Marian Atwood
BURLINGTON – Marian Atwood died at The Arbors in Shelburne on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004.
Mrs. Atwood was born in Barre, on April 11, 1911, the daughter of Ed and Mary (Hunter) Keast. She graduated from Spaulding High School in 1928 and Goddard College in 1930.
Marian worked at the Barre City Clerk’s office from the time she graduated from Goddard College until she married Robert Atwood in 1936. They moved to Concord, New Hampshire, where her husband worked for the New Hampshire Highway Department.
Mrs. Atwood was a part time writer for the Children’s Aid Society in Burlington, writing feature articles about children available for adoption, in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Beginning in the mid 1950s, she worked at Hayes Advertising on College Street in Burlington for several years. She was office manager at Blodgett Supply on Lakeside Avenue in Burlington from the 1960s until 1975, when both she and Bob retired.
In her leisure time Marian hooked rugs, sewed clothes for her children and grandchildren, gardened, enjoyed cooking, especially for friends in need, and writing short stories and poetry especially humorous poetry for special occasions.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann and Jim Kincaid of Virginia Beach, Va., and Linda and Irwin Langer of Richmond; grandchildren, PJ and Pam McGrath of Virginia Beach, Va.; Ann and Jim Cazares of Virginia Beach, Va., and Kate McGrath of Charlottesville, Va.; and a great-grandchild, Cooper. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, in 1993, and her brother, Edwin, in 1973.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, in the First Congregational Church in Burlington. Interment

Irene C. Brink
MONTPELIER – Irene C. Brink, 83, a resident of Berlin Health and Rehabilitation for the past four years, died Sunday, January 25, 2004. Mrs. Brink previously resided at 30 First Avenue in Montpelier.
She was born in New Jersey on October 20, 1920, the daughter of Nicholas and Margaret (Smith) Sherry.
For many years Irene was an active member of the Trinity Methodist Church and was a member of the choir. She was also a past member of the Montpelier Elks Emblem Club. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Irene took great pride in her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren at family gatherings and holidays.
She is predeceased by her husband Trafford and a sister Margaret Kenney.
She is survived by a son Douglas, and his wife, Jeanne of Barre VT; three grandchildren, James Brink of Barre, VT; Jeanette Meade of Dothan, AL; and John Brink of Gilman, VT; seven great grandchildren, Jeffery Flood, Jason Brink, Tyler McNeil-Brink, Jessicanne Pacatte, Jeremy Pacatte, Jerrad Pacatte, and Colby Thompson; sisters Sherry Gagnon of Manchester, CT and Lillian Wheatley of LaGrangeville, NY; a brother-in-law Keith Bowles of Berwick, Maine; many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2004, 1:00 P.M. at Guare and Sons Funeral Home.

Norman C. Goddard
MIDDLESEX – Norman C. Goddard, 66, of Lower Sunnybrook Road, died Monday, at Central Vermont Hospital.
He was born on January 7, 1938 in Newport, VT, the son of Archie and Marion (Corkins) Goddard. He was educated in Newport Schools.
On January 25, 1955, he enlisted into the United States Army and served for three years.
After his discharge, he worked as a painter for Louis Marineau, at Capital City Press, and finally as a letter carrier for the Montpelier Post Office where he worked for 35 years.
On January 1, 2002, he married his long time companion, Gloria O’Neill in Montpelier.
Club Memberships include, Canadian Club, Montpelier Elks, and American Legion post #3.
Survivors include his wife of Middlesex; a son, Lt. Col. Brent Goddard and his wife, Kelly and their children, Brent II, Alyssa, and Jonathan of Sneadsferry, North Carolina; a daughter, Lisa Wilcox and her husband, Allen and their children, Hanna Gerdes, and Nicole Wells of Northfield; son, Jeff Goddard and his children, Tracy and Anthony of Barre; stepson, Don Pierce and his children, Jill and Allison of Middlesex; stepdaughter, Karen Kerin and her husband, John and their children Zoey and Lucy of Middlesex; step daughter, Lisa Forbes and her husband, Mike and their children, Trevor and Jennifer of Worcester; stepdaughter, Patty Hayward and her daughter, Katelynn; stepmother, Ruth Goddard of Newport, VT; brother, Ted Goddard and his wife, Robin and their son, Spencer of Newport; sister, Denna Vachon and her husband, Paul of Newport; sister- in-law, Jenny Goddard of Ayers Cliff, Canada; niece, Suzie Boutin of Sherbrook, Canada.
He was predeceased by a brother, Gary Goddard of Ayers Cliff, Canada.

