Erline Belwood
Erline L. (Reiter) Belwood, 77, of Evansville, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, of pneumonia at Deaconess Hospital.
She was a 1939 graduate of Central High School.
She and her late husband, William, who died in February, had traveled through most of the United Sates in a motor home.
She was a charter member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and enjoyed reading and quilting.
Surviving are four daughters, Patricia Johnson, Jenny Bunker, Linda Frankenberger and Karen Denton, all of Evansville; a son Michael of Evansville; a sister, Mary Lou Pickett of Evansville; 12 grandchildren, Vikki Francis, Stephen Johnson, Tad Bunker, Tara Blastick, Tracy Greene, Melissa Young, Daryl Frankenberger, Karrie Wicks, Kandas Denton and Matthew, Emily and Mary Belwood; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Browning Funeral Home, continuing at 10:30 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, the Rev. Ted Tempel officiating, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Clifford Kasinger
Clifford Leroy Kasinger, 72, of Evansville, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, of heart failure at Deaconess Hospital.
He retired from Geiger Moving & Storage Co. and had been a Teamster.
He was a Navy veteran.
Surviving are seven daughters, Connie Williams, Vickie Vessel, Rhonda Collins, Debra Ghormley, Toni Maroni and Cindy Kasinger, all of Evansville, and Sheryl LaMar of Eckerty, Ind.; two sons, George and Jeff, both of Evansville; four sisters, Delores Vogel, Rilla Jean Boyd, Emma Jean Koerber, and Betty Sue Richardt all of Evansville; two brothers, Terry Kasinger of Evansville and Budric Kasinger of Florida; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
His wife, Dorothy, died in 1990.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. Eugene Main officiating, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery, with military rites.

John Ferstel
John Henry Ferstel, 75, of Newburgh, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at his home.
He was a farmer.
Surviving are three sisters, Irene Limberger of Evansville, and Beatrice Duchworth and Helen Simpson, both of Newburgh.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in St. John’s Cemetery, the Rev. Tom Scholl officiating.
There will be no visitation at Simpson Meyer Funeral Home.

Paul McDaniels
Paul E. “Coach Mac” McDaniels, 81, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at the Evansville Protestant Home.
He had been a welder in the coal mines in the Winslow, Ind., area, and was a vocational teacher and football and baseball coach at North High School for 28 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a World War II Navy veteran.
He was a member of Crossroads Christian Church of Evansville, the Masonic Lodge of Winslow and Hadi Shrine of Evansville.
Surviving are a son, Wayne of Newburgh; two grandchildren, Lori Goforth of Inwood, W.Va.; and Bradley of La Grange, Ky.; and two great-grandchildren.
His wife, Myrl (Burlingame), died in 1993.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, Chaplain Charles Doughty officiating, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park Mausoleum, with military rites.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Lorena Sorensen
Lorena (Covey) Porter Sorensen, 70, of Evansville, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, of cancer at the home of her daughter, Debbie Fehrenbacher in St. Philip, Ind.
She had worked at Sears Roebuck and Co. for 15 years and Deaconess Hospital in patient transport.
Also surviving are three sisters, June Wallace of Anton, Texas, Mildred Chilton of Evansville and Dorothy Trainer of Fitchburg, Mass.; five brothers, Charles Covey of Lafayette, Ind., Darrell and Raymond Covey, both of Evansville, Rolland Covey of Fowler, Ind., and Melvin Covey of Tiro, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Andrea, Melissa and Traci Fehrenbacher and Bryan and Brandon Porter.
Her husband, Leo, died in 1994, and a son, Gregory Porter, died in 1998.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, the Revs. Janice Akers-Du Bois and Raymond Brenner officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Howard Roush
Howard H. Roush, 65, of Gallipolis, Ohio, father of Charmaine Sanford of Evansville, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, of a heart attack in Greensburg, Pa.
He had worked for the Bell Telephone Co. for 18 years, retired from the American Electric Power Co. in 1998 after 26 years and was working for the Maridan Construction Co. in Huntington, W. Va., as a field consultant.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and served in the Navy Reserve.
He was a member and past president of the Chrisney (Ind.) Lions Club and was instrumental in the organization of the Lions Club in Rockport, Ind.
Also surviving are his wife, Naomi (Wise); a daughter, Scarlet Drayer of Nashville, Tenn.; two sons, Ronnie of Shorewood, Ill., and Marty of Ovett, Miss.; a sister, Carolyn Erickson of Perrysburg, Ohio; a brother, Joe of Cheshire, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Cremeens Funeral Chapel in Gallipolis, the Rev. Alfred Holley officiating, with burial in the Pine Street Cemetery, with military rites.

