Sandy, Howard Monroe
September 1, 1916 - October 20, 2003
Howard M. Sandy, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, with his loving children around him, went to join his Lord and to be reunited with his loving wife, Beulah of 63 ' years on Monday, October 20, 2003 at Central Michigan Community Hospital.
Howard's home-going celebration will be on Saturday, October 25th at 4 p.m. at the First Church of Christ with Pastor Ivan C. Odor officiating. Interment will follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. The Family will receive friends on Friday, October 24th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Rock Lake Christian Assembly, First Church of Christ and Great Lakes Christian College ' Doty Center Fund. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.
Howard was the 2nd of 10 children. He came to Michigan in 1938 from Richie Co., WV with his brother Ken to work in the oil fields, which he made his living for 43 years. Howard married Beulah McFarland in 1939. He was employed by Wilkin Oil for 8 ' years, Talbort Oil for 3 ' years, Michigan Oil for 15 years, McClure Oil Company for 5 years and Lease Management for 11 years. He built a home on Lincoln Rd and in 1951 he purchased a 118 acre farm on Baseline Street where he enjoyed raising his family, Angus Cattle and Hampshire pigs. He was a member of the First Church of Christ, serving as an elder and the handy man for many years. After his retirement, he delivered meals-on-wheels for 21 years. He was a proud blood donor, giving 10 gallons of blood for the Red Cross. Howard was an avid gardener, that shared produce with all he knew and a big sports fan that rarely missed a game. He was an inspiration to all he met.
Surviving are his 4 children, Carol (Frank) Graham of Rosebush, Dale (Sue) Sandy of Shepherd, Jim (Joni) Sandy of Lansing and Ruth (Mike) Dush of Pearland, TX; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Marie (Jack) Kelty and Waneta (Paul) Haga both of Stillwater, OK, Helen (Denzel) Friend of Canton, OH and Maye Ayers of Parkersburg, WV; 1 brother, Donald (Sandy) Sandy also of Parkersburg, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah of 63 ' years on April 9, 2003, his parents, Harley and Della (Shields) Sandy; infant daughter, Mary Ellen; 2 brothers, Ken and Glen; sister, Lucille Elliott and infant sister, Betty.

Mogg, Keith L.
March 14, 1921 - October 19, 2003
Keith L. Mogg, 82, lifelong resident of Rosebush, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2003, at Central Michigan Community Hospital after an extended illness.
Graveside Services for Keith will be held on Wednesday, October 22, at 2 p.m. at the Denver Township Cemetery with Rev. Michelle LaMew officiating. Memorial donations made be made to the donor's choice. Envelopes are available at Clark Funeral Chapel.
Keith was born to Earnest and Ethel Mae (Prout) Mogg on March 14, 1921, east of Rosebush. He was married to the former Margaret Rukenbrod for 59 years. Keith lived his entire life in the Rosebush area as a dairy/beef farmer. In his earlier years he hauled sugar beets for area farmers. He also worked and retired from the Whittmer Oil & Gas ' Wiser Oil Company Rosebush Field. Keith loved to pull tractors at the Isabella County Fair.
Keith is survived by his wife Margaret, 3 sons Gary (Mary Ann) Mogg, Ernie (June) Mogg, Mooch Mogg, all of Rosebush, 1 daughter Trudy (Alan) Courser of Mt. Pleasant; 8 grandchildren, Scott Mogg of Mt. Pleasant, Craig (Shawn) Mogg of Weidman, Brandy (Jason) Armstrong of Mt. Pleasant, Chad (Marisa) Mogg of Rosebush, Kurt Mogg (friend Abby) of Rosebush, Nicolette Mogg of Rosebush, Brittany and Danielle Courser of Mt. Pleasant; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers Harold (Helen) Mogg of Flint, Elmo Mogg of Rosebush, and Murray (Bonnie) Mogg of Rosebush; one sister-in-law Gloria Baumgart of Gun Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
Keith was predeceased by his parents, brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Ellen Mogg of California; sisters-in-law Enola Mogg and Lucille Mogg, and infant brother Donald.

