Justin Lynn Kennedy-Minkel
Justin Lynn Kennedy-Minkel, 21, of Ojai, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 1996, of undetermined causes. He was born in Kansas City on July 31, 1975, and had been a California resident since 1977.
He is survived by his parents, Roger and Donna Minkel, of Ojai; brother, Nathan, of Ojai; sisters, Aubrey, of Ojai, and Kristine, of Ventura; grandfather, Russ Wessels, of Bend, Ore.; grandparents, Richard and Jean Barry, of Lake Forest, Calif.; grandmother, Margaret, of Camarillo; and many aunts, uncles and cousins throughout the United States.
Friends may call at Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai Thursday from noon to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ojai Valley Community Church with Pastor Bill Barrett officiating. Interment will follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Justin Kennedy-Minkel Trust Fund, c/o Ojai Valley Bank, for funeral expenses.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.

Cedric Firth
Cedric Firth, 84, of Ojai, died Nov. 4, 1996, at Community Memorial Hospital, in Ventura, after a short illness.
He was born July 1, 1912, in Canada and lived in Ojai for 21 years, coming from Westwood Village.
Mr. Firth was a purchasing agent for the E.L. Payne Heating and Air Conditioning Company, retiring in 1975.
During World War II, he worked for McDonnell-Douglas, where he assisted in installing the aircraft engines on President Roosevelt's plane.
He was a 50-year member of the Elks Lodge and enjoyed photography and travel.
He is survived by his wife, Cecilia W. Firth, of Ojai; a niece, Shirley Stanford, of Provo, Utah; and a nephew, David Bruce Firth, of Walnut, Calif.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.
Private inurnment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Santa Cruz.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.

Billie Berri O'Brien
Billie Berri O'Brien, 75, of Ojai, died April 23, 1997, at her home after a long illness. She was born April 24, 1921, in Indianapolis.
Mrs. O'Brien moved with her family to Los Angeles in 1937. There she continued her studies in dancing with Rozelle Frey, a famous ballet teacher and former member of Anna Pavlova's company. Mrs. O'Brien also studied theater arts with English actor Guy Bates Post. She was a graduate of Hollywood Professional Children's School; danced professionally and appeared in several films during those years. Proficient in tap dancing, as well, it was ballet that remained her greatest love and accomplishment, one transferred later to her many students in her Ojai studio.
After moving to Ojai in 1943, she became a member of the Ojai Art Center where she appeared in and directed a number of productions in the 1940s and 1950s.
At her East End home, Mrs. O'Brien raised several race horses. In 1969, she married David O'Brien, who is a longtime member of the racing community. Her love of horses and her lifelong commitment to caring for and protecting all creatures, particularly the migrant bird population, was a major part of her life. Her property in the East End has been devoted to providing shelter and habitat for the wildlife of the area.
She is survived by her husband, David; her sister, Jeanne Boardman; and nephews, Lowell Boardman, of Santa Barbara, and Kevin Boardman, of Forest Grove, Ore., and their families.
There will be a memorial service to be announced later.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.

William James Ross
William James Ross, 99, of Ojai, died Wednesday, April 23, 1997, at the Ojai Valley Community Hospital after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 16, 1897, in Wolverhampton, England and had lived in Ojai for 10 years, coming from Goleta.
Mr. Ross had been a naval architect and was a retired civilian architect for the U.S. Navy Department. He had been a member of the Theosophical Society since 1914. After retirement, Mr. Ross traveled widely as a lecturer for the Theosophical Society and for some years was a resident of Australia, returning to the United States in 1975.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline Ross, of Ojai.
No services are planned at this time.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.

John O. Woolwine
John O. Woolwine, 92, of Ojai, died Wednesday, April 23, 1997, at the Acacias Care Center after a lengthy illness. He was born May 14, 1904, in Benton County, Ark. and had lived in Ojai 69 years, coming from Benton County.
Mr. Woolwine was a citrus and cattle ranch foreman for Rancho La Vista.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Ojai for 40 years and also a deacon of the church.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, C. Bernice Woolwine, of Ojai; daughter, Helen E. Wambsgans, of Burbank; daughters and sons-in-law, Emma Mae and Robert Taylor, of Ojai and Mary Lou and Wayne Wingate, of Ojai; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, J.D. Woolwine, in 1996.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 28, 1997, at Clausen Funeral Home with Mr. Clinton Storm officiating. Interment was at Ivy Lawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Lung Association.
Arrangements were under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.

