Lola Gadeken
Lola Gadeken, 89, of Bushnell, Neb., died on Sunday, July 4, 2004 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 9, 2004 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastors Virgil Johnson and Richard Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Kimball Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 8 PM on Thursday, July 8. If friends wish, memorial gifts may be given to the Nebraska Commission for the Visually Impaired. Cantrell Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
Lola was born on August 15, 1914 in Bushnell to Charles and May Beatrice (Eisele) Evertson. She graduated from Bushnell High School in 1933. On June 1, 1938 Arnold William Gadeken and she were united in marriage in Sidney, Neb. Together they traveled the area while he was an extension agent. She assisted him by running 4-H clubs, particularly when they lived in Banner County. Later, her husband was stationed at Ft. Dix, N.J. where he was an Ordinance First Lieutenant. During his service overseas; Lola sewed leather bomber jackets for the war effort. During the war, she returned to Nebraska and enrolled in Capital Beauty School in Omaha, graduating in 1945. They later lived at Bull Canyon Ranch, where Arnold was a foreman, moving in 1953 to his family’s farm at Bushnell and, in 1974, relocatinh to her father’s farm.
Mrs. Gadeken was very knowledgeable of area history and enjoyed sharing this with others. She was a member of Golden Sheaf Rebekah Lodge #380 and held various offices including Noble Grand. She belonged to the Calvary United Methodist Church of Bushnell, First Baptist Church of Kimball, and later the Dix Bible Church where she taught many classes in Sunday school. Lola was active in various community clubs and organizations.
Lola is survived by her son John of Bushnell, two sisters in law, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold on January 30, 1997.
Lois Romsa
Lois Romsa , 92, of Albin, Wo., died Thursday, June 17, 2004 at Kimball County Manor.
She was born Feb. 8, 1912 in Cheyenne, Wyo., was a farmer and attended Golden Prairie Baptist Church.
Memorial Services were June 29 at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes in Cheyenne, Wyo., with Jim Brown officiating.
Friends who wish may contribute to Kimball County Manor or Golden Prairie Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Howard and Mary Kay Romsa of Albin and Harold Romsa of Casper, Wyo., seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Hogan Romsa in 1990, and her parents, Charles and Bernice Kamerer, preceded her in death.
Adam Michael Jones
Adam Michael Jones infant son of MinDee Humphries and John Paul Jones of Kimball died on Sunday, June 27, 2004 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 2, 2004 at the Bushnell Cemetery. Cantrell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Adam is survived by his parents, maternal grandmother Ebbi Humphries of Bushnell, paternal grandmother Dorothy Shelburne of Kimball; great grandfather Burton Humphries of Kansas, aunts Sandra Vrba, Janice Henton, and Debra Schadagg all of Kimball, Samantha Humphries of Bushnell, Bonnie Isaacs of Missouri; and uncles John Humphries of Bushnell and Larry Shepherd of Cheyenne, Wyo. Numerous other relatives also survive.
LeRoy E. ‘June’ Childers
LeRoy Ernest ‘June’ Childers, 78, a longtime Cheyenne County and Panhandle resident, died Wed., June 23, 2004 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 Sat. morning, June 26th at the First United Methodist Church in Sidney with Rev. Roger Gillming of Kimball officiating. Burial will follow in the Kimball Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 am to 7 pm on Friday. The family has designated the Sidney Public Library Audio Book Program or Building Fund or the American Heart Asso. as the memorials.
LeRoy Ernest Childers was born Jan. 26, 1926 at Nelson, Nebr., the son of Roy and Lillie Mae (Statz) Childers. He grew up on a ranch North of Potter and was raised by his mother and step-father John I. Filer. He attended school in Kimball and received his Honorary High School Diploma in May, 2000 from Kimball High School as part of the United States Department of Education's Honorary Degree Program. June enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Sept. 4, 1943 and served in WW II on LST 461 during the Philippine Liberation and received the following decorations; Asiatic-Pacific Theatre with 4 Stars, Victory Medal, American Campaign and Good Conduct medal. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 8, 1947. Upon returning to Kimball, he met and married loan E. Vavra on June 5, 1949. LeRoy and Ioan made their home in the Sidney Draw area raising crops, cattle and kids. They celebrated 55 years of marriage on June 5, 2004. LeRoy was a lifetime member of VFW Post #610. He was also a member of Sidney Elks Lodge #1894, Lodgepole Valley Saddle Club and served on School District 36 Board of Education for several terms and was always available to assist with 4-H horse projects. LeRoy was a loved and respected son, husband, father, uncle and friend. He enjoyed his horses, woodworking and learned to fix and repair almost everything. He loved his farm and family and rejoiced in every occasion for family celebration from holidays, anniversaries, weddings and the birth of new babies, both 2 and 4 legged. June also enjoyed gardening, reading, hot tubbing, fishing and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. From their first dance to his last long ride home 'June and Onie' created a legacy of love, honor and commitment. June was a quiet man who led by example and could always be counted on to do the right thing. He was aIways willing to lend a helping hand, give a word of praise and offer a hug for those in need. He believed a man's word was good and a handshake sealed the deal.
