HUNTINGBURG, Ind. — Gerald Allen Goldman, 57, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, west of Huntingburg from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He worked for Jasper Engines and Transmissions.
He retired from the Navy.
Surviving are his wife, Cindy; a daughter, Christiana Greenblatt of White Lake, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Stacy Ocampo and Becky Spence, both of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, Michael of Bloomington; his parents, Gerald A. and Goldie Goldman of Sellersburg; a brother, Jerry D. of Henryville; a grandchild; and two stepgrandchildren.
The body will be cremated and there will be a gathering to visit with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. EST Thursday at Nass & Son Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Dubois County Humane Society.

Cecil Burris
WASHINGTON, Ind. — Cecil B. Burris, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Washington Nursing Center.
He retired from the B&O Railroad as a maintenance welder.
He was a World War II Army veteran and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, York Rite and Hadi Shrine.
Surviving are a daughter, Sherry Nelson of Rochester, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Virginia Cresay of Washington; two stepsons, Donald Clark of Chicago and Kenneth Clark of Odon; two sisters, Lillian Burkhart of Washington and Marie Baker of Nashville, Ind.; three brothers, Wilbur, Kenneth and Harold, all of Washington; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. EST Thursday at Gill Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, with military rites.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a Masonic service at 6 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Charles Ludwig
TELL CITY, Ind. — Charles Ludwig, 80, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at Good Samaritan Home in Evansville.
He had worked at General Electric in Tell City and retired from the General Electric plant in Owensboro, Ky.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, member of the American Legion Post 213, Moose, Masonic Lodge and the Evangelical United Church of Christ.
Surviving are a sister, Alberta Hooe of Evansville; a brother, Louis of Tell City; and a niece who cared for him, Sharon Broadhead of Poseyville.
His wife, Grace, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 3 p.m. EST Thursday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 1 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church benevolent fund.

PRINCETON, Ky. — Gerald Jones, 58, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Caldwell County Hospital.
He was a farmer and a veteran of the Army reserves.
He was a member of White Sulphur Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Martha; two daughters, Laura McKinney and Dana Cummins, both of Caldwell County; two sisters, Judy George and Jewell Forsythe, both of Caldwell County; a brother, Joe Jones of Caldwell County; three grandchildren, Audree and Tabor Cummins and Bryce McKinney; and nieces and a nephew.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Morgan’s Funeral Home, with burial in Meeks Cemetery.

Ida Hicks
LIVERMORE, Ky. — Ida Fulkerson Hicks, 84, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at the Owensboro Mercy Health System.
She was a member of the Richland Baptist Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Bonnie Fulkerson, Jean Burden, Mary Ann Hicks, all of Livermore, and Martha Howard of Calhoun; five sons, Doug, Hub, W.E., Charles and Mike, all of Livermore; 16 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
Her husband, Orville, and a daughter, Lona, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Muster Funeral Home, with burial in Pleasant Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Melvin Wadlington
MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Melvin O. Wadlington, 79, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Madisonville Regional Medical Center of scleroderma.
He operated Wadlington's Cafe for 37 years and had owned Chateau Park from 1933 to 1989.
He was a World War II Navy veteran.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Nina (Holley); a daughter, Cindy L. Luck of Hanson; two sons, Harry of Manitou and Holley of Madisonville; a sister, Juanita Badgett of Madisonville; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to noon at Harris Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. to service time at the church.

O.H. Beck
SMITH MILLS, Ky. — O.H. Beck, 87, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at his home.
He was a farmer and carpenter.
He was a member of the Geneva Methodist Church.
Surviving are five sons, Walter and Steve, both of Smith Mills, and Tony, David and Johnnie, all of Henderson; four sisters, Scarlett Herron, Linda Fulkerson and Catherine Newman, all of Henderson, and Naomi Harris of Indiana; four brothers, Calvin, Alvin, Pete and Larry, all of Henderson; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, with burial in Smith Mills Cemetery.

James Wiggins
MADISONVILLE, Ky. — James Edward “J.E.” Wiggins, 73, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at his home.
He was an iron worker and member of the Madison Avenue Holiness Church.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Mary; three sisters, Betty Thurby of Denver, Norma Todd of Madisonville and Eva Cobb of Owensboro; a brother, Leslie of Sacramento; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, with entombment in Forest Lawn Memorial Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from noon to service time at the funeral home.

