Jesse Dunn
Jesse Dean Dunn, 72, of Comanche, Okla., formerly of Kimball, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, in his home.
Memorial service was at Praise Assembly of God Church in Comanche with the Rev. W. W. Harkins officiating. Burial was scheduled for a later date in Sunset Cemetery in Stinnett, Texas.
Jesse was born April 19, 1932 in Comanche to Tracy J. and Myrttie E. Dunn. He married Sylvia Gail McEntire in 1955 in Henrietta, Texas.
He worked for 40 years as a union ironworker and was a member of Local Union No. 454, Casper, Wyo. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing Bingo. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Kimball, Neb.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia, a son Tracy Dunn and his wife Lauri of Cheyenne; three daughters in Texas and Nevada; two sons of Omaha Neb. and Cheyenne; two sisters of Commanche; a half-sister of Stonegate, Okla.; a brother of Oregon; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Glynis Storey; a son, Wesley Heinrich Dunn; a granddaughter, and a grandson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society, Diabetic Association, or the Sunset Cemetery.

Dorothy Larson
Dorothy Larson, 85 of Gurley, Neb., who had relatives in Potter and Harrisburg, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004 at Memorial Health Center, Extended Care in Sidney.
Funeral services were Nov. 23 in the Dalton Presbyterian Church with burial in the Dalton Cemetery. Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney assisted the family with arrangements.
Survivors include son Lanny Larson and his wife Carolyn of Potter; grandchild Lee and LuAnne Bruce and children of Harrisburg; daughters Twila Flohr and her husband Phil of Gurley; Jolene Egging and her husband Richard of Gurley, Neb; and many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Max Littrell
Max A. Littrell, formerly of Kimball, passed away November 9, 2004 at home after a valiant battle with cancer.
Max was born March 19,1932 in Horton, Kan. to Verdo Littrell and Mildred Martin. He attended Powhattan Kansas Grade School and Kimball, Neb. High School, where he graduated in 1950. He was a decorated veteran of the Korean War after serving in the Navy from 1951-1955 on the U.S.S. Taylor.
He met his wife of 48 years while attending C.S.U. He married Janet Clifton in 1956. She survives him.
He is also survived by a daughter, Sharyl Littrell Ellerby, and a son Brad Littrell and daughter-in-law Jeanne Littrell, all of Fort Collins, Colo.; six grandchildren: Kara, Ryan, and Kyle Ellerby, and Sage, Austin, and Dylan Erhart; a sister, Colleen Littrell of Arizona, brother Michael Littrell and his wife Debbie Littrell of Greeley, and sister Susan Littrell and her husband John Cook of Texas.
Max owned Dutch Boy Donuts until retirement and Mary Carter Paint and Framing in Fort Collins. He also was with Lindell Real Estate and had a business in Steamboat Springs. After retirement, Max drove the courtesy shuttle for eight years for Dellenbach Motors until his recent diagnosis.
Max enjoyed hiking, camping and fishing with his family. He was an avid motorcycle rider, belonging to 40 Plus Motorcycle Club until his death. Max and Jan enjoyed memberships in the Good Times Dance Club. He loved playing poker with his poker club of 35 years. He had a commercial pilot’s license and flew small planes for many years. He was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis. Max loved a challenge and faced this last one with great dignity and courage.
He will be greatly missed. Max was cremated and his remains scattered in the Rocky Mountains that he so loved. A celebration of his life was on Saturday, Nov. 13 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Fort Collins, followed by a reception to honor him. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Larimer County.

Phyllis Allison
Phyllis May Allison, age 73, died on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at her home in Dix, Neb. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P. M. on Friday, November 19 at the Cantrell Funeral Home Chapel in Kimball. Pastor Virgil Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 A. M. to 8:00 P. M. on Thursday, November 18. Burial will be in the Dix Rural Cemetery. Cantrell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Phyllis was born on August 30, 1931 in Gothenburg, Neb. to Lloyd and Pearl (Hewitt) Whited. She lived for a time in Colorado Springs, Colo., moving to Dix in 1973. She was employed for many years as a housekeeper at the Holiday Motel and later the Kimball Super 8, retiring at age 70.
Mrs. Allison was a lifetime member of the V. F. W. Auxiliary, serving as President while residing in Colorado Springs. She ran Bingo at the V. F. W. for many years. Phyllis was a past member of the Dix Garden Club. She loved animals, especially her cats. She also spent many hours visiting with the residents of the Kimball Manor.
Phyllis is survived by her two children— daughter Artith and husband (Curtis) Williamson of Dix, and son, Brian McCracken of Cripple Creek, Colo.; grandchildren Becky and husband David Halligan of Potter; Terry Williamson and wife Trisha of Chadron, Neb., Lori Harris of North Platte, Neb., Jesse Williamson of Dix, Nicole, and Christina McCracken; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother Eugene, and sister Norma Gene Ronnekamp.