Anna Kanyuch
WORCESTER – Anna Kanyuch, 94, formerly of Cleveland Ave., in Bridgeport, CT died peacefully in the arms of Jesus at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center, Berlin, VT.
Anna Kanyuch was born in Giraltovce, Czechoslovakia on May 20, 1909, the daughter of George Hliboky and received her education there. She moved to America on December 31, 1938 and lived in New York City, where she worked as a domestic and Nanny. She married John Kanyuch in Bridgeport, CT on October 31, 1948. Mr. Kanyuch died in 1985.
She loved children and caring for her home, vegetable and flower gardens. Baking, cooking and sewing were her favorite interests. She was a member of Holy Trinity Slovak Lutheran Church in Bridgeport, CT.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth James Kanyuck of Monroe, CT and a daughter Jacqueline Anna Polchies and her husband Cyril of Worcester, VT, seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Anna was one of thirteen brothers and sisters in Czechoslovakia who are predeceased.
At her request, there will be no church service or calling hours. Spring burial will be at the convenience of the family in Hanover Green Cemetery, Nanticoke, PA.

MONTPELIER – A memorial service for Irene A. McLellan, who died Jan. 19, 2004, was held Friday, Jan. 21 at the Barber and Lanier Funeral Home in Montpelier.

Aaron Jon Reilly
BERLIN – Aaron John Reilly, 31, of the Paine Turnpike, went to be with our Lord on January 26, 2004. He is now at peace.
He was born February 1, 1972 in Woodsville, NH, son of Carolyn (Brown) Reilly and the late Jon Reilly. He attended Barre Town Elementary School and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1990. Aaron was employed for many years by E.F. Wall Construction Company and worked at Nelson’s Tru-Value Hardware. He later worked at the Rouleau Granite Company and at the time of his death, was a crane operator at Houle-Giudici Granite Company.
In earlier years he was affiliated with the Newbury Baptist Church. He also had played in the Barre Town Elementary School Band and had been a member of the JV Football Team at Spaulding High School. He loved to go camping, snowmobiling and rock climbing.
Survivors include his mother, Carolyn and his brother, Murray Reilly both of Barre Town; two aunts, Jaska Sheperd of Richford and Marion Reilly at the Mayo Nursing Home in Northfield; an uncle, Jerry Clark also of Richford and several cousins. He is also survived by his fiancé, Lisa Rice and her four children, Amanda, Meghan, Calvin and Connor all of whom he loved passionately as well as his special friend Oscar, their golden retriever. He was very involved in all of their activities.
Besides his father, he was predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents as well as his aunt, Vicki Clark.
A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, January 31, 2003, at 1:00 PM in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street in Barre. There will be no calling hours. BROOKFIELD – Ethel W. Stowell, 94, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center in Berlin.

Sharon P. (Braley) Tatum
WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — Sharon P. (Braley) Tatum, 56, of Westborough, Mass., and formerly of Montpelier, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, in Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Mass., from multiple sclerosis.
She was born in Westborough, daughter of the late Edward and Amelia (Grize) Braley. She was raised in Westborough and moved to Vermont in 1975. She returned to Westborough in 2002.
She graduated from Westborough High School in 1965 and then from Framingham State College with a bachelor’s degree in English.
She was employed as a teacher at the Abilene State School in Abilene, Texas, for several years. She was a member of Saint Luke the Evangelist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Don C. Tatum; a son, Curtis E. of Savage, Md.; a brother, Gary J. Braley of Lunenburg, Mass.; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Roger E. Braley of Westborough in 2002.
Calling hours will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Britton-Summers Funeral Home in Westborough. A funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 30, at the funeral home, with a mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke the Evangelist Church. Burial will be private.

