WASHINGTON, Ind. — Thelma Marie McBride, 87, of Plainfield, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at Eastgate Manor Nursing Center.
She had worked at the Daviess County auditor’s office and at the Washington Credit Bureau, where she worked for 13 years.
She was a 50-year member of Elnora Eastern Star, member of the Friendly Circle Homemakers Club and Daviess County Republican Ladies Club. She had been Steele Township vice-precinct committee person and secretary of Plainville Cemetery Association.
She was a 1931 graduate of Plainville High School and member of the Plainville Christian Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Janet Goodwin of Washington; a son, Robert Arnold of Plainville; two sisters, Dorothy Thomas of Washington and Billie Nelson of Chandler; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Plainville Christian Church, with private graveside services in the Plainville Cemetery.

MOUNT VERNON, Ind. — Deborah Hart Shewmaker, 45, of Norris City, Ill., formerly of Mount Vernon, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, of a cerebral aneurysm at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
She worked at the Wabash Memorial Bridge in Mount Vernon for 16 years.
She was a graduate of Reitz High School in Evansville.
Surviving are her husband, Glendell of Norris City; a daughter, Kristina Hart of Mount Vernon; a son, Keith Hart Jr. of Mount Vernon; her parents, Donald and Shirley (Paceley) Anderson of Lynnville; two sisters, Donna Kelley of Lynnville and Doris Hughes of Boonville; a brother, Donald R. FORT BRANCH, Ind., — Alva Leon Sibbitt Sr., 80, of Paoli, father of Michael H. of Fort Branch, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, in the Orange County Hospital.
He had been a livestock dealer and had worked with the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
He was a World War II Army veteran and member of Masonic Lodge 119.
He attended the Paoli Friends Meeting.
Also surviving are his wife, Beatrice; a son Alva Leon Jr. of Paoli; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were at Kemple-Dillman-Ellis Funeral Home in Paoli, with burial in the Paoli Community Cemetery.

BIRDSEYE, Ind. — Lucille Lawrence, 79, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at St. Joseph Hospital in Huntingburg from congestive heart failure.
She attended the Community Chapel of Eckerty.

Her husband, Ivan, died in 1994.

PRINCETON, Ind. — Cora L. Riley, 78, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at Gibson General Hospital.
She had been an inspector at Potter & Brumfield in Princeton, retiring in 1976, and was a member of Clark’s Chapel General Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are three sons, George L. of Mackey, Jack of Princeton and John of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

MOUNT VERNON, Ind. — Henry A. P. Lang Jr., 81, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at his home.
He was a farmer and had been a mechanic at Eilert Farm Equipment Co. from 1936 to 1942.
As a boy he drove a steam engine for his dad, pulling two threshing rigs and pulled a separator to farms in the Harmony Township area.
He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Future Farmers of America and honorary member of the Conservation Club.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Bertha Marie (Bayer); two daughters, Judith Heberer and Mary Ann Lang, both of Mount Vernon; a son, William E. of Mount Vernon; two sisters, Elfrieda Lang and Augusta McClure, both of Evansville; seven grandchildren, Thomas E. and John W. Lang, Donise Stahl, Donell Walton, Donett May and Matthew and Elizabeth Billman; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was a farmer and retired as a mechanic from the State Highway Department in Dale.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in France, England and Scotland, and was the recipient of a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3418 in Boonville.
He was a member of the Little Zion General Baptist Church in Tennyson and had served as the trustee of the church cemetery.

He was a World War II Army veteran and member of the American Legion in Clay and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5484 in Providence.