Kreiner, Carl William
April 23, 1925 - October 18, 2003
Carl William Kreiner, age 78, of Rosebush passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 18, 2003 at the Mid Michigan Medical Center in Clare.
Funeral Services for Carl will be held on Tuesday October 21st at 11 a.m. at St. Henry's Catholic Church with Fr. Jeffrey Donner and Lorrarine McGuinness officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Henry's Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday October 19th from 7-9 p.m. and also on Monday, October 20th from 2-5 & 7-9p.m. at the Clark Funeral Chapel. A prayer service will be held on Monday, October 20th at 7:30 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to donor's choice. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.
Carl was born April 23, 1925 the son of Nicholas P. and Mary 'Irene' (McKay) Kreiner in Denver Township. Carl married Georgia Smith on December 27, 1947 at St. Henry Catholic Church in Rosebush. He worked for Dow Chemical retiring in 1982. Carl also farmed for many years. He was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church. Carl enjoyed watching baseball and spending time with his grandchildren.
Carl is survived by his wife of 55 years, Georgia Kreiner of Rosebush; children, Carla Williams of Mt. Pleasant, Cheryl (Lloyd) Eberhart of Clare, Christopher Kreiner of Midland, Craig (Lori) Kreiner of Rosebush, Candace (Rick) Maylee of Mt. Pleasant and Clay (Angie) Kreiner of Prudenville; 15 grandchildren; Scott, Lisa, Benjamin, Todd, Troy, Nicholas, Matthew, Kevin, Kayla, Kurt, Erica, Katelyn, Michael, Andrew and Casey; 6 great-grandchildren; Amber, Ashley, Autumn, Terry Trevor and Taylor.
Carl was preceded in death by a son Randall Lee Kreiner, his parents and a brother Harold Kreiner.

Dobias, Alice Irene (Dedie)
September 26, 1919 - October 10, 2003
Alice Irene (Dedie) Dobias, age 84, of Mt.Pleasant passed away on Friday October 10, 2003 at her sisters home in Bryan, Ohio after a long battle with Cancer.
Funeral Services for Alice will be held on Tuesday October 14th at 11:30 a.m. from the Clark Funeral Chapel & Crematio Services. Rev. John O'brecht will officiate with interment in the Riverside Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will be held at the Clark Funeral Chapel on Monday October 13th from 3 ' 9 p.m..
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, the Bilworth Center Hospice, or to a church of donors choice. .. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.
Alice was born September 26, 1919 the daughter of Gene and Lulu (Boyden) Dedie. She married George L. Dobias and they resided in the Mt. Pleasant area all their life.
They had one son George Dobias, Jr. who passed away in 1989.
Alice is survived by her two grandsons George (Donna) Dobias of Hudsonsville, Michigan
John ( Sheila) Dobias of Ludington, Michigan. Also a much loved great grandson, George Dobias and great granddaughter, Jessica Dobias.
Alice's real joy was her grandchildren, great grandchildren.
Sister: Dorothy (Roy) Brust of Bryan, Ohio, and brother: Raymond (Rheba) Dedie of Mt. Pleasant. Also many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son and two sisters, Ruth Decker and Jeanne Dowling.