Clifford O. Morrie
WILLISTON - Clifford O. Morrie, 77, of Williston, died at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burling-ton, Sunday December 7, 2003 due to complications from a heart attack, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
He was born on May 16, 1926 in Orange, VT the son of Oney W. and Eva B. (Machia) Morrie.
Cliff was a graduate of Spalding High School in Barre, VT. He then served in the United States Navy for two years and later graduated from Norwich University with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering.
He was married to Martha "Pat" Zoeller on August 9, 1951 who then predeceased him in 1981. Cliff later married Helen White on July 23, 1988 in Our Lady of Grace Church in Colchester.
Cliff served in the United States Army for 19 years in the Army Corp of Engineers doing tours in Europe, Central America, Middle East, South East Asia and the United States. In 1970 he retired from active duty as a Lt. Col. After retiring he was the director of Public Works in Essex Junction, went to work for the Town of Colchester Planning and Zoning Department, and was the first town engineer for the Town of Colchester until his final retirement in December 1992.
Among his many interests he spent his retirement sailing, composing the family's genealogy, traveling, studying the history of past wars and spending time with his family and close friends.
He was a very active member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Parish, and the Knights of Columbus Council #7389 in Colchester. He was also a former member of the Essex Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Helen Morrie of Williston, his nine children, Allan Morrie and his wife Nancy of Monkton, Marie Tiemann of Essex, David Morrie and his wife Sue of Feeding Hills, MA, Cecilia Robinson and her husband Scott of Dover, Delaware, John Morrie of St. Albans, Thomas Morrie and his wife Noreen of Lebanon, NH, Kathleen Dwinell and her husband Tom of Milton, Andrea Pittman and her husband Todd of the Northwest Territories, Canada, Antoinette White of Halifax, Nova Scotia, his mother, Eva B. Morrie of Barre, 19 grandchildren, one sister, Lucille Abert of Chicopee, MA, one brother-in-law, Wendell Wheeler of Washington State, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Oney Morrie, one sister, Joyce Wheeler, and by one brother-in-law Rene Abert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday December 10, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Colchester. Interment

Joey P. Patch
WALDEN - Joey Patrick Patch, 35, died unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003.
He was born Sept. 8, 1968, in Bellows Falls, the son of Brian Patch and Madeline Marie Dawson. He attended Greensboro Public schools.
He was first married to Tammy Smith. He later married Dawn Marie Tanko on Aug. 25, 2001, in Walden.
He worked in the logging business in Marshfield and recently in Greensboro Bend. He also helped cut Christmas trees for Claude Fontaine of Walden.
He enjoyed spending time with his children, hunting, fishing, outdoor activities, and visiting and helping friends.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn of Walden; two daughters, Elizabeth Patch and Emily Patch, both of Wallingford; two stepchildren, Billy and Tabitha Tanko of Walden; a brother, Ringo Patch of Wallingford; several aunts and uncles; three nephews; and many cousins.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at the Northern Vermont Funeral Home in Hardwick, with the Rev. Ernest Machia of the Hope Community Church in Walden officiating. Visiting hours will be held one hour before the service Wednesday. Spring burial will be in the Greensboro Village Cemetery.

Rose P. Tessier
ST. ALBANS - Rose P. Tessier, 76, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at Haven Health Care Center, following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 15, 1927, in St. Albans, the daughter of Lador and Alma (Jacques) Garceau.
She was employed as a bookkeeper at Union Carbide Consumer Products and later at the Fonda Container Group. She was a lifelong communicant of Holy Angels Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Lee Frazier and Jean Patenaude of St. Albans; three sisters, Blanche (Anna) Mossey of Southboro, Mass., Marguerite Young of Enosburg; and Harriet Garceau of Port Orange, Fla.; a brother, George Garceau of Barre; three grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, and sisters and brothers, Adrian Garceau, Theresa Kurek, Cecile Lamphere, Jeannine Colvin, and Jean Garceau.
A graveside funeral service and interment
was held Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at the Garceau family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. There were no public calling hours.