He will be greatly missed by his wife loan; his children, Kenneth and Jeri Childers of Sidney, Korla and Tom Keller of Bassett, Nebr., James and Kris Childers of Alliance, Michael & Julie Childers of Lakewood, Colo., Brian Childers of Cheyenne, Wyo., Phillip and Wendy Childers of Gurley, Nebr. and Coleda and Steven Schwaller of Lincoln, Nebr. his grandchildren Jeff and Donna Maddox, Jarrod and Kelli Maddox, Tom and Lisa Keller, Todd and Kerry Keller, Crystal and Alan Stegall, Amy and Brandon Sodon, James and Katie Childers, Casey Childers, Jordy Childers, Jacob Childers, Cody Childers and Max Childers; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Irene Nelson and husband Leland of Bushnell, Nebr.; brother-in-law Larry Vavra and wife Toni of Kimball; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie and John Filer, brothers, Max and Keith Childers, sister Maxine Taylor, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed and Betty Robinson.

Sharon Kramer
Sharon A. Kramer, 57, of Pine Bluffs, Wyo., died Friday, June 25, 2004 at United Medical Center-West.
She was born October 3, 1946 in Newman Grove, Neb. and had lived in Pine Bluffs for 20 years.
Mrs. Kramer was a clerk at the Texas Trail Market for four years. She was a member of Pine Bluffs United Methodist church.
She is survived by two sons, Daryn Triston Kramer of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Cory Kramer of Pine bluffs; a daughter, Cheryl Kramer of Cheyenne, and one grandchild, Jenna Kramer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Kramer in 1982; her parents Glenn and Avis Koenig, and a brother, Kenneth Koenig.
Services were held June 30, 2004 at Pine Bluffs Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeffery Babb officiating. Interment
was in Pine Bluffs Cemetery.
Services were under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes in Cheyenne.
Robert H. Midgley
Robert “Bob” Hero Midgley, 82, of Kimball walked through the birth-gate of death, surrounded with love from around the world, on Saturday, June, 26, 2004. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Tues., July 6, at the Cantrell Funeral Home. Internment of the cremated remains will be in Pinedale, Wyo., overlooking the mountains that remain his spiritual home.
Memorials may be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center, Habitat for Humanity, Lions Sight First, or by doing a “random act of kindness each day.” Cantrell Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
Bob was born on October 10, 1921 in Worcester, Mass. to Frank and Marion (Hero) Midgley. With his family's support, he completed studies at Northeastern University. He continued his education at Andover Newton Theological Seminary from 1944-47.
During a summer ministry in Pinedale in 1944, Bob fell in love with Lois Arlene Rosendahl. They were married on September 4, 1945. These “two kids from the country” served churches in Green River, Wyo., Vermillion, S.D., Milwaukee and Madison, Wis., Rockford, Ill. and Honolulu, Hawaii. In 1959, a short-term ministry in Hamasaka, Japan added new dimension to his service. He returned to the U.S. deeply impacted by the people he had met and a visit to Hiroshima. It was his firm belief that we are all responsible to share love and heal the pain of the earth through a “ministry to the world and a Christian concern for other.” He put this belief into action as he served on the United Church of Christ Board for World Ministries and in his travels to Turkey, England and New Zealand. His words inspired many who followed his example.
In 1989, Bob and Lois moved to Kimball to care for her aging mother. They loved the western Nebraska country and retired here.
Bob touched many lives as he lived his belief that it is the responsibility of every citizen to give back in positive ways “as the rent you pay to live in the community.”
He served on the Kimball County Manor Board, and was an active member of the Lions Club with special interest in Sight First, Student of the Month scholarships, and the quarterly blood drive.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Leonard, and eldest daughter Janet.
