LITCHFIELD -- Stanley Perry Langness, 54, of Litchfield died Monday at his residence in Litchfield.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Dassel Covenant Church in Dassel with the Rev. Douglas Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Lake Jenny Cemetery in Collinwood Township, Meeker County.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born June 7, 1946, in Stillwater to Dennis and Florence (Orf) Langness. He was a 1964 graduate of Stillwater High School.
On Sept. 9, 1967, he married Kay Dalin in St. Paul. They lived in the Stillwater area, moving to Cosmos in 1978. They opened Stan's Foods which they operated until 1992. They then lived in several neighboring communities, settling in Litchfield in 1998. He was manager for the Litchfield Tom Thumb, was an independent salesman and opened Nicola's Coffee and More in Litchfield.
He was a member of Lake Jenny Covenant Church in rural Dassel, the Litchfield Camp of Gideons International and Litchfield Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by his wife; sons Anthony of Litchfield, Christopher of Cosmos; one granddaughter; mother; sisters Gloria (and David) Asmus of Las Vegas, Nev., Diane (and Dennis) White of Lakeland, Wanda (and Dean) Kern of Stillwater, Rosie (and Gerald) Asmus of Stillwater, Janet Langness of Oakdale; brothers Wayne (and Sue) of Stillwater, Jerry (and Judy) of Stillwater, Dale (and Karen) of Woodbury, Bruce of Stillwater, Larry of West Palm Beach, Fla., Myron (and Sharon) of Cottage Grove, Randy (and Colleen) of Chisago City and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers.
Laurentina 'Tiny' Malacek

OLIVIA -- Laurentina "Tiny" Malacek, 75, of Olivia died Tuesday at Olivia Healthcare Center.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Cross of Calvary Church in Olivia. Burial will be in Bird Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, and one hour prior to services Friday, at the church. Arrangements are with Hughes Funeral Home of Hector.
She was born July 19, 1925, in Redwood Falls to Sheriden and Mary (Andersen) Flaherty. She was a graduate of Olivia High School.
On Sept. 15, 1980, she married Frank Malacek in Seattle, Wash. They lived in Olivia. She has been a resident of Olivia Healthcare Center for two years.
She is survived by her husband; son Marvin (and Mary) Hinrichs of Maple Grove; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters Blanche LeBlanc of Seattle, Wash., Shirley (and LuVerne) Strey of Bird Island and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sons Larry and David, two brothers and one sister.
Linda Laidlaw Donnay

MAPLEWOOD -- Linda Laidlaw Donnay, 45, of Maplewood, formerly of New London, died at her home Monday after a long struggle with a chronic illness.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hawick United Methodist Church in Hawick with the Rev. Ruth Lovejoy officiating. Burial will be in Roseville Cemetery in Hawick.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home in New London.
She was born June 4, 1955, in Paynesville to Glen and Gerry (Anderson) Laidlaw. She graduated from New London High School in 1973. She attended Willmar Vocational School for two years, before transferring to St. Cloud State University. She graduated with a degree in medical records from Viterbo College in LaCrosse, Wis.
On June 15, 1975, she married Mark Curtis. They later divorced.
On July 28, 1979, she married Bill Donnay in St. Cloud. They lived in the St. Paul area where she worked as medical records administrator at Mounds Park Hospital for two years. From 1984-98 she was a Realtor in the St. Paul area. She and Bill later divorced. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1989.
She is survived by her sons Ted and Nate Donnay of Maplewood; her parents of New London; grandfather Roosevelt Anderson of Belgrade; brothers Dale (and Bonnie) Laidlaw of New London, Paul Laidlaw of St. Paul, the Rev. Mike (and the Rev. Carol) Laidlaw of St. Cloud and other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and maternal grandmother.
Maynard Rising

VILLARD -- Maynard Rising, 52, of Villard died Tuesday at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at St. John's Lutheran Church in Villard with the Rev. Lawrence Cain officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military honors by Robert A. Lee American Legion Post 175 of Villard.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Hoplin Funeral Home in Glenwood.
He was born Oct. 8, 1948, in Alexandria to Harold and Pearl (Wunderlich) Rising. He was a 1967 graduate of Villard High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968-70 in Vietnam, where he received several medals.
On June 10, 1972, he married Barbara Sanvig in Villard. He was employed as a gravel truck operator by a road construction company, and was currently a truck driver for various construction and grain hauling companies.
He was a life member of Eagle Bend VFW Post 6318.
He is survived by his children Rhonda (and David) Fuchs of West Haven, Conn., Wade (and Stephanie) Rising of McGuire Air Force Base, N.J., Brenda of Alexandria; mother of Villard; brothers Larry of Villard, Wayne (and Jean) of Eagle Bend, Byrne of Villard and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Ruth F. Mickelson