Robert Guy Moore
Robert Guy Moore, 67, of Rockville, Mo., died Friday, April 25, 1997, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs, Mo. He was born April 16, 1930, in Bolivar, Mo., the son of Guy Thomas and Effie Mae Wilson Moore. He married Mary Louise Powell April 2, 1954, in Oxnard.
Mr. Moore served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 to 1954, attained the rank of sergeant, having served in the Korean conflict. After retiring in California, he moved to the Taberville area in 1993. He was active in the Taberville Community Club.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Guy Jr. and Jennifer Ann Moore, of Lodi, Calif.; daughter, Vicky Lynn Toy, of Springfield, La.; sisters, Avis Pauline Malos, of Ojai, and Dorothy Ruth Hight Culpepper, of Bishop; granddaughter, Amber Denise Weston, of Springfield; three nephews and five nieces.
Funeral services were held at Milster Chapel in Missouri Thursday, May 1, 1997, with Father Bill Krudwig officiating. Following cremation, graveside services will be held in Taborville Cemetery today at 11 a.m. with Father Bill Krudwig officiating with a military service under the direction of Milster Funeral Home in El Dorado Springs.

Albert A. Myers
Longtime county resident, Albert A. Myers, 78, of Ojai, died Monday, April 28, 1997, in Ojai Valley Community Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Myers was born March 23, 1919, in Oxnard. He graduated from Oxnard High School and was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene since 1948. He was a foreman for the Holve Ranch in Ojai for 38 years, retiring in 1993.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Eleanor Myers, of Aiken, S.C., and Stanley and Norma Myers, of Frazier Park; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Hull of the Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.

Madge Wren
Madge Wren, 93, of Ojai, died Tuesday, April 29, 1997, at Ojai Valley Community Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born Feb. 26, 1904, in Kentucky, and lived in Ojai for 25 years. She was a 30-year Ventura County resident, coming from Beverly Hills.
Mrs. Wren was a seamstress and former owner of Ojai Valley Cleaners.
She is survived by her son, John B. Brown, of Goleta; son and daughter-in-law, Charles "Bob" and Laura Brown, of Ojai; daughter, Dorothy Kominar, of Kermit, W.Va.; brother, Henry O. Glass, of Glasgow, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 1988.
No services are planned.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Ojai Division, or the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.

Patricia Rumage
Patricia Rumage, 67, of Oak View, died Wednesday, May 21, 1997. She was born Oct. 7, 1929, in Santa Barbara, and lived in Oak View for 30 years, coming from Southern California.
Mrs. Rumage was an avid tennis player and had been the tennis shop manager for the Ojai Valley Inn. She was retired.
She is survived by her sons, Brent Rumage and Brian Rumage, both of Oak View; son and daughter-in-law, Blaine and Kit Rumage, of Torrance; sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Dean Miner, of Ojai; and a great-aunt, Freida Webb, of Ojai.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Rumage, in 1973.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 31, at 2 p.m. at Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home.

Alan Campbell
Alan Campbell, 44, died Friday, May 16, 1997, in Tucson at Saint Mary's Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Ventura and had lived in Tucson for the past 15 years.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his parents, Bill and Glenna Campbell, of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; daughter, Amber Campbell, of Mussoula, Mont.; brothers, Craig Campbell, of Lake Havasu, Ariz. and David Campbell, of Emmett, Idaho; sisters, Ann Butcher, of Ojai and Patty Campbell, of Ventura; stepbrother, Randy Williams, of Emmett, Idaho; stepsisters, Linda Williams, of Redondo Beach and Karen Woodward, of Lake Elsinore, Calif.
Interment will be at Ivy Lawn Cemetery following a private memorial service which will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Valley Funeral Home in Tucson.