Bob was graced with daughters Janet Marquardt, Joan Frances and Ann Frost; son-in-law, Jon Marquardt; six grandchildren: Jeff and his wife Paula Evans of Calgary AB, Sara Evans of Worcester, Mass., Kevin and his wife Colleen Marquardt of Comfort Texas, Jennifer and her husband Robert Smith of Maxwell, Texas, Libby Frost and Grant Frost of Red Wing, Minn.; three great grandchildren: Joshua, Alexandra Evan and Dustin “Dusty” Smith.
Ida M. Andrews
Ida Mildred Andrews, 91, formerly of Kimball, passed away at Scottsdale (Ariz.) Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, June 16, 2004. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 25, 2004 at the Oak Street Baptist Church in Kimball. Pastors Don Mathis and Sean Eddy will officiate. Interment

Ida was born on June 6, 1913 in Harrisburg, Neb. to Emil and Annie (Olsen) Johnson. She married Saron P. Andrews on June 2, 1935 and they lived in Kimball until 1960 when they bought the Mountain View Farm in Hawk Springs, Wyo. Ida farmed and ranched, was an active member of the Hawk Springs Extension Club, the local church for 43 years, and she had been a member of the Eastern Star before moving to Scottsdale, Ariz. on January 1, 2003.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Emily Joy Twist of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; son Saron Andrews, Jr. of Kimball; sisters Lavina Miller of Security, Colo. and Inez Hayes of Chillicothe, Ill; brother Virgil Johnson of Redondo Beach, Calif.; 13 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and many wonderful friends.
Mrs. Andrews was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Saron; two daughters: Sara West and Idabell Christensen; four sisters and five brothers, a granddaughter Christie Lee West, and a grandson Saron P. Andrews III.
Lula Gram
Lula Ethel Gram, 91 of Kimball died at her home on Saturday, June 12, 2004. Funeral Services were held June 15, 2004 at the Kimball Presbyterian Church. Pastor Alan Foutz officiated. Interment
was in the Kimball Cemetery. Visitation was Monday at the funeral home. Lula’s request was that in lieu of flowers memorial gifts be made to the Kimball Presbyterian Church or to Prairie Haven Hospice. The Cantrell Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Lula was born June 1, 1913 on a farm near Palmer, Neb., a daughter of Earl and Ethel (Weber) Ross. She attended rural schools in that area and graduated from Palmer High School in 1929. She attended Kearney State Teachers College and Colorado State Teachers College in Greeley Colo. She taught in rural schools in Merrick, Howard, and Kimball counties.
On December 20, 1939 she married Holger Gram. They lived on a farm northeast of Kimball until moving into town in 1994. Her husband died on February 27, 1999.
Lula was a member of the Kimball Presbyterian Church where she was very active with the Sunday school program, the Session, Presbytery, and the Women’s Association. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and taking part in various craft shows. She was a “homemade person” and spent many hours crafting clothes and quilts and making bread and noodles.
She is survived by two sons: Danny and wife Diane Gram of Vermont, and Gordon and wife Carmen Gram of Grand Junction, Colo.; a daughter, Bonnie Kovatch of Denver; three grandchildren: Jessica and husband Greg Overturf, Alex and wife Lynne Kovatch, and Engel and husband John Polousky; two step-granddaughters, Susan Rector and Christine Knowlden; two great granddaughters and two great step-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother Lyle Ross, a son-in-law Al Kovatch, and a daughter-in-law Cathi Gram.
Del Kiser
Delbert Eugene Kiser, 83, of Loveland, Colo., died June 13, 2004, in Loveland. He is a former Kimball resident.
He was born on March 25, 1921, in Missouri. He graduated from Windsor (Colo.) High School in 1939. He married Maxine Belk in Windsor Dec. 12, 1941. She died on March 14, 1989.
He served in the US Army during WWII. After his discharge, they moved to Greeley, Colo., and then moved to Kimball, Neb., where he and his wife owned and operated Kimball Clothing Co. They lived in Kimball for 12 years and moved to Hayes, Kan. In 1965, they moved back to Greeley where he worked at Hibbs for 22 years, where he retired.
On Sept. 13, 1999, he married Marjorie Kirby in Loveland. He moved to Loveland four years ago.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Greeley, but most recently he attended the All Saints Episcopal Church in Loveland.
Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Kiser of Loveland, son, Dean E. Kirby of West-minster, Colo., daughters, Regene Ann McCain of Thornton, Colo., and Kathy Nelson of Norwood, Colo., and a brother, Virgil Kiser of Greeley. Also surviving are six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
His parents, R.O. Kiser and Grace Whitmore Kiser pre-ceded him in death, as did a son, Steven Kiser and a sister, Marjorie Sauter.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday (today) at Sunset Memorial Gardens; a memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at All Saints Episcopal Church in Loveland. J. Frances Sumner
Julia Frances Sumner, 90, of Kimball, died at the Kimball County Manor on Friday, October 1, 2004. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at the chapel of the Kimball Manor. Pastor Roger Gillming will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kimball Cemetery. She was born July 14, 1914 on the family homestead at Sidney Draw, (south of Sidney NE), a daughter of Edward A. and Blanche (Hyatt) Selover. Mr. Selover had several relatives who arrived in America aboard the Mayflower. Francis graduated from the Kimball County High School and taught for a time at the one room school in District 25. She married Robert E. Sumner on December 27, 1938 in Denver, Colo. The couple moved to Hemingford in 1946 where they owned and operated a Gamble’s store. In 1950 they moved to Scottsbluff where they lived for many years. They also lived in Sidney, North Platte, and Denver before returning to live in Kimball in 1976.
Mrs. Sumner was a member of Trinity Methodist Church and was very active with the Kimball Sr. Friendship Center. She especially enjoyed quilting with the other Center members. She was a charter member of the South Divide Extension Club. She was also a licensed cosmetologist and at one time operated a business out of her home.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet and husband Fred Gerhardt of Kingston, Mich. and Judy and husband Dan Gudahl of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son, Edward Sumner of Denver, Colo.; a sister Helen Grubb, a lifelong resident of Kimball now living in Portland, Ore.; a brother, Marion Selover of Payette, Idaho; nine grandchildren, Kristian, Jenille, Karen, Alice, Sarah, Robert Edward, Dena D., Robert Payne-Sumner, and Brian; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert on October 22, 1998, a sister, Maxine Sohus, grandson Aaron Gundahl and daughter-in-law Linda Sumner.
Naomi Lowman
Naomi Yolanda Lowman, 71, of Cody, Wyo., formerly of Kimball, died on September 26, 2004 after a 32 year battle with cancer.
Naomi was born August 28, 1933, in Kimball, Neb., the daughter of Clifford and Elvira Allchin. She was baptized into the Christian faith Jan. 27, 1935, and was confirmed in her baptism vow and faith at the Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, Wash. in July, 1958.
Her family moved to Lamar, Mo., where she graduated from Lamar High School in 1951. She married her high school sweetheart, John Allison Lowman, on May 27, 1951 in the Methodist Church. They moved back to her home town of Kimball, Neb. and lived there from August 1951-1955. They later lived in Washington, Mitchell, Neb., and various towns in Wyoming.
Naomi loved to work in her garden, camping, fishing, reading, working with her many crafts, cooking for family and friends, and was always willing to give a helping hand. She had a deep devotion to her faith and was never short on love for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a "Camp Fire Girls" leader, a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, secretary of the Voters' Association of Our Savior Lutheran Church, a bus driver in Wyoming, and a nurse aide in Torrington, Wyo., and Scottsbluff, Neb. She worked as a food nutritionist for the University of Wyoming. She belonged to Garden Clubs in Wyoming and was a lifetime member of the VFW. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Cody.
Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford John and Elvira Mae Allchin; sisters Helen Vercimak, Dorothy Wilcox, Ruth Matalainen, and Alberta Pilcher; a daughter, Debra Jean Kissel; and a grandson, Jeremiah John Spitzer.
She is survived by her husband, John Allison Lowman, a sister, Joyce (Walt) Witt of Kimball, Neb., children Katherine (Dale) Englund of Cody, Wyo., Dana (Dave) Breeden of Ft. Laramie, Wyo., John C. Lowman of Casper Wyo., and Cheryl (Terry) Lapp of Torrington, Wyo; grandchildren, Nathan (Tine) Spitzer, Joanna and Christina Kissel, Denise (Jim) Canipe, Bobby (Nida) Breeden, Aaron K. Lowman, Chastity Lapp, Michelle (Scott) Hashman, and Angela (Jimmy) Brothwell; eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dennis Staehr
The brother of Keith (Cynthe) Staehr of Kimball, Dennis Henry Staehr, age 65, York, Neb., died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004 as a result of an automobile accident south of Waco, Neb. He was born Jan. 26, 1939 at Waco, to Alfred and Grace (Dey) Staehr. He was baptized on Feb. 10, 1939.