BELGRADE -- Ruth Fredrikka Mickelson, 101, of Belgrade died Wednesday at Bethesda Heritage Nursing Home in Willmar.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Crow River Lutheran Church in rural Belgrade with the Rev. Michael DeKraai and the Rev. Ron Struxness officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade and one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born Sept. 29, 1899, in Belgrade to Fredrick and Josephine (Anderson) Mickelson. She was valedictorian of the Belgrade High School Class of 1917, and was a 1921 graduate of Miss Woods Kindergarten School in Minneapolis. She taught school in Belgrade and Cannon Falls for five years. She moved to Thief River Falls where she taught kindergarten from 1927 to 1965 when she retired. She returned to Belgrade. She moved to Glen Oaks Retirement Center in New London in 1998, and to Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar in 1999.
She was an associate member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, serving as superintendent of the primary department, Sunday School teacher and member of Dorcas, LDR and Ladies Aid. In Belgrade, she attended Crow River Lutheran Church, serving as Sunday School teacher and member of Ladies Aid. She was a charter member of Belgrade Garden Club.
She is survived by her brother Carl Norman (and Margaret) Mickelson of Grand Rapids and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and four sisters, two in infancy.
Alvin J. Huls

HECTOR -- Alvin Joel Huls, 71, of Hector died Wednesday at Renville County Hospital in Olivia.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hector. Burial will be in Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Hughes Funeral Home in Hector and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born Nov. 6, 1929, in Worthington to George and Mathilda (Wiechman) Huls. He attended Hector country school.
On April 15, 1952, he married Marjorie Nenow in Hector. He was employed by several Hector area farmers. He started farming southeast of Hector in 1965. Marjorie died in 1997.
He is survived by his sons Curtis (and LuAnn) Huls of Glencoe, Rick Huls (and fiancée Tammy Grejtak) of Hector; four grandchildren; mother of Hutchinson; brothers Rudy (and Marjorie) Huls of Hutchinson, Wally (and Ruby) Huls of Buffalo Lake, Ellsworth (and Phyllis) Huls of Buffalo lake; sister Lois (and Delbert) Ufkes of Hector and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father and wife.
Helmut 'Dutch' Laschewski

LITCHFIELD -- Helmut Ludwig Johannes "Dutch" Laschewski, 90, of Litchfield died Wednesday at Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield with the Rev. Harvey Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield.
Visitation will be 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born July 15, 1910, in Kiel, Germany, to Johannes and Karoline Laschewski. He came to the United States through Ellis Island on April 25, 1925. He lived and worked in Mobile, Iowa, and on a farm near Rushford. He was a lumberjack for a logging company in northern Minnesota and built large grain elevators in Winona. He also was employed by Halvorson Implement of Spicer, later owning a truck business called Helmut Transfer. In 1953 he started employment as a long distance trucker with Cold Spring Granite Company.
On Nov. 25, 1944, he married Pearl Borchardt in Cedar Mills. They lived in Spicer, moving to Litchfield in 1955.
He is survived by his wife; daughters Margaret (and Ron) Albright of Kasson, Carol (and Ray McGee) Laschewski of Gilman, Iowa; two granddaughters and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother and one brother.
Robert C. Lanes

MONTEVIDEO -- Robert Charles Lanes, 75, of Montevideo died Wednesday at Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with the Rev. Michael Briggs officiating. Burial will be in Black Oak Lake Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be this afternoon and evening, with family present 5 to 7 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
He was born April 28, 1925, in Leenthrop Township, Chippewa County, to Walter and Edith (Eichelberger) Lanes. He was a graduate of Montevideo High School.
On Oct. 27, 1945, he married Ione Johnson in Milan. They farmed in Leenthrop Township, moving into Montevideo in 1998.
He was a member of Black Oak Lake Lutheran Church, serving on Brotherhood and Cemetery Board. He was a current member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving on Property Committee and Men's Bible Study.
He is survived by his wife; daughter Sally (and Roger) Shaur of Bloomington; sons Dr. Tom (and Colleen) Lanes of Alexandria, Jerry (and Bonnie) Lanes of St. Peter; seven grandchildren; brothers Don (and Florence) Lanes of Minneapolis, Bruce (and Casey) Lanes of Anoka, Lee (and Vickie) Lanes of Columbia, Mo., and other relatives.