Scott A. Brimblecombe
EAST BARRE - Scott A. Brimblecombe, 40, passed on into the loving arms of the Lord, Thursday, December 4, 2003.
He was born January 1, 1963, to Stan and Ginger (Brown) Brimblecombe.
He attended Spaulding High School and graduated in 1981.
Scott was a member of the Universalist Church in Barre and was a member of the American Lighthouse Foundation, as well as the Harbor Lights Society.
Scott loved sports and was a well known sports Broadcaster of sports around the State of Vermont.
He loved traveling, especially to the State of Maine. He was an avid NASCAR race fan and loved INDY car racing. Scott enjoyed politics and loved Gospel Music.
Scott was employed by the Town of Berlin in the Sewer Department and The World Newspaper.
Scott leaves his very loving parents and extended family. He leaves many, many friends. He also leaves a very special Golden Retriever friend, Addie, who was very important to him in his battle with cancer.
Scott was an extraordinary human being. He was willing to have his body experimented on with cancer drugs at the Dana Farber Institute in Boston.
Scott touched many lives with his smile, friendliness, and respect of others.
There will be no calling hours. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Universalist Church in Barre at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, with the Rev. Rich Forcier officiating.

Patrick J. Gelpi
LENEXA, KAN. - Patrick J. Gelpi, 87, of Lenexa, KS., formerly of Prairie Village, died Wednesday, December 3, 2003, at the Lakeview Village Health Center in Lenexa, Kan.
Patrick Gelpi was a native son of Barre, VT., born to Joseph and Martina Gelpi on October 16, 1916. They moved to Prairie Village, Kansas in 1954.
He was an Army Air Forces Veteran of WWII with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. He worked for Zarda Dairy for 25 years and retired in 1987 as Vice President. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church was a long time member of St. Ann's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lucille "Rusty" Gelpi. Additional survivors include a son, Philip Gelpi and his wife, Toni, of Overland Park, KS; three daughters, Christine Baker and her husband, Roy, of Bella Vista, AR, Patti Michaels of Shawnee, KS, and Tina Gelpi of Estero, FL; and four grandchildren, Jon Michaels, Justin Michaels, Michael Gelpi, and Elizabeth Gelpi.
He was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth (Elsie) Gelpi, who passed away on October 14, 2003, and a brother, John Gelpi, who passed away in 1981.