Walter Skrdlant
Walter L. Skrdlant, 67, of Sterling, Colo., formerly of Kimball, died Nov. 11, 2004 in Sterling.
A Mass of Christian burial took place Nov. 16 at St. Anthony Catholic church with Father James Baird officiating. Burial took place at Riverside Cemetery. Chaney-Reager Funeral Home of Sterling assisted with arrangements.
Walter was born on March 27, 1937 at Sidney, Neb. to James and Alice (Egging) Skrdlant. He graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1955, entered the U.S. Army in 1955 during the Korean War and was discharged in 1957. On Sept. 19, 1959, in Kimball, Neb., he married Esther Lukesh. They made their home in Sidney and then Sterling, Limon, Colo., and Sterling again where he was employed at the Logan Co. Sheriff’s Office.
Besides being a member of the church, he was a member of BPO Elks Lodge for 40 years and was past exalted ruler. He enjoyed bowling, golf, hunting and fishing, and helped raise funds for muscular dystrophy.
He is survived by his wife, Esther, sons: Tony Skrdlant and M. J. Graham of Omaha, Neb., and Cliff Skrdlant, San Diego, Calif.; brothers: Jim Skrdlant and wife Kathy, Loveland, Colo., Stan Skrdlant and wife Sherry, Ovid, Colo., Lee Skrdlant and wife Nancy, Ft. Collins, Colo., and sister Gerry Simpson of Scottsbluff, Neb., and Nancy McGrady (Paul) of Anchorage, Alaska. He is also survived by granddaughters Danielle Cole of Sterling and Jessica Pafford of Jacksonville, Fla., and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Connie Skrdlant Pafford, and brother Dale Skrdlant.
Memorials may be made to the Logan County Sheriff Memorial Fund.

Marjorie Wolf
Marjorie L. Wolf of Kimball, Neb. (a former resident of Englewood, Colo.) died November 11, 2004. She was the mother of David J. Wolf of Harrisburg, Neb. and Rachel S. Nelms of Kimball.
Funeral services were Nov 16 at Drinkwine Mortuary Chapel in Littleton, Colo. with Burial at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
She was born in Bertha, Minn. on February 16, 1921. She attended high school and Business College in Minnesota. She married Calvin W. Wolf on June 16, 1945 in Bermerton, Wash. Her Husband Calvin W. Wolf preceded her in death on February 15, 2002.
She is survived by seven children: David J. Wolf of Harrisburg; Rachel S. Nelms of Kimball; Rebecca R. King of Aurora, Colo.; Phillip A. Wolf of Golden, Colo.; Elizabeth A. Lumley of Vancouver B.C.; Deborah L. Wolf of Bellevue, Wash.; Jonathan E. Wolf of St. Louis, Mo; 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, two sisters: Dorothy Platson of Augusta, Ga. and Barbara Kinsella of St. Paul, Minn.; and a brother, Carroll Wieland of Stafford, Ariz.

