Mr. Harold Richard Currier III, of Bristol passed away Tuesday evening, September 20, 2005 in Blountstown. Mr. Currier was born in Fort Gordon, Georgia and had had lived in Bristol for many years. He was retired from the Florida Department of Transportation and was also retired from the US Army National Guard after serving for 26 years.

Mr. Winston Lee Hill, 71 of Sumatra Passed away Friday in Tallahassee after an extended illness. Mr. Hill was a native and life long resident of Sumatra. He ran Parrish Grocery in Sumatra for many years and attended the Sumatra Assembly of God Church. He was a retired Staff Sergeant serving in the US Army. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time as a sportsman.
He was preceded in death by his wife Aileen Hill, 2 Brothers, James and Ras Hill, a Sister, Evelyn Butler and his parents, Willie and Rossie Hill.

Mrs. Martie Mae Watts, 89 of Telogia, passed away Monday, August 15, in Blountstown. Mrs. Watts was born February 26, 1916 in Juniper, Florida. She was a kind, loving lady. Everyone who knew her saw a glimpse of Jesus. She walked and talked her faith. She was a member of the Telogia Assembly of God Church in Telogia for many years. Most of her adult life was spent serving God, her family and community. As a young woman she served as a certified class A welder at the Panama City Ship Yard during World War II.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Horace and Georgia Williams; a Daughter, Jeannie Collins; her Stepmother, Hattie Williams; Brother, Lewis Williams; 2 Sisters, Lillie Bell Moore and Thelma Chason; 2 Infant Sons; and son-in law Forest Horn and a Daughter- in- Law Geraldine Watts.

Mr. Kenneth Temple, 60 of Blountstown, passed away Sunday morning at his home. Mr. Temple was a native and life long resident of Calhoun County and a Baptist. He was a sheet metal worker and a member of the Jacksonville Sheet Metal Union.

Mrs. Allie Mae Tharpe, 85 of Blountstown, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2005 in Blountstown. Mrs. Tharpe was a native and life long resident of Blountstown and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Carr Advent Christian Church where she was very active in church activities. She was also very active in the Calhoun County Senior Citizens and the Carr/ Clarksville Volunteer Fire Department.
She was the last surviving member of the Tharpe family being preceded in death by her brothers- Julian, Gordon, Perry and Aubrey Tharpe, and her sisters - Inez Herndon, Ruby Newsome, and Chrystelle Nichols.

Mrs. Valerie L. Bodden Waid Griffin 48 of Jacksonville, FL passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2005 in Jacksonville. Mrs. Griffin had lived in Bristol for 14 years prior to moving back to Jacksonville in 1997. She was a dedicated Direct Care Instructor at the Edwards Group Home in Jacksonville and had also worked at the Liberty Immediate Care Facility. Mrs. Griffin was of the Baptist faith and had attended Lake Mystic Baptist Church in Bristol. She was a member of the East 44th Baptist Church in Jacksonville.

Mr. John M. Moncrief, 63 of Bristol, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2005 in Panama City. A lifelong resident of Liberty County, Mr. Moncrief was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a self employed carpenter. Mr. Moncrief was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Lake Mystic Baptist Church. He served our country in the Vietnam War as a Sgt. in the U.S. Army.

Mrs. Helen Cox, 85 of Marianna, Florida, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at home.
She was born in Glendale, Florida and had lived in Jackson County for almost 60 years. Mrs. Cox earned her BA degree from the Florida State College for Women (now known as FSU) in 1942 and was an educator for 31 years in Jackson County, teaching home economics and science. She was an active member of the AARP, Widowed Persons and the First United Methodist Church Quilters Club. Mrs. Cox was a charter member of the Jackson County Teachers Credit Union, serving on the board for 30 years. She was a member of the "Golden Club" at First United Methodist Church in Marianna, attending actively over 50 years.

