June Marie Downes, age 95, of Lake, died on Saturday, March 30, 2002, at Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may consider the Community Cancer Services. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.
June was born January 21, 1907, in Maidstone, Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of Charles and Aurelie (Dame) Bellaire. June was active with the Weidman Senior Center in Weidman.
June is survived by her children, Marie T. Bruce of Lake, Don V. Menard (Mary) of Pontiac, and a daughter-in-law Ruby Menard of Lake, Michigan;
4 grandchildren, Jackie Marie Menard of Pontiac, Victoria Hughes of Peru, and Sheri Cushman of Lake, and John B. Menard of Louisanna; 8 great grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
June was preceded in death by both parents, husband Stanley E. Downes on Oct. 12, 1984, her ex-husband John Menard in 1987, her 2 sons, Leo Menard in 1997, Gerard Menard in 1997, and grandson, Don Bruce in 1984.

Thomas Clayton Leadford, 46, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Central Michigan Community Hospital.
Funeral services for Thomas will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, at Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ron Vredeveld officiating. Interment
will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Thomas was born on December 18, 1955, in Chesaning, the son of Thomas and Jane Ann (Crowfoot) Leadford. Thomas is survived by his family and friends at Cen Care #1.

Barbara Jean Strohmier, 56, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on March 19, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw.
A Funeral Mass for Barbara will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2002, at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Winn with Fr. Rob Howe and Deacon John Wilberding co-officiating. Interment
will follow in St. Leo's Cemetery in Winn.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Thursday, March 21, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, March 22, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. and at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Winn on Saturday, March 23, from 8 a.m. until the time of service. There will be a wake service and rosary at the funeral chapel Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Leo's Catholic Church or the donor's choice. Barbara was born on March 3, 1946, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Fred and Hazel (Olds) Dora. She was a graduate of Shepherd High School. Barbara was a homemaker and had previously worked for Quality Farm & Fleet, Golden Maid, Strohmier Pools, and the Smart Copy Company. She married Donald E. Strohmier on April 1, 1991, in Jefferson County, Colorado. Barbara enjoyed reading Danielle Steele romance novels and researching family genealogy. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her husband Donald E. Strohmier of Mt. Pleasant; her children Kandy Wheeler (Don) of Mt. Pleasant, Cindy Mogg (Scott) of Mt. Pleasant, Terrie 'Robin' Bellingar and Tim Latzko of Alma, Judith Raby (Jeramie) of Riverdale, and stepdaughter Heidi Butterfield of Orlando, FL; 9 grandchildren Amanda, Cassandra, Brady, Nathan, Terry II, Jacob, Robert, Trevor, Jesse and 2 step-grandchildren Rachel and David; 3 great-grandchildren, Zoyei, Chelsea, and Zackery; her sisters and brothers Mary Callihan (Floyd) of Brighton, Ceceila Sheahan of Flint, Bernice Gruss (Richard) of Beal City, Geneive Leiter of Remus, Joseph Dora of Lyons, Leo Dora (Barbara) of Ionia, John Dora of Mt. Pleasant, Tony Dora (Keitha) of Rosebush, Linda Schafer (Ron) of Lake, Kenneth Dora (Doris) of Weidman, Jane Cunningham (John) of New Hampshire, Judy Dora and Tom Maeder of Weidman; and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Fred & Hazel Dora, brother Stanley Dora, brothers-in-laws Leon Thompson, Edward Sheahan, and Mitchell Leiter, and 4 nephews.
Sturm, Wolfgang Herbert
March 1, 1923 - March 18, 2002
Wolfgang Herbert Sturm, loving husband of 53 years, father and grandfather, born March 1, 1923, passed away at his home in Blanchard, Michigan, on March 18, 2002.
Wolfgang started his life in a small town in East Germany where he grew up learning the trade of a Certified Pastry Chef. At the age of just 17, he was drafted into the German navy where he served aboard the Destroyer Turpitz as an officer in the Signal Corps. Upon the sinking of the Turpitz, he was captured and spent the next 3 years of his life in a French Prisoner of War Camp. Wolfgang then went back to East Germany for his family where he worked in the Uranium Mines for 3 years before making his escape to West Germany with his wife Kaethe and children. He worked in West Germany for 9 years in an Aluminum Factory in Singen before moving to the United States with his wife and family. Once in the United States, Wolfgang and Kaethe started Little Joe's Pastry Shop in Harper Woods, near Detroit, and lived there saving everything they could to buy property "Up North" here in Blanchard. Wolfgang sold everything and moved to what he called Paradise and lived there many happy years until his recent passing.
Wolfgang is survived by his Wife Kaethe, Daughters Kaethe, Karin and Heidi, and sons Jochim, Uwe and Frantz. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Amber, Andrea, Barry, Elisha, Frantz, Jessica, Matt, Michael, Rachael, Richard and Shannon; 3 great grandchildren Bryan, Joshua and Kristina; his loving daughters-in-law Inge and Leisa and two loving sons-in-law Jeff and Mike.
Rest in Peace, Dad, we shall cherish the time we had with you forever and you will always be in our hearts.
Durr, Sr., Michael Earl