Jay Bradt
Jay Pershing Bradt, age 86 , died on Monday, November 8, 2004 at Kimball Health Services. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Friday, November 12, 2004 at the Cantrell Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Roger Gillming will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 A. M. to 8:00 P. M. Burial will be held in the Kimball Cemetery. If friends wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church of Kimball. Cantrell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Jay was born on September 14, 1918 in Weld County, Colo. He graduated from Kimball County High School in 1937. On New Years Eve 1941, he and Virginia Vawter were united in marriage in Greeley, Colo. Jay served his country during World War II in the army. Upon his discharge, he returned to the Kimball area where he farmed and ran Olsen Elevator. In 1960, he and his wife moved to Albuquerque, N.M. where he spent a number of years employed at Bay Filling Station. He also worked on construction projects in the area. His health forced his retirement in 1976. In 1985 they returned to Kimball.
Mr. Bradt was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Kimball Lions Club, the V. F. W. and a former president of the Lost Chord Society.
He is survived by his sons: Bennie C. Bradt of Kimball, David Jay and wife Andrea Bradt of Houston, Texas; a daughter Judith and husband George Snyder of Lexington, N.C.; a brother Lee Bradt of McCook, Neb.; three sisters: Grace Gadeken of Kimball, Betty Bradt of Wichita, Kan., and Joy Linzy of Capistrano Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia in October of 1991, his parents, brothers George, Gerald and Elford Bradt, and sisters Rosemary Furrow and Nellie Wheeler.

Gary Peterson
Gary Neal Peterson, 58, of Sterling, Colo., formerly of Kimball, died Monday, November 8, 2004, in Fort Collins, Colo. Visitation is Thursday, Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with rosary to follow immediately at Tennant Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian burial is Friday, Nov. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. James Baird officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gary Peterson Memorial Fund, in care of Tennant Funeral Home, P. O. Box 1547, Sterling, CO 80751.

Walter Doremus
Walter Leroy Doremus, 83, of Kimball, Nebraska died Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at the Kimball Hospital.
A funeral service was October 28, 2004 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Roger Gillming officiating. Visitation was Oct. 28 at the chapel. Interment was at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering with military honors.

Walter was born on September 30, 1921 in Shelton, Neb. to Clarence and Hazel (Marks) Doremus. He was raised and attended school in Shelton, graduating from Shelton High School in 1938. After high school he went to California and worked on a ranch breaking horses. He was united in marriage to Mayme M. Onstott on February 21, 1944 in California. He returned to western Nebraska and worked for several area farmers.
He enlisted with the Army Air Corps and was a radio operator on B17s during WWII, flying 35 missions. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Upon his honorable discharge, he and Mayme moved to Scottsbluff for a short time, before moving to Hay Springs to farm. In 1953, they took their family to Phoenix, then back to California, where Walt worked in the Farm Equipment business. In 1963, they returned to western Nebraska. He and Mayme owned and operated Doremus Equipment in Bayard before deciding to return to farming north of Bayard. In 1980, they moved to the Grand Island area, where he worked for several seed corn companies before retiring.
Walt was an avid fisherman and bowled and golfed. He enjoyed bird watching, traveling and liked seeing the different areas of country. He was a member of the American Legion.
Walt is survived by his children, LaDonna Eaton of New Orleans, La.; Norman Doremus of Greenleaf, Kan. and Karen Munoz of Kimball, Neb.; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters: Shirley Volguardsen of Cairo, Neb., and Charlotte Powell of Ogallala, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mayme in December 1994, brothers Clarence, Melvin and Donald, and sister Dorothy.

Ray Medbery
Ray Gerold Medbery, 91, of Scottsbluff, formerly of Kimball, died Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at West Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Scottsbluff. Funeral services were on November 1 at Bethel Baptist Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating.
Cremation was at Sunset Memorial Park with inurnment in the Kimball Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the West Nebraska Veteran’s Home or to Bethel Baptist Church. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com.
Ray was born September 6, 1913 in Bell Grade, Neb. to Wilber Sylvester and Ethna Hazel Medbery. He grew up in central Nebraska with twin brother Roy Herold. He entered the army November 18, 1941 and received a medical discharge on October 28, 1942. He married Martina Byrd June 17, 1943 in Huntington, WVa. In 1944, they moved to Kimball where he farmed south of Kimball for many years. He helped raise two of his grandchildren, Kathlene May and Roy Martin Medbery II. Family members were always welcome at the farm where there was often a house full.
He was a member and a deacon at Oak Street Baptist Church. When he retired, he moved into Kimball and then to Scottsbluff. In Scottsbluff, he joined the Bethel Baptist Church. He moved to the Veteran’s home in 1997.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Roy Martin and Tammy Medbery of Scottsbluff; daughters and sons-in-law: Janice Joann and Jim Garrett of Laramie, Wyo., and Dorothy May and Shannon Smith of Phoenix, Ariz.; stepdaughter and son-in-law: Elnora and Tom Culek of Kimball, Neb.; twin brother Roy Herold Medbery of Greeley, Colo.; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Martina; grandson Roy Martin Medbery II; great grandson Zackery Garrett; two brothers: Marion and Orville; and sister Hazel Jenson.
He will be deeply missed by family and many friends in and out of the veterans home.

