Owned Bolivar garage and worked for Tri-Star; survived by wife, children
Charles J. Bartow, 60, of Bolivar died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999 at Memorial Hospital, Johnstown.
Mr. Bartow was born July 11, 1939 in Johnstown. He was a mechanic for Tri-Star Motors, Blairsville, and owned and operated Bartow's Garage in Bolivar for 29 years. He had been a mechanic since age 12, and considered it a hobby.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles H. and Minerva I. Brendlinger Bartow.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Darlene M. Henderson Bartow; two children, Mrs. Robert (Susan L.) Boring, at home, and Michael J., Latrobe; a granddaughter, Adrien; his sister Mrs. Dennis (Nancy) Garland, Bolivar.
Services were held Thursday at McCracken Funeral Home, Bolivar, Rev. R. Kenneth Keiper officiating. Interment
was in Westview Cemetery, Bolivar.
Helen Savage Bolo
Member of Church of the Good Shepherd, active in church groups
Helen M. Bolo, 87, of McIntyre died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999 at Indiana Hospital.
Mrs. Bolo was born Sept. 13, 1912 in Heilwood, Indiana County, daughter of the late Michael and Eva Berneskie Savage.
She was a long-time member of the former St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, McIntyre, and a current member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kent. She was active in St. Gertrude's Ladies Guild and Christian Mothers.
The last surviving member of her family, she was also a member of the Women's Suburban Bowling League for many years and was an avid bingo player.
Survivors include three children, Mrs. Stanley (Joan) Maschak, Shelocta, Mrs. Walt (Barbara) Johnson, Twinsburg, Ohio and Marty, Manassas, Va.; four grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Denegio "Babe" Bolo, in 1984; three brothers, John, Mickey and Pete.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at the Church of the Good Shepherd by Fr. Larry Kulick. Interment
was in St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana.
Memorial donations were suggested to the VNA/Hospice Foundation, 119 Professional Center, 1265 Wayne Ave., Indiana.
Sandra English Sulkosky
Survived by mother, husband, sons, brother, sisters and a granddaughter
Sandra R. Sulkosky, 51, pf Blairsville died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999 at Latrobe Area Hospital.
A member of SS. Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, Mrs. Sulkosky was born New Year's Day 1948 in Blairsville, daughter of Bernice Stiles of Blairsville and the late Clyde R. English.
Also surviving are her husband Edward H. and sons James and Michael, all of Blairsville;
Also surviving are her brother John Miller Jr., Dover; sisters Joan Lowman, Cresco, Kathy Campbell, Black Lick, Alice Boring, New Florence and Judy Lowman, Saltsburg; a granddaughter; her stepmother Goldie English, Black Lick.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather John B. Miller and her brothers Alvin E. English and Curtis R. Williams.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at SS. Simon and Jude Church by Fr. Chester Raimer. Interment
will be in the church Cemetery, Ferguson Funeral Home, Blairsville in charge.
Fredrick R. Trimble
Member of New Florence United Methodist Church, World War II vet
Fredrick R. Trimble, 76, of New Florence died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999 at Lee Hospital.
Mr. Trimble was born June 1, 1921 in New Florence, son of the late James D. and Martha Fulcomer Trimble. He was a member of New Florence United Methodist Church, and owned and operated Trimble's Store for over 50 years.
He was a World War II veteran, a life member of New Florence VFW Post 7622 and a member of Hood-Vanatt New Florence American Legion Post 307. He was retired from Jefferson Grocery Co.
Survivors include his wife Betty B. Berkstresser Trimble; his sisters Janet Marie Planinsek, Youngstown, and Clara M. Donahue, New Florence.
He was preceded in death by his brother James W.
Services and interment
were held Monday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Chapel, Rev. William Pieringer officiating. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence was in charge.

James Valgene Trimble
Meat cutter for A&P, Army war vet, member of C&M Alliance Church
James Valgene Trimble, 79, of Blairsville died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999 at Latrobe Area Hospital.
