Mildred Barnes
Mildred Pfafflin Barnes, 78, formerly of Newburgh, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at Doctor’s Hospital in Sarasota, Fla., of complications of hip surgery.
She retired from Pfafflin’s Lake, a recreational area her family had owned and operated in Newburgh. She had worked at the Evansville Shipyard during World War II and Eastern Airlines.
She was a member of the Newburgh Presbyterian Church, Jaycee Wives, Aquamaids of Evansville and the Newburgh Women’s Club.
She was a graduate of Newburgh High School.
Surviving are a daughter, Cindy Barnes of Sarasota; a son, Jeff of Gulf Port, Fla.; two grandchildren, Emily and John Barnes; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Simpson’s Funeral Home in Newburgh, with no graveside service. Cremation will be in Sarasota with no service.

Phillip Frazier
Phillip E. Frazier, 71, of Evansville, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of an aneurysm.
He had been the branch manager for Reid-Holcomb Co. for 30 years, had worked for Evansville Electric and was currently working part time for the Evansville Courier & Press.
He was a 35-year member, past president of the U.S. Sunday School Class and was on the Project Love board of the Central United Methodist Church, and served on the administrative council, executive administrative council, pastor staff parish committee and the worship committee.
He was an Army veteran in the Polar Bear Squadron and member of the Eagles.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Dorothy (Williamson); four sons, Scott of Indianapolis, Gary of Newburgh and Greg and Garth, both of Evansville; his father, Paul Frazier of Indianapolis; a sister, Miriam Sloo of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Makenzie, Braidy, Jason and Janae Frazier; and nieces.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. C. Mac Hamon officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.

Marrion Jeanette Raj, 66, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at her home of cancer.
She was beautician and Realtor for Don Lee Realty in Newburgh.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Judith Randalyn Raj of Bloomington, Ind.; a son, Joseph Scott of Germany; a brother, Gene Kaiser of Visalia, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Kirstin, Hunter and Katrina Raj.

William Robertson
William L. Robertson, 68, brother of Mary Lou Klein of Evansville, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at his home in Speedway, Ind. of liver failure.
He had been an electronics instructor for 23 years, retiring in 1989 from ITT Technical Institute.
He was a Korean War Air Force veteran and member of the Scottish Rite.
Also surviving are his wife, June (Sterne); two daughters, Sally A. and Susan Robertson, both of Indianapolis; a son, William L. Jr. of Indianapolis; a sister, Linda Pearcy of Speedway; a brother, Carl Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
Services were private, with burial in Floral Park West Cemetery in Indianapolis.
Dorothy Brown
Dorothy Ellen Brown, 87, of Evansville, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Holiday Health Care.
She retired from Welborn Hospital as a nurse’s aide in the pediatric unit.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a charter member of the Deaconess Hospital Helping Hand.
Surviving are three sons, James S. of Crown Point, Ind., Denis of Westford, Mass., and Robert L. of Evansville; three sisters, Carolyn Drury and Betty Wood, both of Henderson, Ky., and Edith Martin of Evansville; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Tyrone Garrett, 50, of Selmer, Tenn., formerly of Evansville, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at Jackson General Hospital of heart failure.
Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Ina; two daughters, Tiffany Finnie of Selmer, and Charmaine Garrett of Evansville; two sons, Tyrone J. and Stacey, both of Evansville; six sisters, Gloria Garrett-Stewart and Deborah Garrett-Willett, both of Evansville, Carole Garrett-Culver of Gary, Ind., Rose Garrett-Rountree of Alexandria, Va., Jutton Garrett-Causley of Milwaukee, and Sharries Garrett of Indianapolis; and five brothers, Ernest of Indianapolis, Jefferey of Evansville and Charles, Gary and Anthony, all of Milwaukee.

Andrew Sogan
Andrew “Andy” Sogan, 79, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital of complications of diabetes. He retired as a steel worker and had worked on the Panama Canal and at the Great Lakes.
He was an Army veteran. He was Catholic.
Surviving are two sisters, Margaret Taylor and Veronica Tokarczyk, both of Lorain, Ohio; and a brother, Martin of Lorain, Ohio.

Belva Faught
VINCENNES, Ind. — Belva Jean Faught, 71, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at her home of cancer.
She retired as chief operator for Indiana Bell Telephone.
She was a member and deaconess of the First Christian Church, member of Telephone Pioneers, Ladies of the Elks in Lake Placid, Fla., and Eastern Star in Sebring, Fla.
Surviving are her husband, Leander John; three sisters, Lura Lee Durham and Ruth Ann McClure, both of Vincennes, and Judith Beard of St. Francisville, Ill.; and a brother, Robert Fleenor of Lawrenceville, Ill.

Dr. Donald Bartlett
VINCENNES, Ind. — Dr. Donald Talmage Bartlett, 74, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis of cancer.
He was an obstetrician and gynecologist in private practice in Vincennes since 1957. He was the Knox County deputy health commissioner.
He was a World War II Navy Seabee veteran, serving in the Fourth Battalion and active in the Fourth Battalion Association.
He attended Ball State University and graduated from Indiana University Medical School, interning at Indianapolis General and Coleman hospitals.
He was a member of the Knox County and Indiana Medical Societies, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, life member of the National Reining Horse Association, American Quarter Horse Association and National Cutting Horse Association.
Surviving are his wife, Elisabeth; a daughter, Ann Bartlett Hannoy of Indianapolis; a son, Dr. Timothy Bartlett; six grandchildren, McKenzie and Carson Smith, Kelsey and Talmage Bartlett and Grace and Claudia Hannoy.
Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Friday at Goodwin Funeral Home, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Willow Keller
DUBOIS, Ind. — Willow A. Keller, 84, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper of a stroke.
He retired from the Jasper Table Co., had worked at the Indiana Desk Co. and operated a farm.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville and the Shoals, Hickory Grove and Dubois Community clubs.
Surviving are his wife, Helena; a daughter, Doris Mae Salmon of Dubois; two sons, Eugene H. of Indianapolis and Kenneth L. of Jasper; a sister, Elfrieda Kieffner of Haysville; a brother, Lester of Jasper; six grandchildren; and a great grandson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Darlene Keller and a son Darrell.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville, with burial in the church cemetery.