John H. "Jack" Robertson
John H. "Jack" Robertson, 70, of Meiners Oaks, died Friday, May 23, 1997, at Ojai Valley Community Hospital. He was born June 29, 1926, in Detroit, Mich., and lived in Meiners Oaks for 41 years, coming from Ypsilanti, Mich.
Mr. Robertson had been a building inspector and bricklayer. He was a former member of the American Legion in Michigan and a past treasurer of the Bricklayers Union in Ventura.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred, of Meiners Oaks; sons, Michael Robertson, of Turlock and Timothy O. Robertson, of Ojai; daughters, Sheree Rushton, of Yuba City, Jacquelin Coke, of Ojai, Donna Taddy, of Ojai, Pamela Stahl, of Yuba City and Jill Webb, of Ojai; brother, Coll Robertson, of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Jewell Gross, of Brooklyn, Mich.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Cremation and inurnment will be in Ojai.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.

Evelyn Hutchinson
Evelyn Hutchinson, 86, of Ojai, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000.
She was born in Nashua, N.H., on Jan. 11, 1913, the daughter of Will and Lizzie Hutchinson.
Miss Hutchinson worked for many years at CBS Network and at Fawcett Publications in Greenwich, Conn.
She was a resident of Ojai for 20 years, coming from Greenwich. Through the years, she was also a homemaker and care-giver for many of her family members.
Miss Hutchinson was an active member of the Ojai United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her cousins Frances Gilbert of Ojai, and Joanne Volta and her family of Italy; and her close family friend Norma Mitrany of Ojai.
She was preceded in death by her brother Donald E. Hutchinson.
A service of remembrance will be held Thursday at 5 p.m. at Ojai United Methodist Church, 120 Church Road in Ojai, with the Rev. Robert Underwood, the Rev. Lanny Arrowsmith and the Rev. Bobbie McMullen officiating. Interment at a later date will be at the Ojai United Methodist Church Memorial Garden.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Miss Hutchinson's name be made to the Ojai United Methodist Church.

Don Blakely Low
Don Blakely Low, 75, of Ojai, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Hanover, N.H., and had lived in Ojai for 22 years, coming from Cincinnati, Ohio.
Mr. Low was a retired assistant vice president for the Great American Insurance Company and had his own insurance consulting business in Ojai. He graduated from Amherst College in 1946.
Mr. Low was a first lieutenant pilot serving in the 9th Army Air Force in the European Theater during World War II, assigned to the 9th Air Force Headquarters.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Louise Low of Ojai; daughter Cathryn Low of La Jolla, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Lucinda and Stephen Swartz of Kensington, Md.; sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Howard Armstrong of Greenwich, Conn.; and two grandchildren.
Private family services will be held in Vermont at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of California.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.

Florence McCall
Florence McCall, 91, of Ojai, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at Ojai Valley Community Hospital Skilled Nursing Center.
She was born March 31, 1908, in Los Angeles. She was a 73-year Ventura County resident, coming from Los Angeles, and had lived in Ojai for 58 years.
Mrs. McCall had been the cafeteria manager for DeAnza Middle School in Ventura, and was a member of the Church of the Living Christ in Ojai.
She is survived by her daughter Betty J. Kelly of Ojai; son and daughter-in-law Jon D. and Robin McCall of Durham, Calif.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce McCall in 1971.
Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai. Private interment will be at Ivy Lawn Cemetery in Ventura.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home.

Elsie McLean
Elsie McLean, 86, of Ojai, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at Lake Forest Convalescent Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 14, 1913, in Ferndale, Ark., and had lived in Ojai since 1956, coming from Hayward, Calif.
Mrs. McLean was a cook at Acacias Care Center for 14 years and a member of the Ojai Church of Christ.
She is survived by her daughter Jane Thomas of Mission Viejo, Calif.; sister Hettie Elmore of Arkansas; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Archie McLean in May of 1999.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Ojai Church of Christ, with Pastor Jim Short officiating. Interment will follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.

Bert Pryor
Bert Pryor, 82, of Ojai, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Ojai Valley Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born May 2, 1917, in Dunlap, Iowa. He had lived in Ojai for 23 years, coming from Hermosa Beach, Calif.
Mr. Pryor had been a supervisor for Northrop Aircraft for 40 years and was a member of the Northrop Management Club. He was a member of the Soule Park Senior Men's Golf Club and the Elks Lodge of Westchester. He also volunteered as a driver for HELP of Ojai.
He is survived by his wife Rose Pryor of Ojai; daughter Joanne Evans of Santa Maria; and son Greg Pryor of Hanalei, Kauai, Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.