Mr. Trimble, born June 26, 1920 in Gypsy, Pa., lived most of his life in the Indiana and Blairsville areas, where he worked as a meat cutter for A&P Tea Co. before retiring in 1982. He served in the U.S. Army in the Second World War.
He was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, where he served on the executive board and in many other capacities.
He also belonged to the United Commercial Travelers Council No. 598 and Local 590 of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, where he served on the executive board for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Flora E. McCreary Trimble; three children, William, Blairsville, Mrs. Clair (Rose Marie) Christy, Indiana and Arlene Boyd, Greensburg; three grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews;
Also surviving are four sisters, Boneta Baker, Ashtabula, Ohio, Mrs. Harry (Waneta) Dravecky, Dixonville, Mrs. Arlington (Gaynell) Moore, Homer City and Mrs. Ronald (Joy) Libengood, Derry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald C. and Della Rowley Trimble, an infant son, David Lee, two brothers, Donald D. and Walter B., and a sister, Eleanor Dick.
Services were held Thursday in Indiana, Pastors William G. Murphy and John Buchman officiating. Interment
was in Oakland Cemetery.
Mildred Elizabeth Bukosky
Retired from Blairsville Westinghouse, member of St. Bonaventure RC Church
Mildred Elizabeth Bukosky, 74, of Black Lick (Palmertown) died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Miss Bukosky was born May 9, 1925 in Palmertown, Burrell Township, daughter of the late John and Anna Tomasko Bukosky. She lived all her lived in the Palmertown area, and was retired from Blairsville's Westinghouse plant.
She was a member of St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church, Black Lick, Catholic Daughters of America Court Queen of May 1685 and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Survivors include her brother John and his wife Ethel, Blairsville; two sisters-in-law, Frances Bukosky, Valley City, Ohio, and Thelma Bukosky, Indiana;
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister Anna Marie Kokolis; two brothers, Leonard and Paul, and a niece and nephew.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at St. Francis Church, Graceton, by Fr. Elmer Kacinko. Interment
was in SS. Simon and Jude Cemetery, Blairsville.
Memorial donations were suggested to Four Footed Friends, or to a favorite charity.
Dominick Catanzarite
Retiree from Chamberlain Manufacturing, was member of Derry Rod and Gun Club
Dominick "Moose" Catanzarite, 74, of Brenizer died Sunday, Oct. 17, 999 at home.
Mr. Catanzarite was born Dec. 4, 1924 in Iselin, Indiana County, son of the late Antonio A. and Elizabeth Zappia Catanzarite. He was retired from Chamberlain Manufacturing, Derry, and belonged to Derry Rod and Gun Club.
Survivors include his wife Rocci and wife Olga, Modesta, Calif., Sunta Brink, Derry, Mrs. Ronald (Antoinette) Pratt, Brenizer, Anthony, Atlantic City, N.J., John and wife Pat, Latrobe, and Phyllis Pandullo, Crabtree; many nieces and nephews.
His brother Frank and his sister Catherine Vizza preceded her in death.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday at SS. Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, by Fr. Chester Raimer.
Interment
was in the church Cemetery, Ferguson Funeral Home, Blairsville in charge.
Daisy Pearl Butler Jennings
Homer City United Methodist Church member survived by husband, children
Daisy Pearl Butler Jennings, 76, of Homer City died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999 at Indiana Hospital.
Mrs. Jennings, a member of Homer City United Methodist Church, was born Jan. 17, 1923 in Somerset County, daughter of the late Charles and Cathrine Murry Butler.
Survivors include her husband William Paul; four children, William Jr., Homer City, Melvin, Bedford, Ohio, Mrs. Nicholas (Linda) Kanyan, Coral and Mrs. Jack (Karen) Sink, Home; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;
Also surviving are two sisters and a brother, Verna Sopotnick, Homer City, Twila Lantzy, Aultman and John Butler, Conneautville.
