WILLMAR -- Myrtle Binnebose, 78, of Willmar died Thursday at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar with the Rev. Linda Lagergren officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and one hour prior to services at Bethesda Heritage Center.
She was born Feb. 26, 1922, near Solomon Lake, Dovre Township, Kandiyohi County, to Martin and Julia (Syverson) Anderson. She attended school in Willmar.
In October 1955, she married Armin Binnebose in Willmar. They farmed near Willmar.
She was active in 4-H and the Kandiyohi County NFO serving committee. She was a member of Zion Irving Lutheran Church in rural Paynesville.
She is survived by her daughters June (and Raleigh) Liedman of Paynesville, Ruth (and friend Wesley Norby) Binnebose of Brooten; son James Binnebose of Spicer; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters Olive Vikse of Willmar, Ione (and Harley) Swenson of Svea and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son Dennis.

John T. Knapper
March 14, 1921 - Jan. 11, 2001
RENVILLE -- John T. Knapper, 79, of Renville, formerly of Roseland, died Thursday at his home.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Roseland Reformed Church with the Rev. Jerry Knapper officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials are preferred.
He was born March 14, 1921, near Renville to Tom and Jennie (Negan) Knapper. He attended country school in the Renville area. He worked on several farms.
On Feb. 12, 1943, he married Sadie Marcus. They lived in the Prinsburg, Blomkest and Roseland areas before moving to Renville in September 1998. They farmed before he became a blacksmith in Roseland. He was retired from Duininck Brothers Construction where he had been employed as a mechanic for more than 30 years.
He was a member of Roseland Reformed Church.
He is survived by his son Jerry (and Carol) Knapper of Park Hill, Okla.; daughters Myra (and Skeet) Guenther of Portland, Ore., Sandy (and Arvin) DeGroot of Sacred Heart; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother Hank (and Jessie) Knapper of Clara City; sisters Hilda Gort of Willmar, Rose Baker of Willmar, Alice (and Harley) Gort of Roseland; twin sister Minnie (and Bill) Seehuisen of Lake Lillian and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1998, infant son Darrel, his parents, one brother and one sister.

Walter 'Hank' Burk
Sept. 23, 1954 - Jan. 12, 2001
BELGRADE -- Walter Henry "Hank" Burk Jr., 46, of Belgrade died Friday at Belgrade Nursing Home after a battle with brain cancer.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Crow River Lutheran Church in Belgrade with the Rev. Michael DeKraai officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born Sept. 23, 1954, in Long Branch, N.J., to Walter Sr. and Eleanor Lee (Venslow) Burk. He graduated in 1971 from Howell High School in Freehold, N.J. He worked at the Macaroon Shop in Bradley Beach, N.J., for 10 years and also at the Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company as a baker.
On Nov. 30, 1985, he married Cynthia Jordon. They lived in Bradley Beach. In 1993, he moved to Belgrade to be closer to his sister Colleen and worked in the area as a baker at various food chains.
He is survived by his daughter Amanda Lee Burk and her mother Cynthia Burk of Wilbraham, Mass.; son Joseph Cameron; sisters Colleen Lee (and Mike Johnson), Sharol Lee Theodor (and Albert Tilton), Laura Lee Bennett, Tammi Lee (and Todd) Orsino, Hope Lee Burk; stepfather Anthony Oliviera and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Donald M. Weedall
Nov. 1, 1928 - Jan. 11, 2001
LITCHFIELD -- Donald Morland Weedall, 72, of Litchfield died Thursday at Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
His funeral will be at 7 p.m. today at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home with military rites provided by the Admiral Benson Post 2818 VFW.
He was born Nov. 1, 1928, in New Bedford, Mass., to William and Doris (Jaques) Weedall. He entered the U.S. Army and served in World War II from 1946-47. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal.
On Dec. 16, 1972, he married Ruth Taylor in South Dakota. He worked as a chemical dependency/family counselor. In 1977, he received his associate's degree from the Minneapolis Community College system. He worked in Wisconsin Rapids from 1983-89 and in the Litchfield area from 1989 to the present.
He was a member of the Masons, Golden Fleece Lodge No. 89, A.F. and A.M., and was a volunteer counselor at the Meeker County Jail.
He is survived by his wife; sons David (and Debra) Weedall of Boise, Idaho, Bruce (and Carolyn) Shoemaker of Minnetonka, Craig (and Patricia) Shoemaker of Shorewood, Mark (and Lynn) Shoemaker of Anoka, William (and Cindee) Walden of Carthage, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; his sister, Sister Doris Taylor of St. Paul, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Christy Weedall, two granddaughters and one brother.

