Rita Lord
KENNEBUNK, Maine - Rita V. Lord, 83, formerly of 413 Main St., Somersworth, N.H., died Monday, May 24, 2004, at the Kennebunk Nursing Center, Kennebunk, Maine.
She was born on Dec. 24, 1920, in Rochester, N.H., and was the daughter of Peter and Anne (DeBolis) Burbank. She was raised in Gonic, attending the Gonic School. She had been a resident of the Somersworth-Rochester area most of her life.
Prior to retirement, she had worked at the Spaulding Fiber Co.
Family members include one sister, Mrs. Rolph (Cecile) Vogelmann of Somersworth, N.H., and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a grandson, Dale Donnell; by a brother, George Burbank; by her daughter, Sandra Lord and by her husband, George J. Lord, who died in October of 1999.
The Bernier Funeral Home, 49 South St., Somersworth, N.H., has been entrusted with final arrangements.
Susan Jean (Clark) McNall
Somersworth - Susan Jean McNall (Clark), 51 of 9 Lil-Nor Ave. died peacefully Monday June 21, 2004 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Susan was born in Newburyport, Mass. on April 23, 1953 the daughter of Joseph E. and Barbara Irene (Sullivan) McNall. She attended the Kelly School in Newburyport and Newburyport High School, class of 1971, where she was a member and president of the Drafting Association.
Susan was a member of the International Executive Housekeeping Association and served two years as president of the Granite State Chapter of the Housekeeping Association and also served eight years as secretary, where she spent time coordinating a training manual for a Rochester Nursing Home. She was also a CASA volunteer and a foster mother. She loved to sit by the beach, go bicycling and camping.
Susan was Director of House Keeping at Exeter Health Resources.
Along with her parents, Susan is survived by her son Stephen Michael Clark and his significant other, Mindy Desharnais of Rochester, NH, her daughter Jennifer Robin Clark of Somersworth, NH, her two sisters; Patricia Stone and her husband Mark of Winchester, Mass. and Julie Daigle of Hanson, Mass., a brother-in-law Al LaMontagne of Nashua, NH, two grandchildren; Nikita Clark and Evan Clark and several nieces and nephews.
Susan was predeceased by her sister Joanne LaMontagne who died in 1998.

Alberta Carignan
SOMERSWORTH - Alberta Carignan, 91, formerly of 63 Maple St., died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover after a period of failing health. At the time of her death, she was living at the Wadleigh House in Dover.
She was born in Somersworth on Aug. 31, 1912, the daughter of Adjutor and Georgianna (Filion) Plante.
She attended St. Martin Academy in Somersworth.
She is survived by five children, Mrs. Irene Rouleau and her husband, Richard, of Marco Island, Fla.; Mrs. Diana Bounds and her husband, Rick, of Portsmouth; Mr. Roger Vachon and his wife, Jean, of Lebanon; Mrs. Annette Snook and her husband, John, of Worcester, Mass.; and Mrs. Muriel Bilodeau and her husband, Dan, of Barrington; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Alice Carignan of Somersworth.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Mr. Alfred Vachon, who died in 1973; Mr. Ernest Merz, who died in 1981, and Mr. Charles Carignan, who died in 1989.
August A. Dube
August A. "Gus" Dube, 86, of 16 Indigo Hill Rd. died Saturday March 27, 2004 at his home after a period of failing health.
Born in South Berwick, Maine on October 28, 1917 the son of Joseph and Roseanna (Lepage) Dube. He grew up and attended schools in Rollinsford and moved to Somersworth in 1955.
He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II having served with Dover Battery "B", 3rd BN, 197th FA Group. He was a member of the Rollinsford Post #47, American Legion.
August was a Class "A" tool & die maker and retired form the General Electric Company in Somersworth. He was an avid gardener and his other interests included photography, airplane pilot, scuba diving, motorcycles, hunting, and fishing and was also a musician.
He was a generous and loving man who enjoyed people. He always put out a helping hand and will be missed.
He is survived by his wife of more than 57 years Claire G. (Paradis) Dube, a son and his wife Leonard and Marguerite Dube of Exton, PA; a daughter and her husband Monique Simone and Richard Savasta of Carmichael, CA, six grandchildren Jenifer M. Savasta and Christopher R. Savasta both of Carmichael, CA, Christopher M. Dube, Nicholas P. Dube, Lauren Roth and Jonathan Roth all of Exton, PA. He also leaves two brothers Lionel Dube of Rochester, Brother Richard Dube, C.F.A. of St. Louis, MO, three sisters Lucia Fournier of Dover, Loretta Ouellette of Manchester, Rachael "Edna" Morin of Alton, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

