Caplan - Hirschman
Saturday September 21, 2002

Wendy Caplan and Bryan Hirschman were united in marriage June 23, 2002, at the Inn at Round Barn Farm in Waitsfield.

The 4 p.m. ceremony was officiated by Susan Pekala, justice of the peace and friend of the family.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a full-length, ivory matte satin A-line gown with beadwork adorning the squared neckline. She carried a bouquet of blush pink, ivory and white roses.

Lianne Trombly, friend of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Katie Ducham, friend of the bride, and Mellisa Pastore, future sister-in-law of the bride.

Jill David, sister of the groom, served as best person. Groomsmen included Lance Jesse, friend of the groom; and Michael David, Jonathan Caplan, Todd Caplan and Seth Caplan, brothers-in-law of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of Harvey and Patty Caplan of St. Johnsbury. She is self-employed as a massage therapist.

The groom is the son of Joel and Susan Hirschman of Baltimore, Md. He is employed as a science teacher at Spaulding High School in Barre.

The couple reside in their newly built home in Northfield.

Shepard - Ulrich
Saturday February 1, 2003

Lisa Shepard and Tim Ulrich, both of St. Johnsbury, were united in marriage Aug. 31, 2002, at St. John the Evangelist Church in St. Johnsbury.

The 3 p.m., double-ring ceremony was officiated by Deacon Bernier Mayo. Jean McGregor served as organist.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a satin and organza spaghetti strap ivory gown with embroidered flowers. She carried a cascading bouquet with lavender and ivory roses, phlox, stephanotis, baby's breath and ivy.

Angela Holloway, future sister-in-law of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Crystal Lampman, friend of the bride; and Jennifer Shepard, cousin of the bride. The flower girl was Colleen Shepard, cousin of the bride. Attendants wore periwinkle satin and georgette gowns with empire waists. They carried cascading bouquets similiar to the bride's.

Trevor Bevens, friend of the groom, served as best man. Ushers were Mike Ulrich, brother of the groom; and Robbie Sinclair, friend of the groom. Matthew Collins was the ring bearer.

A reception was held at the Cabot Motor Inn in Lancaster. The three-tiered, ivory marble cake was decorated with lavender roses.

The bride is the daughter of Gary and Marline Shepard of Vernon. She is a 2002 graduate of Lyndon State College with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and liberal studies. She is a fourth-grade teacher at Newbury Elementary School.

The groom is the son of Jeffrey and Patricia Ulrich of Orono, Maine. He is a 2000 graduate of Lyndon State College. He is employed as a tutor coordinator at Lyndon State College.

The couple reside in St. Johnsbury.

Thresher - Carmichael
Saturday November 8, 2003

Crystal Rene Thresher and Ruel Duncan Carmichael were united in marriage Oct. 11, 2003, in an outdoor ceremony at their home on Snow Farm Road in Peacham.

The 4 p.m., double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Rebecca Maccini.

Bagpipes were performed for the ceremony music, which included "Mhari's Wedding" and "Rose O'Prince Charlie."

The bride was given away by her son, Kody Berwick. She carried a bouquet of plum, pale yellow and ivory chrysanthemums, dahlias, yarrow and baby's breath with matching fall leaves and cascading sheer ribbon.

Kaitlyn Berwick, daughter of the bride, served as junior bridesmaid and carried a miniature version of her mom's bouquet.

Groomsmen were Nathan and Nicholas Carmichael, sons of the groom; and Kody Berwick, son of the bride.

The bride, groom and their children participated in a unity candle lighting, which followed the playing of "Highland Cathedral" on the bagpipes.

Outdoor decorations included a fall leaf-covered arch accented with cornstalks with fall flower arrangements and gourds at the base. The reception tent was decorated with crystal white lights and each entrance was lined with straw hay bales with fall flower arrangements and pumpkins.

Tables were dressed with hunter green and ivory tablecloths with gold-glittered fall leaves, pumpkin centerpieces with mini-pumpkin gourds that held tea lights. Votive candles adorned a table of assorted photographs of the couple and their children throughout their courtship.

Following a catered sunset meal, assorted cheesecakes and fall harvest pies were served as dessert.

The couple took a short honeymoon to Lake Winnisquam in Belmont, N.H., and has a Caribbean island trip planned for March.

The bride is the daughter of Donna Thresher of Peacham and the late Fred Thresher. She is a 1989 graduate of Danville High School and received an associate's degree in business administration from Hesser College in 1991. She is employed as the office manager for McLure's Honey & Maple Products in Littleton, N.H.

The groom is the son of Betty and Rick Gagnon of Camden, Tenn., and Jim Carmichael of Keene, N.H. He attended high school in Claremont, N.H., and is employed with NSA Industries, Inc. in Lyndonville.

Scott - Furs
Saturday October 25, 2003

Kati Scott of West Barnet and Eric Furs of Middlebury, Conn., were united in marriage Aug. 2, 2003, at the home of the bride's parents.

The double-ring ceremony took place in the country garden and was officiated by the Hon. Walter Morris, a friend of the family.