Michael Earl Durr, Sr., 51, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2002, at the West Branch Regional Medical Center.
Michael was born on May 25, 1951, in Detroit, the son of Oswald and Edith Durr. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Michael married Susan Durr on February 14, 1994, in Las Vegas. He had worked in the county maintenance department in Las Vegas, NV, before becoming disabled.
Michael is survived by his wife Susan Durr of Chestertown, MD; his children, Michael Earle Durr, Jr., Suzanne Durr, and Wendy and Amber, and his brother Patrick Durr of Rose City, MI.
Stockwell, Dean
August 21, 1949 - March 14, 2002
Dean Stockwell, age 52, of Mt. Pleasant died on Thursday, March 14, at Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services for Dean will be held on Monday, March 18, at 2 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant with the Pastor Ron Ives officiating. Interment
will take place at the Salt River Cemetery in Shepherd.

Dean was born August 21, 1949, in Manton, Michigan, the son of Willam and Joyce (Hurlbert) Alleman. Dean married Tina (Whitham) Stockwell on August 25, 1995 in Mt. Pleasant. Dean worked as a musician playing in many area bands. He had also worked as a clock and watch repairman and for Nathan Mallay Masonry. He was a member of the St. Louis Moose Lodge.
Dean is survived by his wife Tina; children, Shannon Stockwell of Breckenridge, Joe Stockwell and his wife Dusty of Mt. Pleasant, Kelly Stockwell and Nick Barnum of Mt. Pleasant, Kristin Stockwell of Winn, Josh Stockwell of Shepherd, Jessica Stockwell of Shepherd, Krystal Kremsreiter of Mt. Pleasant and Jacob Stockwell of Mt. Pleasant; 7 grandchildren, Tricia Terry, Hayley Harvey, Alexa Newell, Caleb Burns, Dravin Stockwell, Breeann Barnum, and Trenton Stockwell; his father, William Alleman of Shepherd; brother Rick Stockwell (Kathy) of Six Lakes and a sister Diane Gale-O'Berry (Dennis) of Shepherd. Dean is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Dean was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents.

Robert C. Dale, 77, of Lake Isabella passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at the Laurels of Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 16, at 2 p.m. from the Clark Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant with Todd Bruning of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Cremation will take place after the funeral service.

Robert was born in East Lansing, Michigan on June 27, 1924, the son of Clarence and Irma (Stabler) Dale. He graduated in 1942 from East Lansing High School. He served as a sargent in the United States Army during WWII, stationed in England. After the service he graduated from Michigan State University in 1949. Robert married Doris M. Loesel in May 6, 1950, in Richville, Michigan. Robert worked for over 30 years as an administration officer with the Mt. Pleasant Center retiring in 1984. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. His hobbies included woodworking, traveling, hunting and fishing, camping, reading, and mostly taking part in family activities.
Robert is survived by his wife Doris M. Dale of Lake Isabella; his children, John C. Dale of Littleton, Co., Susan D. Schlaeger (Bill) of Lake Worth, Florida, Laurie D. Wood (Al) of Mt. Pleasant, Barbara A. Tatroe (Scott) of Laingsburg, Michigan, and Jeffrey A. Dale (Lily) of Las Cruees, New Mexico; 8 grandchildren, Bradley and Jenna Schlaeger, Andrea and Ryan Wood, Abigail Tatroe, Robby, Sammy and Gabby Dale; 1 brother, James C. Dale (Ruth) of Foley, AL.; and 1 sister, Catherine I. Radde (Jack) of McAllen, TX.
Robert was preceded in death by both parents.