Services were held Wednesday at Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City, Rev. Joseph Stains officiating. Interment
was in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
Daryl C. McKendrick
Josephine native had been security guard at Season All; wife, four children survive
Daryl C. McKendrick, 60, of Blairsville (Derry Township) died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999 at Latrobe Area Hospital.
Mr. McKendrick was born Jan. 3, 1939 in Josephine, Burrell Township, son of the late John and Susan Shaffer McKendrick. He had been employed as a security guard at the former Season All plant.
Surviving are his wife Mabel Clark McKendrick;
Also his children, Ruthie Blystone, Clarksburg, Kathie Buchinsky and Daryl Jr., at home, and Thomas, Saltsburg; his brothers and sister, Ray, Penn Run, Leonard, Black Lick, William, Blairsville, Joseph, McIntyre and Hazel Lukcik, San Jose, Calif.; eight grandchildren.
His brothers Leroy, Ronald and Robert and his sister Doris Jean preceded him in death.
Services were held Tuesday at Ferguson Funeral Home, Blairsville, Rev. Dana Craig officiating. Interment
was in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, West Wheatfield Township.

William F. Morrone
Homer City native was life member of Indiana VFW, U.S. Army veteran of WWII
William F. Morrone, 81, of Penn Run died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999 at Indiana Hospital.
Mr. Morrone, an Army veteran of World War II and life member of the Indiana VFW, was a coal miner for R&P Coal for 41 years until his retirement in 1977. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 1412.
Born Jan. 11, 1918 in Homer City to the late William F. and Mary E. Harnett Morrone, he enjoyed fishing, boating, woodworking and other crafts.
Survivors include his wife Lula Holmes Morrone, whom he married Dec. 26, 1941; three children, Mrs. Leonard (Mary Lou) Welker, Meadville, William R., Cambridge Springs and Mrs. Dennis (Linda) Swentosky, Avonmore;
Also surviving are three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Preceding him in death were his brothers and sisters Caroline Greaves, Virginia Johnson, Helen Connors, John and Ruth Test.
Interment
was in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.

Lena Mary Peroli Strini, 75, of Tearing Run died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999 at Westmoreland Hospital.
Mrs. Strini, a member of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, Coral, was born Sept. 6, 1924 in Waterman, Center Township, daughter of the late Joseph and Maria Pesci Peroli.
Five children survive her, Mrs. Herman (Gloria) Hilty, Lucernemines, Mrs. Robert (Erma) Alexander, Tearing Run, Mrs. Dennis (Elsie) Raffensperger, Greensburg, Marco, Saltsburg and Riccardo, DuBois; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
Also surviving are four sisters and brothers, Josephine Albertelli, South Fork, Jennie Stella and Anthony, Tearing Run, and Mario, Bison, Kan.
Her husband Peter and her sisters Louise Sasala and Lena preceded her in death.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at St. Francis Church by Fr. Elmer Kacinko. Interment
followed in SS. Simon and Jude Cemetery.

Louise Ann Timblin, 73, of Indiana died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999 at St. Andrew's Village, Indiana.
A retired registered nurse at Indiana Hospital, Mrs. Timblin was born June 22, 1926 in Homer City, daughter of Robert and Palmeria Gazza. She was a member of Graystone Presbyterian Church, Indiana, and the Indiana Hospital Nurses Alumni.
Survivors include her husband Wayne, whom she married Oct. 7, 1949; three children, Andrew, Vienna, Va., Mrs. Herbert (Lisa) MacArthur, McLean, Va., and Mrs. Joseph (Lorie) Thomas, Austin, Texas; four grandchildren;
Also surviving are four sisters and brothers, Lucy Michna, Monroeville, Betty Guido, Lakehurst, N.J., Louis, Belle Vernon and E. Robert, Homer City.
Her parents, her sisters Mary Gabelli and Jean LeCrichia and her brother Mario preceded her in death.
