Barbara ‘Bob’ A. Lambrecht
Barbara “Bob” A. Lambrecht, 65, died Oct. 15, 2003, in Salida.
She was born Feb. 17, 1938, in Lamar, to the late John and Lillian Sell.
She married Julian C. “Slim” Lambrecht on July 9, 1956, in Raton, N.M. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Lambrecht was a house-wife and volunteer at Salida Headstart, where she was known as “Grandma Bob” to many of the children.
She raised five children and two grandchildren in Salida.
Mrs. Lambrecht was a Cub Scout Leader in the 1960s. She loved to take long drives in the mountains and go on picnics.
She is survived by her children, Deborah (Tony) Lamplough, Fountain; Daniel (Cindy) Lambrecht, Cañon City; David (Kathy) Lambrecht, Wyoming; Donald Lambrecht, Horseshoe, N.C. and Donna Lambrecht, Salida; grandchildren, Jay and Julianna of the family home; Ben, Doug and Carl Giem, Jolene, Shannon, Lillian, Donald Jr., Julian and Janelle; great-grandchildren, Benito, Trevor, Tyler and Mya; sister, Rosemary (Sam) Potter; bro-ther, John (Wanda) Sell and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the family home, 6792 CR 105 in Salida.

Cremation was through Holt Family Funeral Home, Cañon City.
Dale G. Reekers
Dale G. Reekers, 72, former Salida resident, died Oct. 25, 2003, at St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo.
He was born March 17, 1931, in Salida to William David and Mabel (Robinson) Reekers.
Mr. Reekers served his country in the Korean War.
He was a member of Salida Elks Lodge No. 808, the Salida Golf Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Reekers enjoyed hunting and fishing. He worked for many years for Butala Construction.
Mr. Reekers was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by wife, Karol Reekers, Pueblo; sons, David Reekers, Salida and Jefre Reekers; daughters, Kelly Cavanagh, Grand Junction and Martha Ropp, Cañon City and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial services are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Salida Church of The Ascension.

Joyce Lynn Matthies
Joyce Lynn Matthies, 56, died Oct. 26, 2003 in Cheyenne, Wyo.
She was a 35-year Salida resident. Mrs. Matthies was born March 14, 1947, in Denver. She was a banker.
She married Kenneth J. Matthies May 31, 1996, in Golden.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jane Ruckman.
Mrs. Matthies is survived by her husband, Kenneth J. Matthies, Cheyenne, Wyo.; sons, Troy Myer and wife, Suzanne, Bertram, Texas; stepson, Larry Matthies, Warren, Ohio; daughter, Steffanie Gonzales and husband, Troy, Harrisonburg, Va.; father, Dale White Sr., Moore, Okla.; brother, Dale White Jr., Yukon, Okla.; sister, Sharon Thompson, Edmund, Okla.; grandchildren, Jessica and Jacob Myer, Bertram, Texas; Courtney, Tiffany and Anthony Gonzales, Harrisonburg, Va. and step-grandchildren, Kayla and Kelsie Matthies, Warren, Ohio.
Cremation has taken place and was conducted by Schrader’s Sunset Park Crematory.
A memorial service, officiated by Minister Walt Smith, will be held at 10 a.m. Wed-nesday at Community of Christ Church, 3525 McCann Ave., Cheyenne, Wyo.