McCreight, Whitey Ralph Emerson
December 26, 1936 - October 9, 2003
Ralph Emerson 'Whitey' McCreight, 66, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on October 9, 2003, at his home.
Funeral Services for Ralph will be held on Monday, October 13, at 2 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Craig Adams of the Weidman United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Two Rivers Cemetery in Isabella County.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, October 12, from 4-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel, 114 S. Bradley Street, Mt. Pleasant. Memorial contributions may be made to the Beal City Sports Boosters, Deerfield Township Fire Department, or Mid-Michigan Hospice.
Ralph was born December 26, 1936, in Arnold, PA, to John H. and Florence (Hazelett) McCreight. He graduated from Midland High School in 1955 and from Ferris State University in 1959 with a degree in Diesel and Heavy Equipment Mechanics. Ralph married Janet Johnson on November 28, 1959. They were blessed with two children, Kathy Anne McCreight of Petoskey and Clayton Alan (Lisa) McCreight of Mt. Pleasant and two granddaughters, Ranaeda and Amelia McCreight. Also surviving are his sister Florence Jane Gofton (Robert) of Au Gres, brother-in-law Lynn (Geralene) Johnson of Mt. Pleasant, and sisters-in-law Nancy Benedict of Edmond, OK and Mary Joan McCreight of Rialto, CA; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brother John McCreight, and brother-in-law E. Neal Benedict.
Ralph, together with his wife Janet, owned and operated the Western Auto Stores in Weidman and Mt. Pleasant for 17 years. Ralph also worked as an equipment manager for Bandit Industries until his retirement. He was a member of the Weidman United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 424-Weidman and a former member of the Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis Club. Ralph was an active member of the community and the original Co-Expo Board, and the 911 Governing Board. Ralph had a long career in fire service with the Nottawa, Sherman, Fremont and Deerfield Township Fire Departments. He was Fire Chief for Deerfield Township for several years. He recently was serving as a member on the Fire Board for Deerfield Township. Ralph was very proud to be an 'Aggie Grandpa.'

Nettleton, Gary Mac
December 15, 1937 - October 9, 2003
Gary Mac Nettleton, 65, of Houghton Lake, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2003.
Funeral Services for Gary were held on Sunday, October 12, 2003 from Clark Funeral Chapel, 114 South Bradley Street, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, with The Rev. Nancy Casey-Fulton officiating. Interment followed in the Hope Cemetery in Hope, Michigan.
Memorial donations may be made to The Gary Nettleton Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Brazosport High School in Freeport, Texas.
Gary was born December 15, 1937, to Maurice and Marie (MacDonald) Nettleton in North Bradley, Michigan. He grew up in Midland, MI, and Freeport, TX. Gary served in the United States Air Force. He was a graduate from Walla Walla Community College and graduated cum laude from Washington State University. Gary married Paula Clark of Mt. Pleasant in 1990. He was the owner of Nettleton Dental Laboratory in Houghton Lake, Michigan, and worked in dental technology for 43 years. Gary loved animals and the computer. He was a history buff on the Civil War, as well as German and Native American history.
Gary is survived by his wife, Paula; sister Jeannine Compton of Hope, stepbrother Dee Dancer of Freeport, TX; mother-in-law Betty Clark of Mt. Pleasant; sisters-in-law Beatrice Nettleton of Houston, TX, Marianne (John) Smith, Nancy (Wayne) Davis and brother-in-law Richard (Edwina) Clark as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gerald Nettleton, step-father L.C. Dancer, and father-in-law Paul Clark.

Spencer, Roy W.
April 16, 1923 - October 7, 2003
Roy W. Spencer, 80, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at his home.
Funeral Services for Roy will be held on Friday, October 10 at 1 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Merritt Bongard officiating. Interment will follow in Chippewa Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9, from 2-8 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to The New Life Christian Fellowship, the American Cancer Society of Isabella County, or the Mid Michigan Visiting Nurse Association-Hospice of Mid Michigan. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.
Roy was born April 16, 1923, the son of Charles and Myrtle (Kindig) Spencer. He graduated in the Class of 1940 from Mt. Pleasant High School. Roy married Esther Ayris on August 2, 1949. Roy farmed until his retirement in 1982. He enjoyed gardening, reading and cutting wood. Roy was a member of the New Life Christian Fellowship Church.
Roy is survived by his wife Esther Spencer; children Dan (Bonnie) Spencer of Verona, WI, Gail (Lewis) Meredith of Mason, Jeff Spencer of Mt. Pleasant, Tom (Nancy) Spencer of Charlotte, NC, and Joe (Roya) Spencer of East Grand Rapids; grandchildren Laura (Eric) Roethe, Anna Lewis, Anna, Lani and Nathan Meredith, Nicole, Tristen and Roy Spencer; brother Paul (Bertha) Spencer of Mt. Pleasant, and sister Bessie Frantz of Hastings.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents.