Ernest A. Moen
Feb. 14, 1918 - Jan. 12, 2001
GLENWOOD -- Ernest A. "Ernie" Moen, 82, of Glenwood died Friday at Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Scandia Lutheran Church in Glenwood with the Rev. Ron Knutson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are by Hoplin Funeral Home in Glenwood.
He was born Feb. 14, 1918, in Gilchrist Township, Pope County, to Albert and Josephine (Christianson) Moen. His mother died shortly after his birth, and he was raised by his father and his aunt Ella Bengston. He attended Glenwood High School.
On Sept. 16, 1951, he married Evelyn Giese in Appleton. They farmed in Gilchrist Township until 1978. They moved to Glenwood Retirement Plaza in October 1985. They moved to Parkview Court in Glenwood in January 1999.
He is survived by his wife; daughters Mavis (and Gary) TeBrake of Glenwood, Rita (and Larry) Atkinson of Waite Park; sons Larry Moen (and friend Karen) of Glenwood, Kurt (and Mary) Moen of Rogers; seven grandchildren; brother Earl Moen of Glenwood and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, one in infancy.

Floyd O. Johnston
Jan. 2, 1908 - Jan. 12, 2001
JAMESTOWN, N.D. -- Floyd O. Johnston, 93, of Jamestown, N.D., died Friday at Jamestown Hospital.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Jamestown with the Rev. Doug Opp officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Jamestown.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
He was born Jan. 2, 1908, in Derby, Iowa, to Joseph and Elsie (Boylan) Johnston. He attended rural schools and helped on the family farm.
On Oct. 17, 1929, he married Ada Fode in Fredonia, N.D. They farmed. In 1957, they moved to Montevideo and lived there forr 30 years. He worked for Lutheran Haven Nursing Home and MTI Technologies in Montevideo. In 1987, they moved to Jamestown.
He is survived by his daughters June (and Henry) Fietzek of Montpelier, N.D., Janice Fietzek of Jamestown, Joyce Ditto of Pensacola, Fla., Jeanne (and Jack) Eckert of Maple Grove; son Jerald Johnston of Houma, La.; 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife March 13, 1990, sons Jerome and James, one grandson, son-in-law Dan Ditto, three sisters and three brothers.

James H. Olson
Aug. 25, 1932 - Jan. 13, 2001
FOREST CITY TOWNSHIP -- James H. Olson, 68, of Forest City Township, Meeker County, died Saturday at the St. Cloud Hospital.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at First Lutheran Church in Litchfield with the Rev. Richard Ricker officiating. Burial will be in Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield. Military rites will be provided by Admiral Benson Post VFW 2818 of Litchfield.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are by Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield.
He was born Aug. 25, 1932, in Collinwood Township, Meeker County, to Arthur and Marie (Beckman) Olson. He attended country school through the eighth grade and began helping on the family farm. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict from 1953-55. He continued to serve in the Army Reserves for an additional eight years. He worked at the Litchfield Elevator and later began farming with his family in Forest City Township.
He is survived by his brother Robert of Sioux Falls and other relatives.
He is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Vernon Burgraff
MADISON, S.D. -- Vernon Burgraff, 92, of Madison, S.D., died Friday at Lake Norden, S.D.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar with the Rev. Teresa Chamberlain officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Raymond.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife Jean Burgraff of Madison, S.D., and sister Muriel Carlson of Willmar.

Mary G. Johnson
Dec. 29, 1942 - Jan. 14, 2001
LITCHFIELD -- Mary Gwen Johnson, 58, of Litchfield died Sunday at Lutheran Social Services Group Home in Litchfield.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Church of Our Lady in Manannah with the Rev. Francis Garvey officiating. Burial will be in Burr Oak Cemetery, Union Grove Township, Meeker County.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born Dec. 29, 1942, in Manannah Township, Meeker County, to Howard and Esther (Finneman) Johnson. Because of mental retardation she lived at Lutheran Social Services Group Home.
She is survived by her mother of Manannah; brothers Chester (and Phyllis) Johnson of Charleston, S.C., Kenneth (and Diane) Johnson of St. Cloud, Robert (and Barbara) Johnson of St. Cloud and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father.

