Hazel Hofmann
Hazel E. Hofmann, 88, of Evansville, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Columbia Health Care Facility.
She was a member of St. Lucas United Church of Christ and enjoyed traveling and playing clabber.
Surviving are a sister, Ruth Hofmann of Evansville; and a niece and a nephew.
Her husband, Carl, died in 1992.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Park Chapel, the Rev. Thomas F. Webster officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to service time at the chapel. Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Lucas United Church of Christ.

Charles Thompson
Charles J. Thompson, 78, of Cullman, Ala., formerly of Evansville, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Carraway Hospital in Birmingham, Ala.
He had worked for Bendix-Westinghouse in Alabama, and retired from the Americold Corp. in 1986.
Surviving are a daughter, Babette Hoyle of Asheville, N.C.; two sons, Charles of Hoover, Ala., and David of Allentown, N.J.; and three grandchildren, Alicia Thompson and Stuart and Andrew Hoyle.
His wife, Mary Louise, died in 1999.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Browning Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Raymond Moore
Raymond Kenneth “Doc” Moore, 82, of Evansville, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at St. Mary’s Health Care Services/Welborn Campus.
He had worked for Evansville Food Distributors as manager and accountant.
He was a World War II Army veteran and survivor of Pearl Harbor.
He was a 45-year member of Evansville First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors.
He had played in several minor baseball leagues in his youth. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and playing clabber.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Julia “Mae” (Adamson); a daughter, Pamela Barrett of Evansville; two sons, Anthony “Tony” of Evansville and Dr. Gary Moore of Newburgh; a sister, Gladys Ruth Quertermous of Corbin, Ky.; a brother, Edwin Moore of Portage, Ind.; six grandchildren, Jamie and Drake Barrett and Courtney, Caitlin, Eric and Raymond Samuel Moore; and a great-grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Revs. Timothy Suenram and James Nicholson officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Elmer Howe
TELL CITY, Ind. — Elmer L. Howe, 88, died Saturday Feb. 26, 2000, at the Perry County Memorial Hospital.
He retired in 1973, after 33 years with the Tell City Chair Co.
He enjoyed pitching horseshoes and playing euchre.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Stanley of Tell City and Norma Young of Chandler; three sons, Jim and Pat Howe and Bernard Lahee, all of Tell City; four sisters, Eva Peter and Dolly Rogier, both of Tell City, Ruth Miller of Greenville and Inez Goffinet of Leopold; a brother, Frank of Stockton, Calif.; 17 grandchildren, David, Jeff and Keith Lahee, Earl Young, Kathy Foley, Janet Rogier, Lisa Ettienne, Debbie Hendershot, Tina Irvin, Lynn Stebbins and Glenn, Michelle, Jason, Christopher, Kristin, Cory and Mark Howe; and 26 great-grandchildren.
His wife, Alice (Peter), preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Zoercher Gillick Funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Laura Bolin
WINSLOW, Ind. — Laura A. Bolin, 80, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Wirth Regional Hospital in Oakland City.
She was a member of the Anderson Chapel in Petersburg.
Surviving are her husband, Denver; a daughter, Nina McCandless of Winslow; seven sons, John W., Ray, Ronnie, Terry Joe and Don, all of Winslow, Robert A. of Washington, Ind., and Jack of Palo Pinto, Texas; 31 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 38 great-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Judy Kay Bolin, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Tuesday at Curtis Funeral Home, with burial in Williams Cemetery in Pike County.

John Riney
LOOGOOTEE, Ind. — John Bernard Riney, 88, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, Ind.
He retired from the Crane Navel Surface Warfare Center and he was an Army veteran.
He was a member of the St. Martin Catholic Church in Whitfield.
Surviving are a son, William of rural Loogootee; two daughters, Ila Schierenberh of Indianapolis and Jackie Mills of Buckatunna, Miss.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Armstrong) and a son, John Wilson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Tuesday at St. Martin Catholic Church in Whitfield, with burial in the church Cemetery, with military rites.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. EST today, with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m., at Titzer Funeral Home.