Catherine Louise Field
Catherine Louise (Beauregard) Field, 86, died Oct. 19, 2003, at Sonora Hospital in Sonora, Calif.
She was born Feb. 12, 1917, in Fort Collins and was one of nine children born to Thomas E. and Dora Alway.
A former resident of Salida, she graduated from Salida High School in 1935. After graduation she moved to Buena Vista with her parents where they worked the Chicago Ranch.
She worked at Mear’s Bakery and it was in Buena Vista she met her first husband, Zephere Beauregard. Catherine and Zephere moved to Roseville, Calif., where they raised two sons.
She worked as a secretary for the Los Angeles Unified and the Santa Monica Unified school districts.
In 1976, she moved to Tuo-lumne County, Calif., where she worked in the patient business office at Sonora Community Hospital until her retirement.
In 1985, she met and married her second husband, Elmo Field.
Mrs. Field is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, And-rew and Susan Beauregard, Sonora, Calif.; granddaughter, Stacey Beauregard, Exeter, England; sister-in-law Alice Alway, Moffat and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Zephere Beauregard, in 1960; son, Clifford Beauregard, in 1989; parents, Thomas E. Alway and Dora Alway; brothers, Lester E. Alway, Jack Alway, Richard Alway and Delbert Alway; sisters, Lois Campbell, Dorothy Noble, Bernice Thompkins and her second husband, Elmo Field, in 1997.
Dean Roger Salisbury
Dean Roger Salisbury, 82, of Elizabeth, former first Mayor of Parker, died Oct. 18, 2003, at the Hospice of Metro Denver in Aurora.
Mr. Salisbury was born Oct. 16, 1921, in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of William and Eva (Winslow) Salisbury.
He served in the Marine Corps during World War II and was a veteran of the Pacific campaign.
Mr. Salisbury married Marilyn Mieger Dec. 5, 1964, in Denver.
He graduated from Metro State College with a bachelor’s degree in human services.
An avid horseman, he raised and showed Morgan horses during the 1980s.
Mr. Salisbury launched an improbable political career lasting until 1988 that focused on solving the basic needs of Parker, a new community.
He was appointed mayor in April 1981 with the goal of providing water and sewer service to incorporated areas and preserving the small town atmosphere residents enjoyed.
In addition to his tenure as Parker’s mayor, his contributions to the county include founding the Douglas County Economic Development Council, Douglas County Alcohol and Drug Council and Cherry Creek Basin Authority.
Other honors include being named Citizen of the Year by the Parker Chamber of Commerce and Douglas-Elbert Board of Realtors.
Mr. Salisbury helped establish what he considered the largest parade of its kind, the Parker Christmas Carriage Parade, growing each year to become an annual tradition in the Town of Parker.
In 1992, Salisbury was honored by Parker Mayor Greg Lopez on behalf of the town, when Salisbury Equestrian Park on Mostenbocker Road was dedicated.
Mr. Salisbury was preceded in death by brother, Royce Salisbury.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn and son, Timothy Salisbury, Salida and grandchildren, Erin and Brian.
Memorial services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Christ Episcopal Church in Castle Rock. Fr. Rick Meyers will officiate, with Military Honors by the United States Marine Corps.
Cremation was held, with private interment
to be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

