Gladys spent much of her life serving others, always the loving worker who cared for children and homes in Marshfield all through her working career. There were more than eighteen children who benefited from her love as she worked in homes while the parents worked outside the home. Soup and a peanut butter sandwich, along with her love, usually made them well by the end of the day.
She later spent many years as a volunteer at Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center, so when she was taken there for the last two years of her life, she continued to lovingly pass smiles, hugs, and kisses to the staff there. Her humor and good spirit endeared her to those who were at Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center as long as she was there.
Though there was much sadness at times in her life, as three of her sons died, she always kept her strong faith and her love of people.
She was a member of the Marshfield United Church which she loved and sang in the choir when she was able. In earlier years, she belonged to the Marshfield Home Dem Club. She especially loved her garden of flowers.