Charles Stone
HENDERSON, Ky. — Charles H. “Charlie” Stone, 42, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at his home of cancer.
He was a member of the Sebree Pentecostal Church.
Surviving are his wife, Teresa; a daughter, Melissa Bellew of Henderson; a son, Daniel of Henderson; his mother, Mandy Stone of Henderson; two sisters, Shirley Stone and Mary Katherine Sheeley, both of Henderson; three brothers, Aubrey, Carroll Wayne and Charles, all of Henderson; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, with burial in Old Cedar Grove Cemetery in Webster County.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Carlyn Childress
PRINCETON, Ky. — Carlyn C. Childress, 87, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at his home of an apparent heart attack.
He had been a carpenter and was a deacon at the Second Baptist Church in Princeton.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Verna (Thomas); two daughters, Glenda Osborne of Princeton and Sue Son of Madisonville; a son, the Rev. Gary Childress of Hopkinsville; two sisters, Evalee Hanna of Pasadena, Texas, and Pauline Coffman of Trenton, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Morgan’s Funeral Home, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Gwendolene Pitke
PRINCETON, Ky. — Gwendolene M. Pitke, 94, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at the Lynchburg Nursing Home in Tennessee.
She retired as office manager of the Kentucky Utilities in Sturgis.
She was a member of the Ogden United Methodist Church in Princeton.
There are no immediate survivors. Her husband, Edward Franklin, died in 1978.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morgan’s Funeral Home, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ollie Morse
PRINCETON, Ky. — Ollie Morse, 102, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Hilltop Nursing Home in Kuttawa.
She was a member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Mae Byrd of Carlsbad, N.M., Wilma Board of Princeton and Georgia Endicott of Poseyville, Ind.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Will Ed, and two daughters, Lois Watson, and Katherine Jean Morse.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Morgan’s Funeral Home, with burial in Sugar Creek Church Cemetery.

Eugene Watts
MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Eugene Watts, 71, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at his home. He was a hospice patient.
He had been a dairyman and member of Teamsters Local 179 in Joliet, Ill.
He was a World War II Navy veteran and member of American Legion Post 6 in Madisonville.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda L. Jones, Cheryl J. Watts-Curtis and Kathie Garza, all of Centerville, Iowa; three sons, Eugene E. of Burbank, Ill., and Jeffrey A. and Walter A., both of Sauk Village, Ill.; four sisters, Evelyn Clayton of Osceola, Ind., Nancy Vanderveer of Madisonville, Martha Offield of Independence, Mo., and Bertha Shugar of McPherson, Kan.; two brothers, Stanley of Madisonville and Jerry of Dawson Springs; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his companion, Pauline.
His wife, Delma June (Burnett), died in 1986.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home, with burial pending.

Robert Judy
NOBLE, Ill. — Robert O. Judy, 71, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Burgin Manor in Olney. He suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.
He retired from Ashland Oil Co. after 42 years as a truck driver.
He was a member of the Glenwood Church, Noble Volunteer Fire Department, school board, Lion’s Club and had been a Boy Scout Master.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary Ann Ulm and Julia Hall, both of Noble and Sarah Zwilling of Olney; two sons, Robert Ray of Dale, Ind., and David of Noble; two sisters, Virginia Turner and Eloise Akers, both of Lawrenceville; three brothers, Ed of Gretna, La., Jack of Newton and Larry of Sumner; and 11 grandchildren.
His wife, Sarah Glendora (Ravelette), died in 1998.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home, with burial in Noble Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of the Glenwood Church.

Paul Lively
Paul Ray Lively, 74, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital.
He retired from Whirlpool after 40 years and currently worked for Professional Transportation Service.
He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church.
He was a member of the River Bend Association, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 1114 and past president of the Eagles Country Club.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Pacific. He received the Purple Heart and an Oak Leaf Cluster.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Dorothy (Roth); three daughters, Linda Munday of Lynn Haven, Fla., Paula Cates of Evansville and Debbie Wolf of Crawfordsville, Ind.; six grandchildren, Jamie Huffine, Lori Watson, Jennifer and Jake Inkenbrandt and Chuck and David Munday; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Donald Moore officiating, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Lucille Fulkerson
Lucille L. Fulkerson, 87, of Evansville, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at McCurdy Healthcare Center.
Surviving are a sister,
Lula E. Neumann of Evansville; and nieces and nephews, including niece and caregiver Alyson Modesitt of Evansville.
Her husband, John, died in 1986.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.

Jeanette Boyll
Jeanette Marie Boyll, 94, formerly of Evansville, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at The Groves Nursing Home in Independence, Mo.
She retired from F.W. Means and Co. in Evansville.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Independence.
Surviving are four daughters, Lanell Bettis of Galt, Mo., Colleen Heckenlively and Faye VanLandingham, both of Independence, and Jane Dale of Raytown, Mo.; four sons, H. David Beckham of Evansville, Maurice VanLandingham of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Edsel VanLandingham of Silver Springs, Md., and Jason VanLandingham of Duncan, Okla.; 31 grandchildren, including Lisa K. Hodge and Christopher Beckham; 45 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joe Douglas VanLandingham.
Services will be Monday at Carson Funeral Home in Independence, Mo., with burial in Lee’s Summit, Mo.