Elizabeth Videto Gilmore
BERLIN - Elizabeth Videto Gilmore, 94, of Berlin, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center in Berlin.
She was born June 17, 1909, in Mentor, Ohio, the daughter of Horatio and Julia (Kirby) Bale. She was adopted and raised by Helen Vedito of Berlin Corner.
She graduated from West Tech High School in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1929 and Lakie Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, in 1933 with a bachelor's degree in music.
She was married to Stanley Gilmore Sr. on June 28, 1944, in Vergennes.
She was employed as a music teacher in Cabot, Wilmington, Bennington, Ticonderoga and Saranac, N.Y. She retired in 1971.
After retiring from teaching in Saranac, N.Y., she was a member and organist at the Berlin Church in Berlin for several years.
She is survived by a son, Stanley Gilmore Jr. of Hampstead, Md.; two daughters, Cindy Mooty and Susan Vasquez of Louisiana; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Larry Gilmore.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, in the Barber and Lanier Funeral Home in Montpelier. A calling hour will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday. A later burial will be in the Saranac Independent Cemetery in Saranac, N.Y.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Berlin Congregational Church.
Charles R. "Puggy" Graves
BARRE - Charles R. "Puggy" Graves, of 138 Camp St., Barre, VT, formerly of Lunenburg, MA, died Dec. 2, 2003 at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin after a short illness.
Born July 10, 1937 to Ellen and Harry Graves of Leominster, MA. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Ellen Armstrong Graves who died May, 1981 and Harry F. Graves who died March, 1961. His sister, Helen Graves Matarese, wife of Gaetano Matarese, died March, 1987.
He lived with his brother, John R. Graves and sister-in-law, Priscilla, for the past 40 years. He formerly worked at the Harry F. Graves Company, retiring in 1988.
Besides his brother and sister-in-law he leaves his brother-in-law, Gaetano Matarese of Leominster, 3 nieces, 4 nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
Puggy was a joy to all who knew him. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. He enjoyed music, singing, dancing, putting on "his shows" and playing with "his checks."
He loved the winters in Florida with his brother and sister-in-law. Puggy touched everyone's heart and will be missed by all of us that loved him.
Puggy's family would like to thank all the wonderful people that had anything to do with his care at CVH Hospital at 2 South and also at the Woodridge Nursing Home. Marion Dunlap Parker
MONTPELIER - Marion Dunlap Parker, 93, died on December 5, 2003, at the Mayo Nursing Home in Northfield.
She was born in Meriden, Connecticut on August 2, 1910, to William and Theresa (Judge) Dunlop. She married Howard H. Parker on November 6, 1939, who predeceased her on January 27, 2001.
Before moving to Vermont in 1973, Marion and Howard lived in Maine and Connecticut where she worked as a registered nurse.
Marion graduated from Southington High Schol, Southington, CT, and received her nurse's degree from the Brooklyn School of Nursing in Brooklyn, N.Y. Throughout her life she worked as a registered nurse. Marion and Howard owned and operated a nursing home in Patten, Maine. She will be remembered for her professionalism as nurse and a loving parent, grandparent and great-grandparent. Over the years, she quietly and effectively worked to improve the quality of life through succeeding generations and tirelessly supported her children's far ranging activities.
Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Schumann of Southington, CT; a son, Howard Gary Parker, MD, of Bangor, ME; son, Keith Parker and his wife Reny of Cloverdale, CA; daughter, Linda Parker McIntire and her husband Burtt of Montpelier, VT; six grandchildren, Sherry Duncan Battisti of Portland, OR, Temple Parker of Bangor, ME, Sarah Parker and her husband Peter Cummings of Dublin, Ireland, Eliza Parker, MD, and her husband Matthew Briones of N.Y.C., N.Y., Paige McIntire and her husband Michael Conlogue of Montpelier, VT, and Carrie McIntire Fitz and her husband Peter Fitz of Worcester, VT; great-grandchildren Samara Battisti of Portland, OR, Madeline and Thomas Conlogue of Montpelier, VT, Candence Briones of N.Y.C., N.Y., and Alden Fitz of Worcester, VT.

Merta Elizabeth Wakefield
RANDOLPH - Merta Elizabeth Wakefield, 91, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, in Bennington.
She was born May 9, 1912, the daughter of Clayton and Lida (Buck) Wight.
She attended South Royalton High School and then received her teaching degree from Castleton Normal School.
She married Arthur M. Wakefield on Nov. 28, 1933, in Bethel. They lived in West Brookfield from 1933 until 1946, when they moved to Randolph.
She was employed as a grade school teacher for 30 years in South Randolph, South Royalton, West Braintree, Rochester Hollow, and Randolph.
She was a member of the United Church in Randolph, Beulah Chapter #15 of the Order of the Eastern Star, The Middle Branch Grange for 70 years, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a Vermont Mother of the Year in 1984. She was also a member of the Ed Larkin Contra Dancers.
She enjoyed camping, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Martha E. Brown of Shaftsbury and Madeline L. Mort of Bennington; five sons, David A. Wakefield of Randolph, Richard L. Wakefield of St. Albans, William M. Wakefield of Windsor, Duane W. Wakefield of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and LeRoy Wakefield of East Barre; two sisters, Merle Morse of Barre and Mildred Ford of Florida; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Marian Button and Martha Wight, and a brother, Howard Wight.
Calling hours will be held 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph. An Eastern Star service will follow at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at the funeral home, with Rev. Roger Wotton of the United Church of Randolph, officiating.
Burial will be held at a later date in the West Brookfield Cemetery.