Vera Margaret West
Vera Margaret West, 77, Poncha Springs, died Oct. 28, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. West was born Oct. 19, 1926, in Beggs, Okla., to Charles and Maude (Mercer) Gonseth.
She married Charles West April 8, 1946, in Wichita, Kan.
Mrs. West was a resident of the Salida area since 1961.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. West is survived by her daughter, Beverly Ann (Louie) Fish, Poncha Springs; sisters, Pearl Dowland, Beggs, Okla.; Gladys Culbert, Beggs, Okla. and Hazel Laffoon, Tulsa, Okla.; grandchildren, Ralph C. (Ricki) Fish, Poncha Springs and Louie F. (Flor) Fish Jr., Land O’ Lakes, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Ralph Fish Jr., Poncha Springs; Kristina Fish, Poncha Springs; Erika and Janet Fish, Land O’ Lakes, Fla. and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles West; brother, Clarence Gonseth and sisters, Violet Gonseth and Opal Gentry.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Wilma Elizabeth Slaughter
Wilma Elizabeth Slaughter of Tempe, Ariz., died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, at Friendship Village Care Center at age 88.
Mrs. Slaughter was born Wilma Elizabeth Hewit on May 18, 1915, in Gary, Ind. She was a 1937 graduate of Franklin College in Franklin, Ind., and married Robert E. Slaughter on Sept. 2, 1938, in Hammond, Ind.
After Bob graduated from Colgate Rochester Divinity School, she traveled with him to ministerial posts in Cleveland, Ohio (1940-51); Minneapolis, Minn. (1951-54), Rochester, N.Y. (1954-59); Arlington, Mass. (1959-67); Worcester, Mass. (1967-68) and Cincinnati, Ohio (1968-80).
Mrs. Slaughter, or “Willie” as she preferred to be called, was intimately involved in church work: singing in church choirs, leading Christian women’s groups and, a particular passion of hers, teaching young couples to budget their money.
In 1980, the couple retired and moved to Arizona.
Mrs. Slaughter was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, in 2000.
Surviving are sons Ronald (Carol) Slaughter of Salida and Raymond (Kim) Slaughter of Golden; and grandchildren Alison (Eric) Newcomer, Kayt (Jeremy) Pourbaix, Rachael and Jessica Slaughter.
A memorial service is set for 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Friendship Village, Tempe, Ariz.
Gertrude Joy Thompson
Gertrude Joy Thompson died Aug. 29, 2003, in Cincinnati Ohio, with her husband, Warren, at her bedside.
She was born to Isabella and Linius Rogers on Jan. 20, 1926, in Houston, Texas.
She married Warren Thompson in 1944 and they would have celebrated their 59th anniversary in November.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband, Warren and their children, Jim (Stephanie), Buena Vista and Suzanne, Cincinnati, Ohio; a cousin and sister-in-law, both in Louisiana and a niece in Texas.
She was preceded in death by a son, Barry, in 1998; her parents and her brother, Ozzie.
She has three grandsons from her son, Barry, and his wife, Susie: Christopher, Kenny and Mark and a grandson and the only granddaughter from her daughter, Suzanne: Jordan and Kayla.
Mr. and Mrs. Thompson lived in Houston and later moved to Midland, Texas.
Mrs. Thompson was actively involved in the Cat Fanciers Association for almost 50 years. She bred Persian cats, Russian Blues and Scottish Folds. She enjoyed cooking.
Mr. and Mrs. Thompson moved to Buena Vista in 1987 and had a home built in the first filings of the Game Trail Subdivision, north of Buena Vista.
She was involved in the 55 Alive program, the American Association of Retired Persons, agricultural commodities program, was a eucharistic minister at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Buena Vista and was active in the Democratic Party.
She had many friends in Chaffee County and was very fond of her friend and physician, Dr. Mary Reeves.
No local services are planned and a memorial service will be held later in Houston, Texas.
Louise E. Hitchcock
Louise E. Hitchcock, 77, Salida, died Sept. 1, 2003, at Col-umbine Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Nov. 26, 1925, in Arlington, Mass., to William and Edna (Wilson) Crocker.
Mrs. Hitchcock was the owner of Crocker Sales in Cambridge, Mass., for many years and was an accountant.
She served her country in the Navy from 1950-1952.
She loved to read, travel and spend time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Hitchcock was preceded in death by her son, Jonathan Colbert.
She is survived by her son, Philip (Raye) Colbert, Salida; brother, Wilbur Crocker, Melbourne, Fla.; sister, Mildred Wallace, Naples, Fla. and grandchildren, Rebecca and Kate Colbert, both of Salida.
A memorial service is planned later in Ipswich, Mass.

James J. Buck Sr.
James J. Buck Sr., 69, Salida, died Sept. 2, 2003, in Salida.
Mr. Buck was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Chicago, Ill., to Paul and Mona Buck Sr. He was a resident of Salida since 1987.
His interests included building model trains and remote control airplanes, and he enjoyed the mountains. Mr. Buck was also known for his handyman skills with carpentry and plumbing.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Mr. Buck is survived by his son, James J. (Terri) Buck Jr., Salida; daughters, Mary Anne (Roy) Perry, Lindsay, Okla.; Karen (Steve) Tolleson, Lemon Grove, Calif. and Theresa “Terry” Hussey, Sealy, Texas; brothers, Paul (Helen) Buck Jr., Chicago, Ill. and Tommy (Gail) Buck, Roswell, N.M.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his good friend and companion, Cleo Stephens, Salida.
Mr. Buck was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Theresa Buck and a daughter, Kathleen T. Morris.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery.