Viola Schorr
Viola Schorr, 91, of Evansville, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at St. Mary’s Health Care Services/Welborn Campus.
She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ-Lippe and former member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ and member of the Quilters Club.
Surviving are three daughters, Virginia Litteral-Birdsong of Roswell, Md., Eleanor McRae of Poseyville, Ind., and Ruby Ostermann of Mount Vernon, Ind.; a son, Paul M. of Mount Vernon; a sister, Marie Buente of Darmstadt, Ind.; two brothers, Gilbert and Raymond Happe, both of Evansville; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Her husband, Paul H., died in 1992, after 60 years of marriage.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Zion United Church of Christ-Lippe in Mount Vernon, , the Rev. Kenneth Scherry officiating, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel and from noon to service time at the church.

Mary Porter
Mary Eileen Porter, 69, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, of a heart attack at her home.
She was an active member and eucharistic minister of St. Benedict Cathedral and a member of the Legion of Mary.
Surviving are a son, Bernie of Louisville, Ky.; and three grandchildren, Michelle, Christina and Michael Porter.
Her husband, Gurvice, died in 1972.
Services will be at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, continuing at 9 a.m. at St. Benedict Cathedral, the Revs. Harold Hammerstein and Joseph Ziliak officiating, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with a memorial service at 7 p.m.

Ethelreda Wolff
Ethelreda Wolff, 83, of Union, Ky., formerly of Evansville, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at Florence Park Care Center in Florence, Ky.
She was a member of Eastern Star and 43-year member of the McCutchanville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Sheila Rae Strahl of Evansville; a son, Robert D. of Union; two sisters, Generose Shanks of Fancy Farm, Ky., and Barbara Rose Chambliss of Seattle; two brothers, James Ollie Vessels of Bryant, Texas, and John Robert Vessels of Fancy Farm; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Robert F., died in 1972.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Robert Vester officiating, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Jennifer Smith
Jennifer S. Smith, 28, of Evansville, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at the Columbia Health Care as the result of a stroke.
Surviving are a daughter, Athena Smith of Evansville; her mother, Ellen Sisco of Evansville; three brothers, Brian, Joseph and Roger, all of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.

Donald Williams
MOUNT PLEASANT, Ind. — Donald Lee Williams, 70, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, from complications after heart surgery at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
He was a Perry County farmer.
He was an Army veteran, serving from 1953 to 1955.
He was a 1948 graduate of Oil Township High School and was a member of the Modern Woodman of America.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Anna (Hemingway); a daughter, Gail Williams of Palmyra; a son, Marty of Mount Pleasant; a brother, Nolan of Mount Pleasant; three grandchildren, Jason, Wes and Devin Williams; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Huber Funeral Home Cannelton Chapel, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Tell City.

James Kress
JASPER, Ind. — James E. Kress, 65, of Indianapolis, formerly of Jasper, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis.
He retired as a manager for Eli Lilly in Indianapolis.
Surviving are a daughter, Jamie Regan of Carmel; a brother, Father Robert Kress of Louisville; and two grandchildren, Hugh and Tricia Regan.
His wife, Patricia (Uebelhor), died in 1991.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Lorraine Stinnett
BICKNELL, Ind. — Lorraine Stinnett, 74, of Sumner, formerly of Bicknell, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are two sons, Larry of Vincennes and Gregory of Saudi Arabia; a brother, Paul Barnes of Bicknell; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A son, Steve, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the McClure Funeral Home, with burial in Bicknell Memorial Cemetery.

G. Winton Palmer
BICKNELL, Ind. — G. Winton Palmer 83, of Wheatland, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.
He had been a farmer and had worked for the Farm Bureau.
He was a member of Wheatland Christian Church, Scottish Rite of Evansville, Knox County Farm Bureau and Soil Conservationist, District Livestock Producers and was a 50-year member of Monroe City Masonic Lodge, .
He was a 1936 graduate of Wheatland High School.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Fern; a daughter, Alice Held of Freelandville; a son, Larry of rural Wheatland; a sister, Maxine Overbay of rural Wheatland; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McClure Funeral Home, with burial in Bethel Cemetery in Freelandville.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.

Ricky Smith
MOUNT VERNON, Ind. — Ricky R. Smith, 44, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, of cancer at his home.
He had worked at Keck Ford in Mount Vernon and was a member of the Mount Vernon General Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Erin Smith of Mount Vernon; a son, Zachary of Mount Vernon; two sisters, Kathy Krallman of Bristol, Ind., and Sherri Bolenbaugh of Elkhart, Ind.; and his grandmother, Wilma Smith.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Mount Vernon General Baptist Church.
There will be no visitation at Boone Funeral Home Mount Vernon Chapel.