James Gorman
Somersworth - James Gorman, 81, of 122 High Street, died Tuesday March 30, 2004 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover after a period of failing health.
James was born in Sanford, Maine on October 21, 1922 and was the son of Michael and Matilda (Tanguay) Gorman. He was raised in Sanford and was educated in the Sanford School System.
Mr. Gorman had been a resident of Somersworth for nearly 30 years. He was a master licensed plumber and had been employed before his retirement with Cyro of Sanford, Maine. He had also worked ten years with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a pipe fitter.
James was a former member of the Somersworth Lions Club and the Rochester Elks #1393. He enjoyed fixing things, a true handyman. While he was staying at the Riverside Resthome he would often fix wheelchairs for other nursing residents or other items needing repair at the nursing home.
Family members include his wife of 22 years, Virginia (Sarna) Gorman of Somersworth. A son Fred Godbout and his wife April of Milton and a daughter Barbara Wilson and her husband Leonard of Nashua. Other family members include two sisters, Mrs. John (Gladys) Touchette of Sanford, Maine and Gertrude Tumblin of Lebanon, Maine. 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother Albert Gorman.

Carolyn M. Murray
Dover, NH - Carolyn M. Murray, 39, of 708 Central Ave., died Friday February 27, 2004 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.
Born in Worcester, MA on December 11, 1964 the daughter of Charles W. and Ann F. (Donoghue) Murray. She was a 1982 graduate of Burncoat Senior High School and received her Associate's Degree from the Quinsigamond Community College both in Worcester and her Bachelors of Science in Accounting from the Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, NH.
She moved to Dover from Worcester in 1990 and has been employed in the accounting department at Liberty Mutual.
Carolyn was a communicant of St. Mary Church.
She is survived by her parents Charles W. and Ann F. Murray of Somersworth, two sons Timothy R. Murray of Dover, Thomas J. Murray and his wife Jessica of Somersworth, infant daughter Kayla M. Murray of Dover, a sister Mary F. Murray of Somersworth, a brother Rev. Pius C.W. Murray, C.S.S. of White Plains, NY and her former husband Timothy R. Tripaldi with whom she lived.

Gemma F. Bisson
Somersworth- Gemma F. Bisson, 77, formerly of High Street died Feb. 25, 2004 at Riverside Rest Home, Dover, where she had resided for the past 7 years.
Born in South Berwick, Me. on Sept. 20, 1926 she was the daughter of Hector & Aurelie (Pelletier) Desjardins. She had lived most of her life in Somersworth and was the widow of former city councilman Jules Bisson who died in 1987.
She was an active member of the DAV Auxiliary. She served as a past commander of Chapter 15 in Somersworth, was a past State Commander, and was recently active in the Dover Chapter.
Gemma was a communicant of St. Martins Church and was a former member of the Parish Council.
She was also active in local politics and was a former Somersworth Lioness.
The nursing staff at Riverside was very good to her and she loved them all.
She was predeceased by her brothers Gerard, Hector and Mark Desjardins and her sister Laurence Beauchesne.
Survivors include 2 sons, Henri Bisson of Anchorage, Alaska and Ronald Bisson of Contoocook, NH; 1 daughter, Elaine Jones of Grand Island, Fl.; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Martha April of Citrus Hills, Fl.; several cousins, and many nieces & nephews.