Mary Yokel
ALBION, Ill. — Mary Yokel, 74, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at Rest Haven Nursing Home from pneumonia.
She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Mount Carmel.
Surviving are her husband, Robert W.; two daughters, Evelyn Rivenbark of Palm Bay, Fla., and Teresa Robinson of Olney; two sons, Robert D. of Albion and Gerald Roberts of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Mildred Conover and Margaret Nevius, both of Mattoon; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ingram Funeral Home, with burial in West Village Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Jon Lee
BRIDGEPORT, Ill. — Jon Grant Lee, 40 died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at his home. The Lawrence County coroner attributed the death to natural causes.
He had been a fireman for the Bridgeport Fire Protection District and worked for the Mid American Air Center.
He was a member of the Assembly of God and the Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are a son, Jon Douglas of Bridgeport; and a sister, Terri Schultz of Lawrenceville.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bridgeport City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Cunningham Funeral Home.

Herbert Grimes
Herbert Grimes, 56, of Evansville, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of heart failure.
He worked as an engineer for Bethlehem Steel in Burns Harbor, Ind., retiring after 27 years.
He was a National Guard Reserve veteran.
He had attended Lincoln High School.
He was a sportsman and enjoyed navigating on the Great Lakes and the Ohio River.
Surviving are two daughters, Marvetta Kyenola Grimes of Indianapolis and Sha Ron Rachelle Grimes of Michigan City, Ind.; his mother, Margaret Grimes of Evansville; four sisters, Barbara Ann Arnold of Detroit, Linda Faye Watson of Evansville, Phyllis June Grimes of Gilbert, Ariz., and A. Demitra Savage of Tempe, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the New Hope Baptist Church, the Rev. W.R. Brown Jr. and the Rev. W.R. Brown Sr. officiating, with entombment in the Alexander Memorial Park Mausoleum
Friends may call from noon to service time at the church. Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Marvin Sanders
Marvin L. Sanders, 77, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at his home from a heart condition.
He had been a horse trainer for more than 30 years.
Surviving are a sister, Fanny Mae Merrick of Newburgh; and nephews who cared for him, Ronald P. Frantz of Oakland City, Ind., and Raymond Frantz of Newburgh.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Maurine Wallace
Maurine (Overfield) Wallace, 83, formerly of Evansville, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at her home in Champaign, Ill.
She retired as a school librarian of the Rossville and Fisher school systems.
She was a 1934 graduate of Central High School, 1938 graduate of the University of Evansville and received her master’s degree in library science from the University of Illinois.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Champaign, Gamma Epsilon Sigma sorority, Phi Beta Chi honorary science fraternity, Who’s Who of American Women and Daughters of American Colonists. She was an officer of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was elected to Beta Phi Mu honorary.
Surviving are a son, Alan Wallace of Midlothian, Ill.; a sister, Eileen Stoltz of Largo, Fla.; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Charles Edward, died in 1982.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m Monday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville, the Rev. Daniel R. Durell officiating. There will be no public visitation at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.

Charles Brown
Charles W. Brown, 51, formerly of Evansville, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at his home in Griffin, Ind., of cancer.
He had worked at Zenith before moving to Dallas were he was a self-employed industrial electrician.
Surviving are his wife, Amelia (Rieber); a stepdaughter, Stephanie Smith-Montgomery of Hazelton; a sister, Marty Stewart of Columbus, Ohio; three stepgrandchildren, Maya Smith and Kyle and Levi Montgomery; nieces and a nephew.
Services are pending at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel in Evansville. There will be no visitation.

Paul Murphy
Paul W. Murphy, 84, of Evansville, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Holiday Health Care Center.
He was a self-employed paper hanger, retiring in 1988.
He was a World War II Navy veteran and member of the Charles Denby Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2953.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Hazel (Miller); a son, Wallace N. of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, continuing at 1 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Rev. Henry Kuykendall officiating, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, with military rites.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Jo Ann Mitchell
Jo Ann E. Mitchell, 69, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, in Evansville, from a stroke.
She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114 Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed flower gardening.
Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn Tyring of Evansville; three sons, Gary of Chicago and Keith and Jeff, both of Evansville; and seven grandchildren, Ryan, Alisha, Erika, Jeffrey, Brittany, Haley and Chelsea Mitchell.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. Bret Nicholson officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Edward Abel
Edward M. Abel, 85, of Evansville, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at his home.
He retired from the Evansville Courier in 1976 after 16 years.
He attended the Indiana School of the Deaf.
He was on the advisory board for the Resource Agency for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and a member of the National Fraternal Society of the Deaf.
He was a member of the Eastview Community Church of Nazarene, and the Olde Tyme Auto Club.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Beulah; a daughter, Deeadra Cook of Boonville; a brother, Charles of Evansville; two grandchildren, Jamie and Scott Cook; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at noon Saturday in Alexander Memorial Park, the Rev. David Edwards officiating.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time at Alexander Memorial Park Heritage Chapel.