Souza III, Frank
April 6, 1971 - October 5, 2003
Frank Souza III, age 32, of Winn passed away on October 5, 2003.
Funeral Services for Frank will be held on Wednesday October 8th at 7 p.m. from the Clark Funeral Chapel. Pastor Dan Siedlecki of Central Michigan Christian Church will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel on Tuesday October 7th from 7-9 p.m..
Frank was born April 6, 1971 in Honolulu, Hawaii the son of Frank Jr. and Florence Souza. He worked at Maeder Sawmill in Weidman.
Frank is survived by his fianc'e, Darlene M. Moore; son, Frank Ikaika Souza; mother, Florence Souza; fianc'e step daughter, Monique S. Toth; brother, Karl (Kehau) Kahoone; sisters, Sherrie Veriato and fianc' Rick Kappler and Jaynel A. (Pancho) Aldana; nephew, Rickie A. Kappler II; nieces, Tanya, Tiffany and Tiare Kahookei and Jaydilynn Veriato.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, Frank Souza Jr..

Smith, Margaret Grace

Margaret Grace Smith, 61, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of East Tawas, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2003 at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility.
A Memorial Service for Margaret was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4th at Clark Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant with Mark Christian and Jeff Gritton officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan.
Margaret was born March 24, 1942 in Sarnia, Canada, the daughter of Howard Murray Clarke and Patricia (Fox) Clarke. Margaret retired August 1, 2003 after 16 years as Executive Director of Eastern National Forests Interpretive Association.
Margaret is survived by her father, Howard (Verna) Clarke of Mesa, AZ; children, Michael R. (Carrie) Smith of Mt. Pleasant and Scott C. (Dawn) Smith of Paradise Valley, AZ and grandchildren, Zachary and Kara Smith of Mt. Pleasant and Natalie Smith of Paradise Valley, AZ.
Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Clarke.

Rhode, Ernest Carl
May 3, 1919 - October 2, 2003
Ernest Carl Rhode, age 84, of Weidman, passed away on October 2, 2003 at the Tendercare Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services for Ernest will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. from the Clark Funeral Chapel. Deacon Larry Fussman will officiate. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel on Saturday, October 4, 2003 from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Ernest C. Rhode was born May 3, 1919 in Broomfield Twp., Isabella Co., the son of Otto C. Rhode and Ida (Schupach) Rhode. Ernest worked as a dairy farmer in Isabella Co. for many years.
Ernest is survived by his sister-in-law, Beatrice Rhode of Lake; Nieces, Ruth Ann Wright of Midland and Betty (Mark) Schulte of Weidman and several great-great nieces and nephews.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, beloved stepfather, Sylvester Dole and his brother Elmer J. Rhode.

Lienhardt, Elizabeth
August 26, 1939 - September 28, 2003
Elizabeth 'Betty' M. Lienhardt, 64, of Weidman passed away on September 28, 2003 at the Ingham Medical Center in Lansing.
Funeral Services for Elizabeth will be held on Thursday, October 2 at 11 a.m. from the Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dean Willard officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Weidman. Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel on Tuesday, September 30th from 7-9 p.m and Wednesday, October 1 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Weidman Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.
Elizabeth was born August 26, 1939 to Harry and Mildred (Schmitz) Bottorff. Elizabeth married Telford Lienhardt on November 22, 1957 in Taylor, Michigan. She worked as a bank teller and was a member of the Weidman Baptist Church. Elizabeth enjoyed reading, ceramics, stained glass, gardening, country crafts and baking.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Telford; sons, David L. Lienhardt of Sewalls Point, FL, Dennis A. (Florence) Lienhardt of Riverview, MI and Darrin M. (Margaret) Lienhardt of Potterville, MI; 9 grandchildren; Brothers, Harry (Lois) Bottorff of Taylor, MI, Robert (Wanda) Bottorff of Virginia and Clyde (Nancy) Bottorff of Dearborn Heights, MI; Sisters, Judy (Tommy) Howell of Plainville, GA and Karen Bottorff of Taylor, MI.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents.
