SWIFT FALLS -- Joyce Ann Hanson, 68, of Swift Falls died Thursday at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
Her funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Swift Falls with the Rev. Pari Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Swift Falls Cemetery.
Visitation is for one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are by Jacobson-Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
She was born Nov. 7, 1932, in Richmond, Va., to John and Virginia (Olinger) Leonituk. She grew up in Richmond and graduated from Highland Springs High School.
On Nov. 7, 1953, she married Dennis M. Hanson in Richmond, Va. They lived in the Minneapolis area for 39 years and in Swift Falls for the past seven years. She was a waitress for 25 years and a past principal of the St. Stephen's Lutheran Church confirmation school in Bloomington. She was an active member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Swift Falls and past president of the W.E.L.C.A. in 1998.
She is survived by her husband; daughters Deena Hanson of New Orleans, La., Delinda (and Bob) Battie of Apple Valley, Diane Hanson of Mankato, Dorie (and Michael) Enger of Bloomington; son David (and Mary Lee) Hanson of Richfield; nine grandchildren; sister Doris Plott of Boynton, Fla., and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

WILLMAR -- Jessica Ann Escobedo, 21, of Willmar died Friday at St. Cloud Hospital from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Willmar with the Rev. Joe Steinbeisser officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday with 7:30 p.m. parish prayers at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
She was born Oct. 12, 1979, in Harlingen, Texas, to Sylvia Soliz and Arturo Escobedo Jr. She grew up in Texas and moved to Willmar in 1991. In 1998, she graduated from Willmar High School and was attending Ridgewater Community College. She was employed by the Divine House and most recently at On Cue. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her parents Sylvia and John Wodash of Willmar; sisters Becky (and Garrett) Harper of New York Mills, Jenise Escobedo (and Jimmy Lopez) of Pennock, Savannah Garza of Willmar, Johnika Tyler Wodash of Willmar; special friend Ryan Kruger of Willmar; grandparents Elena Soliz of Texas, Jim and Phyllis Wodash of Willmar; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather.
Evelyn M. Timmons

GLENWOOD -- Evelyn M. Timmons, 85, of Glenwood died Friday at the Glenwood Retirement Village.
Her funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at the All Saints Chapel at Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood. Burial will be in the Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery.
There will be visitation one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Arrangements are by Hoplin Funeral Home in Glenwood.
She was born March 16, 1915, to Samuel and Annie (Heggestad) Barsness. She graduated from Glenwood High School as salutatorian in 1932.
She was a librarian at the Glenwood Public Library. She loved to write poetry. She had a radio spot on KXRA in Alexandria called "Hello Neighbor" where she read her poetry under he pen name Honor Bright.
She is survived by two children, John Timmons of Kansas City, Carol (and Jon) Wallestad of Anoka; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister Myrtle Anderson of Glenwood; brothers Stan Barsness of Glenwood and Gordon Barsness of Fort Lupton, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Holmes Timmons, a sister and four brothers.
Evelyn M. Kruse

PEQUOT LAKES -- Evelyn M. Kruse, 73, of Brainerd, formerly of Pequot Lakes, died Thursday at Bethany Good Samaritan Home in Brainerd.
Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Pequot Lakes with the Rev. Frank Milo officiating. Burial will be in the Pequot Lakes Village Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Northland Funeral Home in Pequot Lakes and continue for one hour prior to services at the church.
Survivors include her daughter Judy (and Larry) Lind of Kandiyohi.
Glen Warkenthien

GRANITE FALLS -- Glen Merle Warkenthien, 63, of Granite Falls died Saturday at his home from cancer.
His memorial funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, S.D. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls. Arrangements are by Kulow Funeral and Cremation Services of Echo.
He was born July 1, 1937, on the family farm west of Willow Lake, S.D., to Merle and Bernice (Tibbetts) Warkenthien. He attended rural school and Willow Lake High School, graduating from DeSmet High School in 1956. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army. He worked as an electrician for the remainder of his life in Huron, Brookings and Sioux Falls, S.D., and in Minnesota.
On May 1, 1959, he married Carol Havens in DeSmet, S.D. They lived in Huron, Brookings and Sioux Falls. After her death in 1989, he married Janice Bowers on April 26, 1997, in Deadwood, S.D., and resided in Granite Falls. He was a member of the Sioux Falls American Legion and V.F.W. He also was a member of the Local 426 I.B.E.W. in Sioux Falls.
He is survived by his wife of Granite Falls; daughter Karla (and David) Schaff of Crooks, S.D.; sons Jeff (and Tracy) of Sioux Falls, S.D., Paul (and Kim) of Baltic, S.D.; mother Bernice (and Theophil) Kost of Huron, S.D.; stepdaughters Kathy (and Mike) Coubal of St. James, Kris Hanson of Burnsville; stepson Kim (and Robin) Bowers of Granite Falls; eight grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-granddaughters; sisters Dorothy Evenson of Willow Lake, Janice (and Curt) Asleson of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; brother Ron (and Susan) Olson of Mitchell, S.D. and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Carol in 1989, father, brother, granddaughter and stepson.
Verna Potter