Clytus E. Coil

LAKE LILLIAN -- Clytus E. Coil, 86, of Lake Lillian died Wednesday at Infinia Healthcare Center in Willmar.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian. Burial will be in Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at K-M Funeral Home in Lake Lillian and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born Oct. 24, 1914, in Canby to Ira and Mary (Peterson) Coil. He was a 1933 graduate of Willmar High School. He attended Auctioneers School in Austin and was a part-time auctioneer until 1977. He attended Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa, two semesters. He served in the U.S. Army for 3_ years and was stationed in New Guinea, the Admiralty Islands, Luzon in the Philippine Islands and Tokyo and Yokohama, Japan. He returned to Lake Lillian where he owned and operated Clyde's Radio Service until October 1952. He then took over the Standard Bulk Oil business.
On July 6, 1952, he married Deloris Gerstenkorn. He was appointed rural mail carrier in August 1959, and retired in 1980.
He was a member and officer of American Legion Bomsta-Johnson Post 615, member of Minnesota Rural Letter Carriers Association, holding offices in Area 4 and Kandiyohi County, was a local volunteer fireman, Bird Island-Lake Lillian School Board member and First Lutheran Church Council member.
He is survived by his wife; sons Mark (and Carol) of Grand Rapids, Jon (and Judith) of Kelliher, Dean of Albuquerque, N.M., Brian of Abu Ohabi, United Arab Emirates; daughters Marlene (and Ed) Lofgren of Haviland, Kan., Jean (and Robbie) Callisto of Crosby; 10 grandchildren; brothers Horace (and Novia) Coil of Lake Lillian, Erland (and Shirley) Coil of Outing; sister Althea (and Willard) Brandt of Willmar and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and an infant son.
Marcella 'Sal' Anderson

OLIVIA -- Marcella "Sal" Anderson, 82, of Olivia died Wednesday at Renville County Hospital in Olivia.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Cross Of Calvary Lutheran Church in Olivia with the Rev. Ronald Hackmann officiating. Burial will be in Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia and one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born Feb. 27, 1918, in Litchfield to Nels and Anna (Martinson) Nelson. She was a 1934 graduate of Litchfield High School and a 1935 graduate of teachers training in Litchfield. She taught school at Darwin for five years.
On Nov. 29, 1941, she married Delhart Anderson in rural Grove City. They lived two years in Proctor, moving to Willmar in 1947 where they owned and operated a grocery store for two years. In 1949 they moved to Olivia where they owned and operated Andy's U-Save Grocery Store until 1971. Del died in 1975. She was employed by Renville County Hospital 1972-95.
She was a member of Cross Of Calvary Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her sons Bruce (and Mary) Anderson of Baxter, Bryan (and Melinda) Anderson of Edina; three grandchildren; and brothers Allan (and Janice) Nelson of Litchfield and Lloyal (and Lois) Nelson of Litchfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.
Ellsworth J. Nehring

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Ellsworth J. Nehring, 94, of Los Angeles, formerly of Paynesville, died Wednesday at Kingsley Manor in Los Angeles.
His memorial service will be held at a later date.
Local arrangements are with Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville.
He was born Nov. 5, 1906, in Paynesville to Aaron and Elizabeth (Behr) Nehring. He was a 1924 graduate of Paynesville High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-45 during World War II. He was an insurance salesman for First State Bank in Paynesville and later in East Grand Forks. He lived in Tucson, Ariz., moving to Los Angeles in 1952. He retired from the insurance industry in 1961.
He was a member of Paynesville American Legion Post 271 and Grace United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his nephews and nieces Arthur (and Rose) Nehring of Tucson, David Nehring of Tucson, Norval (and Nancy) Nehring of Minneapolis, Weston (and Lois) Nehring of Paynesville, Elizabeth (and William) Schwarze of Lester Prairie and Frances (and Roger) Gorman of Columbus, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Mary A. Uthe

BIRD ISLAND -- Mary A. Uthe, 101, of Bird Island, died Thursday at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bird Island with the Rev. Phil Schotzko officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., with 7 p.m. prayer service, Sunday, and noon to 1:15 p.m. Monday, at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Bird Island.
She was born June 24, 1899, in Bird Island, to John and Anna Dummer. She attended St. Mary's Grade School. On Sept. 21, 1921, she married Henry B. Uthe in Bird Island. She was a member of a garden club.
She is survived by her children Doris van der Hagen of Savage, Pauline Billigmeier of Bird Island, Edna (and Bob) Bunker of Bird Island, Kenneth (and LaVonne) Uthe of Circle Pines, Adeline (and Jim) Welsh of Marshall; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and sisters Lucy Kramer of Bird Island and Bertha Jakobitz of Olivia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter, two sons-in-law, one great-grandson, two brothers and one sister.
Darrell Bahlmann

LOWRY -- Darrell Bahlmann, 69, of Lowry, died Thursday at Minnewaska District Hospital in Starbuck.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hoplin Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with the Rev. James Gronewold officiating. Private entombment will be in Kinkead Cemetery Mausoleum in Alexandria.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel.
He was born June 23, 1931, in Tripoli, Bremer County, Iowa, to Carl and Alma (Buls) Bahlmann. He served in the U.S. Army, was a Korean veteran, served a tour of duty in Brazil and was later a recruiter in Waterloo, Iowa. He was employed as a truck driver in Minneapolis, and was a security guard for Minneapolis area banks.
On Dec. 15, 1967, he married Helen Jane Tauber. They moved to Lowry in 1994. He was employed as a security guard by Cliff Euerle of CF Industries of Glenwood.
He is survived by his wife; daughters Susan, Ellen; grandchildren; sisters Laura Bahlmann of Waterloo, Iowa, Irene Gerber of Mankato and Darlene Chambers of Santa Fe Springs, Calif.; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and three sisters.
