Bette M. (Stacey) Huber, age 66, of Niagara Falls, New York and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 9, 2002, at Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, New York.
A private visitation and service was held at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., 25 William St., Tonawanda, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside committal service at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant on Friday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Samuel Reith will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA, 205 Ensminger Rd., Tonawanda, NY 14150 or to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6950 Ward Rd., North Tonawanda, NY 14120. Local arrangements are being handled by Clark Funeral Chapel, Mt. Pleasant.
Born on Nov. 28, 1935 in St. Louis, MI Mrs. Huber had been a resident of Mt. Pleasant for 30 Years and of Niagara Falls, NY for the past 11 years. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Erma (Beuthin) Stacey. Mrs. Huber had been employed in the Clerical Department of Jenee Department Store in Niagara Falls for six years. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda, NY and was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Ronald J. Huber; children Rhonda Wonch of Mt. Pleasant, Lisa (Randy) Helf of Grand Island, NY, Shannon (Daniel) Finnerty of North Tonawanda, NY, Ronald Huber of Mt. Pleasant, and Wendy Huber of North Tonawanda, NY; Seven Grandchildren, Jason, Kevin, Stacey, Brandan, Matthew, Quentin and Taylor; a sister, Phyllis (Ted) Baxter of Charlotte, MI; and three brothers, Duane Stacey of Alma, Gary (Jean) Stacey of Greenville, MI and Neil (Pat) Stacey of St. Louis, MI. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Johnston, Bruce Edward
April 27, 1942 - August 23, 2002
Bruce E. Johnston, age 60, of Rosebush, Michigan passed away on Friday August 23rd at the Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services for Bruce will be held on Monday August 26th at 3 p.m. from the Clark Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant. Rev. Brian LeMew of the United Methodist Church of Rosebush will Officiate. Interment
will take place at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.
The family will receive friends on Saturday and Sunday August 24th and 25th from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Chapel. Bruce was born on April 27, 1942 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of John J. Johnston and Lolabel (Bruce) Johnston. Bruce graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School with the Class of 1960. He married Brenda Lee LaLone on July 27, 1963. Bruce served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. He was owner/operator of Morval LaLone, Inc. which he had worked at for 39 years as a Milk Hauler. Bruce was very active serving as President and Director of the (N.F.M.H.) National Federation of Milk Haulers., also served as a Isabella County Commissioner from 1995 to 1996, active member of the United Methodist Church of Rosebush, and active with the 4th of July Celebration held in Rosebush. He was also a member of the N.C.I.M.S., the M.M.P.A. Review Board and a Convention Board Member fo the N.F.M.H.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Brenda Johnston of Rosebush, children, Missy (Rodney) Haggart and Blaine (Melissa) Johnston both of Mt. Pleasant, 3 grandchildren, Justin and Rebecca Johnston and Paige Haggart. Mother and Father in law, Morval and Theda LaLone of Mt. Pleasant, 4 brothers, John (Sandy) Johnston of Alma, Mark (Marge) Johnston of Tucson, Arizona, Gail (Linda) Johnston of Linden, and Steve (Judy) Johnston of Lansing and his sister Pat (Jim) Schafer of Mt. Pleasant, MI. 2 brother in laws, Cornell (Molly) LaLone of Mt. Pleasant and Reg (Jean) LaLone of Rosebush.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents.

Woodman, Michael Joseph

Michael Joseph Woodman, age 56, went Home to be with his Lord on August 20, 2002.

