Tilman R. Williams Jr., 70, of White Pine, died Monday evening, May 24, at Mariner Health of Newport.
He was a former employee of Bob Smith Furniture Company and was of the Church of God faith. He was a member of the Newport VFW, Post 2372.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tilman R. Williams, Sr. and Lucy Henry Williams; brothers, Franklin, Thomas, and Leroy Williams; and sisters, Juanita Moss and Reba Pettus.
He is survived by his sisters, Hazel Keller, of White Pine and Wanda Worex, of Newport; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Cecil Askew, of Parrotts - ville; brothers, Doolie Henry, of Dandridge and James Williams, of White Pine; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 9 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Costner - Maloy Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Costner - Maloy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Billy Dean Shelton ofÞciating. Agnes Leatherwood Hannah, 75, of Newport, died at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville on Tuesday, May 11.
She was a member of Mt. Sterling Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Hannah; her parents, Bernard R. and Burr Mae Leatherwood; and brothers, Jim and Everette Leatherwood.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Mary Alice Hannah of Waterville, North Carolina; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jerry Fine of Newport; daughter, Debbie Sinard of White Pine; brother, Warren Leatherwood of Mullica Hill, New Jersey; sisters, Vera Mull of Newport, Reva Gray Hannah of Waterville, Joann Moore of Newport, Jenny Presnell of Waynesville, North Carolina, and Lena Price of Franklinville, New Jersey; five grandchildren; five great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at Manes Funeral Home - West Chapel. Burial will be at Mt. Sterling Cemetery.

Margaret Booterbaugh, 60, of Cosby, died Tuesday, May 11, at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County.

Died: 5/18/99
Gloria Eleanor Franklin, 73, of Del Rio, passed away Sunday at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was a member of the Stokely’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Gloria had worked for Anchor Hocking Glass Company in Salem, New Jersey, for 35 years before her retirement in 1980.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Franklin; and brothers, Benjamin Franklin Jacobs and Joseph Alonzo Jacobs.
She is survived by her sisters, Lydia Thomas and Jessie Hall, both of Salem, New Jersey, Nellie Holt of Bybee, Gertrude Hall of Newport, and Virginia and her husband, Ray Rayborn of Purvis, Mississippi; one brother, Raymond Jacobs of Bybee; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Brown Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dale Hayes officiating. Interment will be in the Franklin Family Cemetery.

She was a member of Long Creek Christian Church and a member of the Senior Citizens Quilters.
She was preceded in death by husband, Clinton Sane; and brother, Jim Gregg.

William Henry Colby, age 79, of Newport, died May 23, in Jefferson City Health and Rehab Center.
He had attended Oberlin College in Ohio. He was a fulltime missionary to the Newport congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and an elder in the Newport congregation.
He is survived by his brother, Carroll Colby, of Lacey, Washington; sisters, Louise Phillips Waters, of Worchester, MA and Helen P. Estabrook, of Worchester, MA; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Kingdom Hall, 1212 Rhyne Camp Road, Newport, with Robert Young ofÞciating.

He was preceded in death by his sons: James and Tony Curtis Jackson; Brothers: Ray, Chester, U.L., and Solin Jackson; Sisters: Evelyn Breeden and Gladys Strange.
He is survived by his wife, Edith E. Berniece Campbell Kelley, 67, of Newport, passed away Saturday in her home following an apparent heart attack.
She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church.
Berniece had worked for Quaker Oats for 30 years before her retirement in 1992.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas (Tom) Kelley.
She is survived by her sons, Roger and his wife, Sandra Kelley, of Dandridge and Danny and his wife, Joan Kelley, of Newport; sister, Marie Tokar, of Highland, CA; a brother, Ed Campbell, of Newport; a granddaughter, Karen Kelley, of Cookeville; and a special friend, Gene MooreÞeld, of Newport.

Ms. Margaret L. Rines, age 84, of Morristown, passed away Sunday morning, May 23, at Lakeway Regional Medical Center in Morristown following a long illness.
She attended the Morristown Baptist Tabernacle and was the daughter of the late Emmett and Ida Lou Lane Rines.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, William E. “W.E.” and Lenora Rines, of Newport; granddaughter, Twyla Sheree Ivens, of Seymour; two great - grandchildren, Chloe and Madason; sister, Mrs. Rachel Sartain, of Morristown; brothers, Curtis Rines, of White Pine and Elcaney Rines, of Greenville, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

Bessie J. Williams Moore, age 90, of Dandridge (Sandy Ridge Community) passed away Wednesday morning, May 26, at the Jefferson County Nursing Home.
Bessie was born, July 9, 1908, and was a life - long resident of Jefferson County. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Beginnings Church of God.
Preceded in death by her husband, Hyram B. Moore; sister, Lillian Lane; and brothers, David J. Williams, Sam T. Williams, and Jess Williams.
Survivors are: brothers, James L. “Joker” Williams, John A. Williams, Charles F. and wife, Inez Williams, and Will Jr. and wife, Geneva Williams and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Harl Clintin Ball
Died: 08/08/2000
Harl Clinton (H.C.) Ball, 85, of White Pine, passed away at his home August 8, 2000, after a long illness.
He was American Enka’s first certified welder retiring in 1980. He began his welding career with DuPont Corporation and Sunset Shipyards of New Jersey during World War II and continued his career in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, at the Atomic Plant. After his professional career, he continued to weld for friends and neighbors at his home where he farmed until his death.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of White Pine.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lola Mae Arrowood Ball and his son, R.L. Ball. Also preceded in death by his parents, Tillman R. and Fannie Pack Ball and also sisters, Lorrie Williams and Ollie M. Ball.
Survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Martha Ann Ball, and Harrel Harl and Shirley M. Ball, all of White Pine; daughters and sons-in-law, Allie and Dr. Dale Hunter of Tullahoma and Linda and William Harry Watson of Maryville; grandchildren, Teresa Ball Smith and Rick Ball, both of White Pine, and Ryan Watson of Maryville; sisters, Opal Coggins of Dandridge, Ardith Tucker, Bettye Hux, and Myrtle Arrowood, all of Newport, and Christine McGaha and Georgia Mantooth, both of Pigeon Forge; brothers, Joye and Forrest Ball, both of Newport, and Horace Ball of Del Rio; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Irons officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be 11 a.m. Friday at Dandridge Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. to proceed to the cemetery for the interment service.
