PRINCETON, Ind. — Mary Ruth Clem, 80, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at Gibson General Hospital.
She had worked in child care. She and her husband were foster parents.
Surviving are a son, H. Eldon; two sisters, Lucille Hallam of Owensville and Margaret Hobson of Merrillville; a grandson, Daniel Clem; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Eldon, died in 1976.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Tabor Cemetery, with meeting at the Colvin Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. for a procession to the cemetery.

William Spicer Jr.
CHANDLER, Ind. — William L. “Bill” Spicer Jr., 72, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at St. Mary’s Warrick from coronary pulmonary disease.
He retired from Whirlpool Corp. in 1991 after 39 years. He had worked at Servel and was a member of Local 808 in Evansville.
He was an Army veteran.
Surviving are a sister, Verona E. Spicer of Chandler; and a niece.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Koehler Funeral Home Perigo Chapel, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville, with military rites.

Val Smith
HENDERSON, Ky. — Val Edward Smith, 82, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital.
He owned and managed Dixie Lou Frocks of Henderson, retiring in 1979.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge 206 and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Surviving are two grandchildren, Kyle McGee and Corey Nichols.
His wife, Lucille, died in 1975 and his daughter Gean Ann Nichols, died in 1996.

William Blankenship
DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. — William Blankenship, 67, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at his home.
He was a demolition worker in Hopkinsville.
He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the Marines from 1951 through 1955.
He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Temple Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mary; three daughters, Wanda Jarvis of Dawson Springs, Elaine Oliver of Manchester, Tenn., and Peggy Blankenship of Andrews, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Sue Colemand of Rock Hill, S.C., and Peggy Trover of Dawson Springs; a son William Earl Jr. of Statesville, N.C.; four stepsons, Tony Johnson of Dawson Springs, Rodney and Rickey Johnson, both of Madisonville, and Donald Johnson of Earlington; his mother, Eula Hergis Murdaugh of Christian County; three brothers, James, Junior and John Fowler, all of Hopkinsville; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, Rickey Whited.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Missionary Baptist Temple, with burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. — Dorothy Lee Weaver, 67, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at Madisonville Regional Medical Center.
She had been a nurse’s aide.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Ann Sutton and Judy Faye Hopper, both of Dawson Springs, and Linda Sue Jones of Providence; three sons, David Wayne of Clay and Michael Junior and Bobby Dale, both of Dawson Springs; four sisters, Betty Clayton of White Plains, Linda Mason of Madisonville, Brenda Young and Wanda Evitts, both of Nebo; six brothers, Bobby and George Vincent, both of Nebo, Billy Ray Vincent of Manitou, Frankie Vincent of Providence, Carl Junior Vincent of Madisonville and Larry Vincent of Diamond; and 20 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Burton Weaver, in 1989 and a daughter.

ST. FRANCISVILLE, Ill. — Margaret E. McCormick, 85, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at Lawrenceville Manor Nursing Home.
She had been the co-owner of the Couch Insurance Agency in St. Francisville.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Women’s Club, both in St. Francisville.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Jane Blaase of Greenwood, Ind.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Frank, died in July.

McLEANSBORO, Ill. — Dorothy D. Smith, 92, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at McLeansboro Healthcare. She was Baptist.
She retired from the W.T. Grant Co. in Mansfield, Ohio, after 25 years.
Surviving are two daughters, Peggy Barr of McLeansboro and Betty Gordon of Waterford, Mich.; a sister, Madge Gernhardt of Newark, Ohio; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Paul.

CARMI, Ill. — J.C. Mehaffey, 90, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at the Wabash Christian Retirement Center.
He was the manager of the Mobil Oil Co. for 41 years.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Virginia (O’Brien); three sons, John of Eldorado, Kan., Mike and Jerry, both of Carmi; a sister, Nell Edwards of Lake Junaluska, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Kathleen Seeley, Patricia, Darren, Wesley and Patrick Mehaffey, Alex Whitlock and Rodney Wiethop; and two great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Jean Ann Whitlock, preceded him in death.

SHAWNEETOWN, Ill. — Eloise J. Miller, 85, of Harrisburg formerly of Ridgway and Shawneetown, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shawneetown.
Surviving are her husband, Carl J.; and two sisters, Rita Yokley of Florida, and Delores Freson of Huntingburg, Ind.
She was preceded in death by three husbands, George Fromm, Joe Fals and Zach Wood.

ROBINSON, Ill. — Elma Graham Morris, 97, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at the Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong.

Her husband, Edgar Ray Morris, died in 1974 and her twin sister, Velma Graham, preceded her in death.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

Lanoa E. Taylor, 89, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital.
During the ’50s, she worked as a cook at Deaconess Hospital.
She taught Sunday school, was a group captain in the Missionary Society, worked with the girls and boys missionary auxiliary. She was a member of the Evergreens at Grace Baptist Church and the Eastern Star Lodge 87.
Surviving are two daughters, Marcia Pressley of Newburgh and Carolyn Sue Durbin of McCutchanville; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Hollos, died in 1981 and a son, Kenneth, preceded her in death.

Her husband, the Rev. John A. Hand, died in 1997.

Ronald Uebelhor
FERDINAND, Ind. — Ronald R. Uebelhor, 67, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, as the result of a heart attack at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Huntingburg.
He was semiretired from Styline, where he had worked for 40 years. He was a veteran of the National Guard, serving from 1949 to 1958, and a member of American Legion Post 124, and former member of the Ferdinand Jaycees and Park Board. He worked with the Little League for 12 years.
Surviving are his wife, Jo Ann; two daughters, Christy Ferguson of Huntingburg and Tara Uebelhor of Plainfield; three sons, Curtis and Tracey, both of Ferdinand, and Brad of Newburgh; a sister, Arlita Hedinger of Jasper; and five grandchildren, Ryan, Sara and Lori Uebelhor and Jared and Sabrina Ferguson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

WASHINGTON, Ind. — David Clyde Mattingly, 53, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, of liver disease at the Veterans Hospital in Danville, Ill.
He was a farmer and served on the Washington Police Department for 17 years. He was an Air Force veteran and member of the American Legion.
He graduated in 1965 from Washington High School and attended St. Mary Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra (Waltz); a son, Jason of Indianapolis; a daughter, Bryn Hawkins of Crawfordsville; a brother, Frank T. of Washington; a sister; Glenda Van Ermen of Prattville, Ala.; and two grandchildren.

SEBREE, Ky. — James Basil Powell, 83, formerly of Sebree, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Country Side Place in Mishawaka, Ind.
He owned and operated Powell Service Station and worked for the street department of Mishawaka. He was an Army veteran.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Springdale Cemetery in Sebree.