Michael was born in Pontiac, Michigan, on December 21, 1945, the son of Willis and June (Sharrow) Woodman. He served in the United States Air Force for over 12 years. Michael married Amy R. Miracle on December 30, 1983, in Dayton, Ohio. He was a minister of the Gospel for over 20 years and was ordained through the United Christian International Church. Michael became Bishop and was fondly known as 'Reverend Rambo.'
Michael is survived by his spouse Amy Woodman of Mt. Pleasant; his children David Joel Woodman of Mt. Pleasant, Jonathan Joseph Woodman of Mt. Pleasant, and his daughter Rachel Michele Woodman; his mother June Sharrow; his sisters Sharon of California and Sandy of Ohio.
Michael was preceded in death by his father Willis Woodman and his brother Bill Woodman.
Hoag, Anita Alice
November 19, 1932 - August 18, 2002
Anita Alice Hoag, age 69, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away suddenly at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw of complications resulting from the biopsy of a malignant brain tumor.
Anita was born November 19, 1932, to Charles and Dorothy Buzek in Owosso, Michigan. In December 1950, she married Norman Hoag at her parents' home near Owosso. Following her graduation from Central Michigan College of Education, Anita and Norman moved to Suttons Bay, Michigan, where they taught at Suttons Bay Public Schools for five years. During her 38-year teaching career, she and Norman taught overseas for the Department of Defense. They enjoyed their teaching assignments in Newfoundland, Canada, Midway Island, Yokosuka, Japan and Naples, Italy. After returning to the States, they taught for Mt. Pleasant Public Schools for 23 years.
With Norm, Anita operated a fine antique business, Anita's Attic, for the past 19 years. They specialized in American Art Pottery and enjoyed traveling throughout the Midwest doing antique shows. Always adventuresome, Anita enjoyed traveling with Norm to various locations in Europe, Egypt, the Far East and Australia, after her retirement. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip back to Naples, Italy.
Anita's love of family was most important in her life. One of her great pleasures was planning and hosting family gatherings to celebrate birthdays and holidays. Her other interests included reading, spending time at their Houghton Lake cottage, most athletic activities and events, attending antique auctions and flower gardening.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Norman, two daughters, Vicki (Jack) Duso, of Midland, Michigan, and Kristi (Michael) Schreiber of Six Lakes, Michigan. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Ryan (Laurie) McGuire, Megan McGuire, Erin McGuire, Tyler Dunham, Ashleigh Dunham, Marcus Schreiber and David (Rhiannon) Schreiber. She is also survived by her uncle, Winston Reynolds and two sisters, Elaine (Lawrence) Taylor, and Diane (Gene) Brand. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Dorothy and Charles Buzek and step-mother Eva Belle Buzek.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2002, at Clark Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, with Pastor Terry Nordheim officiating. Burial will be in Maple River Cemetery, south of Owosso.

Russell M. Ragan, M.D., age 82, died August 17, 2002, after a brief illness.
Funeral Services for Russell will be held on Wednesday, August 21, at 11 a.m. from St. John's Episcopal Church with Rev. Patricia Green officiating. Interment
will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Russell was born in Decker, Michigan, on March 17, 1920, the son of Milo and Sophie (Walker) Ragan. Russell was educated at the University of Michigan and graduated from Wayne University in June 1945 with a Degree of Doctor of Medicine. He practiced Family Medicine in Flint, MI, from 1945 to 1966 and was Director of Student Health Services at Central Michigan University from 1966 to 1985. He also served as Genesee County Health Director. Russell was affiliated with the Isabella-Clare Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Michigan Academy of Family Practitioners.
Russell was active as a Ham Radio Operator. He served on the Isabella County Salvation Army Board of Directors, Carman School District (Flint) Board of Education, Mid-Michigan All-Thumbs RC Club (Charter Member), American Radio Relay League, Train Collector's Association, American Flyer Club, and Flushing Historical Society.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Margaret Gray. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty; his son, John 'Pat' (Mary) Ragan of Troy; son-in-law Ian Gray of Haslett; and grandchildren Steven Ragan, Charles Ragan, Megan Gray, and Katy Gray.

Elizabeth E. Mahoney, age 81, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday, August 12, at the Tendercare Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant.