Ida Chabot
Somersworth - Ida Chabot, 90, formerly of 67 West High Street, died Sunday March 7, 2004 at The Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center of Rochester.
Ida was born in Somersworth on December 13, 1913 and was the daughter of Edmond and Rose Anna (Poulin) Aubert. She was raised in Somersworth and graduated from St. Martin Academy.
For more than 20 years, Ida had owned and operated Ida’s Shoppe in Somersworth. After closing the store she had been employed with several area shoe shops. She was a communicant of St. Martin Catholic Church and held life membership with the American Legion Ladies Aux. Post 69 of Somersworth.
Ida loved family, and truly enjoyed her nephews and nieces; she will be truly missed by all of them. Family members include two brothers, Wilfrid Aubert of Somersworth and Roland Aubert of Daytona Beach, FL. Three sisters, Mrs. Antoinette Morin of Shingle Springs, Ca; Mrs. Armand (Rita) Dubois and Mrs. Robert (Yvette) Gagnon both of Somersworth. Many nephews nieces and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph, Lionell, Alfred, Armand, and Rene Aubert. Her husband Clovis G. Chabot predeceased her in 1988.
It was Ida’s request that there be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00am in St. Martin Catholic Church W. High and Maple Street, Somersworth with Rev. Aaron Pfaff, Pastor as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth.

Adrien Chasse
Adrien Chasse, Fire chaplain
ROCHESTER — Adrien N. Chasse, 74, of Rochester, died in the comfort of his home and surrounded by family on March 5, 2004, from cancer.
He was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Somers-worth, the son of Noel C. and Annie Curran. A graduate of Somers-worth High School, he served in the U.S. Naval Reserve as a submariner in Division 1-34, Portsmouth. For 16 years, he served as a district executive for the Boy Scouts of America at various locations throughout New England. He was later employed at General Electric, retiring in 1989.
During his retirement, he volunteered in many different organizations, receiving numerous awards. He was a state chaplain for the NH American Legion and holder of the Legion of Honor, presented by the Chapel of Four Chaplains. He was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church and a member of the Greater Rochester Interfaith Council. Most recently he served as chaplain of both the Rochester and Somersworth fire departments.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Florence (Marie T.) Gagne; daughter, Claire Karnehm of Norwood, Mass.; daughter, Celeste Reid; son-in-law, David; grandsons, Andrew and Daniel of Derry; daughter, Camille Upson; son-in-law, Larry; grandchildren, Brad and Gretchen of Newington; son, Charles Chasse; daughter-in-law, Terry; granddaughter, Angela of Sanford, Maine; son, James Chasse; and granddaughters, Rebecca and Jessica of Gulfport, Mich.; brother, Dr. Paul P. Chasse of Somersworth; sister, Pauline Rodier of Englewood, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Frances Bickford Jagielski - 63, 0f 7 Washburn Court, Somersworth, died Monday March 1, 2004 at the Wentworth Douglass Hospital.
Mary was born in South Berwick, Me. on June 4, 1940, the daughter of Edward F. and Catherine Aileen (Parsons) Mulligan.
Mary worked as the activity assistant at St. Ann’s Health care until her retirement. She moved to Somersworth 4 years ago. She enjoyed gardening in her flower garden. Mary was a very dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony Jagielski; Mary is survived by her 6 children, Chester E. Bickford III of Dover, Dale C. Bickford of Milton, NH, James T. Donald W. Whinnem
Donald W. Whinnem, 53, formerly of Somersworth died March 3, 2004 at Riverside Rest Home in Dover following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Whinnem was born on January 20, 1951 in Hartford, CT the son of the Donald Y. Whinnem and Helen (Shea) Whinnem. Don leaves behind many friends and loving family who will miss him dearly.
Family members include; his wife, Susanne (Strempfer) Whinnem of Somersworth; one son, James D. Whinnem of Somersworth; one daughter, Julie M. Whinnem of Somersworth; his mother of Connecticut; one brother, Richard Whinnem of Connecticut; one sister, Cory Baron of Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and by one brother, Billy Whinnem.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date in Connecticut.
The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.