Services were held Monday in Indiana, Rev. Robert E. Larson officiating. Interment
was in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
Norma C. Snyder Wincek
LPN at Indiana Hospital was avid animal lover, a life-long Blairsville-area resident
Norma Cleda Snyder Wincek, 64, of Blairsville died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999 at Indiana Hospital.
Mrs. Wincek was born March 18, 1935 in Center Township, Indiana County, daughter of the late Mildred M. Snyder. She was a retired licensed practical nurse at Indiana Hospital, and a Blairsville-area resident for her entire life.
She was an avid animal lover all her life.
Survivors include her sister Mrs. William (Nancy) Coffman, and two daughters, Michelle and Megan, Homer City, and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband Thomas and her brothers Richard, and Charles Miller, preceded her in death.

Retiree from Latrobe Die Casting was member of St. John the Evangelist Church
Michael J. Yarchak, 76, of Latrobe died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999 at home.
Mr. Yarchak was born Nov. 19, 1922 in Kingston, Derry Township, son of the late Joseph and Barbara Niedzelska Yarchak.
A member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Latrobe, he retired from the former Latrobe Die Casting.
An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a charter member of the Cooperstown Veterans and Sportsmen's Association and a member of the Frontier Club, Latrobe, and the Hostetter Slovak Society.
Survivors include his wife Helen Monick Spitilli Yarchak;
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ed (Carol) Mahoney of Raynham, Mass. and Jackie Stewart, Elizabethtown, Ky.;
Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Mrs. Frank (Carol) Intrieri, Pittsburgh and Mrs. Jeff (Marianne) Povlik, Luxor; five grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Ann Weber, Latrobe and Mary Lucas, Greensburg.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie DeAngelo Yarchak, on Oct. 10, 1969; his brother Steve and his sister Katherine Daugherty.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at St. John Church by Fr. Thomas Lukac.
Interment
was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Unity Township.
Zoe A. Rogers Nealer
Armagh native, a retired beautician, founded Nealer Bottling Co. of Indiana
Zoe A. Rogers Nealer, 81, of Indiana died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999 at Indiana Hospital.
Mrs. Nealer, born May 2, 1918 in Armagh, was a retired beautician who founded and owned Nealer Bottling Co. of Indiana.
She had been an Indiana Hospital volunteer and was a past member of Grace United Methodist Church, Indiana.
Survivors include her son John Floyd, Indiana;
Also surviving are three grandchildren, John and Beth, Indiana, and Shawn and his wife Katie of North Carolina; two great-grandchildren;
Also surviving are two brothers, William of Springfield, Ohio and John of Johnstown.
She was preceded in death by her parents Scott and Jessie Ling Rogers; her husband Floyd J.; her daughter-in-law Diane Pearson Nealer; her sisters Josie, Velma and Matilda; her brother Ike.
Services were held Tuesday in Indiana, Rev. Richard Sanford officiating.
Interment
was in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
Helen Stiffler Robb
Derry native was a memer of Christ United Church, Bereans Fellowship
Helen M. Robb, 77, of Latrobe died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999 at home.
Mrs. Robb was born June 27, 1922 in Derry, daughter of the late Homer P. and Rhea Horner Stiffler.
A member of Christ United Church of Christ, Latrobe, she also belonged to the Bereans Fellowship Group.
Survivors include her husband of over 56 years, Walter J.;
Also surviving are two sons, Thomas, Madison, Wis. and Keith of Howard;
Also surviving are a brother and two sisters, Max H., Bedford, Nancy Hanna, Thomasville, N.C. and Mrs. Peter (Mona) Mottola, Howard.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren; two great-grandsons.
Her brother James preceded her in death.
Services were held Wednesday at Christ Church, Rev. Wayne Sautter officiating.
Interment
was in Unity Cemetery, Lloydsville.

Clarence W. Steele Jr.