BICKNELL, Ind. — Thelma A. Jamison, 91, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at her home.
She had worked at Tresslar Store in Petersburg.
She was a member of Bicknell First Christian Church, Co-Workers Sunday School Class and Royal Neighbors of America Lodge.
Surviving are two daughters, Jane Stremming of Bicknell and Martha Lou Myers of Vincennes; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Ralph W., died in 1994.

CANNELTON, Ind. — Malinda M. (Jarboe) Bolin, 95, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at the Beverly Health Care in Tell City.
She retired as a nurse’s aide from the Perry County Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and former member of the Women’s Guild.
Surviving are four daughters, Geneva Burst of Colorado Springs, Colo., Evelyn Hammack of Cannelton, Ruby Hess of Fort Colins, Colo., and Faye Schroeder of Henryville; three sons, Paul of Red Bluff, Calif., Richard of Fort Collins and Frank of Cannelton; 21 grandchildren, Rusty, Linda, Mike, Greg and Todd Bolin, Charlene, Bill and Jeff Burst, Karen Finch, Donna Dupont, Kathy Glenn, Michelle Lautner, Stacy Franks, Lois Younie, Pat Hess, Dana Cronin, Leslie Spence, Bill and Eric Schroeder, Kristi White and Suzy Nugent; 41 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Frank, died in 1950 and two sons, Earl and Russell, preceded her in death.

He was a truck driver for Emge Packing Co.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oblates of St. Benedict and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He received the Simon Brute Award in 1990.

OWENSBORO, Ky. — William Raymond Whitfield Jr., 72, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at Owensboro Mercy Health System of congestive heart failure.
He retired as an airplane mechanic from Million Air and had been a charter pilot for Owensboro Aviation.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving on the USS Bristol.
He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Edna; a daughter, Jennifer Whitfield Thurman of Owensboro; a son, Brian of Lexington; four granddaughters, Kyndal and Hanna Whitfield and Jessica and Hallie Thurman; and nieces and nephews.

CLAY, Ky. — Agatha Iline Harris, 85, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at the Senior Citizen Nursing Home in Madisonville. She was Baptist. She had been a cook and waitress at Ferrell’s in Madisonville.
Surviving are three daughters, Betty Felker, Linda Gibson and Carolyn Gupton, all of Clay; two sons, Robert Richardson of Nashville, Tenn., and Larry of Clay; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Richard Lee, died in 1960 and a daughter Patricia Ann Harris and two sons Robert Lee and Harold Raymond, all preceded her in death.

He retired from the Veterans Hospital in Louisville, after 30 years.
He was a World War II Army veteran and member of the Newburgh Baptist Church in Louisville.
Surviving are three daughters, Juanita Morse of Corydon, Ky., Gail Turner of Louisville and Patricia Turner of Atlanta; four sons, Andrew III of Louisville, Cedric of New York, and Ken and Dr. Roger Turner, both of Houston; six sisters, Lucille Frost of Louisville, Neil Suggs of Detroit, Gladys Weaver of St. Louis, Pauline Eldridge of Henderson, Alma Harris of Jeffersonville, Ind., and Lorine Williams of Evansville; two brothers, Clarence and Hilton, both of Detroit; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
His wife, Mary (Clay), died in 1968.

PRINCETON, Ky. — Larry Son, 50, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at the Veterans Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., of liver disease.
He was a truck driver for Son Logging, a family owned business. He was a Vietnam War veteran and lifetime member of the Cedar Bluff Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Sue; a daughter, Sherry Noel of Caldwell County; a sister, Nancy Carstens of Murray; four brothers, Billy, Richard and Johnny, all of Caldwell County, and Randy of Hopkins County; two stepgrandchildren, Noelle and Jamey Noel; and nieces and nephews.

He had been the Hamilton County commissioner. He retired as a road-grader operator. Surviving are four sons, Harrison Edward of Norris City, Charles Lee of South Pekin and Lemual Dean and Billy John, both of Pekin; a brother, Howard of Norris City; three grandchildren, Jamie and Amber McMahon and John Allen; and his companion, Sylvia Allen of Norris City.

James W. “Bill” Greenfield, 78, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at his home of cancer.
He was Baptist. He retired as a switchman from the L&N and CSX railroads, after more than 30 years, in 1982 and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
He was a World War II Army veteran, the recipient of five Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, Victory Medal and Bronze Arrowhead and member of American Legion and life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Annabelle (Reed); a daughter, Donnella A. Hall of Evansville; three sons, William R. of San Antonio, Timothy V. and Mark A., both of Evansville; a sister, Dorothy Blueberg of Ocala, Fla.; six grandchildren, Derek, Keith, Seth and Timothy Greenfield, Kelly Davis, and Harry W. Clark III; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was a Vietnam War Navy veteran, serving as a petty officer on the USS Greenlet and served in the Evansville Naval Reserve.
He was a member of Nativity Catholic Church and a graduate of the University of Southern Indiana.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Fran; two sons, Gregg and Michael, both of Newburgh; his mother, Cleo Cowan of Evansville; a sister, Sue Dearmond of Evansville; and two brothers, Douglas of Stow, Ohio and John of Nashville, Tenn.