Evelyn Sharp
Evelyn Sharp, 92, of Gering, formerly of Harrisburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004 at Regional West Medical Center. Graveside services were Friday, Oct. 29 at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeport with Rev. Joan Phillips officiating.
A memorial has been established to Cancer Treatment Center/Cancer Survivors at Regional West Medical Center. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff is in charge of the arrangements. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com.
Evelyn was born Nov. 22, 1911, in McCook, Neb. to Isaac Aaron and Icel May (Boyd) Underhill. She married Daniel Arthur Sharp on Jan. 25, 1934 in Harrisburg, Neb.
She is survived by three sons, a daughter, seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and a nephew.
Her husband and three sisters preceded her in death.

Thomas Rutz
Thomas M. Rutz, 59, of Lincoln, Neb., a Kimball High School graduate, died Sunday, October 31, 2004 in Lincoln. Metcalf Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born April 5, 1945 in Scottsbluff, Neb. to Herman and Helen (Zier) Rutz. He was a career Lincoln Public Middle School Teacher.
Tom enjoyed managing his rental properties and was an avid athlete, dedicated Husker fan and health enthusiast. He was a member of the Nebraska Softball Hall of Fame, Lincoln Track Club, Husker Power Club, and a deeply faithful member of Hope Community Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, teacher, coach and friend.
His family includes: wife, Linda; daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Tim Svoboda, Julie and Jordan Wondercheck, of Lincoln; son, Scott “Rocky” Rutz, Lincoln; grandsons Thomas and Dylan Svoboda; brothers and sisters-in-law Tim and Nancy Rutz of Texas, and Herb and Kathi Rutz of Ohio; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Helen Knaub-Rutz; and father- and mother in-law, Ed and Bettyann Robinson.
A Memorial service is Nov. 4, 4 p.m., at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Memorials may be given in care of the family to Hope Community Church, MDA-ALS Research, or Lincoln Public Schools Foundation.

Charlotte Gross
Charlotte Emily Gross, age 95, died on Friday, October 29, 2004 at the Kimball County Manor. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be Nov. 9, 10:30 a.m. at the Kimball County Manor Chapel with Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker officiating. Burial will follow in the Kimball Cemetery. Cantrell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Charlotte was born on April 9, 1909 to Henry and Hattie (Kliese) Gross in Lincoln, Neb.She graduated from Kimball High School and began teaching school. During the summers she attended and graduated from Kearny State College. She continued to teach and eventually earned her Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Colorado State Teacher’s College in Greeley, Colo. She moved to Denver where she taught at several elementary and junior high schools. During the 1980s, Charlotte moved to Kimball to be closer to her brothers.
She is survived by her nieces, Elizabeth and husband Don Shandera of Kimball, Catherine Joska of Kimball, Lois and husband Melvin Fornstrom of Pine Bluffs, Wyo., Charlotte and husband Warren VanMeter of Reedsville, Ohio; and a nephew Frank and wife Helen Janesofsky.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mildred Janesofsky, and brothers Henry, Raymond, and Carl Gross.

Eldora Morby
Eldora Morby, 84, of Kennewick, Wash., formerly of Harrisburg, Neb., died September 29, 2004 at Kennewick General Hospital. Funeral services were Oct. 4 and interment followed at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Tri-City Chaplaincy Hostle House, 2108 W. Entait Ave., Kennewick, WA 99336.
Eldora was born Feb. 17, 1920 in Harrisburg to Winfred W. and Florence (Wynne) Downer and grew up on the family farm. She married John Leper Morby of Bushnell on Dec. 3, 1940 at First Methodist Church in Ogden, Utah.
While raising her children, she served as Camp Fire Leader, baseball mom, and Sunday school teacher. She belonged to the Wesleyans at the First United Methodist Church, Rebekkah Lodge #182, and the Sears Retirees Assoc. She also worked in the audit department of Sears for 20 years.
She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as children were a great joy to her.
Eldora is survived by daughter Margie (Larry) Garner; son Charles W. Morby (Connie); sister Dorothy (Eugene) Smith of Hawk Springs, Wyo.; sister-in-law Mary Downer of Littleton, Colo.; daughter Colleen McCarthy; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers Robert W. and John A. Downer.