Past member of Blairsville Masons, New Alexandria Presbyterian Church
Clarence W. "Junie" Steele Jr., 78, of Reno, Nev., formerly of New Alexandria, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999 at home.
Mr. Steele had lived in Reno for 23 years, where he was a member of St. John's Presbyterian Church. He was a former member of Community United Presbyterian Church, New Alexandria, the Blairsville Masons and Syria Temple, Pittsburgh.
Born Feb. 25, 1921 in New Alexandria, son of the late Clarence W. "Squire" and Emma Kepple Steele.
Survivors include his wife Hazel Crossland Steele; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Peggy) Massaro and Mrs. Mark (Patty) Sredy, both of Reno, and Mrs. Robert (Betty) Leone, Greensburg; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;
Also surviving is his brother Jack of New Alexandria; his sister Mrs. Daniel (Helen) Wentzel, Greensburg; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers William and David, and his sisters Mary Lou Sterrett, Peggy, Dorothy Smith, Fran McDowell and Betty Peoples.
Services were held Monday in Reno.
Memorial donations were suggested to the Masonic Temple or a favorite charity.
Elizabeth B. Thompkins
Member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church and Friday Night Mixed Bowling League
Elizabeth Bankosh Thompkins, 54, of New Alexandria RD 2 died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999 at home.
Mrs. Thompkins was born in Slickville, Westmoreland County on June 30, 1945, daughter of John and Mary Bankosh.
She was a member of St. Sylvester Roman Catholic Church, Slickville, and the Friday Night Mixed Bowling League.
Surviving are her husband Charles; children Cherie Ann, New Alexandria RD 3, Beth Ann, at home and Charles Jr., Greensburg RD 3; brothers John, Slickville, George, Export RD 1, Donald, Derry, Albert, Saltsburg RD 2 and Thomas, Jeannette RD 1; several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, Richard N. and two infants, preceded her in death.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday at St. Sylvester Church by Fr. Raymond E. Riffle.
Interment
was in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.

Charles L. Brown, 92, of Blairsville died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000 at Latrobe Area Hospital. Mr. Brown was a member of Blairsville First United Methodist Church, where he was head usher, AARP and Blairsville Grange, where he was an avid square dancer. He retired from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. Born May 31, 1907 in Blairsville, he was the son of the late Chester and Lottie Brown. Surviving are his daughter Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Ochs, Pittsburgh; grandchildren Ronita White, Waynesburg, Anthony Roy, Bedford, and Tammy Sutton, Zelienople; seven great-grandchildren; his niece Blanche Kebler, Blairsville. His wife Helen Torrance Brown died Sept. 24, 1985. His sister Mary and brother William also preceded him in death. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Blairsville FUMC, Rev. Dean Byrom officiating. Interment

Uniontown native survived by husband, three sisters and nieces and nephews
Anna K. Bureau, 68, of Derry died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000 at Loyalhanna Care Center, Derry Township. Mrs. Bureau, born Oct. 21, 1931 in Uniontown, was the daughter of the late Frank and Katherine Mallnak Rolniak. Survivors include her husband Harry B. "Skippy;" three sisters, Katherine, Margaret and Mary Ann, and several nieces and nephews. Her brothers Joseph and Frank preceded her in death. Calvin Duncan
Self-employed farmer was a member of Blacklick Com. United Methodist Church
Calvin D. Duncan, 75, of Buffington Township died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000 at home. Mr. Duncan, born Feb. 16, 1925 in Buffington Township, Indiana County, was a well-known self-employed farmer who lived his entire life in Indiana County. He was a member of Blacklick Community United Methodist Church, Vintondale. Survivors include his wife Gladys M. Martin Duncan, a brother and sister, Roy G. and Irene M., both of Homer City, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel Webster and Mary Ann "Mollie" Stewart Duncan, his brothers Chester C. and Lester M. and his sisters C. Helen George and Hulda Wagner. Dr. Keith Dovenspike officiated at services Monday in Indiana. Interment
