George E. Strother Jr. of Pompton Lakes died February 19, 2005 at the Dwelling Place at St. Clare’s Hospital/Dover. He was 89. Born on February 27, 1915 in Toledo, OH, he was the youngest of four children. When he was six moths old, his family moved to Vineland, NJ where he lived for 40 years prior to moving to Pompton Lakes, NJ. A graduate of Vineland High School in 1934, he began his career with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in 1940 as an agent. In 1955, he was promoted to District Manager moving to Pompton Lakes where he has resided for the past 50 years. At age 54, he graduated from the American College with a Charter Life Underwriter Degree. After 32 years with MetLife, he retired in 1972. Following his retirement, he pursued his second career with the First National Bank of Passaic County (now Wachovia Bank) in Wayne, NJ. He retired from the West Milford branch as a loan officer after six years. He is a member of the MetLife Veterans Association/Field; Vineland Masonic Lodge # 69; served as a Vineland Volunteer Fireman in Pioneer Company; and was a member of the Vineland Historical Society. An avid fisherman, gardener, cherry picker, pie maker, baseball and softball fan, his greatest pleasures were in watching and participating in the many of activities of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Laura (Lawrence) Strother; two sons, George III and his wife Patricia of Denville, Larry and his wife, Joan of Newfoundland, one daughter, Diane Rowen and her husband, George of Oakridge; 12 grandchildren, George Strother IV of Denville, Wendy Perrault of Rockaway, Amy Gray of Old Bridge, Philip Strother of Center Sandwich, NH, Jeff Rowen of Glenwood, Jennifer Hark of Augusta, George Rowen Jr. of Franklin, Christopher Rowen of Oakridge, Lindsay, Brandon, Brett and Chad Strother of Newfoundland, and 15 great grandchildren. He was a self-employed/owner of Oil Filter Specialty of Mahwah, NJ for 30 years as a supplier/distributor of truck engine parts. Mr. Tabbals was a member and former President of the Monroe Golf Club of Monroe, NY and former member and President of the Mahwah, NJ School Board and was instrumental in the renovations of schools and the building of the high school. He was also a veteran serving in the US Army. Mary Van Allen (Westphal), 86, a retired switchboard operator for Bell Atlantic, Paterson died Monday, May 16, 2005 in Tuscon, Arizona. Ms. Van Allen lived in Tuscon, Arizona for 2 years and was previously from Hamburg, NJ. She is survived by her son , Ronald Van Allen, Sr. and his wife, Sue, of Tuscon, Grandchildren, Ronald Van Allen, Jr., his wife, Dianna, Todd Van Allen and a Great-granddaughter Tara Marie Van Allen. She was preceded in death by her brother Harry Westphal, (1989). She was born June 11, 1918 in Paterson, NJ the daughter of Henry and Margaret (Johnson) Westphal. Francis J. Van Allen, 73, a retired mechanic for Owens Illinois, died Sunday, July 10, 2005 at his home in Liberty Township, Ohio. Mr. Van Allen lived in Liberty Township, Ohio for 8 years and was previously from Wayne. He is survived by Douglas VanAllen (Son) of Franklin, NJ, Sandra Roche (Daughter) OH, Karen Van Allen (Daughter) of Riverdale, NJ, Donald Van Allen (Brother), PA, Eleanor Peterson (Sister) of Wayne, NJ. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean (Cahill,1988). He was born September 12, 1931 in Paterson, New Jersey the son of Francis and Eleanor (Van Lavender) Van Allen. Josephine M. Van Der Bogart (Russo), age 73, died Saturday, July 16, 2005 at Chilton Memorial Hospital, Pompton Plains. Born in Passaic, she lived in Westwood before moving to West Milford 42 years ago. She was a school bus driver for the West Milford school system for 25 years prior to retiring. She was a member of the West Milford Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her daughter Jane Van Der Bogart of West Milford, four sons Craig of Texas, David of Boonton Township, Richard of Florida, and Stephen of California. One brother, Morris Russo of Clifton and eight grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband, Glen in 1992. Funeral service Thursday, July 21 at 10 A.M. at the West Milford Presbyterian Church. Interment

Theodore A. Wolf Jr. age 47, died on Saturday September 4, 2004 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown after a long illness. Born in Newton, he was a resident of West Milford for 37 years moving here from Woodridge, NJ. Mr. Wolf was a self employed computer consultant working in computer security for many years. He attended County College of Morris where he attained an Associates Degree. Mr. Wolf was a member of New Jersey Search & Rescue, National Association of Search & Rescue, National Association of EMT’s, Vice President - 17th District – New Jersey State First Aid Council, chief instructor for the West Milford Twp. First Aid Squad, Coordinator for Skywarn NWS Skywarn for Passaic, NJ, life member of the American Radio Relay League (A.R.R.L.), Director Radio Amateur Telecommunications Society (R.A.T.S.), member of the Amateur Satellite Corporation (AMSAT), active participant in Internet Societal Task Force Privacy WG, active participant in The Internet Engineering Task Force, and a member of the International Computer Security Association. Mr. Wolf is survived by his wife, the former Sandra L. (nee Benjamin) Wolf Jr., two sons, Theodore A. III and Sean Michael, his parents, Theodore A. and Nancy A (Rutan) Wolf Sr. of Florida, one brother, William T. Wolf of Dingman, PA, one sister, Nancy J. Moore of Palm Bay, FL.