Rose Jane Shanaver, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2002.

Rose was born on November 11, 1919, to William Alexander and Adelin May Parker. She was married to Harry Shanaver. Rose was employed as a waitress for the Feedback Restaurant in Wyandotte. She was a former member of O.E.S.
Rose is survived by her children, Gerald Shanaver of Cadillac, Lawrence Shanaver (Helen) of Weidman, Pamela Moore (Allan) of Mt. Pleasant; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister Edith Sheatzley of Ohio.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband Harry in 1982, her son Charles Shanaver in 1979, and her daughter Barbara Abercrombie in 1980.
Brown, Neuman "Brownie" Bradford

Neuman 'Brownie' Bradford Brown, 74, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at his home.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2002, at Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Nancy Casey-Fulton officiating. Interment
will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Neuman was born in Salem, IL, on July 13, 1927, the son of Oscar and Maggie (Mercer) Brown. He married Naomi Fern Brannon in Salem, IL, on September 30, 1949. Brownie served in the United States Navy as a Seaman First Class from 1945 to 1946. He was employed for 36 years with National Supply Company and retired in 1987. He was a life member of the Mt. Pleasant Men's Bowling Association, an avid golfer, and a Red Cross Blood Donor.
Brownie is survived by his spouse, Fern Brown; his children Sharon Breidinger (Thomas) of Alma, Gary Brown (Colleen) of St. Louis, Lou Ann Christensen (David) of Mt. Pleasant, and Douglas Brown (Kristine) of Mt. Pleasant; 6 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; and 1 step-greatgrandchild.
Brownie was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Norman, 1 sister Dorine Trainor, and 1 granddaughter Kristina Breidinger in 1989.

Isaac Everson Yeater, 84, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2002, at Ingham Medical Center.

Isaac was born on October 10, 1917, in Smithfield, West Virginia, the son of Oakie and Gertie (Williams) Yeater. He married Sarah Maxine Graham on August 8, 1938, in Mt. Pleasant. Prior to being drafted, Isaac worked in Oakridge, TN, on the atomic bomb. He served during WWII and was in the U.S. Army from 1945-1964. He was a self-employed dairy farmer and retired in 1978. Isaac was a member of the Isabella Baptist Church and the American Legion.
Isaac is survived his children Sharon Schutt (Dale) of St. Louis and Marna A. Nelson (Walter) of Mt. Pleasant; his grandchildren, Ann Neal (Albert), Tamara Shaw (Gary), Cherie Filmore (Larry), Jim Newell (Pam), Christine Neyer (Ron), and Matt Nelson; his 13 great-grandchildren; his brother Herdman Yeater (Ruth) of Baltimore, MD; his sisters-in-law Doris Yeater, Dorothy Yeater, both of West Virginia, and Mildred Carrier of Mt. Pleasant.
Isaac was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Yeater in 1995; his daughter, Marion Kay Yeater in 1944; his parents; his brothers Wayne and Raymer Yeater; his nephew Arzie Wayne Yeater, Jr., and special friend Betty Thomson.

Brandie was born on September 23, 1981, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of William Keller and Julie (Logan) LaVigne. She worked as a direct care worker for Cen-Care in Weidman. Brandie enjoyed singing and camping, but especially enjoyed spending time with her daughter, her family, and friends.
Brandie is survived by her fiance' Jason Barnard; her daughter Jade Leann Barnard; her parents Julie LaVigne of Midland and William Keller of Mt. Pleasant; her grandparents Calvin and Betty Keller of Mt. Pleasant, Jolene Casper of Mt. Pleasant and Al Logan of Riverdale; her great-grandmother Iva Keller of Mt. Pleasant; sisters Darcie Wilson (Wesley) of Mt. Pleasant, Mandie Shinabery and fiance' Kal Cotter of Aiken, SC, and Danyle LaVigne of Beal City, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Brandie was preceded in death by her cousin Melissa Salisbury in 1987.