Elizabeth was born October 7, 1920, in Martins Ferry, Ohio. She married William Mahoney. He preceded her in death in 1963. Elizabeth was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Navy.
Elizabeth is survived by 2 sons, Kevin Mahoney and Dale Mahoney, both of Saginaw;
2 grandsons, Timothy Aaron Mahoney of Saginaw and Shane Regan Mahoney of Bay City.

Ida Downing, 79, of Weidman, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother went to be with our Lord on Friday, August 9, 2002.

Ida was born on July 14, 1923, in Two Rivers, the daughter of Peter and Barbara (Pung) Esch. In June 1942 she married the late Amzy VanHorn. Following his death, Ida married Leslie Thomas Downing in August 1975. She was a lifetime resident of the area.
Ida worked for 30 years for CMU in the housecleaning department. She loved her grandkids and great grandkids. She so enjoyed working in her yard and being one with nature. She never met a flower she didn't love.
Ida will be greatly missed by her daughters Ida Mitchem of Turlock, CA, Ginger (Larry) Claybaugh of Shepherd, and Amzena 'Midge' (Jack) Prout of Rosebush and her daughter-in-law Bonnie VanHorn of Mt. Pleasant and her step-son Mark Downing of Provo, UT. She is also survived by sisters Anne (Earl) Borseth of Big Rapids, Dorothy (Doyle) Esch of Mecosta; brother Bernard Esch of Mt. Pleasant; her grandchildren Randy (Tonya) Claybaugh and their children Tiffany, Randi-Jean and Dalton; Lisa (Danny) Blanshan and their children Justin, Joshua, and Tori; Karlyn (Tony) Smith and their children Abigail and Storm; Wendi (Leon) McClintic and their children Clayton and Hunter; and Jon (Stephanie) Prout and their child Little Jack.
She was preceded in death by both husbands Amzy and Les; her son Walter P. 'Buck' Van Horn; her sisters Mary Swan and Viola Arnold; and brothers Lewis Esch, Paul Esch, Frank Esch; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Elsa Anne 'Annie' Wilcox, age 72, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Thursday, August 8th, at Tendercare of Mt. Pleasant.

Annie was born June 18, 1930 in Petoskey, Michigan the daughter of Albert and Geneva (LeVeck) Billideau. She married Harmon Wilcox Jr. on June 26, 1948 in Emmet County, Michigan. Annie was a homemaker, former member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Harbor Springs, MI, and, most recently, president of Residents' Advisory Council at Tendercare in Mt. Pleasant. She enjoyed trips with her husband, especially to Florida, baking, parties, bingo, sunshine and music.
Annie is survived by her two daughters, Susan Wilcox of Mt. Pleasant and Beverly (Michael) Ellis of Plymouth, MI.; granddaughter, Amanda Nye of Canton, MI.; great-grandson, Alexander Rogers of Canton, MI.; brother, Edward (Dorothy) Billideau of Petoskey, MI. and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Harmon Wilcox Jr.; parents, Albert and Geneva Billideau and a brother Robert Billideau preceded Annie in death.
Wilson, Joshua Craig
July 17, 1976 - August 2, 2002
Joshua Craig Wilson, 26, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday, August 2, at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids as a result of injuries from an automobile accident.
Funeral Services for Joshua will be held on Tuesday, August 6, at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel, with Rev. David Crandall of First Baptist Church officiating.

Joshua was born on July 17, 1976, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Clare and Bonnie (Gannon) Wilson. He was a college student and worked for Home Depot. Joshua dearly loved his son, Eric. He was friendly, always smiling and had a heart of gold. Joshua loved music and cars and enjoyed the computer.
Joshua is survived by his son Eric James Wilson; his parents, Clare and Bonnie Wilson of Mt. Pleasant; his brother Thomas (Dolly) Wilson of Mt. Pleasant; his sister Victoria (Craig) Battle of Mt. Pleasant; his nieces and nephews Amber and Chad Battle, Brock Williams, and Brandy Wilson, all of Mt. Pleasant; many aunts uncles and cousins.