Frederick Brandenberger
Frederick William Brandenberger, 94, of Evansville, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at his home.
In 1931 he began his career at National City Bank of Evansville as a collection teller and retired in 1970 as an assistant to the vice president. He taught American Institute of Banking classes in mortgage lending and principles of bank operations at the Evansville College night school and lectured on all phases of banking at the Evansville high schools. He had taught Dale Carnegie classes in the Evansville area.
He was a 1923 graduate of Central High School and held a graduate certificate from the American Institute of Banking.
He was a member of the Rotary Club, Evansville Chamber of Commerce and he was a tenor in the Chancel Choir.
He was an elder, teacher and superintendent of the Bethlehem United Church of Christ school, was a lay minister for the Indiana-Kentucky Conference and had served as treasurer of the conference and was a member of the board of directors and treasurer of the Merom Institute.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, May Elizabeth; a daughter, Bethalee J. Harpst of Shaker Heights, Ohio; a sister, Gladys Kuhlenschmidt of Evansville; two grandchildren, Lynnelle Harpst Tanner and Tamara Lee Harpst; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, the Revs. Gerald Schuessler and Larry Miller officiating, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel and from 9 a.m. to service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church for the study of the ministry.

Zina McManaway
Zina V. McManaway, 85, formerly of Hawesville, Ky., sister of Everett Veach of Evansville, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at Heartland Villa in Lewisport, Ky.
She was a member of the Patesville Baptist Church.
Also surviving are three daughters, Zella Nugent of Lewisport, Dorothy Kerner of Greenwood, Ind., and Brenda Spivey of Greenfield, Ind.; two sons, Leonard and Joe, both of Hawesville; two sisters, Clara Wheatley of Lewisport and Susie Walters of Westfield, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Wilbur, and an infant son, Kenneth Ray, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville, Ky., with burial in Cloverport Cemetery.

Ruth Lambert
VINCENNES, Ind. — Ruth Lambert, 43, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. She had hepatitis.
She was a member of the First Christian Church.
Surviving is her father, Virgil Lambert of Vincennes.
Services will be at 3:15 p.m. EST today in the Mount Carmel Cemetery in Mount Carmel, Ill.

Henrietta Switzer
TELL CITY, Ind. — Henrietta E. Switzer, 89, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital in Huntingburg.
She had worked at several furniture factories for 50 years.
She was a member of the Berean Baptist Church.
Surviving are a stepdaughter, Ruth Kuiper of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a stepson, Clay Switzer of Evansville; a brother, Ed Euer of Grandview; a stepgrandson, Michael Switzer; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces.
Her husband, Albert, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Saturday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Grace Johnson
WINSLOW, Ind. — Grace E. Johnson, 91, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at Wirth Regional Hospital.
She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church in Pike County.
Surviving are three stepsons, George E. Johnson of Petersburg, Arbutus Reed of Algiers, Ind., and Jerry Johnson of Bowman; a sister, Olive Woods of Winslow; three granddaughters, Brenda Buehler, Beverly Seivers and Deborah Murphy; five stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; stepgreat-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Edison, and a son, Jim Quiggins, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Saturday at the Pleasant Ridge Church, with burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

FORT BRANCH, Ind. — Cathryn R. “Kitty” Bent, 73, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at her home after a long respiratory illness.
She was a member of the Fort Branch First Presbyterian Church and past member of the Gibson County Art Guild.
Surviving are her husband, Charles; two daughters, Dawn Lindauer of Fort Branch and Carol Ferguson of Petersburg; two sons, Darryl of Raymore, Mo., and Bill of Fort Branch; a sister, Edith Knippel of Savoy, Ill., and Meda Ballard of Evansville; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Stodghill Funeral Home, with burial in Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Harold Held
GRANDVIEW, Ind. — Harold O. Held, 85, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
He had been a farmer and distributor for the Marathon Oil Co. He was a member of Grandview United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Helen; two daughters, Alice DeLuca of Owensboro, Ky., and Ruthann Held of Grandview; a son, John of Princeton; a sister, Ruth Davis of Rockport; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with burial in Grandview Cemetery.