Dennis is survived by his wife, 3 sons, 4 grandsons, 7 brothers, 3 sisters, many nieces and nephews, his mother-in-law and brother-in-law .
Preceding him in death were his parents, 2 sisters, father-in-law, 2 brothers-in-laws, and a nephew.
Dorothy Hilkemeier
Dorothy O. Hilkemeier, 88, of Kimball died at the Kimball County Manor on Sat., October 2, 2004.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thurs., Oct. 7 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. astor Bradley Heinecke and Vicar Earl Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kimball Cemetery.

Dorothy was born on Dec. 20, 1915 in Butka, Neb. to Ernest and Susan (Hieter) Schroder. She attended school through the 8th grade at O’Neill, before transferring and graduating high school in Atkinson, Neb..
On Nov. 22, 1933 she was joined in marriage to Fred W. Hilkemeier in Butka. They moved to Stewart, Neb. and then to Kimball in 1946 where she lived in the same house until moving to the manor in August 2000.
Mr. Hilkemeier was a mechanic and Dorothy operated a Daycare in her home for many families in Kimball. She also cooked for Purd Moul at his restaurant.
Mrs. Hilkemeier was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she and her husband were very active, and a member of the Ladies Aid.
She is survived by three sons Virgil and wife Barbara Hilkemeier of Moorcroft, Wyo., Donald and wife Joan Hilkemeier of Kimball, and Lyle and wife Anita Hilkemeier of Colorado Springs, Colo; daughter Margery and husband Carl Higdon of Marble Falls, Tex; 15 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband in Dec. 28, 1989; her parents; three brothers and one grandson.
Danny Wilson
Danny Wilson, age 59, of Aurora, Neb., formerly of Kimball, died Sunday, September 26, 2004, at his home.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, Sept. 30 at the Evangelical Free Church in Aurora. Rev. Vance Christie will officiate. Interment

Danny Joe Wilson, the son of Harry and Lorabelle (Morfeld) Wilson, was born in Kimball, Neb. on December 22, 1944 and died in Aurora, Neb. on Sept. 26, 2004, at the age of 59.
He grew up in Kimball and graduated from Kimball High School. Danny served in Vietnam in the Navy from May 1965 to May l971 when he was honorably discharged.
On June 17, 1972, he was united in marriage to Katherine Louise Exum at Kimball. They moved to Alda and then settled in Aurora. Manny worked as a diesel mechanic for Roy Evans and Montgomery Wards. In June of 1974, he went to work at New Holland in Grand Island. Danny worked there for 25 years until his health forced him to retire in January 2000.
Danny was a friend of the Aurora Evangelical Free Church. He was an avid football fan and loved to watch the Kansas City Chiefs most of all. Danny loved to watch his son-in-law in Figure 8 racing, and when he was able, loved to help in the pits. He liked hunting and camping. Danny really enJoyed his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, brother Duane Wilson, and grandson, Eric Steven Wilson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Kathy Wilson of Aurora; two children, Dawn (Heath) Enderle of Aurora and Jason (JoAnn) Wilson of lowa Falls, lowa; mother, Lorabelle Burry of Buckeye, Ariz., and three grandchildren, Heath Eugene, Jr., Hanah Dawn and Cadance Dannyelle, all of Aurora. He is also survived by two sisters, Harriet Bro and Katherine Burry, and a brother, Bob Wilson, all of Arizona.
Bruce D. Juelfs
Bruce D. Juelfs – 78 years old passed away September 24th, 2004 in Mesa, Arizona. He was born September 14th, 1926 on a farm north of Potter to Lloyd and Doris Juelfs. After serving in the Navy, Bruce raised his family and was the owner / operator of Juelfs Grain Company in Potter, Nebraska for 28 years. Bruce leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Charlyne (Krueger); daughters Cindy and husband Gregg Seebohm, Dianne and husband Walker Everson, Cathy and husband Steve Knutsen, and son Bruce Juelfs Jr. and wife Shielah. His eight grandchildren will cherish the lessons they learned from him because of his love. A private family service was held.
Ty Richard Brandt
Ty Richard Brandt, 13, of Scottsbluff, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at Children's Hospital in Denver. Gene and Pat Dowd of Kimball, are grandparents. A memorial service was held Wednesday, Sept. 29, at West Way Christian Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Willie Coop officiating. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory.

Ty was born April 24, 1991 In Scottsbluff, to Scott and Coni (Dowd) Brandt. He received his education in Scottsbluff schools and was currently an eighth grader at Bluff's Middle School. He was active in choir, basketball, football, soccer, and track and area youth groups.