Iola T. Larsen
Iola Tracy Larsen, age 93, died on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at the Kimball County Manor. Funeral services were held on October 26 at the Cantrell Funeral Home. Pastor Ron Nuss-Warren officiated. Burial followed in the Kimball Cemetery. If friends wish, memorial gifts may be made to the Kimball Masonic Hall for the carpet fund in care of the family. Cantrell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Iola was born July 22, 1911 to P. J. and Ione (Maus) Tracy at Wood River, Neb. In 1917 she moved to Kimball and graduated from Kimball County High School in 1929. On May 2, 1934 she married Delmar Larsen and together they operated Larsen’s Jewelry Store until she retired in 1983.
She was a member of the Kimball Presbyterian Church, a 50-year member and Past Matron of Truth Chapter #262 Order of the Eastern Star, a Past Guardian and Past Honored Queen of Bethel 12 International Order of Jobs Daughters.
Mrs. Larsen is survived by her daughter Karen Robinson and husband Jim; grandson Greg Robinson and wife Nora, granddaughter Carla Goranson and husband Dennis, all of Kimball; great-grandchildren Matthew and Stuart Goranson, and Stephanie, Katherine, Anthony and Michael Robinson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Delmar on June 21, 1981.

Marcia E. Terman
Marcia E. Terman, 96, of Gering, formerly of Potter, Neb., died Saturday morning, October 23, 2004 at Northfield Villa Medical Center in Gering.
Funeral services were held on October 27 in the United Methodist Church in Potter with Pastors Mary Frohs and Roger Gillming officiating. Burial followed in the Potter Cemetery. Friends called on October 26 at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.
Memorials may be made to the Potter United Methodist Church or the Northfield Villa Medical Center.
Marcia E. Terman was born October 27, 1907 at Hildreth, Neb., the daughter of Elba and Helene (Cantor) Hadley. When she was a child, her family moved to a farm south of Potter. Marcia attended Potter High School. On September 6, 1926, she was united in marriage to Guy Terman in Sterling, Colo. He preceded her in death on November 19, 1973.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Mihevic and husband Al of Denver, Colo., and Dee Killham and husband Ed of Kimball, Neb.; five grandchildren: Susan Pasek and husband Gerry of Denver, Colo., Marcia Joiner and husband Larry of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; Dallen Juelfs and wife Dode of Casper, Wyo., Julie Juelfs of Fairbanks, Alaska; and Lori Dent and husband Steve of North Platte, Neb.; eleven great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Burnace Hadley.

Charles Droll
Charles W. "Bud" Droll, age 75, of Ainsworth, Iowa, died October l8, 2004 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City following a brief illness. He is the father of Bev Skovgard of Kimball, Neb.
Funeral services were Oct. 23 in Ainsworth. Memorials have been established for the Ainsworth Volunteer Fire Department/First Responders or the Ainsworth Opera House.
Bud was born June 8, 1929 in Richmond, Iowa the son of Lawrence C. and Agnes Julia (Wulf) Droll.

Esther Richards
Esther M. Richards, 82, of Gering, formerly of Banner County., Neb., died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial is Oct. 28, 10 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering with Father Gerald Harr officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Esther was born July 18, 1922, in Banner County to Christian and Victoria M. (Wemhoff) Greisen. She graduated from Banner County High School ad received her associate’s degree at the Scottsbluff Junior College. She taught at a country school in Banner County. She married Claude Richards on April 1, 1946 in Scottsbluff.
She is survived by six children, one sister, six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter, her parents, and 11 brothers and sisters.

Ray Gerold Medbery
Ray Gerold Medbery, 91, of Scottsbluff, died Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at West Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Scottsbluff. He is the stepfather of Elnora (Tom) Culek of Kimball.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 1 at Bethel Baptist Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. Cremation will be held at Sunset Memorial Park with inurnment in the Kimball Cemetery.
Friends may call at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel Saturday and Sunday between 1-6 p.m.