MONTEVIDEO -- Verna Violet Potter, 90, of Montevideo died Friday at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Congregational Church in Montevideo with the Rev. Jean Boese officiating. Burial will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be this afternoon and with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
She was born April 20, 1910, in Spencer, Iowa, to Arthur and Hazel (Cook) Curtis. She grew up in Iowa and later moved to the Maynard area where she attended rural school and high school.
On April 28, 1928, she married Elmer Potter in Montevideo. They lived in the Granite Falls, Maynard and Bird Island areas before settling in Montevideo. She was a resident of Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
She worked at The Maus Store and Rich's U Save as a grocery clerk before retiring. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Montevideo and had served as treasurer.
She is survived by her daughters Phyllis (and Jack) Neumann of Mission, Texas, Sharon Saice of Fridley; sons Elmer "Bud" (and Emy) of Savage, Ronald (and Pat) of Montevideo; daughter-in-law Kathy Potter of Chetek, Wis.; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Harbour of Montevideo, Inez Tallard of Portland, Ore., and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1982, son James, a grandson, a granddaughter, brother and two sisters.

FAIRMONT -- Dr. Dennis James Sternke, 50, of Fairmont died Thursday in Fairmont.
His funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fairmont with burial in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and continue for one hour prior to services at the church.
He married Jeannine Dunlavy on Dec. 18, 1971, in Willmar.
Survivors include his wife of Fairmont, four sons, one daughter, a daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, his mother, four brothers, four sisters and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father.

Earl D. Geselle

NAMPA, Idaho -- Earl Daniel Geselle, 86, of Nampa, Idaho, formerly of Olivia, died Jan. 9 at Hagelin Hospice House in Nampa.
His funeral was Jan. 12 at First Church of the Nazarene in Nampa with the Rev. Robert L. Miller officiating.
Arrangements were with Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel in Nampa.
He was born June 8, 1914, in Olivia, to Olen W. and Lillian L. (Pfettscher) Geselle. He attended Northwest Nazarene College. On Oct. 12, 1943, he married Grace Brinker in Redwood Falls. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He returned to Olivia where he was a general contractor. He constructed and operated the nursing home, which is now Olivia Health Care Center, as well as two other nursing homes plus many churches. He moved to Nampa in 1965 where he was also a builder, owner and manager. He was a founder of Western Idaho Training Center and honored in 1989 for his service as founder, president and board member.
He is survived by his wife; children Richard (and Julie) of Benicia, Calif., Marcia (and Ward) Bates of Denver, Colo., Chuck (and Dawn) of Meridian, Idaho, Susan (and the Rev. Bud) Hampton of Cheyenne, Wyo., Ron (and Karen) of Meridan, Judy (and Jim) Baker of Reno, Nev., Paula (and Paul) Smith of Boise, Idaho, Deb Parsons of Caldwell, Idaho, Jane Evans (and Doug Tamura) of Boise, Terry (and Teri) of Boise, Brad of Caldwell, Lori Trihub of Sacramento, Calif., Mike (and Christine) of Nampa; 26 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters LaVerna Geselle of Willmar, Geraldine Swanson of Hector; and other relatives.

APPLETON -- Mildred Clarice Irgens, 87, formerly of Appleton, died Sunday at Wellstad Care Center in Rogers.
Her memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton with the Rev. Scott Nagel and the Rev. Herbert Rotunda officiating. Burial will be in Appleton City Cemetery.
Arrangements are with Vaala Funeral Home in Appleton.
She was born Oct. 26, 1913, in Madison, to Clarence O. and Sarah M. (Dailey) Lee. She attended Madison schools and was a graduate of Moorhead State College. On June 11, 1939, she married LeRoy Irgens. She taught school retiring in 1966. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, active with women's fellowship and senior choir, Appleton Art Club, Appleton Golf Club and Marathon Bridge Club.
She is survived by her children Nancee (and Dennis) Melin of Tucson, Ariz., Janice (and Charles) Darth of Plymouth, Mark (and Eileen) of Brooklyn Park; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on March 16, 1990, one brother and one sister.
Iona M. Lovehaug

APPLETON -- Iona Mildred Lovehaug, 77, of Appleton, died Jan. 19 at Appleton Municipal Hospital.
Her funeral was Tuesday at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with the Rev. Wayne Anderson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Arrangements were with Vaala Funeral Home in Appleton.
She was born Sept. 28, 1923, in Moyer Township, Swift County, to Paul and Hulda (Erdman) Reich. She attended Moyer Township rural school. On Sept. 23, 1962, she married Orlen Lovehaug in Appleton. She was employed as a waitress seven years and by Appleton Pharmacy for 27 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church and Appleton Municipal Hospital and Nursing Home Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband; brother Mel (and Joyce) Reich of Grove City; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Della Willson

GRANITE FALLS -- Della Mary Willson, 82, of Granite Falls died Sunday at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.