Ty is survived by his parents; brother, Tanner of the home; and his grandparents, Gene and Pat Dowd of Kimball.
His paternal grandparents, Richard and Bette Brandt, preceded him in death.
Carol Sigette
Carol D.. Sigette, 61, of Kimball, died at Kimball Health Services on September 15, 2004 as a result of injuries sustained in an accident. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19 at First English Lutheran Church in Kimball. Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker will officiate. Cremation will take place and burial will be in North Dakota at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made in Carol’s memory to the Kimball Senior Friendship Center or First English Lutheran Church. The Cantrell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born July 29, 1943 in Grafton, N.D., the only daughter of Chester and Irene (Westberg) Myrvik. She graduated school at Lankin and attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks. She and Bruce Sigette were united in marriage July 17, 1964 in Lankin. Carol and Bruce had one child, a daughter, Michelle. They later moved to Kimball in May of 1971.
Carol was a member of First English Lutheran Church of Kimball. She belonged to the Kimball Sr. Friendship Center and to a Bible Study Group in the community, and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Carol and Bruce belonged to the Y-all Come Motorcycle Club and were former members of the Jaycees.
Carol loved her family very much. She e specially enjoyed the recent visit over Labor Day weekend with granddaughter Brittany and greatgrandson Braydon. She had not had the opportunity to see her new great granddaughter Jaidyn in person. They were planning a trip out there in October.
She is survived by her husband Bruce, daughter Michelle and her husband Kevin Bridgewater of Meridian, Idaho; two granddaughters Brittany and husband Konrad Swartz of Nampa, Idaho, and Jessica and husband Adam Green of Dugway, Utah, and a great grandson, Braydon Swartz and great granddaughter Jaidyn Green; aunts Maxine (Nick) Sveen, Evonne Skyrud, and serveral nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Alta "Toots" Shoup
Alta Shoup, 92, of Kimball died at the Kimball County Manor on Thurs., Sept. 9, 2004. Funeral Services were Sept. 11, at the Calvary United Methodist Church of Bushnell. The Reverend Roger Gillming officiated. Burial was in the Kimball Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alta Shoup Memorial Fund. Cantrell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Alta Verna Shoup was born August 8, 1912 in Wolbach, Neb. to Jacob and Mattie (Rother) James. She attended school in Oconto and Callaway, Neb. After graduating from Kearney State College, Alta taught school in Custer County.
On June 12, 1937 she was united in marriage to Claud Shoup in Alliance. They farmed in Custer County and moved south of Bushnell in 1941 where they farmed until Claud’s death in 1978. Alta then moved into Kimball and in November 2001 she moved into the Manor.
Mrs. Shoup was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church of Bushnell where she played the organ for many years, and was active in many other church activities. She was a member of the Eastern Star Truth Chapter 262, Nebraska Cowbelles and the Moonbeam Extension Club. For many years Alta enjoyed bowling with the Tuesday Morning Coffee League.
She is survived by son Jim and wife Stephanie Shoup of Kimball, daughter Sandra and husband Mark Cornelison of Omaha, Neb.; three grandchildren, Doug, Matthew and Candace Shoup; two great grandchildren Meaghan and Ryley Shoup; and nephew Roy James.
Alta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Claud and a daughter Carolyn Joyce.
Richard Adels
Richard A. Adels, 63, if Casper, Wyo., formerly of Kimball, Neb., died September 7, 2004 at Wyoming Medical Center.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at 2038 Yellow Creek Road in Casper on Saturday, Sept. 18, from 1-4 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
He was born on September 14, 1940 in Kimball, Neb. to Albert G. and Annabel F. (Garrard) Adels. He spent his early years in Kimball. The family moved to Pine Bluffs, Wyo. He worked in the oil fields as a truck driver and pumper in about every western state over the years. He enjoyed fishing, fly tying, making jewelry, and drinking coffee with his friends and talking about fishing.
Richard Adels is survived by a son, Dwayne Adels of Douglas, Wyo.; his mother, Annabel Adels of Pine Bluffsl a sister: Patricia Ring of Pine Bluffs; four brothers: Raymond Adels, Green River, Wyo., Ronald Adels, Pine Bluffs, Bruce Adels, Pine Bluffs, and Douglas Adels, Pine Bluffs; and companion, Kathy Markworth, Casper. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Carolyn Adels.