Frances Burnett
Frances Helen (Johnson) Burnett, 89, of Evansville, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Brentwood Nursing Home.
She retired from deJong’s.
She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are a stepson, James Coleman of Evansville; three stepgranddaughters, Gayle Garrett, Vanessa Sisney and Kitty Cabell; and a niece and a nephew.
Services and burial will be private.
There will be no visitation at Kriekhaus-Sansom Funeral Home.

Judy Mason
Judy Mason, 52, formerly of Evansville, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, in Kirby, Ark.
She was a licensed real estate agent in Louisiana.
She was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and served with the Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband, Joe; a daughter, Frankie Lynn Moss of Forest Hill, La.; a son, Billy of Kirby, Ark.; a stepson, Jimmy Joe Mason of Arlington, Texas; her father, Bill Franks of Kirby; a sister, Becky Warden of Pennsauken, N.J.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Kirby, Ark., Elders Bobby Golden and Melvin Markham officiating, with burial in Bear Creek Cemetery.
Davis-Smith Funeral Home in Glenwood, Ark., is handling arrangements.

Alexis Gerteisen
Alexis Gerteisen, 19-month old daughter of Kevin and Ruth (Loechte) Gerteisen of Evansville, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of leukemia.
Also surviving are a brother, Reed, at home; and her grandparents, Joyce Gerteisen and Maurice and Mary Jane Loechte.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Pierre Funeral Home.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Leota Barnett
Leota E. “Lee” (Foster) Barnett of Newburgh died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, in Evansville.
Surviving are two daughters, Joann Williams of Evansville and Janet Wallace of Henderson, Ky.; and a grandson, James Williams of Corvallis, Ore.
Graveside services will be private in Barnett Chapel Cemetery.
There will be no visitation at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.

William Sharer
William O. Sharer, 73, of Pinellas Park, Fla., formerly of Evansville, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, in St. Petersburg, Fla., of complications of cancer.
He was an Indiana state trooper before moving to Florida to found a plastics company.
He was a World War II Navy veteran.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Jane (Dougan); a daughter, Cathy Skeels of St. Petersburg, Fla., a son, Ronald of Cumming, Ga.; a sister, Betty Sensmeir of Cobdon, Ill.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Taylor Funeral Home in St. Petersburg is handling arrangements.

Alfred Bethe
CHANDLER, Ind. — Alfred W. Bethe, 84, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at his home.
He retired from Whirlpool after 35 years.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Marie; three daughters, Barbara Embry and Linda and Patty Bethe, all of Chandler; two sons, Russell of Elberfeld and Glenn of Evansville; four sisters, Josephine Butch and Wanda Bethe, both of Evansville, Evelyn Butcher of Elberfeld and Opal Barton of Lynnville; two brothers, Lowell and Bud Bethe, both of Elberfeld; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Simpson Volkman Funeral Home in Elberfeld, with burial in Zion Cemetery.

Golda Small
MONROE CITY, Ind. — Golda Jewell Small, 87, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at her home.
She retired in 1976 from the South Knox School Corp. after 30 years as a teacher.
She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and past matron of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are her husband, L. Boyd Small; a daughter, Judy Sutton of Monroe City; two sons, Ronald and Roger, both of Monroe City; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. EST Monday at Goodwin Funeral Home in Vincennes, with burial in Hamline Chapel Cemetery in Monroe City.

Herbert Arnold
TELL CITY, Ind. — Herbert R. Arnold, 81, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
He worked at the Tell City Desk Factory and at Greenwood Cemetery in Tell City.
He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
Surviving are four sisters, Doretha Horlander, Mildred Williams, Alice Wittmer and Virginia Aldridge, all of Tell City; two brothers, Ray and Carol, both of Tell City; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church or to Perry County Memorial Hospital.

Clarice Bowman
OAKLAND CITY, Ind. — Clarice (Jenkins) Bowman, 83, formerly of Oakland City, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, in Denver, Colo.
She was a teacher.
She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church and the Social Order of Beauceant, Assembly 1, both in Denver.
She was a 1934 graduate of Oakland City High School and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in fine arts from Ball State University.
Surviving are two daughters, Bliss Anne Terrill of Castle Rock, Colo., and Judith Elaine Eckhardt of Larkspur, Colo.; a brother, Robert Jenkins of Oklahoma City; and three grandchildren, Adam K. Gawlikowski and John D. and James M. Eckhardt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry V.
Services were held in Denver, with burial of cremains in Greenpark Cemetery in Portland, Ind.