She was born March 15, 1928, in Page, N.D., to Daniel and Agnes (Dagel) McDonald. On Oct. 7, 1947, she married Darell Willson in Valley City, N.D. She was employed by Medtronic Company in Montevideo, retiring at age 58.
She is survived by her children Richard (and Shirley) of Chapin, S.C., Ken (and Kim) of Polson, Mont., Linda Willson of Kalispell, Mont., Kathy Willson of Granite Falls, Ron (and Ruth) of Wellington, Colo.; two brothers; two sisters; 12 grandchildren; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1999, an infant daughter and six brothers and sisters.
Maurice Haugen

BENSON -- Maurice Oral Haugen, 91, of Benson, died Sunday at the Meadow Lane Health Care Center, Benson.
His funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Swift Falls with the Rev. Pari Bailey officiating. Burial will be in St. Pauli Cemetery, rural Swift Falls.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Jacobson-Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson and for one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born July 2, 1909, in Kerkhoven Township, to Peter and Anna Haugen. He grew up in the Kerkhoven area, attending school at District 86.
In 1933, he married Clara Torgelson. They farmed north of Kerkhoven. Clara died in 1963. In 1965, he married Marie Loen. Marie died in 1989. After retirement, he worked for Tyler Manufacturing, Benson Floral and the City of Benson, mowing grass in the parks and ball fields. He was a 4-H leader and belonged to the Farmers Union.
He is survived by a son, Eugene (and Arlene) of Willmar; daughter, Darlene Pitky of New London; two stepsons, Maurice (and Pricilla) Loen of Blaine and Arden (and Barbara) Loen of Benson; three stepdaughters, Elaine (and Mike)_Hefner of Brooklyn Park, Vera (and Don) Finnes of Granite Falls, and Lorna (and Marlyn) Bahl of Willmar; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; 19 stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother George (and Hilda) of California; two sisters, Eleanor LaMarr and Violet Million of California; and other relatives.

J. Ardell Johnson

GREEN VALLEY, Ariz. -- Jalmer Ardell Johnson, 71, of Green Valley, Ariz., died Jan. 14 in Green Valley.
His memorial services were held Jan. 17 in Green Valley and Jan. 20 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hackensack. Burial was in Mamrelund Cemetery in Pennock. Memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Stained Glass Window Fund, Hackensack, Minn. 56452, are preferred.
He was born July 14, 1929, near Norway Lake, to Mamie and Hjalmer Johnson. He attended Pennock and Kerkhoven area schools, as well as Morris High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force and received his GED from Willmar High School. On June 9, 1956, he married Shirley Ann Nehring. He was a graduate of Dunwoody Institute and joined Electricians Union Local 292 IBEW, working for various commercial electrical contractors. They lived in Hopkins, St. Louis Park and Maple Plain, moving to Hackensack when he retired in 1991. They wintered in Green Valley.
He is survived by his wife; daughters Susan (and James) Holthaus of St. Cloud, Lori (and Michael) Coleman of Onalaska, Wis., Karen (and John) Dalton of Andover, Nancy (and David) Fuchs of Rogers; 11 grandchildren; sisters Liala Forsberg, Norma (and Burgess) Eberhardt; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Lyle J. Holt

MONTEVIDEO -- Lyle Jerome Holt, 55, of Montevideo, died Saturday at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Fine Arts Theatre in the Old Middle School in Montevideo with Brother Keith Rissell officiating.
Arrangements are with Kulow Funeral Service in Echo.
He was born Dec. 10, 1945, in Echo, to Arthur and Frieda (Abrahamson) Holt. He attended Echo Public Schools. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He returned to the Echo area where he was employed by Hildal Construction. On Dec. 23, 1980, he married Shirley Koskela in Redwood Falls. They lived in Montevideo where he was employed by Friendship Homes. He was a member of Jehovah's Witness in Montevideo.
He is survived by his wife; daughters Mindy Sisco of Montevideo, Amber Salo of Granite Falls, Bridget Holt of Montevideo; brother Richard (and Kate) Holt of Hutchinson; sister Emily (and Eldon) Kuehn of Redwood Falls; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one grandson.