The bride was given away by her father. Ian Scott, brother of the bride, composed and played the ceremony music on guitar. Special readings were given by Brennan Smith, friend of the couple.

Lindsey Scott, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Attendants were Abby Donaher, Sarah Snow, Annie Goff, all friends of the bride; and Kristen Furs, sister of the groom.

Best man was Dave Elovecky, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Ryan O'connel, Chris Ringer, Chris DeAngelis, all friends of the groom; and Ian Scott, brother of the bride. Todd Scott, brother of the bride, and Daniel and Monika Neal, cousins of the groom, were junior attendants.

A sunset reception followed the ceremony and included a barn dance and a bonfire.

The couple took a short honeymoon to Echo Lake in East Charleston and are planning a winter trip to Puerto Rico.

The bride is the daughter of David and Tari Scott of West Barnet. The groom is the son of Ed and Wendy Furs of Middlebury, Conn. The couple reside in Johnson, Vt.

Ham - Gilman
Saturday February 1, 2003

Jessica Lynn Ham of Sheffield and Matthew Allen Gilman of Wheelock were united in marriage Oct. 19, 2002, at the Old Baptist Church in Sheffield.

The 1 p.m., double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Timothy Pittman. The church was decorated with white lilies, and traditional organ music was provided by Charlotte Niles.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an informal, white floor-length gown with spaghetti straps and a short train. She carried a bouquet of white lilies and baby's breath.

Katelyn Ham, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Rhiannon Esposito, and Bonnie Paris, friends of the bride, and Kelly Gilman, sister of the groom. Lydia ham, niece of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid. Flower girls were Katie and Abigail Ham, nieces of the bride. Attendants wore floor-length cranberry gowns with spaghetti straps and carried bouquets of white lilies and baby's breath.

Cort Noonan, friend of the couple, served as best man. Ushers were Patrick Ham, brother of the bride; Brian Camber, friend of the groom; and Daniel Guest, friend of the couple. Lukas Ham, nephew of the bride, was the ringbearer.

A reception was held at the Sheffield Town Hall. The cream-colored autumn cake, made by friend of the bride Helen Casey, was decorated with leaves and berries.

The bride is the daughter of Leslie and Dolores Ham of Sheffield. She is a junior at Lyndon State College and a 1997 graduate of Union Baptist Christian School. She is employed by Carmen's Ice Cream.

The groom is the son of Stanley and Beverly Gilman of Wheelock. He is a 2001 graduate of Lyndon Institute and is employed at the White Market Plaza.

The couple reside in Sheffield.

Dwyer - Blake
Saturday October 4, 2003

Molly Stark Dwyer of Lyndon Center and Eric Thomas Blake of Sutton were united in marriage Sept. 20, 2003, at at the home of the bride's parents.

The 3 p.m., outdoor ceremony was officiated by Dr. Lloyd Tim Thompson, justice of the peace.

Members of the Foghorn String Band, friends of the bride, played fiddle and mandolin music during the ceremony.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a pale blue vintage 1920s lawn party dress. She carried a bouquet of lilies and wildflowers arranged by the groom.

Meggan Dwyer, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Amber Holden and Mariclare McKnight were the attendants.

Jill Blake, sister of the groom, served as best woman. Josh Barnes and Ben Doyle were ushers.

The reception was also held at the home of the bride's parents. A three-tiered, chocolate wedding cake with butter cream frosting was decorated with assorted wild flowers.

The bride is the daughter of David and Catherine Dwyer of Lyndonville. She is a 1995 graduate of Lyndon Institute and a 2003 graduate of Oregon College of Art and Craft.

The groom is the son of Thomas Blake of Burke, and Janice and Douglas Solinsky of Sutton. He is a 1994 graduate of Lyndon Institute, a 1995 graduate of The Landing School, and a 1996 graduate of The International Boatbuilding Training College in England. He is a boat designer and builder, specializing in classic wooden boat designs, and is employed by the Brooklyn Boatyard in Brooklyn, Maine.

The couple reside in Brooklyn, Maine.

Lamore - Berthiaume
Saturday October 11, 2003

Renee Marie Lamore and Robert Paul Berthiaume were united in marriage July 26, 2003, at the Bethany Church in Montpelier.

The Rev. William Cobb officiated the double-ring ceremony, and Ellen and Annie Rushman performed a special reading.

Lisa North and Shauna Lewis were matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were Polly Granger and Michelle Berthiaume. Kelly Gochey was the flower girl.

Adam Hilliker was best man. Ushers were Jean Berthiaume, Erik Poulin and Denis Berthiaume. Shane Gochey and Nicholas Rushman served as junior ushers.

A reception was held at the Capital Plaza, after which the couple left for a cruise along the U.S Virgin Islands.

The bride is the daughter of Morris and Rosemaire Lamore of Cabot. She is a graduate of Cabot High School, Saint Michael's College and Trinity College. She is employed as an English teacher at North Country Union High School.

The groom is the son of Richard and Noella Berthiaume of North Troy. He is a graduate of North Country Union High School and is employed as a supervisor at the Northern State Correctional Facility.

The couple reside in Newport.