Clifford Stuart Brown
WILLIAMSTOWN – Clifford “Cliff” Stuart Brown, 64, of Old Town Road, died Monday, December 1, 2003, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
Born June 22, 1939 in Washington, he was the son of the late Stuart Brown and Gladys (Farnham) Brown Freeman. He attended school in Washington and North Barre and graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre in the Class of 1958.
On October 22, 1970, he married Carmelita Rock in Barre where they made their home for twenty-five years. For the past six years, they lived on Old Town Road in Williamstown.
In earlier years, he was employed at Flint Lumber Company and Allen Lumber Company in Barre. He also worked for the Barre City Street Department until his disability.
A member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Barre, his life memberships included the Canadian Club, The Loyal Order of the Moose 1391, the American Legion of Northfield, and the National Rifle Association. Other memberships were the Barre Elk’s Lodge 1535 and the Mutuo Inc. of Barre.
He enjoyed bowling, hunting, playing cards, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Carmelita of Williamstown; three daughters, Sandy LaForest of Berlin, Kathy Brown of Calais, and Crista Ordway and her husband, Ned of Washington; six grandchildren, Heather LaForest, Jessica LaForest, Corrine LaForest, Stuart Brown, Sidney Ordway, and Alexandra Ordway; one great-grandson, Colby Lincoln; a brother, Douglas N. Brown and his wife, Irene of Barre; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Barre. Entombment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery Vault in Barre with later interment
in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Washington. Friends may call at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street in Barre on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Dr. Marc E. Hull
CABOT – Dr. Marc E. Hull, 61, of Main Street, died Monday, December 1, 2003, at his home after several years of ill health and intense pain.
Born on July 26, 1942 in Lebanon, NH, he was the son of Douglas H. and Hilda (Jock) Hull. He graduated from Hartford High School in White River Jct. in 1960, received his Bachelor Degree in Speech from the University of Vermont in 1964, and obtained a Masters Degree in Education in 1972. He went on and obtained his Doctorate in Inter-Disciplinary Education from Texas A & M University in 1976.
On November 1, 1964, he married Pamela Orr in the Ascutney Union Church. They made their home in the Lyndonville area, Burlington, College Station, TX, and East Montpelier before moving to Cabot in 1993.
Marc worked as a Boy Scouts of America Executive in the North East Kingdom and was an Eagle Scout. He was a teacher at the St. Johnsbury Community School in Special Education and was a lay minister with the St. Johnsbury Congregational Church. Marc was Superintendent of Schools for Calendonia Central Supervisory Union in Danville. From 1996 to 1999, he served as Commissioner of Education for the State of Vermont. Most recently, he had served as a Federal Programs Administrator for the Vermont Department of Education.
Throughout his life, he was active in the churches where he lived. His goal in life was to walk with God and serve Him through Jesus Christ which was reflected in his personal and professional life.
He enjoyed gardening and bird watching, especially blue birds. Marc loved to sing and to share his gift given to him with others.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela; his children, Christopher S. Hull of Salt Lake City, UT, Joanna L. Broderick and her husband, Kevin of Plainfield, and Alexis D. Hull of Dallas, TX; a special nephew, Jason D. Hull and his daughter, Savannah of Randolph; two grandchildren, Vincent C. Broderick and Lillian B. Broderick; his father, Douglas H. Hull and his wife, Catherine of Worcester, William L. Hull and his wife, Jeanne of East Barre, and Stephen H. Hull and his wife, Rita of South Royalton; a sister, Linda B. Hull of Woodbury; many nieces and nephews.
His mother, Hilda predeceased him.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Vermont State House Chamber in Montpelier on Friday at 12:30 p.m. followed by a time of fellowship. There are no calling hours.

Joan A. MacKenzie
NORTHFIELD – Joan A. MacKenzie, 91, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at her home in Northfield.
She was born Dec. 19, 1911, in Chickopee, Ma., the daughter of Joseph and Adeline (Lafond) Belanger.
She was married to James D. MacKenzie.
She was employed by Sprague Electric in South Barre for many years, retiring in the 1970s.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Northfield. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by five sons, Joseph of Santa Monica, Calif., James of Northfield, John of Interlachen, Fla., Jeffrey and Jerold, both of Worcester; four daughters, Jane MacKenzie of Worcester, Judy Peters of Novato, Calif., Joanne Hoblit of Worcester, Janice Golonka of N. Hatfield, Ma.; twenty-four grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her three sisters, Estelle Foss, Lea O’Brien, and Cecile Healy.
Calling hours will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at the Kingston Funeral Home in Northfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at St. John the Evangelist Church in Northfield.