Shirley Devillez
TELL CITY, Ind. — Shirley Carl Devillez, 69, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
He had worked for Western Southern Life Insurance Co. and the Shelly and Sands Construction Co.
He was an Army veteran, serving in Japan, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939.
He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Thelma; three daughters, Shelia Hanks of Nashville, Tenn., Linda Luker of Evansville and Cindy Goffinet of Evanston; three sons, Steve of Evansville, Scott of Tell City and Larry of Santa Claus; a sister, Evelyn Barney of Greenwood; and seven grandchildren, Derek, Brent and Jessica Devillez, Olivia Baker, Rachel and Kelly Goffinet and Hope Qin Luker.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Joyce Hill
GLENVILLE, Ky. — Joyce Bivens Hill, 57, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at her home of cancer.
She was a member of the Glenville Baptist Church and the church choir.
She enjoyed cross stitching, cake decorating and ceramics.
Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Johnnie D. Sr., a daughter, Melinda Work of Glenville; two sons, Johnnie D. Jr. of Slaughters and Dennis L. of Glenville; four sisters, Ann Scott of Glenville, Shirlene Dant of Elba, Sandy Donahoo of Calhoun and Bonnie Bivens of Owensboro; two brothers, Ronnie and Donnie, both of Utica; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Muster Funeral Home Calhoun Chapel, with burial in Glenville Baptist Cemetery in Daviess County.

Travis Bridwell
POOLE, Ky. — Travis “Monk” Bridwell, 65, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, of a heart attack at Ellsworth County (Kan.) Medical Center.
He had been a farmer.
He was a member of the Hadi Shrine, Henderson Moose, Elks, and Masonic Lodge and the American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred; three daughters, Cathy Blanford, Susan Hughes and Tammy Bridwell, all of Poole; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home Henderson Chapel, with burial in Shady Grove Cemetery in Poole.

Wendell Hatcher Sr.
OWENSBORO, Ky. — Wendell G. Hatcher Sr., 58, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was Baptist.
He retired as an auto body repairman.
He was a NASCAR fan, enjoyed bluegrass music and bowling.
Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Carol Reynolds of Albany, Ga.; three sons, Wendell G. Jr. of Owensboro and Michael Allen and Gregory Neil, both of Albany; his mother, Elizabeth Willoughby Hatcher; three sisters, Peggy Wilson, Laura McPherson and Sherril Coleman, all of Owensboro; three brothers, Carl of Utica and Billy Ray and Jimmy, both of Owensboro; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the James H. Davis Funeral Home, with burial in Resurrection Cemetery.

Thomas Cornwell
HENDERSON, Ky. — Thomas Louis Cornwell, 82, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at Medco Nursing Center of Henderson.
Surviving are a daughter, Gladys Cornwell of Corydon; three sisters, Lois Cook and Lola Greenwell, both of Henderson and Martha Pearl Westbrook of Pearcy, Ark.; and nieces and nephews.
His wife, Sybil (Turley), died in 1996.

UNIONTOWN, Ky. — Mary Elizabeth Cruse, 82, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at Methodist Hospital in Morganfield.
Surviving are three sisters, Lucile McGuire of Uniontown, Christine Berry of Mount Vernon, Ind., and Alice Gray of Danville, Ill.; three brothers, John Grundy of Mount Vernon, James Grundy of Louisville and William Grundy of Danville; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Thomas Shields
MARION, Ky. — Thomas Allen Shields, 20, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at St. Mary’s Health Care Service/Welborn Campus. Cause of death is pending Vanderburgh County coroner’s investigation.
Surviving are his parents, Robert and Cheryl Shields of Warsaw, a sister, Sommer Theres Shields of Warsaw; a brother, Tim Michael of Warsaw; and grandparents, Robert T. Shields, Herman Partain and Bonnie Steele.
Memorial services will be at noon Tuesday at Gilbert Funeral Home, the body will be cremated.

Janice Davis
HENDERSON, Ky. — Janice L. Davis, 65, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at Methodist Hospital.
She was a quilter and cross stitcher.
Surviving are her husband of 15 years, Leonard J.; five daughters, Martina Mease of Chesterfield, Va., Penny Mulligan and Debbie Bedinger, both of Tacoma, Wash., Sandra Davis of Orlando, Fla., and Sherry Crew of Sylvester, Ga.; three sons, Robert Bush of Renton, Wash., Larry Harper of Tacoma and Leonard D. Davis of Orlando; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Thurman Gammon
WAYNE CITY, Ill. — Thurman J. Gammon, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Ill.
He was a farmer, owned a sawmill and trained thoroughbred horses.
He was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church and the United Thoroughbred Association.
Surviving are his wife, Adeline; a daughter, Christine Rainwater of Wayne City; two sons, Jerald and Larry, both of Wayne City; four sisters, Wanda McCormick of Wayne City, Katherine Forth of Carlyle, Ill., Vernice Hall of Nashville, Ill., and Frances Hopper of Fairfield; a brother, Dwight of Beckemeyer; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a daughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Olive Branch Baptist Church, with burial in Olive Branch Cemetery.

Infant Alexander Glenn
ST. FRANCISVILLE, Ill. — Alexander Ethan Glenn, three-day-old son of Adam and Michele Glenn of St. Francisville, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis from complication since birth.
Also surviving are grandparents, Michael and Marsha Sechrest and Lester L. and Corita Glenn; and great-grandparents.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no visitation at Smith Funeral Home in Lawrenceville.