Marge Salerno
Marge Salerno, 78, born July 21, 1925, died Sept. 4, 2003.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony J. Salerno.
Mrs. Salerno is survived by her son, Tony L. Salerno, Pueblo; daughter, Kathy (John) Mulay, Kalamazoo, Mich.; grandchildren, Brian Mulay, New York and Denene Mulay Koch and Jeremy Koch of New Jersey; great-grandchild, Jason Mulay Koch; brothers and sisters, Fred (Alvina) Linza, Salida; Dominic (Catherine) Linza, Grand Junction; Ernest (Melvina) Linza, Salida; Frances (Stewart) Smith, Pueblo; Pete (Sharon) Salerno, Salida; Lucy (Joe) DeLuca, Salida and Clara (Alvin) Davidson of Idaho and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Karla Cordova, Kay Freeman, Carrie Robinson and Deacon John Wertz, all of the Sangre de Cristo Hospice.
Mrs. Salerno’s family is grateful for their caring and spiritual guidance.
She is also survived by special neighbors who she considered family, Jim and Julie Cline, Delores Bradley and Donna Rhoades, who were with her daily to help carry the burden of her final days.
At her request, cremation has taken place.

Joseph Isaac ‘George’ Luna
Joseph Isaac “George” Luna, 74, died Sept. 5, 2003, of natural causes at Portneuf Medical Center, Pocatello, Idaho.
He was born Oct. 22, 1928, in Lake City, to Ben and Ruth Luna.
Mr. Luna served in the Army from 1946-1949.
He married Louise Martinez in Elko, Nev. They moved to Pocatello, Idaho in 1956.
Mr. Luna worked as a superintendent for the National Laundry for many years and later worked at Bannock Memorial Hospital as a maintenance man.
He enjoyed singing, traveling, making people laugh and crafts of all kinds. He loved building his cabin on the Arkansas River. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends that he made throughout the years.
Mr. Luna was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ben and Ruth Luna; sisters, Burley Luna and Roseanne Luna and brothers, Albert Luna, Charles Luna and John Luna.
He is survived by his children, Dean (ReNae) Paquette, American Falls, Idaho; Vicki (Frank) Mousely, Appleton, Wisc.; Georgia (Richard) Hernandez, Pocatello, Idaho and Corine (John) Jones, Fairfield, Calif.; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and by his sisters, Virginia (Tony) Vigil, Salida, Mildred (Paul) Hewitt, Salida, Christina (Butch) Leitch, Armadale, western Australia and Dorothy (Mike) Maikowskij, Marysville, Wash. and a brother, Ernie (Sylvia) Luna, Salida
The family will greet friends and family at 2 p.m. today at Downard Hanson Funeral Home, Pocatello, Idaho.
Burial will be in Salida at a later date.
Clarence Edward Macnab
Clarence Edward Macnab, 94, Iowa Falls, Iowa, died Sept. 17, 2003, at Hubbard Care Center, Hubbard, Iowa.
Mr. Macnab was born Nov. 24, 1908, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of Frank R. and Annie (Palmer) Macnab.
He graduated from Wilkinsburg (Pa.) High School with the class of 1926. He attended business school, receiving his accounting certificate.
He was a tax accountant with Westinghouse Electric in Pittsburgh before retiring in 1968. He and his wife moved to Iowa Falls, Iowa, in 1986.
Survivors include his son, Dave (Elaine) Macnab, Salida; grandchildren, Ruth (Gary) Long, Salida; Ernest (Beth) Macnab, Nathrop; Daniel Macnab, Salida and four great grandchildren, Alana, Alisa, Colin and Chase Macnab of Nathrop.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Linn’s Funeral Home Iowa Falls Chapel. Burial will be at the Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls.
Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Friday at Linn’s Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Ave., Iowa Falls, Iowa, with the family receiving friends between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to Darren Patterson Christian Academy in Buena Vista or to the Grainery Ministries in Salida.
