon of Starbuck, Kris of Starbuck; daughters Sue (and Randy) Flaherty of Starbuck, Heidi (and Kory) Strickler of Starbuck, Janina of Starbuck; five grandchildren; father; sister Debbie (and Warren) Robertson of Cedar; brother Gary (and Jan) Walker of Minneapolis and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her mother.

COPPERAS COVE, Texas -- Elizabeth A. "Betty" Hanson, 81, of Copperas Cove, Texas, formerly of Willmar, died Friday at Metroplex Hospital in Killeen, Texas.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar with the Rev. Gary Mikkelson and the Rev. Alfred Sevig officiating. Burial will be in Cloverleaf Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
She was born Aug. 23, 1919, in Story City, Iowa, to Lars and Cora (Benton) Risvold. She was a graduate of Willmar High School.
On June 14, 1935, she married Elmer Hanson, and they lived in Willmar. She was employed by Rice Memorial Hospital. She then lived in Tucson, Ariz., Del Rio, Texas, and Copperas Cove, Texas.
She is survived by her sons Larry (and Lee) Hanson of Round Rock, Texas, Thomas Hanson of Copperas Cove, Texas; two grandchildren; brother Harold (and Audrey) Risvold of Minneapolis; and sisters Marjorie Muller of Burnsville and Barbara (and Eilert) Wall of Apple Valley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1971 and one brother.

Chester P. Hansen

CLARKFIELD - Chester Palmer Hansen, 82, of Clarkfield died Sunday at Granite Falls Municipal Hospital.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Clarkfield Lutheran Church in Clarkfield with the Rev. Terry Brandt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Arrangements are with Lynner Funeral home of Clarkfield.
He was born Dec. 6, 1917, in Clarkfield to Martin and Amanda (Larson) Hansen. He was employed at a CC Camp near Duluth and during World War II spent time at a boatworks in Seattle, Wash. He returned to Clarkfield to farm, and then moved to Minneapolis where he worked in a box factory. When his health failed in 1976, he lived with his mother at Valhalla Apartments.
He was a lifelong member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his sister Mrs. Lawrence (Harriet) Orres of Clarkfield and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
James D. Gale

WILLMAR - James Darby Gale, 82, of Willmar died Monday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Paynesville with the Rev. Sandy Holmberg officiating. Burial will be in Paynesville Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born April 8, 1918, in Paynesville to Edward and Ida (Langrud) Gale. He was a 1934 graduate of Paynesville High School.
In 1939 he married Mathilda "Tillie" Albrecht in Paynesville. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Since 1935 he has owned and operated Gale Signs. He has lived in the Willmar area the past 30 years.
He was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church and Minnesota Trappers Association.
He is survived by his sons Bill of Paynesville, Stan (and Karlene) of Grand Rapids, Randy (and Roxanne) of Hawick; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters Laura (and Jack) Frost of San Antonio, Texas, Dorothy Tinglov of Puyallup, Wash., and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother and one grandson.

KENT, Wash. - Curtis Lee Sorenson, 50, of Kent, Wash., formerly of Louisburg, died Sunday in Kent.

NAPLES, Fla. - Keith Layne Buboltz, 47, of Naples, Fla., formerly of Bird Island, died July 15 at his home.
His memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bird Island with the Rev. T. Lance Holthusen officiating. Burial will be in Bird Island Village Cemetery.

He was born May 8, 1953, in Olivia to Charles and Lori Buboltz. He was a graduate of Bird Island High School and Southwest State University in Marshall. He moved to Naples, Fla., in 1979. He was owner of The Thirsty Mouse in Tin City and maintenance supervisor of Harmony Shores Mobile Home Park, both in Naples.
He was a member of Shepherd of the Glades Church, serving as past president of the congregation and as chairman of Sunday School Education Committee.

WADENA - Elvera A. Grandberg, 80, of Wadena, formerly of Willmar, died Sunday at Shady Lane Nursing Home in Wadena.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born April 6, 1920, near Pipestone to T.J. and Bernice (Stringer) Fransen. Her mother died when she was 5 years old, and she moved to South Dakota, Wisconsin, and then returned to Minnesota.
On Sept. 27, 1946, she married Clayton Grandberg. She was employed as a domestic worker. In April 1997 she moved to Wadena.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her son LeRoy (and Janet) Grandberg of Santa Rosa, Calif., and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1988 and two brothers.