Clifford W. Kulbeck
May 10, 1924 - Jan. 13, 2001
MONTEVIDEO -- Clifford W. Kulbeck, 76, of Montevideo died Saturday at Clarkfield Care Center.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Watson with the Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be this afternoon and evening at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
He was born May 10, 1924, in Danbury, Wis., to Henry and Bertha (Ovre) Kulbeck. He graduated from Webster, Wis., High School and attended Minneapolis Business College. He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II.
On March 24, 1946, he married Florence Golden near Watson. He worked at National Bushing in Montevideo for nine years and ran a general store in Webster, Wis., for several years before moving to Minneapolis. They returned to Montevideo in 1997. He was currently a resident of Clarkfield Care Center.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the DAV.
He is survived by his wife; brothers Raymond (and Phyllis) Kulbeck of Fountain, Colo., Wilfred (and Pearl) Kulbeck of Fayetteville, N.C.; sister Doris (and Charles) Rieck of Middleton, Wis., and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, one in infancy.

Sharon Winters
Jan. 15, 1945 - Jan. 13, 2001
MONTEVIDEO -- Sharon Winters, 55, of Montevideo died Saturday at Abbot-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo with the Rev. Leo Deitemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
She was born Jan. 15, 1945, in Chippewa County to William and Esther (Linde) Winters. She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1963. She worked as a nursing assistant at Luther Haven Nursing Home for more than 20 years.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
She is survived by brothers Richard Winters of Montevideo, Bruce Winters of Montevideo and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.

Darlene J. Tharp
Sept. 5, 1932 - Jan. 14, 2001
LAKE LILLIAN -- Darlene Jane Tharp, 68, of Lake Lillian died Sunday at Burns Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Cosmos. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Waterman Cemetery near Sutherland, Iowa.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughes Funeral Home in Cosmos and one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born Sept. 5, 1932, in Sutherland, Iowa, to Clair and Amy (Nelson) Bryant. She graduated from Litchfield High School. After attending St. Cloud Teachers College, she taught country school in Cosmos for one year and returned to Iowa in 1953.
In July 1954, she married Robert Tharp in Sutherland, Iowa. They moved in 1959 to Minnesota where they farmed near New London until moving to Lake Lillian in 1973. She worked at Green Lake State Bank in Spicer. She had been confined to a wheelchair the last 15 years.
She was a charter member of the Cosmos United Methodist Church and was a 4-H leader.
She is survived by her husband; children Amy (and Duane) Fowler of Hastings, Kim (and Colleen) Tharp of Hastings, Lisa (and Chet) Borger of Buffalo; six grandchildren; brother Lee Bryant of Willmar; sister Beverly (and Ken) Orthmann of Sutherland, Iowa, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son.

Robert J. Kieffer
Jan. 8, 1936 - Jan. 1, 2001
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Robert J. "Bob" Kieffer, 64, of Tempe, Ariz., formerly of Olivia, died Jan. 1 at Desert Samaritan Hospital in Mesa, Ariz.
His funeral was Jan. 5 at Resurrection Church in Tempe. Private family burial will be in Olivia Cemetery at a later date.
He was born Jan. 8, 1936, in Mott, N.D., to Joseph and Marie (Friezen) Kieffer. He grew up and attended school in the Olivia area. He worked at his parents' refrigeration business in Olivia. He served in the armed forces from 1958-64.
On June 13, 1959, he married Tillie Sietsema in New Mexico. They lived in Roseville, Redwood Falls and Shakopee where he was employed by Control Data. They moved in 1979 to Tempe where he was employed by ITT.
He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Tempe and Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife; sons Ray (and Kelley) of Gilbert, Ariz., Ron of Chandler; two grandsons; sisters Sister Martha Kieffer of Eagan, Janine (and Paul) Walker of Minnetonka, Donna (and Oscar) Peterson of Lodi, Wis., and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Patty Ann and one brother.

James W. Smith
Oct. 14, 1941 - Jan. 12, 2001
CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- James W. Smith, 59, of Lake Lillian, St. James City, Fla., and formerly of Redwood Falls, died Friday at Lee County Memorial Hospital in Cape Coral.
His memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls. Burial will be in Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls.
He was born Oct. 14, 1941, in Madelia to Walter and Dorothy (Martin) Smith. He attended Madelia High School, Kansas State University and Marshall College.
On July 28, 1962, he married Shirley Rick. They lived in Redwood Falls from 1962-97, when they moved to Big Kandiyohi Lake in Lake Lillian. He owned and operated Redwood Concrete Products, selling the business in 1997. They wintered on Pine Island in St. James City.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls, Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, Boy Scouts and Redwood Falls Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by his wife; daughters Suzie (and Ron) Brusoe of Oakdale, Pam (and Gary) Iverson of Redwood Falls, Barb (and Chris) Miest of St. Peter; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and his parents.