Mr. John "J.Y." Wimberly 73, of Sumatra, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2005 in Panama City. Mr. Wimberly was born in the Alliance Community and had lived in Sumatra since 1993. He was retired from the St. Joe Paper Mill after 42 years of service and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the US Army. He was a member of the Sumatra Baptist Church in Sumatra.
He is survived by his wife Marie Wimberly of Sumatra and mother-in-law Thelma Walker.

Mrs. Cebelle Singletary, 86 of Bristol, passed away Sunday, May 08, 2005 in Blountstown. Mrs. Singletary was a native and life long resident of Bristol and was a member of the Bristol United Methodist Church as well as a member of the Buddleia Garden Club in Tallahassee for many many years. She was the chief operator for the PBX phone service for Florida State University and later worked as a receptionist for the Tallahassee Federal Savings and Loan until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Richard Singletary.

Mrs. Marjorie Elizabeth Detrick Hamlin, 89 of Bristol, passed away Friday, April 22, in Blountstown. Mrs. Hamlin was born in Pennsylvania and had lived in Liberty County for the past six years. She was a member of the Life More Abundant Fellowship Church in Bristol and in her earlier years was instrumental in setting up Friends for Animals in Polk County.

Mrs. Lucille Deann Lockhart, heavens newest angel, 47 of Blountstown passed away Sunday at her home. Mrs. Lockhart was born in Jacksonville, Florida and had lived in Blountstown for the past 4 years moving from Panama City. She was a clerk and of the Baptist Church. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

A Son- James Randall Wheeler and his Fiancé Mary Jones of Pensacola
A Daughter- Shawna Lynn Ray and her husband Jason of Las Vegas, NV
2 Brothers- Melton Miller and his wife Lynn and Timothy Justice all of Panama City
1 Sister- Latricia Elder and her husband Dicky of Panama City
A Grandmother Lucille Adkins of Blountstown
A Grandson - Bradley Keith and several nieces and nephews- Stewart, Christie, and Sean Miller, Stephen and his wife Hope and Stephanie Justice, Ronald Jr. and Christopher and his wife Jennifer along with their children Christian and Ayden.

Mrs. Lois Elizabeth Wilson Mercer, 92, a retired educator, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005 in Tallahassee. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM EST Friday March 11, from the Corinth Baptist Church in Hosford. Interment
will follow in Hosford Cemetery.
Mrs. Mercer was born in 1912 in Malone, Florida and raised in Dothan, Alabama. She graduated from Bob Jones College then located in Lynn Haven, Florida. By the time she was 21; she had received a master's degree in library science from Colorado State Teacher College and had done additional graduate work at the University of Michigan. She then joined the faculty of Bob Jones College where she was head librarian and taught speech. She married the Rev. James "Cotton" Mercer on May 29, 1940 and they had six children. After her marriage, Mrs. Mercer devoted her time and energy to raising her family. She also did extensive volunteer work with girl scouts and cub scouts and was state director for camping for the Minnesota Girls Scouts. She was active in her church and taught Sunday school for many years. She was an avid reader and her library always contained a vast array of subjects.
In 1959, Dr. and Mrs. Mercer relocated their family to Pontiac, Michigan, and Mrs. Mercer returned to teaching speech and English full time and later became a high school guidance counselor. She received an additional master's degree in educational counseling from Michigan State University and became head guidance counselor at Pontiac Northern High School.
Following her retirement in 1977, Dr. and Mrs. Mercer lived in Quincy, Florida and Apalachicola, Florida. When her husband of 56 years died, she moved to Havana, Florida. She was very devoted to her family. In addition to her six children, she and Dr. Mercer had 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was a loving and nurturing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

2 Sons- James Woodrow Mercer and his wife Vicki of Pacific Palisades, California, and John T. W. Mercer and his wife Mary of Atlanta, Georgia
4 Daughters- Elizabeth Ann Sandberg and her husband Buzz of Ashland, Ohio, Martha Pagliuca and her husband Lou of Brandon, Mississippi, Jane Heady of Canton, Michigan, and Jill Mercer and her husband Ned Megargee of Havana.
